Pros
*Excellent customer service with quick response time to your questions and concerns. If they do not have an answer to your question, they research it until they do and follow-up with you quickly.
*Amazing competitive rates.
*Great software features such as, but not limited to: Direct links to pre-register your patients from your website, easy-to-use scheduling calendar, inter-office messaging system, ability to upload patient records and insurance cards, ability to keep track of authorizations and pre-certifications, and the ability to charge patient's credit cards directly through TheraSoft with First Data Merchant.
*Iphone app
*Remote access to your patients' accounts no matter where you are at.
*Extremely user-friendly filing of electronic or paper claims submission.
Cons
*The accounting reports could be better in regards to end of month reporting (insurance plus patient payments).
*Billing statements can be very time consuming if you deal with a lot of divorced parents and have to seperate the bill up between parties.
*Sometimes the authorization tracking system is off and inaccurate and it does not alert you when you are low on visits.
Overall
We have been using TheraSoft for approximately a year now and have been very pleased with its overall performance. You cannot beat their outstanding customer service and software features for such a great price! I highly recommend trying this company out.

Pros
Very comprehensive feature list that covers all of what I would like in a practice management/ emr program. They have thought through and produced a package that integrates what is needed. However, there are some serious problems with the software and company to be aware of.
Cons
The biggest problem is the overall flow of the software. It requires you to select a function and then the client, rather than tracking one client through all functions as most therapists and other software do (i.e. mark attendance, write a note, collect fee, schedule next session, then move on to the next client). I lasted one day before I quite. The lack of a free trial and no screen shots should have been my first clue. The complexity and poor ergonomics of the software make the use of all the features frustrating and a hinderance. The software is full of errors in the menus and their mobile app for scheduling still does not work after months of reporting the problem. After investing hours of my time training and learning just the basics of the software, it was clearly not going to work for me. After giving more of my time to give them a detailed review I was told that they would not refund any of the $760 spent getting up to speed on something I never was able to use. Wow!!
Overall
You better be sure this software is tolerable to you before you buy it which, honestly, you can't be sure until you pay your money to try. Be prepared to be out at least $500 dollars if you change your mind because by the time you learn the program and change your mind, you will be out of their "policy window" for any refund. Clever strategy on their part financially, but a horrid way to treat a (now former) customer.

Pros
Pros are numerous: ease of use, library of notes and treatment plans. Helped me streamline my biling process while incorporating my therapuetic notes. I like that it is stored securely away from my office. Customer service was and is excellent-always appreciate the time they take with me when I goof up! Very affordable as well.
Cons
At times the system is not as smooth as I would like it-moving from screen to screen can be frustrating. The reports are helpful, especially aging billing and notes but it takes a bit of "poking" around to find the right one. I would like the area where you note the next appt to synch with the calendar.
Overall
Would highly recommend for any solo practitioner such as myself-helps keep me on task, I get paid faster and the client file is up to date. Plan accordingly to switch over to system so there is little lag time for you in notes or pay.

Pros
Very useful in the multidimensional format covering scheduling, bookkeeping, electronic billing, payment tracking, note writing, report writing, ease of use in transferring data to other software programs including Microsoft Office. Technical support has been fast and accurate over the last 6 months of use.
Cons
Schedule refresh is a little slow.
Overall
This stand a lone product can literally save a private practice by condensing all aspects of the work into one simple to use and well designed web application. Other software programs has become obsolete in comparison to this product. Also the team is friendly and has a strong work ethic. Helping get the work done is obviously their passion. Therasoftonline has saved me money and helped me keep the lights on!

Cons
The calendar is hard to use, as you cannot make changes quickly. Also as a practice that does evaluation and needs to sometimes schedule two apts at the same time, it will not let you do so. A calendar more like google's would be great!!!
Billing reports can be difficult to use and often have oddities (ie. not in date order).
Occasional gliches (i.e. prints parent instead of client name on the bill if credit card option is endorsed).
Progress notes- only have spell check if you are using Mozilla and spell check does not automatically fix commonly mispelled words.
Overall
Meets my billing needs. I would like to see changes so that I can use the program for more of my practice's needs.

