Pros
Capability to create reports. Ease of updating and moving names to a new family, etc. The option to print a label/envelope.
I really love the way you can choose a defined category and create reports. Ex. Teens - a report can be generated male/female, grade 7-9/10-12, by age, etc.
Cons
The capability to generate an undefined search would be quite valuable. In regard to printing out reports, I would like to be able to create a report in another form other than a read-only adobe. Sometime I want to be able to cut & paste items and this doesn't give me the freedom to do so.
Overall
We don't really use the financial portion of this program, so I cannot address it.
The portion I do use, I've come to really utilize it in a positive way. Lets just say, I've really enjoyed becoming smarter than the program and been creative in what it has to offer me to do so.

BTW, Reports can be generated in Word, Html, Txt format in addition to PDF and Email. Look for these options when you click to save a report. Call the help desk if you don't see it.

good features. great that it combines membership and contribution management in one.
Cons
import tool was poor - too constraining, didn't allow you to bring in data which you had and then had to rekey. SK writer needs upgrading to do more like utilize text boxes for easy formatting etc. Gui can use some enhancment - a bit too busy.
Overall
good tool but I find myself having to revert back to external tools like Word to do mail merge and other functions that cant be done in SK. So I am still at 1st base .... only now, I have spent hundreds of dollars to replace the data repository that i had been using for free. Not very happy about that.

Fortunately, Servant Keeper DOES have built in mail merge capability with the built in word processor SK Writer, so this will make your life much easier. We have some videos on our site demonstrating this. If you have any additional questions give us a call or email.
I'm surprised the import tool did not work for you as it works for hundreds of churches who convert their data each month, however that surely doesn't make you feel any better.

We are a mission church of 275 baptized members and I see that there is plenty of room for growth with this software not only in numbers but in features.
Cons

It works, the last software we used was not very user friendly. I like the ease of use, example don't like the title or name of a entry just change that heading or title with a right click of the mouse, type in new heading and done. Easy.

? What cons ? I have not worked with program all that much, but when I have, I see nothing negitive.

I highly recommend "Servant Keeper" to any church thinking of an upgrade from an older version or starting over with new software. A+

I don't have many programs to compare this to but the program we were using prior to this and the one I learned on made me crazy. SK has made my job much easier and faster. Tech Support is excellent. Program updates are always available and if something is not working right the department that programs always listens and makes quick fixes. Cons
Printing contribution letters for Individuals with the same address as their parents can be confusing. And moving members from one class to another can be time consuming.

System tracks basic information well and is conveniently in one location.
Cons
Making changes in one area does not automatically transfer to other areas, lists, groups, etc. We seem to have difficulty in recalling and/or making changes to Batches once they are posted.

It does exactly what we need it to. It has helped our church grow by being able to keep track of people, who is here and who is not, visitors, etc.
I love the instruction manual. If I need to know how to do something it is really easy to understand. You do not have to be a computer whiz to use the program. It is very easy!!!

In Servant Keeper 5 the types of contribution reports are llimited. Sometimes contributors want to know what they have given to a specific fund during a certain period and it would be good if a customized report could be generated.

We used version 5 far too long & were only using the Contributions module on a single PC when I assumed the position in August 2008. We then upgraded to version 6 & also purchased the Remote module for me at home & I began to learn the Membership module to train our office secretary at church on the Host. It made the task of pledges & contributions very simple. It takes no time at all. I can print (to hand out) or email quarterly giving statements based on the members' choice.
The secretary has learned the Membership module & has printed our first membership directory this summer with Blue Squirrel.
The best feature for us is the ability to keep everyone in one database without using spreadsheets or lists for mailings, directories, prayer chains, etc. Previously the Contributions records were updated independently of the Membership Records, which was double work & cause for errors. The profile pages have plenty of data fields for flexibility.
Cons
The church & I use Mac computers so a used PC was donated for the office & I'm using an old PC at home for Remote access.
Although we are using attendance for worship services we have not utilized many of the features yet such as Events. We have not done a picture directory either.
The Pastor has not used it although I set up a user ID for him, when desired.
Overall
I have found the customer support personnel very knowledgeable & helpful. I highly recommendation this church software.

