Comments: I work for a non-profit, pediatric clinic as the practice manager. It is really important to us that we have a secure and cloud-based way of storing our patient information. Pros: The level of customization is absolute. You can configure Salesforce to actually work for your company and processes. They keep updating the product on every release and the application market place is huge with a lot of add-ons for the main product.

Cons: Although you can customize everything, doing it is not that easy. You need to work with a certified partner to do it usually. It works, but it is an extra cost on top of the product license. Additionally the user experience and the user interface is a little out dated and it can be a pain sometimes if you are used to modern-looking applications.

Overall: By far one of the most powerful CRMs systems in the world. But setting up Sales force is a pain. The only way of doing it is through their partners and it is usually expensive to hire the best of them.

Recommendations to other buyers: Only work with highly recommended partners. That's the only way to make it work.

Pros: Customization to your needs with (almost) no coding

Cons: Price mainly !! when you get all necessary add-ons to make it great you could be spending per person per month !!

Overall: If you have a big enough team and resources it's worth hiring a salesforce administrator - this person should have experience in your industry to make it all worth.
Salesforce is not a great solution for smaller teams who need a system in "auto pilot"
Making data entry is mandatory is always hard. SO only go for it if you are absolutely confident you can have people adopting the use (it starts with management)

Recommendations to other buyers: There are many other solutions for a fraction of the cost. If is important adapting to other (a lot cheaper) CRMs can be worth

Cons: Must have internet connection to withdraw information.

Overall: I used Salesforce as my primary CRM software when I ran my own business. For one person, and having access remotely from all platforms, the cost, simplicity, and functionality made allowed me to operate my business like a well oiled machine! I have heard of several other small business owners who were very satisfied with their functionality and pricing as well. I have NEVER heard anyone complain about their customer service, for it was always fantastic!

Pros: Ease of use, additional capabilities with purchase of additional modules. Easy reporting capabilities, easy tracking.

Cons: Some functions are not available without the purchase of additional modules. Be sure to ask all the questions up front and know what you are buying versus what you ultimately need. It can get messy to go back to management for more money if you haven't done your homework up front.

Overall: I was on the team reviewing various software offerings for our sales CRM at another company I worked for at the time, FARO Technologies. We took a look at Salesforce along with a number of others. We decided on Salesforce based on the various modules you could add which would give us all the reporting we needed for sales and marketing. As one of the implementation managers, I was pleased with the ease of use in deploying this software. As an end user, I fell in love with it because any report I needed was at my fingertips!

Recommendations to other buyers: Learn to use it's reporting functionality - it's awesome!

Overall: Sales Force has been a great tool for our organization however to receive adequate customer support you must subscribe to a premium level subsciption

Recommendations to other buyers: Start with the most basic versions and then add-on features if needed. Their software is actually more advanced than needed for some organizations so do not be tricked into spending money for no reason

Pros: The marketing pitch, how they sell themselves, Wow!

Cons: The reality of the nightmare it turned out to be. Expensive, old, clunky and out of date.

Overall: We persevered with Salesforce for almost 3 years, before finally leaving, and I am so glad we did. They say you can integrate with anything but these is always a catch that will either require you spend far more money than you would expect, don't work or require major compromises on what you thought you could do. In my opinion, most people that use Salesforce do so because they spent so much money and time to get it working they cannot afford (from either a money or career perspective) to leave, so they say great things because their lives depend on it, don't fall for it. Salesforce have a sales team that turns over every 2~3 years for a reason (This happened to us), probably because they have angry customers are baying for their blood by this time. Do yourself a favour, choose Pipedrive or Hubspot or ANYTHING else and save yourself the time / money and frustrations that come with this platform.

Recommendations to other buyers: Just don't!

Pros: Its ability to integrate with almost anything related to marketing automation, sales, and websites.

Cons: It can be too feature heavy for the average user to really understand how to use every aspect of the platform and they may not get the most out of it.

Overall: If you are in sales, SalesForce is the CRM that dominates the market to help keep your pipeline in tack. I've used it for a year and have used Hubspot CRM in the past. Salesforce has many more functionalities which can be a good thing when talking about integrations, but it can be a bad thing when the average user who is not tech savvy is trying to troubleshoot a problem or add a new customization. Thankfully for me, I have a team of devs and Marketing Technology experts on my team that I can revert any problems too. If it wasn't for them I think I'd be in trouble.