Pros
Therasoft is a awesome program for all counselors and therapist. It helps with monthly reports, billing, and it makes the intake process a lot easier. Being able to have your entire office every where you go is more than an awesome deal to have. It is also affordable unlike many of your other software providers out there.
Cons
The only disadvantage of the program is that it does not have the Addiction Severity Index (ASI) loaded onto the system.
Overall
It's a must have for any cousnelor or therapist that has private practives or treatment programs.

affordable, user friendly, good customer service, speedy response to problems, easy insurance filing, tailored to mental health, good initial training

calendar doesn't separate hours making it more difficult to see what hours are open. Not able to set some individual preferences on program like status of appointment.
Overall
I would recommend this to any mental health therapist or psychologist. It is tailored to this profession and makes the process of checking in a client, filing progress notes and filing insurance as painless as possible.
I am not at all business oriented and I have a business manager who works about 10 hours a week confirming appointments and putting in insurance payments, calling insurance companies, etc. Before Therasoftonline, I was with another software company and she had to work about 25 hours a week because she had to do much of the work I can now do with the click of a button at the end of each session. So I save money with her as well.

Therasoft takes advantage of web-based technology and the "cloud" environment in three major ways: First, the system seamlessly integrates appointments and calendar functions, billing functions (electronic billing, electronic EOBs), credit card, and EMR chart components. Second, the Therasoft system integrates the familiar features of, and interfaces with, popular information management systems like Google Apps, as well as the convenient features of many PDAs. Third, Therasoft builds in the modular flexibility which is needed for the diverse user settings; users can modify intake forms and procedures, upload their own data (including faxes and other images), and post their own custom forms to patient charts. Users can also generate a variety of database reports. Therasoft also integrates with manual billing and electronic billing processing services,and patient eligibility and benefits certification services.
Cons
The biggest con of the Therasoft system is that it is on the cutting edge of web-based systems and is, consequently rough around a few edges. Whereas all the components operate as advertised, there are idiosyncrasies within functions that one wishes were more smoothly operational. For example, Therasoft provides an innovative display method for the main calendar that allows users to see, at a glance, the status of every appointment and allows single click updates of attendance, billing, and insurance functions. However, changing appointment characteristics (for example repeat appointment changes) can involve an unnecessarily complex series of steps. Similarly, the vast array of operations and data displays available for patients can be overwhelming for first time users. Fortunately, Therasoft provides free hands-on training for new users.
Overall
Therasoft offers a sophisticated integration of all the main functions of a busy psychotherapy practice and is scalable to the size of the practice. The software itself incorporates easy user access to functions, customization of documents and the ability to upload your own documents. It is state-of-the-art in terms of web usage, HIPAA security & backup, and integration with external software and human billing systems. They provide a good cost-benefit ratio, especially since one does not have to download or maintain software on one's own computer. The current version is in its final development stages which provides a few rough edges but is full functionality. Fortunately the strength of the design and implementation so far suggest that a smoothly running, user-friendly system is just around the corner.

There is a glitch whereby on the list of registered patients, one must go to view all clients to select the desired patient because the prepopulated section yields an unwanted duplicate.
EAP insurors don't all accept electronic billing yet.
One often has to clck a second time to effect a screen change.
Overall
Outstanding program designed just for the needs of therapists. My biggest problem is trying to keep up with my number of referrals but I am in process of hiring additional staff. It's like my iphone in that after using it a year, there are still aspects for me to learn.

We have been very pleased with Therasoft, Jas, and Traci. They have been great to answer any question, fix or adapt things we request and make therasoft a wonderful experience.
Cons
Big learning curve and some features that are not flexible do to the platform and our picky wishes.

Therasoft Online is the only program you will EVER need to run a dynamic practice whether small or large. What seperates Therasoft Online from other companies is their willingness to adjust the program to meet your needs. This program is not a boring template that in most cases is limited or useless. The company continues to update and tweak the program so you will always have the latest technology and BEST product available in the market today. I LOVE being able to talk with a live person who is helpful, courteous, and willing to take the time to help me when I call. They exhibit a high level of professionalism. Most importantly, I know Therasoft Online values my business and my time. Therasoft Online is extremely easy to navigate. I did my research and found that only Therasoft Online can meet all of my practice's needs and keep me smiling.

