Pros: The website management is fairly easy

Cons: The membership component is very difficult to use. Too many steps and places to get into to establish a system. Also, the e-mail marketing pieces are too generic looking.

Overall: Star Chapter provides excellent and timely customer service. We have opened up several tickets and they are responded to by a caring representative who truly wants to help resolve our issue.

Comments: From the beginning this was a pretty seamless transition from our old web-site to using star chapter. Everyone was very helpful and informative.
Katie the sales person was great and helped us find the best possible option for our chapter needs.
Dana was extremely knowledgeable and did a great job helping us set this up.

Comments: I am slowly getting more attuned to how the software functions and find it easy to follow in some aspects but, overall, it is somewhat confusing as to the structure and how different parts rely on each other and which is the more efficient way to do things. for example, trying to set up links on the main webpage to be redirected to member entities individual websites. I added it to the navigation menu without success, not seeing what I thought would populate on the main screen. I then saw someone else had already added the same features under a drop down selection of a header titled "resources". It would help to know where to begin in any particular instance. I understand I need to understand the individual module functions and purpose. in time but to get there........I shall persevere.

Pros: The fact that there are so many different options.

Cons: Not very user friendly.

Overall: StarChapter offers a great service. The customer service isn't bad, and they are responsive if you have an inquiry. If there was more training in the beginning that you didn't have to pay an extra arm and leg for that would put the icing on the cake.

Recommendations to other buyers: Ask a lot of questions up front.

Pros: Reports, Ease of marking guests attended without using paper, Credit Cards

Cons: It's a little older and could use some updating, however, if the shoe fits use it!

Overall: We use StarChapter for our Chapter and it is the best thing that you can do. It will save your programs, treasurer & membership person so much time that it will allow them to focus on the important stuff.

There is work to set it up, however, once completed there is a lot of automation which saves you time!

Recommendations to other buyers: Watch the tutorials! It's amazing what it does and you would never know from just looking at it.

Pros: Very easy to use: set-up meetings and tickets for events/programs

Cons: Would like wait list to automatically go through the list.

Overall: Our chapter was having some problems with the registration of an important event and in speaking with Dana was extremely helpful and we were able to get the registration operating correctly. While in the phone, Dana was able to help us with a couple other tweaks to make our website more efficient.

Recommendations to other buyers: Make sure that you get as many people in your organization knowledgeable about how to use the software.

Pros: Easy to use, lots of documentation to help you figure out how to make changes,

Cons: Guests that have registered for our events are listed as Attended automatically even before the event has taken place. it should just say "registered" or "paid" and then maybe during the event there should be an interface to check people in live to say if they attended or were a no-show. more ways to track event participation statistics and demographics.

Overall: My chapter used to use at least three services to manage our email announcements, program registration, and website administration. Now we can do all of that in one place with our StarChapter site. The site is very easy to manage, even for those with minimum website administration experience. When there is something we can't figure out ourselves, we can look up how to solve our problem using the extensive tutorials and guides or contact the friendly and responsive help team.

There are some limitations, such as to what extent you can customize your site, but these are very minor and in general StarChapter is the best website service we have used since creating our website.

Pros: Ease of Use, Customer Service, Website

Cons: Pulling Reports and email coding is funky.

Overall: We use Starchapter for three different clients and it's ease of use cannot be beat. Although I wish it had a few more advanced features, especially for reporting, it's pros far outweigh any cons. Customer Service is top notch with responses for 95% of my tickets being closed out same day.

Pros: Robust tools

Cons: Not very intuitive

Overall: As a non-profit organization we don't have a lot of money to spend. StarChapter knows how organizations (like ours) operate and caters to our needs. They do a great job of creating a straightforward user interface with with modest functionality. The CMS is pretty easy to understand and navigate on the back-end.

My issues are that the editing process can be confusing. If you have custom templates built they may be completely inaccessible as .php files maintained on the corporate level. This means that it can be a challenge to change the look and feel of many pages without placing a service request. And then you need a back-and-forth exchange before the desired result is understood and realized. That said, the StarChapter team are very responsive and try to be very accommodating in their responses to questions and requests. They also check on open tickets several times before asking if the ticket can be closed. So even if YOU forget that you wanted information and that you needed to follow-up regarding a task, they will remind you by asking if you still need help.

StarChapter has a lot to offer but there may be limited flexibility and if, like us, you have a volunteer staff with limited resources and annual turnover of the controls... it can be really hard for someone else to take over the site management. There's a modest learning curve and so it might be a challenging transition. It would be ideal for organizations with stable staff, consistent staff engagement, and a development budget.

Recommendations to other buyers: Make sure you train staff and limit the site management to one or two key people who will be around a few years.

