Pros

Streamlines the entire service department. Saves time, money and aggravation. We used to have to input and post every invoice by hand.....Now, with mobile dispatching our guys can receive a dispatch, update their status, complete an invoice and collect payment without ever calling or returning to the office.

Cons

Takes some time to learn but once you do there is no turning back.

Overall

Stop shopping around and sign up with Desco today. It will pay for itself almost immediately and change the way your business operates.

Not a bad program. It's easy to use once you get use to it. Starting out was hard. It was even harder for my collegues who had to switch over from the old program.

The dispatch board is really easy to use.

Cons

I've been asked to send in a review. Talked to some people in our company and asked them for their view. The number one suggestion was for the ability to be in a quote be and still able to copy the parts and and materials over to another quote, change the quote number, change teh type of quote AND have the ability to pull a GENERAL quote, give it a quote number, customer and give it materials and labor specific to that job.

An UNDO button.

I'd like to be able to see the date that the price was last changed for an item in the computer.

Overall this was a good product. Most days I would recommend it to others.

Pros

Fairly easy to use. Many features. Like the Tech route planning, remote dispatching and ability for techs to receive updates, work orders and receive payments while on-site. Very good support and everyone is knowlegeable on the product. ESC has worked to respond to the user's request for changes/enhancements.

Cons

Help menu needs to be easier to use. Generating reports is very difficult. Hard to find what report will give the data you are looking for. Needs to be much more user friendly. The many features are great but most of the time it is difficult to figure out how to use.

Overall

Great support and folks to work with. Like the ESC application. Make it easier to use.

I'm going to comment mostly on the tech support available, as a "beginner"... using this type of software I knew nothing about it's uses or functions. This software along with the amazing tech support has turned me into a valued employee!

Cons

Tutorial videos aren't the greatest!

If the compnay invested some time in a few simple modifications, they could find a huge market in the propane industry as no one would be competing with them at their price/effectiveness point.

Ties in with QB and makes the accounting effort seamless.

Cons

Compnay is not good at adjusting software to meet a "new and different' need eventhough they promised to be aggressive in the effort -- they are not. Ie - Still can not print off dispatch tickets that are not 8 1/2 X 11

Software is not easy for use with reoccuring customers, tank rentals, keep full accounts

Hard to edit equipment entry data. often have to delete and re-enter

Reports are limited and not easily configured

Collection manager does not work if you use QB

The integration to ESC and qb is some what disappointing, ie you have to put product prices in both systesm, sales tax and terms do not transfer across, and all customer invoice events have to occur in ESC

Overall

There is no Propane software that comes close to the features in this system for any price below $20,000.

That being said, this software is a patch work system to use due to some software limits and the compnay's inability/unwillingness to create a bit more flexable set up for 'non-service' users. The changes that are needed are minimal.

I am glad I bought it, plan to use it, and its a vast imporvement for my compnay, but someone in the next 2 years will hit the spot for propane vendors and I will convert at that point.

Overall

Recommend this product.

Has some kinks in it but, the tech support team is on the ball.
Although they get a little jammed up and don't get back to you as soon as you like sometimes.
Being in customer service I know how it is.

I can't think of any!

Overall

I would recommend this software to any company from 200,000 to 20 million. If there are size limits we haven't encountered them and know of at least one much larger company that uses ESC. Desco has figured out how to make a stable, well integrated software for a fair price and work very have to keep improving it.

Pros

This version is alot faster than version 10.
I like that you can design some of the interfaces.

Cons

Alot of bugs in this version so far.
We wouldn't have done the beta if version 10 had worked right.

Overall

I would recommend version 11 once all of the bugs are worked out.

Pros

Access to the different modules is much easier, and quicker. Much of the processing is streamlined, and access to doing other transactions is very easy. I was concerned about the accounting module, but it is very comparable to others that I have worked with, and very user friendly. Implementation and conversion was so much easier than I expected.

Cons

Using the mouse instead of tabbing/entering, slows down things a bit. I think we prefer getting around the other way. Also, the company remittance portion of checks, doesn't give enough information. I have to write down the vendor name, date, etc., on our copy for our records, as it doesn't print that info.

Overall

Great software, and support! Considering the circumstances we were under to convert to new software, I don't think we would have gotten as good of service and support from any other providor. I would defintely recommend this software to anyone!

Pros

This program hits just about everything that we need. If it does not, Desco is very easy to get ahold of and work with. Also, their classes and instructors are very good.

Cons

There are some changes we have requested, that have not been done. But, they have all been things we can work with.

Overall

I would definitely recommend them to anyone. We are learning new and better things with Desco and Esc, all the time.

Pros

Esc software has helped our company grow by utilizing the latest technology. I like how the diffeent levels of mobile dispatching are available to fit the company budget. We have improved our profitability by utilizing the many sales reporting functions. Esc has webinars regularly which enable my employees to obtain training on site.

