Pros
With only one application we are able to:
- manage the context sensitive online help for our eC-messenger application
- host the online manuals, and
- create PDFs out of any content
The Helpserver client is easy to use and the server updates in a convenient way.
Multiple languages are supported as well as different access-levels for read/write access. If content changes, the previous version is archived and available if necessary.
Helpserver allows several authors to work in parallel from from our offices in Germany, France and United Kingdom.
Cons
at the moment I cannot really think of a disadvantage.
Maybe LDAP support would allow a more convenient user management.
Overall
We use HelpServer since late 2005.
Of course in the beginning Helpserver had some teething problems but we were always able to see the capabilities of Helpserver.
In the meantime Helpserver has developed to a mature application. Nowadays we use it not only to host the online manual to our customers but also for internal documentations.
Last but not least we have to mention the great work of the support. Our requests are always answered fast and very competent.
We recommend Helpserver for all kinds of documentation purposes.