Pros: Easy to use, or to find an answer through the knowledge base.

Overall: With our association's recent rebranding, we accepted bids on a new website, which were quite expensive without the functionality we needed. It was suggested to look into Star Chapter and we are so glad we did. The product is exceptionally affordable for building a new website, offering e-mails, surveys, membership management, board support, etc. The service and support are exceptional. We are so glad we went with this product.

Comments: The STAR Chapter platform is so easy to use and is perfect for our association. The best feature of STAR Chapters is that it is all housed under one system and we don't have to have additional third party platforms all trying to work together - usually unsuccessfully.

Comments: I love the built-in features of this product. I have a little I.T. background, but every new application needs to be learned. StarChapter has wonderful tutorials, kbase, and fast Support Ticket response. I never feel dumb about asking because they are totally dedicated to helping and making my experience a good one. We are a not-for-profit organization, and our board members change yearly. They even have a whole program for training the new people, without extra cost, every time we have a staff change. We've only been using this new website for 2 months, and already we've taken advantage of so many features we love. I highly recommend you consider it during your search.

Pros: The email communicating system.

Cons: The mismatch of options on the front end, individual profile end, and admin end of the site.
The inability to set standard views for daily use (defaults for individual members)
The complicated way the profile editor is displayed.
The inability to have custom drop downs made (similar to the State drop-down) for large comprehensive lists - these need to be on both the front end - application and member profile editor as well as the admin member manager area.

Overall: There are some features of the software that are excellent. I really like the email communication interface. Our biggest concern is that there is very little ability to customize to your association needs. Customization of the site is not an option and work around options are complicated, confusing & time consuming for the board. Communication between the front and admin end can be mismatched. If you are ok with small things like application field names not matching profile field names and back end names, but being similar it's fine. If you are ok with having drop down menus on your application, but not on your individual profile editors, which results in somewhat of a mismatch of information, you will be fine. For our Association, it's all small things that you will encounter with the software, scrolling down pages of data, the overall display of profile editors, etc... that will make things difficult for the board and for membership. It's very important to understand that these items can't be changed even with a work order and in our eyes this is a major limitation of Capterra. Overall, the system functions, but it isn't the easiest software to manage and it will take a MAJOR commitment on the part of the associations board to make this system work as best as it can for your association. If your Association is small and doesn't need much in the way of tracking and display, CME, spreadsheet export, and more, Capterra will be a good solution. I will say compared to a fully customized website development it is more economical for all involved, despite the commitment it requires.

Recommendations to other buyers: This list is long. I only have previous experience to compare, but some functions of the system are really good, but others are difficult to manage. The overall view of the admin area is cumbersome and wordy and difficult to read. The inability to set defaults for admins, ex: I want to always view at least 50 or 100 members, viewing 5 members at a time doesn't help me and resetting it every-time is annoying. The same goes for dates. Our dates for member search start at1950, but our Association wasn't even established until 1985, that means every-time we need to search we have to change the dates. It's all just a bunch of extra steps and mismatching that make using the system difficult.

Cons: Navigating around the site is not easy. It's hard to find everything. I still can't find why I'm getting email to the webmaster at my Yahoo email account when I've looked and replaced the email address with my gmail account. There has to be another place where this email address resides.

Overall: I've been the Communications Director since October 2016. I have managed other websites before and never required this much training. A lot of items seem hidden and the tutorials are not helpful for a lot of tasks. Thankfully, the support staff fills in the blanks. I think organizations need sites that are easier to manage. We just don't have a lot of time to spend on these tasks. We have volunteer positions and need to complete the work quickly and efficiently.

Comments: We moved from a site we updated using FrontPage to Star Chapter. Understandably the beginning was a bit confusing but the support through the Ticket system is excellent. Yes the Lite version has some limits but we are down to one system now.

Pros: Ease of managing membership with corporate imports. A built-in Forum and Blog. Dues collection with automatic reminders. Lots of pre-configured templates. Awesome event registration and management including badge printing, configurable fee collection. Tons of configurable administrator options, or have StarChapter do it all.

Cons: Lots and lots to learn if you want to be the Administrator. However, that's actually one of the Pro's as well!

Overall: We had to move off a website managed by a company that was going out of business in 2 months. Talk about stress! Turns out StarChapter has awesome features that are going to make our lives so much easier managing an all volunteer organization. The integration was expertly handled, and we were made to feel like family. The support team is great. The follow up is fast. Definitely take a look if you're thinking about making a switch.

Comments: In the 1+ year that our chapter has been using StarChapter we've successfully onboarded several executive delegates who are now equipped to handle key functional areas of chapter operations. The fact that things like a member database not only exists but is part and parcel of the overall solution makes this a very useful tool for chapter operations management. It's not just a "website".

