Product Reviews

We purchased Seraphim early on, while they were still doing a lot of developing.

Pros: Seraphim staff are very professional and responsive to our needs. Their customer service is outstanding.

Cons: We have had difficulty with implimentation at our facility,. Due to the process necessary to get people connected, we have had trouble getting our leadership & congregation to use the software. A simpler on-boarding would be appreciated.

Seraphim is probably the easiest church management tool a small or medium sized church could start.

Pros: The most appealing part of Seraphim is the ability to create your own filters (queries) for people based on a wide variety of criteria. Our church relies on automation as much as possible to reduce administrative paper-pushing so we have pushed this feature to the limit. Using the tools to create "groups" (queries) and even groups of groups is pretty straight forward and makes it easy to find answers to questions and figure out what you need to do with people.

And while it is not a "feature," having all of the different elements of church management under "one roof" greatly simplifies administration. Before we had a dozen different systems and processes for a dozen different ministry needs. Now we use Seraphim for (mostly) everything and it makes data management a lot easier.

Cons: The desktop platform relies on MS Silverlight which is not only clunky but discontinued by MS and incompatible with a lot of browsers (like Chrome). The mobile version of Seraphim does not have the administrative tools so the church admin has no choice but to use Seraphim on Silverlight.

Possibly related to the Silverlight platform is the little irk that the dashboard is not responsive and therefore requires a minimum monitor size of around 17" to access all the tiles and fields. This can be a problem for a small church like ours that functions off of laptops and older computers with small monitors.

Support is wonderful. I gave 4 stars due to time difference--it would help if you had longer hours.

Pros: Because it's web-based, others can use it. This will move our church forward and bring us more up-to-date.

Cons: I've experienced the process of on-boarding and training to be very time-consuming and complicated. Because Seraphim will substitute for our current phone app and online giving, we considered that in the cost (thinking the previous systems would be able to be discontinued immediately). However, 6 months later we are still paying for both as the transition in still not complete. Also, because Seraphim is web-based and we are in a small town, we have frustration with slow speed. In addition, some of my data did not make it in the transfer (such as start dates for members). This is quite inconvenient.

Overall: The ability to take attendance of our Small Groups separately, Safe Check-In, emailing and texting directly from the program.

Just starting with Seraphim. The support has been very good!

Pros: I like the fact the end user interface is so user friendly! It has a lot of built in tools which I thought would be helpful in supporting our church culture of living in community and several which I hadn't thought of but which have been very helpful.

Cons: As much as I like the software, setup can be confusing. Many of the admin screens look a lot alike but do totally different things. Having to go to 3 or 4 different tiles to set things up can be confusing at first

Overall: very solid management / communication tool

Pros: All the basic functions/ elements in one product with no 'buy up' sales pressure. Constantly improving and upgrading, support is excellent to respond and help with issues

Cons: Minimal Directory options; doesn't put basic info in that one might expect and cannot toggle more or less options to include or exclude.

Overall: All in one spot ministry admin

It's good at what it does, and has plenty of room to grow.

Pros: Directory/Profiles/Groups are very easy to use and very intuitive. Events and Facilities are very flexible. The app integration helps connect us to our congregation more than ever before.

Cons: There are some glitches and bugs that creep about once in a while. But with excellent support, it's rarely an issue. Some aspects have fewer features than one might expect, for instance the mass-mailing aspect of it. But they take feedback towards future features, and are constantly improving.

We had to compile information from several data bases and it was an easy transition.

Pros: Great customer service! It is also accessible from any computer. I love that I can find everything I need in one place instead of searching through different databases or files. Our congregation has enjoyed the ability to access information via their phones.

Cons: It takes multiple steps to use some of the features. This took a bit of getting used to. Some of the process didn't make sense to me at the beginning but now that I use it regularly it is easier to remember the steps.

Overall: All of our info is in one spot. Easy access from anywhere. We love that our members can use this information as well.

Pros: Their customer service is second to none!

Cons: (To my understanding, they are fixing this by May 2017) Currently the software is completely cloud based and runs on Silverlight. It does not easily work with Chrome, although there is a workaround. Also, the display does not work completely on qualities less than 1080p. That was a bit of a hassle for some of our older monitors/computers.

Overall: We have been using Seraphim for a little over a year now. The migration of information from our former ChMS was quite simple and they were careful to make sure that everything was correct. It wasn't just a dump of data, but rather a person worked closely with us to be sure that everything transferred well.
The features of the program have transformed the way we "do ministry" and we are still adding aspects of Seraphim to our daily lives every week. They are at the cutting edge of church technology and are adding and adapting features all the time. You can tell they are serious about getting this right and staying on the front lines. Plus, the user interface is very intuitive and clean looking. It makes even the most complex of tasks seem quite easy.
By far though, the standout feature of this company is its customer support. Their website interface for customer support is informative and helpful, but the personal touch is where all the difference is made. When you call, you talk to a person that knows you and knows how to solve your issue. I once had a problem with a smartform for a large event we were hosting and the PRESIDENT OF THE COMPANY spent time out of his weekend to make sure it was solved (Saturday and Sunday). Even if you do find a piece of software that works better, which I don't think you will, I can guarantee you won't find a company that cares more about making things right and keeping you happy with their product. That is invaluable!

Recommendations to other buyers: Try the program demo and give them a chance to come demo it for you in person, if possible. I wasn't sold on first glance, but they took the time to visit our church twice to demo it and prove they are serious about their customers. I was sold and can't imagine ever using another company.

Comments: Our church has been using Seraphim Software for 12 months now and are so glad with the choice we made. Seraphim has eliminated the need for several other software programs because it is helping us do Children's Check-In, tithing records, keeping a church data base, online directory, etc. Everything being in one place and available wherever there is internet access has been huge for our pastors and administrative staff.
