Pros

We implemented EDI in 2010 when we were overloaded with tool transfers. Our legacy system was not integrated within EIQ therefore we had to manually input each shipment. The manual system was causing us to stay late past 10:00 pm and increase in clerical errors. After EDI was implemented, we were able to have the shipping department take full control of all outbound EDI transactions. The automation and removal of manual intervention directly impacted our performance. In addition, our purchasing department was able to spend more time on analysis and follow up rather than data entry.

Cons

The cost is a bit high howevert for a company that uses EDI on a daily basis, will see an ROI of less than 12 months if not sooner.

Overall

I would highly recommend the EDI module for any company who needs to use EDI on a daily basis. The support from IQMS and their EDI department is the best in the industry. We are asking more non-edi customers to get on board as this makes both companies more lean!!!

Pros

IQMS EDI Module has met all of our company's EDI needs even though we have a wide variety of customer industries, such as automotive, telecommunications, appliciances, etc. Each of these customer industries have their own EDI expectations and with IQMS EDI module we have been able to meet all requirements. Even with customers who do not use traditional EDI, we have been able to import their spreadsheets for orders via the IQMS Order/Entry Import feature. IQMS support, not only for their EDI module, but all modules, gets an A+ in my book.

Cons

The version of IQMS that we are using is not the most current so this may be fixed in the latest version, I would like to see more fields available in the sales order to store needed EDI information from customers.

Overall

IQMS EDI module will meet all of your EDI requirements. I would recommend using it.

Pros

The ability to have orders processed and entered automatically into IQ saves hours and eliminates possible keystroke errors. Besides traditional EDI files, we also import spreadsheet files into this module. The help support on this module is excellent.

Cons

The cost in setting up a trading partner and the transaction sets for them can add up quickly. Also, when updating IQ software versions, we have had to tweak the trading partners to get them to function properly.

Overall

Once the trading partners are set up this module works with little interaction from our personnel. With E-server running in the background, everything can be done automatically. This module is a must have.

Pros

Superior service from implementation to support.
Once set up, the program runs itself.
Low maintenance.
Only issues have stemmed from changes on the customers end.
Very professional knowledgeable support personnel
The time savings alone can pay for itself depending on the volume with the Customer.

Cons

The costs to add additional User licenses / trading partners can sometimes be a hurdle.

Overall

IQs EDI translator is top notch!

Purchased separately, a third party vendor is required to send and receive the files between you and your trading partners.
eServer is definitely worth the investment. it allows e-mails and file transfers to be automatic.

Pros

The EDI process is fast, efficient, and accurately replicates manual processes in an automated fashion. I have been thoroughly impressed with this module for EIQ.

Cons

The cost is a bit of a barrier especially if you are just starting up. However, the more customers / vendors you can get to utilize EDI it quickly recoups the investment. Depending on the volume one customer may be enough considering how much time is saved.

Overall

EDI from IQMS is top notch. The support team is fantastic and it is amazing what they can do to make a customized solution to fit your needs.

Pros

Once you are in production with the trading partner it requires very little interaction. The support that IQMS provides on EDI is phenomenal.

Cons

There is a bit of a learning curve for new users to implement a trading partner. Once you have done this a few times the process becomes much easier.

Overall

Koller Enterprises has over 15 trading partners and although the cost to create the templates seems high, it's well worth the money.

Pros

90% of our Sales orders come in via EDI. This includes .csv and X12 format. Without the EDI module and its automated partner application ESERVER we would waste hours trying to get our customer demand into the system. With the EDI module information is updated in the system accurately and efficiently.

Cons

EDI does not perform electronic communications with trading partners. A third party vendor is usually required to send and receive the files between you and your trading partners. This must be purchased separately. Also, Transaction Templates and Trading Partner expenses can add up if you do not have a resource in house.

Overall

KI engaged the IQMS Professional Services Group to help facilitate our implementation of EDI. Their Application Specialists were able to help us with the setup, implementation and training required for a smooth transition.

KI continues to utilize the eServer functionality whenever possible. eServer allows for continuous background processing of inbound and outbound EDI transactions. E-mails and file transfers are automatic and require less manual maintenance.

Pros

Runs good with entire ERP package

Cons

When you have a customer that you need EDI templates for that IQMS hasn't done any for yet it takes some time to get it completed correctly

Overall

If your on the IQMS software system and you have a customer that requires EDI either via Internet or a third party van IQMS EDI can usually get it to work. This then saves you from data entry errors and TIME.