Comments: We are able to use the StarChapter platform to perform 90% of our chapter's online needs. The platform is easy to use/maintain and the StarChapter support team is very helpful and quick to respond to inquiries and questions. Pros: The campaign functionalities cover email, survey, tickets etc. One stop shopping.

Cons: Hard to understand how to set up tickets, coupons and vouchers.
Not sure how to refund the ticket.

Overall: It would be nice if you have some instruction on your screen. My team is not familiar with Star Chapter and it is challenging to support our events. Is it possible to schedule a webinar training with real person who we can ask questions?

Recommendations to other buyers: Instead of respond to the inquiry via the support section on the site, please contact the customer by phone and have a conversation to understand the issue. It will be good if we can get support after 4pm since we are all volunteers and may not always be able to call before 4pm.

Comments: I was just hired as the new IAE 6 months ago for my Chapter and was just feeling pretty confident in getting around in our current web-site. Then it was announced that we had to switch over to a new web-site company. Hence, start all over again and learn a new web-site. My brain completely blocked. It was so much information at one-time, too soon. Everyone on StarChapter from the sales department to the support team have been beyond patient, professional, and very fast to respond to my support tickets. No matter how big or small the issues , they will either fix it for you, or explain a solution in detail, so that you can understand how to solve the matter yourself. The StarChapter team always performs a follow up to make sure your issue has been resolved before the support ticket is closed. They will not leave you alone. I am very thankful for each one of the StarChapter's Team Members.

Pros: It provides instant spreadsheets for various areas, I like that I can edit member information with ease and produce reports; I like that I can automate renewal notices, etc. Since I am a new user I may have more pros later on once I have had more time to use the software.

Cons: Finding and changing items can sometimes be a challenge. Drop and drag of variables doesn't work correctly for me but now that I know an alternate way it is fine. Some items are in multiple places such as announcements, uploads, etc. and I wish for each area there were multiple choices right in that area to work from instead of going back and forth. Also, have issues with templates and the fact that if you schedule an e-mail you are limited to your choice of e-mail templates vs. sending an e-mail now. There are quirky things about the software but with more use getting used to it.

Overall: I am pleased with the software product. I do wish some features were updated but have made comments and StarChapter is receptive and will consider for their next upgrade!

Recommendations to other buyers: I think from support side it is very user friendly because you are using it 8 hours per day from the customer side, I find it not as user friendly but am navigating and taking notes so when I do have to go back days after to repeat a process it will take me a minimal amount of time and I won't be going all over looking and remembering how I did that last week!

Comments: StarChapter is a very powerful application but I find that its power makes it complex. Lucky for me, StarChapter's support is THE BEST. I have the support people to be knowledgeable, pleasant, quick to respond and they always follow up to insure my issue has been satisfactorily resolved.

Comments: I just started using StarChapter this year. I did participate in one video tutorial when getting started and for the most part it has been pretty easy to learn and use. Many functions communicate with each other making it easy to generate emails from existing meetings, etc. Customer support was very responsive when I had questions.

Pros: The way everything is together and organized. The options for each event make it easy to promote.

Cons: Some of the pages are hard to find when you're new to the software as I am.

Overall: Star Chapter was voted by PC Mag as Best Membership Management Software of 2016 in the category of Local Non-Profit Chapters and Associations, which I would agree with as Administrator for our local chapter. Their customer service folks are patient, professional and escalate issues as needed. I had no past experience with website administration, but now I am confident in my ability to support and to hand off to a successor.

Comments: StarChapter brings a lot of functionality to the table -- content management, member management, meeting management and communication tools. Overall: We had struggled with creating a professional looking website for our local ASQ Chapter and every time a member said they could create one for us, it still looked like a "Club" website and not a professional Organizations Website. We were very frustrated. We finally convinced the leadership to look into Star Chapter and we are very glad we did! The website is very professional looking, has many features that we wanted and we can easily train new members to be the administrators for it. We are very pleased and wish we had moved to Star Chapter years ago!

Cons: Sometimes at year end it is difficult to remember how to make changes, but I usually can figure it out by re-watching the tutorials.

Pros: That everything is available all in one place (meeting/event announcements and registrations, ability to pull analytic reports on the site, produce newsletters, and maintain the website).

Cons: There aren't nearly enough templates to choose from for the various communications we would like to send out. Some of the formatting is frustrating and doesn't carry through to the emailed version.