It seems to be fairly easy to use and offers a lot of fields. I also like the contribution side of it. It's fairly easy and you can add notes when entering a contribution which comes in handy.
Cons
Setting up groups can be confusing sometimes. I wish it had a financial side to it with payroll. We currently use Quicken but it does not offer payroll anymore. It would be nice to have everything in one neat package.

This software is simple to use and offers reports that can be customized to meet the needs of the different ministries in our church. The contribution module is very easy to use and reliable. Backing it up is simple ensuring safe records when the unexpected happens.
Cons
Creating more advanced customized reports is a little difficult until you are used to the software.
Overall
I highly recommend Servant Keeper. We were so blessed to have the this software program in '07 when our church was burned in the wildfires. The backup was uploaded to my laptop and we were able to access contact information for the people from our church that had been evacuated. We called cell phones made sure people that had been evacuated had a place to stay and were were able to search by address to find people from our church whose homes had burned down so we could help them. It also allowed us to continue church business from my laptop with no lost data while the church was being rebuilt.
This software has truly been a blessing to our church.

This software is extremely user friendly. I've used it for many, many years and have trained multiple coworkers and volunteers to use it when they substitute for me. Our ministers were able to learn it quickly and utilize it often. I especially love the adaptibility of the various fields and have customized them for our use frequently. The tech support is outstanding as well. Everything I have asked for in new versions has appeared in the updates. They are very responsive to ministry needs!
Cons
I don't use this software to track our visitors because our needs for reporting are different from what they have available.
Overall
I have used Servant Keeper for at least 16 years and can't praise it enough. I have been able to produce directories, attendance reports and other reports with ease. I tell everyone that Servant Keeper makes me look good and super efficient!

It is very user friendly and more well organized in comparison to others I've tried. Help is easy to understand. The contribution page allows you to see what you're doing without having to go to different screens. Customer support exceeds my expectations. You always get to talk to a person rather than research an information database.

Typing in the words to log on repeatedly is distracting.

I have tried 3 different types of software for church management. Although they all advertised that they were user-friendly, the others were difficult to understand and demanded that you do things their way. I kept searching for something that was easier to learn and that would meet our specific needs. When I tried Servant Keeper, I recognized that this software would allow me to personalize the entry of the contributions so that anyone who would need to look at the books could understand it. The Servant Keeper experience is definitely superior to other brands I've tried.

Bernadette has been above and beyond helpful in our decision making process! There was no "sales" pressure, and she was definitely looking out for what our church needed most.

Very easy to install and use. Servant Keeper makes life very easy because of things like ease in going from one program to the next. Ex. Inputting visitor's contributions takes just one stroke and you are in membership inputting them as a visitor to use for contributions. To input the entire church is simple because of the ease in the membership entry program. The program makes it simple to keep track of visitors. Overall the program is very simple to operate and very necessary for keeping the church current at all times.

Servant Keeper is much more user friendly than our previous system. Installation and transferring data was without a hitch and well worth the investment of time. We have eliminated yearly contract fees and now have a system that actually meets our needs and is easy to use. We've experienced great tech support to get over our initial learning curve.
Cons
Would like to have training videos available for those who don't have a workshop in their area or so they don't have to wait for training. The sooner all the SK users at a location begin to increase their effectivenes and productivity the sooner they will appreciate the value of SK and truly use the product as designed. Short individual modules by topic would put this over the top.

We are very glad that we chose Servant Keeper as our Church Management Software.

The only thing I am wondering is if when you change an address for the Head of Household, is there a setting that will automatically change the whole families address instead of changing them each one by one?

Cons
Report module will not allow selection of individuals or families to send emails to or for other needs. Small group selections need to be improved upon. Having used Shelby, their reports area is more advanced.

