Pros

I've used DMXReady Site Engine Manager for several websites, and have found them easy to use, for me and my clients.

And v2 seems even easier. I love the slick back-end interface, and plugging in other v2 apps is easier than ever before (there is even an easy way to add v1 apps, so you don't have to upgrade all your apps at once -- a nice touch, I thought.)

I think the most important aspects of this app is that the database is built in. I've done some WordPress installations, so I know what is involved with going into your server and creating a database. It's not hard for the average web developer, but it is certainly not easy for do-it-yourselfers. DMXReady CMS is perfect for people who want to host their website, but don't want all the back-end hassles.

I also like how easy it is to manage. You can edit the HTML, AJAX, and CSS from within the CMS, which makes changing code fast and easy. I also love the built-in SEO tools that make it easier for Google to find the website.

Cons

The only con I can see is that it still takes a bit of work to change the design and layout of the website. Again, not difficult for the web designer, but the DIY web owner might be a little overwhelmed by this, which is why I gave only three stars for "Ease of Implementation".

But in all fairness I guess, what CMS out there doesn't require a designer at some point? I think that's where DMXReady really picks up the slack too -- they have a list of professional services to help you install and design your website. I understand too that there are new ways to skin the website coming out soon (it may be out already).

So maybe I'm being too hard here. If there was a web owner who wanted to try building their own CMS website, DMXReady CMS v2 is probably better than many PHP-based software that requires database setup, etc. With the DMXReady support (better than most PHP solutions), they're always there to help if you get stuck.

Overall

Admittedly, I've only tried the demo for this one (so far), but I've used enough DMXReady products to spot the differences and see how far they've upgraded to reach this v2 level.

I think this is perfect for the DIY web owner who wants to build a website on their own and the web designer who wants to build an easy-to-use CMS for clients. If you are planning to build a CMS from scratch or upgrade from an existing site, DMXReady CMS v2 is definitely worth a close look.