Cons

Does not have a mobile support staff. I would like to see online support through chat would make it quicker for the easier questions, sometimes have to wait a while for a support tech to call back

Overall

If your in the HVAC business and have more than 10 employess ESC is for you

no audit functions, needs better dispatching board and maps, need way to prevent duplicate locations under customers

better dispatch mapping, lose mappoint, way to see all dispatches on a map, maybe at get map button, when you click, it open a google map page with the address filled in,
Scanning of parts on dispatch and parts verification of dispatch through bar code scanning
Way to create a packing list from dispatches
Create a PO field on Customer Locations screen so you can locate a customer by PO, just like search for address, name, etc,
need a way to prevent duplicate locations under a customer or some sort of notification.
Pull documents attached to Customer into Dispatches, so that duplicate documents don't get attached.
need a way to pull equipment from parts list in a dispatch to the equipment screen, maybe some sort of auto fill.

Pros

Does a great job at bringing together dispatching, purchasing and inventory control, invoicing. and accounting. It's definitely contributed to our ability to be more productive. Does a good job Integrating with accounting software. The team at dESCO is responsive and works to continually improve the program.

Cons

Not everything is intuitive. The program can do a lot, but training is needed (and expensive for a small company).

Overall

I would definitely recommend it to others who have businesses that involve servicing customers. It's a powerful program that can contribute a lot.

Pros

Simple and easy to use - integrates with QuickBooks for solid financial information. Has an inventory feature that allows tracking of materials by truck/warehouse with reorder feature. Program allows us to track cutomer information and dispatch our technicians in the field via netbooks where they can view customer history and equipment.

Cons

Once posted it is hard/impossible to change or update cutomer information or invoices with payments attached. Technicians are not able to search cutomer history without creating a dispatch in the field.

Overall

Excellent choice for growing business with need for more information without spending a fortune.

Pros

The amount of customer information available instantly is powerful. Tracking service calls, equipment, invoices, purchases, repair recommendation, dispatch notes, payment history are all recorded and can be retrieved within a couple of seconds. All of which allows us to be confident whenever we speak with our customers. It's equally valuable for tracking inventory, vendor purchases, prices, etc. ESC is the only way to successfully manange service agreements. It takes all of the guess work out and elminates anything from slipping through the cracks. ESC has proven to be our most valuable tool for taking care of our customers.

Cons

It took a little more time than I expected to get up to speed but well worth the effort.

Overall

Excellent product and support!

Pros

ESC is a well rounded product. It does all of the basics that we would want a service dispatching system to do. The best part is that it keeps developing and new features are being added all of the time. We are excited to grow with ESC!

Cons

One limitation that I think that ESC has is that it can not be customized for an individual company. Currently a request has to be made for changes. However, the request will only happen if there are many requests from different users for the same change. Also, I would like to see a deeper integration with their software partners.

Overall

I would highly recommend this software package to everyone.

Pros

TMS did not have a system, everything was manual. This system has allowed me to streamline our processes and keep track of time, materials, etc. We have only begun to tap into all the resources ESC offers.

Cons

I was a user at another company and it was all set up. I had a tough time setting up. It took longer than I anticipated. I would have liked a "think" sheet for the set up. What did I need to think about to set up my company!

Overall

Highly recommend this to all companies looking for a system to use. I have used others and I like the cleanness of this system and now that we are up & running the functionality.

Pros

I really like the ease of ESC, I have used several service software packages in the past and ESC is easy to use and was easy to program to our needs. We run several tech's and work in about 6 states so our needs can be a bit different than some service customers, but I have found that the customer service support that we receive from DESCO has been one of the main reasons that I can get the things I need done as quickly as I need to when I have a question. We are also using the mobile software and we absolutely love this function of the software, its given us so much more time to deal with other things in the office and taken us to a better tracking, billing and compliance system. I would honestly have to say the mobile software was one of the best decisions that we made and it has really moved us forward in the customer service/satisfaction department. And the best part was that the mobile software was super easy to set up and start using. I wish we had brought it on line sooner.

Cons

I wish I had a bit more reporting features and I also hope to see the accounting package out of BETA soon so it will be something we can seriously consider. The peach interface works fine for us tho, but I would love the full package.

Overall

I would most certainly recommend ESC. The support has been great, they really know their product and truly wish to support their customers in a way that makes us happy. That says alot for a company, it means a lot when you dont just become a number after the sale is complete.

*Activities button allows you to navigate from screen to screen with out closing the screen you're working in

*Everything is listed in alphebetical order only - Not a way to change the settings to use with numerical order
*Some items (eg. Job costing) don't have their own Tab and are listed under various tabs

Pros

ESC is good for dispatching and keeping track of inventory and a good overall program, I find using ESC user friendly
Customer Support is very good

Cons

ESC is not very good at keeping reports, I would like to see a better way of running and viewing reports.
Customer Support could be better in their response time and I have found that not all of the support team is as customer user friendly as others and not all of the support team have the same knowledge on the product.

Overall

Yes I would recommend ESC for others to use