Customer service is generally pretty responsive and is able to help out our questions and fix the problem. The issue here is how many times a user may need to go to customer service just because of how many customizations you can create and all the raw data can be confusing. The new rollout of Salesforce "Lightning" is a great new UI/UX that is much more familiar to today's technology users and not as old school. This really helps put the correct information in front of the user. This way we salespeople are spending less time building out our CRM and more time selling!

Recommendations to other buyers: I have only used group addition not any of the larger scaled versions.

Comments: Salesforce offers all of the classic functionalities one might expect from a CRM tool, but that is hardly the best part. In my opinion, its biggest strength is in its ability to integrate with a host of different complementary tools such as Hubspot, Tout, Discover.org, and many more. As our sales organization evolves and scales, Salesforce allows new tools and applications to be easily added to the existing workflow. The task management function can be improved. Right now it takes quite a bit of manual effort to edit/remove/shift tasks and it is difficult to get an overview of how my week is looking like in terms of the tasks that I have scheduled.

Pros: Their prices are commensurate with the features included in each tier but they do offer a generous trial period.

Cons: Salesforce only permits early cancellation (and pro-rated refund) if they themselves have breached the terms of the contract, and failed to rectify the situation within 30 days.

Overall: I use this CRM for more than just outside sales management, Contact Management, Sales Rep Management, and internal File Management. but I still had a few grunts of disapproval. Their support's team response time in regards to a technical inquiry was acceptable, and the replies were brief, informative, and professional. They do confess to offering better service with higher subscription plans, however, which I take exception to. I expect to get the same level of service no matter how large my company is, unless I am specifically paying more for a premium tech support package.

Recommendations to other buyers: Salesforce only permits early cancellation (and pro-rated refund) if they themselves have breached the terms of the contract, and failed to rectify the situation within 30 days.

Pros: The integration of Salesforce with our other systems and applications has made our work flow much easier and saved us thousands of dollars a year.

Cons: Pro/Con--It's customizable, but will take you sometime to get it the way you want it. Can start to get pricey if you have many, many users using licences.

Overall: Did a massive data migration from Blackbaud/Luminate Online ecosystem -- Couldn't be happier! We have saved money, brought our systems together and don't need a PhD in database to use!

Pros: This software allows a marketer or salesperson or sales leader to get a handle on all current and potential business. It is awesome.

Cons: At a large company, it is hard to enforce consistent use of the product. But that is not the fault of the product, it is sales leadership responsibility to enforce usage.

Overall: I love Salesforce.com. I have also used their add-on Data.com. Both are fantastic. I have used Salesforce.com at a very small company, and also at a large national company. I can't really see doing business without it. I went to their Dreamforce conference a couple years ago and it absolutely changed me as a Director of Marketing -- pushing me to a new level in understanding of marketing challenges and solutions.

Recommendations to other buyers: I recommend attending their annual Dreamforce conference if you can make it. Very valuable learning experience.

Pros: No longer getting tons of e-mail responses. Everything located in the same place

There is an App.

Overall: We use SalesForce to keep in touch with many other companies in the same industry and group members but that are all over the country. It is very nice to be able to post a question or ask for help and hundreds of people in the same group can answer. It is like Facebook for business. No more having to call several different people, just tag them! No more CC 20 people on an e-mail and cluttering your inbox. Just post a statement, and everyone can reply/ comment on SalesForce. It's great

It is a great tool that has massive potential (or so it seems). However, if you don't have a team of dedicated Salesforce staff, it is not easy to really figure out how to take advantage of it all. There are several websites out there to reference, though.

Pros: Develops a list with enough relevant information for me to contact people.

Cons: Some information is out of date or distributed to a point where it is useless.

Overall: I use this in order to locate potential new clients. It is very helpful at generating lists and allowing me to focus that list. It also does a good job of producing relevant information, including address, name, and phone number. Unfortunately some of the numbers are out of date, however it still allows us to contact a large group of people with ease.

Pros: Multiple functionalities

Cons: Price and some UX complications

Overall: I was using Salesforce for almost a year. We were not only using it as our main CRM system, but also modifying it's functionality to fit our sophisticated needs. It is extremely powerful piece of software for complex management of customer accounts, track sales process progress, keep salesmen funnels busy and managed. It is not the easiest software to play with, but that is acceptable (some complication is normal considering high software usability). It is also quite expensive but in my opinion it is money welll spent.