Overall: Kat and several of the customer service team were extremely helpful in the re-design of our chapter's website this summer. They made the transition very easy and we were really impressed with how quickly the turnaround time was. It was hard for us to keep up with them! The training was very helpful, too. We were/are very pleased with the new site and how everything turned out. There are a few more features I wish were available to us, such as more email templates, ability to populate event emails, etc., but for the most part, we are able to do everything right from StarChapter.

Pros: Having everything in one place.

Cons: Although I have found the system to be easy to use I fear people who may not have as much experience as I do may not.

Overall: I recently became a board member of a local chapter and we were using Wordpress for our website and ConstantContact as our email database. With the help of StarChapter we were able to combine both services into one. This ultimately saved us time and money. Plus the customer support was phenomenal. They worked with me and the board every step of the way.

Recommendations to other buyers: Take the time to sit through the tutorials and webinars, it's well worth it. If you have a question it can more than likely be answered in the Knowledge Base but if you can't find the answer you can put in a support ticker and someone will reply quickly.

Pros: I like Star Chapter because it provides a comprehensive association management system that is effective, efficient, and affordable.

Cons: There are a few added features I have asked for and hope will be implemented in the near future, such as scheduling of email distributions based on specific dates and event invitations that include "Yes" and "No" buttons with tracking of member responses so they don't receive invitation reminders if they have already indicated they cannot attend an event.

Overall: I highly recommend Star Chapter to every association leader looking for an effective, efficient and affordable comprehensive association management system. Star Chapter does it all for each of my chapters; membership management, event management, communications, online payments and reporting. If you're looking for one solution that does it all, look no further!

Pros: Ease of learning how to do stuff for someone who isn't a technology nerd. Sometimes that means my current intern has to look at the video and then show me, but once the lightbulb goes on, I can do 'most anything.

Cons: Some of their training videos have left me wondering what I just watched. That's when I reach out to a digital native / millennial to help me "get it." Or, I submit a job ticket.

Overall: Having been with StarChapter for a couple years now, I really like the customer service experience. I've learned to check out the online videos (sometimes beyond my understanding), but I have learned that -- if things aren't clear -- submitting a Job Ticket gets a quick response. And unlike some other software companies I've used (but won't name), the people who talk to me or email back and forth with me until I understand NEVER make me feel like I'm the idiot who doesn't understand functionality. That's so refreshing! If you're a small one-person office like I am, with sometimes-help from college interns, I highly recommend StarChapter. They offer reasonable pricing with no long-term contract. They let you take your time in adopting the different feature capabilities. And once you're up and running, they're an awesome value for the monthly spend!

Recommendations to other buyers: It may not have all the bells and whistles that some companies demand. I've had Board members (whose companies likely pay the big bucks for fancier functionality and I.T. people to work with it) that think our software should do things it cannot. But for our purposes, it's been a HUGE success and a GREAT value.

Comments: Really have enjoyed this software and it has been great for processing registrations for our chapters meetings. Downside is that based on network restrictions at some of the contributors places of employment, a lot of the functionality is blocked :-( This is not Star Chapters fault but it is good to be aware of when purchasing. That is the only reason I ranked ease and functionality a bit lower. If we had full access and no restrictions it would be even better. Otherwise we would highly recommend Star Chapter

Overall: I've used StarChapter for two years to manage a professional association. While it works fine for many of our needs like announcements and static pages, there are some issues with the functionality. For example, there are too many clicks required to purchase items like sponsorships, causing confusion for vendors. There is only one newsletter design and it is lacking. There is difficulty when a member registers along with a guest for an event, but they pay separately. They should also provide a template update (at a reasonable cost) to reflect newer style web design - if they do this already, they haven't offered it to existing clients. On the positive side, the cost is about right for what you get. And the customer service is quick to respond. Unfortunately I've had too many support tickets that resulted in an answer like, "There is nothing we can do to fix this now; we'll put it on our list for our developers." Rarely have fixes I've suggested been made.

Pros: The functions and our ability for multiple users (treasurer, membership, newsletter, etc) to use the data and StarChapter tools.

Cons: May need to improve a function in StarChapter to allow ballots with write-ins. There is functionality for ballots just not how we do things.

Overall: I like the fact that we can manage our organization with less effort. As a volunteer organization it is difficult sometimes to get participation for specific Chapter functions. StarChapter has simplified that so we can do more with less. The data or information is centrally located and accessible between users (treasurer, membership, newsletter, etc.) As we get more familiar with StarChapter we have been using more and more of its functions. If we need any support they respond very quickly with assistance. We have been StarChapter user since 2013. We have been staunch supporters of StarChapter to others in our National organization. Recently our National organization is migrating to StarChapter management platform.