I'm fairly new to SK. But have talked with Sales Rep (Bernadette) and help desk people for months leading up to purchase. I'm very happy with most everything. Especially the ease of contacting help desk. Although some of my questions weren't always resolved, They are always available when I need them. And are patient. I also LOVE that you have a working chat feature. I'm still working on adding information into the system. So far it's working well.
Cons
Haven't been able to resolve one technical issue yet relating to "the publisher not being able to be verified." Apparently it's because I used microsoft. The Help desk doesn't seem to readily have the answer. I was told to check into the user forum. Although I think I need to press the issue more with help desk. They've informed me that an IT person on my end will need to work on this issue. I'm hoping the help desk can work to have more of an answer for this problem in the future. Since apparently it's a common one.
Overall
Excellent. I'm very pleased with all aspects of SK. I mainly switched because of the Customer Service. That is number 1 in priorities for me.

I had worked with it at my previous church position and I liked it so well that I asked for it at this church!

The cons would be just a few things that I wish it would do that it won't. I don't like that you cannot enter just the month and year or just the year on salvation and baptism. Many people do not know the day.

The program is very easy to use! I love the fact that all the information is in one place and ready to be accessed immediately!
The extra fields are nice, because we can somewhat tailor the program to what we need!
Cons
Only one person can use it at a time, unless you are networked.
For our needs, some of the fields are not necessary and fields we actually use are not listed (see pros).
Some of the technical help, wasn't helpful.
Overall
I would recommend this program to any one who needs a great, easy way to keep up with the people in their ministry and church.
I highly recommend getting the book (if you are a visual person).

We LOVE Servant Keeper. Super easy to use....even if you are not a computer person. From mailing labels to attendance tracking, it has made our life so much easier...and you just can't beat the price. With the other software we were using, we called technical support several times a month. Since we've switched to Servant Keeper, we called once....we when were making the switch. Great product!
Cons
The only problem we've had is with attendance. When running the reports, the reports only show who has been at church....not those missing. A little confusing at first, but we've figured out and are working around that!
Overall
I would recommend this for any church looking to track attendance and contributions.

Pros
Servant Keeper is very user friendly and is excellent for any church type operation. We are using it for record keeping with our ministers and churches of the state of Tennessee.
Cons
We feel tech support should be for a longer term when you first purchase the software or when you purchase an update.
Overall
We would highly recommend Servantkeeper for any church, church organization, or group that wants to track various catagories and groups with significant profile requirements.

So simple to add things, change fields, find people, send bulk email, mailings ect... To up date the sunday school roster was so easy I thought I messed it up! Everthing is so easy to use and navigate through. I do get my job done in half the time! I LOVE IT!
Cons
The only thing I can think of is adding our people to it. Being a new user and having to put our whole church in one at a time and then adding the sunday school classes seprately in groups not hard just repetitive. But that is it!
Overall
Buy it! You won't be dissapointed!

Pros
I bought Servant Keeper in 1997 because it was the most powerful most affordable church management system. I bought it for the same reason while in two other churches and I helped my local denominational office purchase it as well.
Besides the affordability, the best feature is that you can customize any of the fields to your on situation or church. This gives you freedom to create groups, searches and the data any way you need or want. It is THE best way to email any small group or your entire membership.
I would recommend Servant Keeper to any church for managing their memebership data without hesitation; it is simply the best on the market.
Cons
Because S/K is so powerful, it can be a little over whelming at first, but anyone can learn to do the basic functions quickly, even if they are not strong in computers.
It is a little difficult to manage with multi-users in multi-locations. We have volunteers using it and sometimes in their home. I wish there was a backup system that could be use over the internet some how. This is my only complaint, but we have found a work around to solve this issue with us.
Overall
It does matter if you are a small church with limited staff or a large church with multi-users, Servant Keeper will simplify your data management in every way.

Pros
Servant Keeper is very intuitive. I was able to start using it before I read the documentation or watched the webinar. (Not that I recommend that to the other users.)
I love the flexibilty of being able to change the names of fields and add and delete items from the drop down lists.
The offsite contribultion tool is wonderful. It allows our volunteer people to work from home, which gives them the flexibilty they need to work around their jobs and other life commitments.
The Check-In module has transformed our church. By using it to check in children for Children's Church, we are able to collect information about non- members when they first attend Citadel and reach out to them through other ministries.
Cons
Can't think of any.
Overall
I would like more "extra fields" and "extra lists" on the Profile page.(I'm greedy) so that we can organize better and devote the "More Info" page to a single category of information.
