Pros

Our school was looking for a learning management system that was comprehensive, evolving, easy to use from the teacher, student and parent views and that had great customer service! We found a match with Haiku LMS! In just a few weeks teachers had customized pages providing calendar, homework, support links, photos, videos, and more. We are now looking to take advantage of the wiki and portfolio additions to the system. Even teachers who were reticent because they did not feel "tech savvy", are succeeding. Student's frequently ask, "Can you post that on Haiku?"
This is not just a site to post homework- the discussion "board" and polls are an inventive way for students' to express themselves on a topic! Parents love Haiku as well! They know what is going on in class in terms of homework, supplementary and support materials posted on the page and announcements they receive to their email. They can even email the teacher through Haiku!!! So, with Haiku everybody wins!

Cons

So far the only "con" I can see, is my own limitations in
utilizing all of the facets of Haiku! But I will get there!

Overall

If you try it, you will like it and the customer service
is unbelievable! Phone calls, emails, video "how to's",
are the norm with this innovative company!

Pros

Everything I need in one place to connect, share, and easily build sites that are effective for my teaching. Interactivity between my students and myself has increased dramatically. Students love the ease of the site and the capability to work on their terms. I love using this system.

Cons

Some of the systems in my school district don't play nice with Haiku, but I believe that to be a district issue and not a Haiku issue.

Overall

If you are a teacher and would like something powerful yet incredibly simple to use, this system is right for you. I started using Haiku two years ago, and since that time have recruited our district to purchase it for all our teachers. In a short time span we have over 2500 accounts for students, parents, and teachers.

Pros

So simple to use. I used their tutorial videos, and was set to go.
Customer service is OUTSTANDING. When I have a question/problem, I usually have an answer/response in a few minutes. I am always updated on progress.
They take suggestions from teachers and students--we present a wish/need/request, and they usually find a way to make it work. In just the few months I have been using it, they have implemented suggestions from "real users."

Cons

I don't have any cons because so far every suggestion I have had to make Haiku better has already been implemented over the summer or is being added in the future.

Overall

This is an amazing LMS that students, parents, and teachers love. It is user-friendly, and ties directly to the way our students (21st Century Learners) learn. I highly recommend Haiku to districts of any size and to teachers of any level.