Overall: Star has provided our San Fernando Valley APICS chapter with time saving tools that are critical with Board members who are volunteers. The ease of use and the ability to quickly update the website as changes are encountered make our website current. Many administrative tasks on members, seminar and educational offerings such as keeping track of event registrations are now maintained with ease and significantly less time than before Star Chapter days. Membership monitoring, specially now that corporate apics.org has setup a partnership with Star Chapter to provide daily updates, has take a huge burden on chapter management. Keeping all this chapter information available for any authorized board member year after year as officers may change continues to be one of the best resource provided by Star Chapter.

Pros: Once you learn how to manage the software, it really has made communicating with our chapter easy and professional looking. Also, having the calendars and event managers are superb. They make it easier to communicate with our members but they also make it easier for the members to keep up with timelines themselves.

Cons: More difficult to navigate than proposed to us in the beginning. Also much more difficult to adjust the content of the website than proposed. I am sure this is intuitive and easier to manage than other platforms if you do this for a living, but for a novice it can be a bit daunting and complicated with several steps in different areas of the back-end to reach the desired effect on the front end.

Overall: The software isn't as intuitive and easy to use as they say for people that don't work in this kind of software for a living. That being said, the customer service is incredible and very responsive (and quickly). There have only been a few minor things that the software has been unable to do. We have a quality website and the meeting and communication features are exactly what we needed. All in all, we are very satisfied with StarChapter. The quality of product and support that we receive for the cost cannot be beat. We looked :)

Pros: Very easy to use and make changes to. Very intuitive. They offer free training sessions via webex. Communications module gives a very formal and professional appearance to emails, meeting announcements, and newsletters. From the Meeting Manager you can see how many are registered and how many have paid. Lots of features and functionality.

Cons: We haven't come across anything that was negative.

Overall: Support tickets were responded to very quickly. Friendly and helpful. They sent detailed instructions along with making the updates for me. The initial team worked with us to get everything we wanted in place before going live.

Recommendations to other buyers: In the future itI would be nice to have a Fundraising Module that would let you track donations, gift baskets, expenses, etc.

Comments: I had reached out to ask about adding a new picture to our home page. They responded with the size that would be needed and also suggested that we could change the current layout to make the existing size of the picture work. Pros: Complete, Easy to use, we can have more then one person work on the back end We dont'' need a "software guy" to make it work.

Cons: The initial learning curve is something you have to deal with but its much easier than learning Joomla or HTML.

Overall: After a disastrous experience with another solution we turned to Star Chapter. We received terrific help getting started. With the help of our starchapter project lead, Erin, we were up wiht an operating with a professional website in 2 WEEKS. We started the first week of December 2015 and were up Before Christmas. And it all worked!

We update the site regularly. When we run into something we don't understand the StarChapter support is there to help. We have always gotten a solution within hours of asking. We had one time when the site was down. Within minutes of sending the email to support we were up.

I think the StarChapter solution and the support team are great. Anyone with a professional society or similar membership group should look at this solution seriously.

Recommendations to other buyers: For new users find a few site designs you like so your implementation leader has something to reference. Also use it for a while as is. We haven't found anything we couldn't do. It may be a different process then with another solution but as long as it functions properly do you really care that its not like the other site? Also take the time to do small group training with your fellow board members. We did it based upon function using our live site.

Comments: The learning curve is quite long for those of us who are volunteers and dont' work with it every day. How to navigate the system is not always intuitive or consistent. There are things we think it should be able to do, that it can't do or do easily. I say all this again with the understanding that all the people who use this software work full time jobs and do this as part of their volunteer role on our Board.

The service, especially of late has been awesome - seems that staffing levels are at a good level!!

Comments: The best thing about this software is the ability to copy emails, meetings, and multiple other things. The templates are great. There are still some things that I¿m still trying to learn, but I have always been a hands on learner. Doing things myself a few times before I¿ve got it down. The only complaint or back draw I have is the Board Trainings. Seems I can never find what I need or the instructions are vague and hard to follow. The rep I work with the most, Kat Martineau, couldn¿t be more helpful. She is always there to help me and answer any question I have. All the other reps are helpful as well when I enter a support ticket for something I can¿t find.

Comments: The software is far from being intuitive and lacks a lot in a useful user manual/guide. The tutorial videos were great for getting started but need expanded to cover more material for reference. The loss of email support was very disappointing. The WYSIWYG editor still lacks a lot of functionality and certainly does NOT show you what you will get. The editor use to allow picture re-sizing by clicking and moving the edit points ¿ now it is no longer supported. Through it all, the customer service reps have ALWAYS been very helpful in resolving any/all issues that have come up. They are the only reason why we are staying with Star Chapter.

