Pros
Intuitive and easy to use parametric part and assembly modeling.
Users switching from other parametric software can pick this up quickly.
Professional version includes Sheet Metal modeling, Photo-realistic Rendering, import & export translation of 3D models, and a first-pass linear static FEA package that aren't available in the Standard version.
Support is excellent. The staff is very knowledgeable and the response is very timely.
Maintenance cost is affordable.
Cons
There are features that you won't find in Alibre, like surfacing.
Available for Windows only.
Users migrating from a 2D based system may have problems switching to parametric design.
Overall
I am an experienced user of AutoCAD and Pro/E 2001 and Pro/E Wildfire 4. I routinely design new parts and assemblies and have yet to encounter a situation where Alibre could not adequately meet my needs. This is a very capable product that deserves consideration when looking for new or replacement software. Much effort has been put into making this package intuitive. New users are up to speed with Alibre quickly. I highly recommend Alibre Design Professional.