Pros: Really powerful, tons of features, tons of add ons and plug ins.

Cons: A lot of moving parts, can be hard for a novice to manage.

Overall: I've used Salesforce in-house and helped clients set up Salesforce at an agency. It is by far the most powerful tool for sales teams, and it's extremely helpful for marketers as well. The only issues with Salesforce are user errors. It can be hard to keep data clean and uniform and it can be difficult to set up, but if you have a capable leader at the helm and some budget to get assistance when necessary, it's a slam dunk.

Recommendations to other buyers: Don't be afraid of getting additional support when you sign on. It can pay dividends to get it set up appropriately to begin with.

- by and large, customers and partners are very positive about the technology
- good benefits and perqs
- hip urban culture at HQ
- a chart-your-own-course mentality that rewards those who aggressively seek out the job they want and pursue it, or sometimes even create it

Pros: Efficient workflows that automates daily macro work. The ability to setup template emails for reoccuring FAQs is key for our Support team. The insight gained by reporting on client trends is terrific and beneficial to our Support, Sales and Account Management teams. Community, the client facing help feature is amazing for driving client self help.

Cons: Setup can be difficult with out an implementation team - 3rd party vendor. SalesForce does not offer setup service or customer support.

Overall: SalesForce helps our company better understand our clients needs by tracking trends in sales, support cases and email campaigns. Pros: I am not using it a lot at this point, but I have heard nothing but good reviews from everyone else. We had been using Parature for our Support Center and tracking Support tickets and it was sorely inadequate. Salesforce has all we need to handle our customers - from sale to support.

Cons: Our initial training was not adequate. I believe it was handled by a third party but created more confusion than anything else. And, internally, we have the administration somewhat on lockdown so that isn't always as efficient as it could be. But, it's all still new for us so we're learning.

Overall: We are in the beginning phase of integration with Litmos (LMS) and Salesforce. Once this is complete, this will make things much easier for our customers. They will be directed to our knowledge base upon entering a ticket into our Support Center. This should cut down on calls to our Reps who handle such troubleshooting. We are looking forward to using the full functionality of Salesforce with Litmos.

Recommendations to other buyers: Check it out - it truly can handle everything (sale to support). And, everyone seems to be using Salesforce so there is no threat that it will "go away" any time soon. This is always a consideration in these days of newer and developing technology.

Comments: As a new Salesforce admin, I have had the chance to look deep into the product as we implement it within our company. I hope that these observations will help others in their search for a CRM tool.
The good :
We implemented Service Cloud for our technical team, and found the setup to be very simple after using Salesforce's Trailhead site to guide us through the different settings and options. we find that 90% of our questions can be found my reviewing the trailhead modules and highly recommend it to any Salesforce user.
The bad:
Getting your head wrapped around the functionality of the force.com engine can be a challenge if you have never done any coding before. It can be complex but allows you the freedom to write scripts for multiple levels of functionality.

Overall, Salesforce , from an admin/developer perspective is a fantastic CRM tool and offers multiple layers of functionality. you may need to consult the Trailhead site and community in order to familiarize yourself with the multitude of customization options and best practice methods for implementation however.

Comments: We have been trying to garner leads for our sales teams to go after. The software made it incredibly easy to keep track of and update any leads that we were working on. Multiple users could enter information into the entries on the system and that way, everyone was on the same page.

Pros: 1. Issue tracking (which can be used by any team e.g. pre-sales or issue tracking)
2. Ability to customize the screens and workflows.

Cons: 1. Interface with other tools.
2. Quality of UI(but not at risk of being a resource heavy site -- with people using browsers on PCs, Tablets, as well as mobile(iOS/Andriod).

Overall: This tool(especially when it was launched), was almost God-send.

With the real-time tracking, this tool brought in lot of automation and issue tracking features which could be used by any team be it pre-sales, opportunity tracking or just plan customer issue tracking. It was a superb boost to team productivity.

A couple of cons:
1. Since inception the UI or addition of new features, hasn't kept up much. With competition catching and so many freeware tools around - would like to see improvement in this front.
2. Interface with other tools doesn't have a lot of documentation - not sure if this is a business decision, but a good interface surely helps.
3. Having good user forums, which I find are the best platform for finding workarounds and getting new tips and tricks.

The (very large) elephant.