Comments: Customer support is responsive except for weekends. If you have a question late Friday evening you will not receive a reply until Monday morning. But you will receive a reply early Monday morning, they do not sit on your request but attempt to answer you in a timely manner. Even with the hours, I am very satisfied with the support I get with all my questions. Only once was a question not answered right away. Turned out to be a "glitch" with the software. The support team thanked me for reporting it and had an answer within the week.

Comments: I have been using StarChapter for 3 years for out association of about 350 members. It does almost everything we need to run our organization. They worked with our society headquarters and are now uploading a membership database update twice a day so that our membership database is always current.
Programming is not entirely intuitive, but there is plenty of help and the customer service is top notch.

The software is reliable and customer friendly with prompt responses to support requests.

Comments: I would rate customer service as the biggest pro and design issues as the biggest con. For example, the Member ID# is not in the registration information in Meeting Manager which requires a search in both the Meeting and Member Manager. Another example is the primary and secondary contact information is confusing - you never know if it is a work or home address or phone number. Many times it is listed as "work" when it is not, or there is a company name with a home address. Possibly it is a disconnect with the APICS import. Also, the area code of the phone number is not visible without going to the second page .

Comments: The system is generally very easy to use, which is good considering it is the first time I have managed a website. Two cons come to mind:

1. I generally have a hard time locating templates when I need to update references on the home page.
2. It would be helpful if you could see what other pages a certain page is linked on. You can only see it the other way. (Example: A link to site 2 is provided on site 1. When editing site 1, you can see that site 2 is linked, but when editing site 2, you cannot see that it linked on site 1.)

Comments: We have developed some nice pages, easy to navigate. Seems relatively straightforward. Can utilize other pages to figure out how to create new.

Import of member data is extremely easy. I am targeting updates weekly and takes just about 10 minutes as I modify one field to make the company names consistent.

Emails are a little more complicated.. sometime the selection and wording is not organization specific.. some of the emials sound more like a selling tool for Star Chapter. Should be geared toward the organization with StarChapter functionality. Will tailor to our organization

Comments: We started using the software/website management for our group about 6 months ago. We only experienced a few minor issues during the conversion process, but those were quickly resolved by submitting a support ticket. The support specialists are quick to respond, friendly, and thorough with their help. We have been extremely please with our decision to manage our association with Star Chapter. Our website is now up to date; we are able to make changes without much effort; and we can now keep our members better informed with web postings. We are currently renewing our memberships online for the first time and the feedback from our members has been overwhelmingly positive.

Comments: Our small professional association is not affiliated with a national organization so we are not a chapter. Yet StarChapter was still a good choice for us. The technical representative helped us through a lengthy transition process and was always reassuring that we would be able to bring all of our data and old website files together to make it work. The cost was reasonable compared to other comparable products yet StarChapter offered more. The one thing it does not do is integrate with Quickbooks and I think they are working on that for the future.

The software is user friendly on the user side as well as the administrative side.

Comments: We have just switched to the StarChapter product and after group training, one-on-one training, reviewing the training videos and articles, and spending time configuring our new website, I can safely say that it's a great product to use. The main areas I work on are newsletters, web pages and the email manager and the software makes it easy for me to quickly update and create new content. I've also found that the customer service is very responsive and an issue that we had with a security certification was quickly addressed. Overall, it's been a great start to my new life with StarChapter.

Comments: We use StarChapter for our purchasing organization to share information with members and the public, have online interaction with members and for meeting and tradeshow registration. It is pretty user friendly and the more we use it, the better we get at accomplishing our goals for it's use. It has saved a HUGE amount of time for our annual Business Matching and Tradeshow event and the online registration is helpful for our treasurer to track funds. We are looking at selling our branded items to our members through the site this month. We have found a few things it could do better but we usually can find a workaround for those things. Customer Service is great - I always get a timely response and if they don't have a solution, they do offer to ask for one in upcoming enhancements. Well worth the money we spend!

Comments: Our Association has been so happy with our StarChapter website. It is easy for me to populate the website, change it up, add articles and one of my favorite features is the newsletter. This feature cuts time in half for me to create a scrolling newsletter that is convenient for our members to read. If I run into a snag, tech support is only a quick email away and I have the answer I need in a short amount of time. The cost is more reasonable that most sites I've researched. Our Association does not use the registration feature, but that may change in the future.

Comments: We have had several reasons to call on the customer service at StarChapter lately. They are very helpful, professional and timely in their responses. They also make the more technically challenging issues easy for someone who isn't familiar with website language.

Comments: We have only been using StarChapter as our website provider, but our entire Board of Directors is very pleased with the product so far. The development experience was pleasurable and our direct contact was absolutely fantastic. We have found the Administrative side easy to use, and when we run into trouble, questions, or confusion we reach out to the resources and technical assistance.

By far, our favorite experience of this tool so far are the people who help us. They go absolutely above and beyond to assist us each and every time. Thank you for a great customer experience.

Comments: My chapter has been using Star Chapter for over a year and we have been very happy. We had excellent support when setting up our new site and getting all of our settings and preferences set up on the back end. I find the interface and features to be easy to use. When I have questions or need assistance the support is very responsive and helpful. Our members really like how the site looks and how easy it is to navigate. Our board appreciates all of the great tools and features that help us with managing membership, meetings and more. It allows our chapter to capture important administrative info and makes it easy to post meeting announcements, send group emails, handle website updates and meeting coordination. We save time and run more efficiently thanks to StarChapter.

Comments: Since we are a small chapter we do not utilize the software payment area, however, we use mostly all other areas. It handles all of our needs and the chapter is pleased to have been able to switch over to this product. It was a much more affordable option then working with a private vendor to maintain a website and generate a newsletter. Plus we have some many other features that were unavailable before. Handles all of our Chapter needs well.

It's a great tool for a small membership organization or chapter of a larger organization.

Comments: Pros - super easy to use, excellent customer service support, great backend reporting options and registration system is user-friendly too.

Cons- website design templates are considered too 'basic' by many of our clients. They want to be able to customize it more. We just remind them that they have to live "within the parameters" of the STAR Chapter's functionality.

Comments: I was working on making some updates to our chapter website and sent in a ticket for help with formatting a page. I received a response from Starchapter the following day. The instructions were clear and solved my formatting issue!

The software menus are not easy to follow or being able to "intuitively" use.

Comments: The software is not easy to use or follow while trying to learn 'how to' begin inserting, managing, etc. the information needed. Meaning, as you look at the main headers within 'admin' window several of the choices for updating members info, board positions, etc. is pretty challenging. You need more videos that walk you through specific issues verses generic as well.

Your knowledge base articles do not seem to be updated in real time so that the instructions can guide you as you select a header and drill down to the next level it advises you.

This includes setting up main contact information, membership records, website design and payment processing. During project kickoff, we also schedule with you and your team a complementary board training led by our Support Team. Attending the training has proven time and time again to improve the experience of managing the organization using StarChapter. We regularly add new articles and video tutorials to the Knowledgebase with easy, step-by-step instructions of how to navigate through the different features.

Comments: We spent a bit of time doing demos with other companies that offered everything under the sun (so it seemed) and then some for membership management and registration software and we found them all to be just too much or too expensive for our small Association.

StarChapter offers just the right amount of products and services for us and our members. The Customer Service and responsiveness to our sometimes complicated questions has been superb and we've been able to use their "How-to" videos and other tutorial items regularly to improve our membership management, website features and design, and registration services to our members with ease!

Flexibility is one of the only downsides I've found though even with the lack of options we were used to with our old systems, the customer service representatives have always been able to show me a different way to use what StarChapter offers in order to come close to the flexibility we need.

Overall, very happy with the product and we are really enjoying seeing our members engage with one another through the blog and uploading their information in their profiles - something they've never been able to do before!

Chances for success are much greater; easy to use!

Comments: StarChapter is perfect for MASSP. Our organization of 750 members gets perfect service at an absolutely incredible price. I work alone as executive director, so I really need as much automated support as possible. Membership portal is perfect. Communication portal is wonderful and easy to use. I would be LOST without the Meeting portal. I can't believe you provide all of this at the cost you do. I speak about StarChapter all the time to colleagues.

Comments: Our chapter just went through converting our website to StarChapter, going line 7/27/15. The Implementation Team Lead we worked with was great to work with. She answered questions quickly, and discussed options when we wanted to make changes. Our Board is happy with the site and we are becoming more familiar with the options. We wish we would have done this five years ago instead of struggling with a custom website that did not have the functionality that StarChapter has built in for non-profits like us.

Comments: The Consortium is not your typical chapter organization, but the basic functionality of StarChapter impressed us so we made the leap. The project team, Kat M., was always available and even though our questions sometimes made everyone scratch their heads, they were all considered and in most cases workarounds developed. I think because of this we ate up a lot of time that might have been available for training, so we are learning as we go along.

The new page is great - everything we wanted - and support so far has been very professional and accurate.

Comments: We're a small non-profit in LA County, working towards an extremely important goal - ending homelessness in the San Gabriel Valley. Our requirements for our site and operations in general are different from those of many businesses. From our first meeting, StarChapter impressed us with their understanding of our need for flexibility and their ability to evaluate from our perspective. Our StarChapter rep not only listened tirelessly to our ideas and answered questions, she came up with terrific suggestions and implementations that solved problems and enhanced our delivery of our mission statement. Team effort with people like this on your team is great for any company, but for a small 501(c) (3) facing a challenging goal, it's priceless.

Comments: My team-mate usually handles the website. We had a message to get out quickly and I took her instructions and had an e-mail published inside of 15 minutes. I went from not having done much of anything in the software to done.

Our payment processor doesn't handle international credit cards, but PayPal is another option that does work. Check your details before start-up. Knowledge is better understanding and results!

Comments: We're very happy that we made the switch to StarChapter after struggling with poor website software. The look and user-friendliness of our site has resulted in an increase in site visits by our chapter members and others. The extensive back-end functionality has made the tasks of our Board of Directors so much easier. Our Treasurer, Programs Director and Membership Director would be absolutely distraught if we were to lose all the features offered by StarChapter.

Comments: When it comes to all-things-techie, I'm not the sharpest. So, last week, when I received an electronic message that said I needed to renew our SSL certificate, I wasn't sure whether that was necessary or whether our new software company now handles that. Sent an email to them, asking the question at 9:02. Had an automated confirmation notice in seconds. And at 9:36, I had a complete, concise, easy-to-understand answer explaining my options. It didn't suggest I was stupid (as so many techie company employees are good at). And, amazingly, that email was signed with a real person's name and contact information. I was floored. Love this software company!!!

The web-site is easy to navigate with the help of the excellent customer technicians.

Comments: Navigating the web-site looks overwhelming at the beginning. Star Chapter has many training venues for you to use at your convenience to learn how to navigate and become comfortable with using it.
When submitting a ticket, the response is almost immediate. The customer service technicians are great and most of all patient. I have learned so much by my own navigation and the great assistance of the Star Chapter team.
I am hoping to have more time to enhance our site.

In a pinch, they are quick!

Comments: Anyone who participates in an organization / charitable or industry-related will really want to jump on board with this software. From meeting announcements to photo galleries, registration, member roster admin and most importantly - website maintenance and updating this has it all. Once you know the navigation through the various sections (some of it is VERY intuitive; some parts are hard to maneuver without a roadmap) you won't change to anything else. Even if you get stuck or have an issue the Star Chapter service is spot on with replies / solutions. I highly recommend it. Only one con: the wysiwyg editor sucks. Once you know how it (doesn't) work you have to 'outsmart' it. Overall - GET It! Good stuff.

Comments: My association has been using StarChapter for our non-profit association website for approximately 2.5 years and I have always been consistently impressed by the customer service and technical support received when issues do arise that we cannot fix ourselves. Additionally, as I recently noted to Technical Support, having the log of questions they have answered in the past was very beneficial, as it prevented me from requested technical assistance with an issue I had in the past. Following the information previously given took care of my problem. Thanks!

Comments: I've worked with several CM software programs as well as web design software. While this ultimately does what you need it to do, it takes more steps than necessary. Simple things like having a pull down list of pages on your site to link to are missing meaning you have to know the URL of a page to link it in another page or an email. There isn't even easy access to your photos. You have to go through at least 10 steps just to edit a photo when there should just be a photo editor just like there is a page editor. Other things such as erasing membership information from expired members (you don't know if you are reaching out to someone that was a member last year or ten years ago) and the need to upload information several times depending on where you are using it (on the website vs in an email vs on an event page) make it not very user friendly. Even with registration for events, the page that shows the registrations isn't the same page where you download the registration from. You have to go to a different registration page for that. Too many steps to do the simplest things. It also doesn't have options for sorting or filtering by any column. If someone has a balance, you can't see what that balance was for. You can't sort who opened an email in alphabetical order or by time. You can't look at a member profile and see what events they attended or if the last time they opened an email. You also can't have members update their information at the time they renew their membership. You have to try to get them to go in after the fact to make updates.

However, with all of this, my biggest pet peeve comes when creating questions for event registration and when selecting multiple choice, space is only given for one option. You always have to click - add another choice. Why? Obviously there should automatically be two choices if it's multiple choice - that's what makes it MULTIPLE choice. It's these types of little annoyances that you find in several places that make you wonder if the people that designed the software ever use it or used any other CM software before being hired to design Star Chapter.

Comments: Our website went from zero to completely amazing when we implemented Star Chapter last April. Our members are thrilled that they now have a very user friendly, self-service site that allows them to view information, register and pay for meetings and join or renew their chapter memberships online.

Our board of director members are equally excited about how the amount of manual paperwork, spreadsheets and printing has dropped to practically nothing.

As chapter webmaster, I receive frequent compliments regarding the look and feel of our new site, as well as the new features and functionality. There are some frustrating moments but the customer service is excellent and problems are quickly resolved.