Being a psychotherapist who has worked in a variety of treatment settings, I have worked with an seen many charting/organizing/payment options. From the old-school pen and paper to fancy software, none of them felt efficient and helpful beyond the basics. Why pay for basics when I can do basics myself? I recently started a group practice and researched software programs. I came across many of the programs I had seen previously but NONE of them allowed clinicians to do their work off-site...it all had to be done on in-house computers. Not only can this product be accessed from virtually anywhere, Therasoft is ten steps ahead by creating apps for iPhones and iPad's. Their product has thought of the things that is way beyond the basics, has helped to stream line my practice and supports my business in a way that facilitates me in doing what I do best...Therapy.
Cons
The only con I have to share is the aesthetic presentation of therasoft. I LOVE a sexy and modern looking software program. No cons with functionality, performance, ease.
Overall
I would HIGHLY recommend Therasoft to any mental health organization both large and small. Their customer service is top notch and they are committed to getting you set-up, satisfied and performing at peak.

The program is comprehensive-from start to finish. Registering the client is very easy and the forms automatically put information in the system where I need it. The billing is very easy and really is one just one click! The treatment plan section does help simplify and organize my work with clients. The system is very smart and easy to use once you learn all the details and all it has to offer. I'm still discovering new features all the time that helps to make my life easier. INNOVATIVE is the main word to describe this system.
Cons
The calendar squares are too small. I wish that I could click on a client's name and then be in their individual system with a VERTICAL list of their personal info, assessment, tx plan, medication,progress notes, discharge summary, and payments. This would be an easier set up as I often get confused having to click all aroundclient lists when working on one client's information. Therasoft definately needs a medication section with history, dosage, side effects-it would be great if the current med list AUTOMATICALLY populated each progress note and that it could be amended right there instead of having to rewrite the meds each time. I wish that I could view a ROLLING screen of the progress notes instead of having to click between screens from different dates of treatment. Therasoft desperately needs a Help tab to answer quick questions about using certain features. Despite these limitations, I bet these features will be added VERY soon given the responsiveness of the company.
Overall
Overall the program offers the therapist a way to organize his/her work. It helps me to dot my i's and cross my t's so that in the event of an audit I know that I have collected all of the required information. The support staff have been very responsive and willing to take the time to answer questions. Therasoft is a company that is willing to implement the suggestions given by its clients and that it is working to continuously improve their product to provide the best practice management system available.Overall, the Therasoft saves me time and provides with peace of mind that I have all the information I need to have a complete client medical record. I have recommended this program to others and think that as long as the monthly cost stays equal to what I get paid by the insurance for one session then I will continue to be a faithful follower.

Cost effective, especially for what you get. LOVE the ease of filing claims. Good support by phone and especially email. Amusing employees--like real people!!
Cons
Can be complicated since it has so many components. Hard to track number of different session types (when a client has so many of each type as is often the case with Va Medicaid)--it seems to only track total sessions. There needs to be some sort of "warning system".
Overall
Would recommend to others looking for consolidation of records, good security and ease of claims filing.

Switching over was a bit labor intensive and disrupted our cash flow a bit, as would be expected by any major change like this. Plan accordingly.

Pros
I am a solo practitioner who does it all: I screen, do the intake and see my clients. I also do all the billing and send statements when necessary. I like to keep it simple, so I know that I do not use all the features I could in this program.
I love how it is web-based, because if I don't get the notes or insurance filing done at the office, I can do it at home. This helps me remain flexible and available for my family's needs.
Cons
I wish I had more training on it before I moved my practice and started using it, because I am so busy that I don't always get back to the areas I am having problems with.
However, that is more a negative about me and how I need to request more training time than an actual problem with Therasoft online.
I do wish that when I am entering in an Attendance of a session and then move to Payment screen that I'd still be in that client's file and not have to re-enter that client in the Payments page (and again in the Progress Notes page). You really have to pay attention or you might pay on the wrong person.
Overall
I have looked at several systems, but nothing as comprehensive as this for mental health professionals. Throw in the available HIPAA guide and you really have all that you need for practice management. I am currently talking with other mental health professionals about using it.

Pros
Learning and setting up the program was easy. The support staff are great. I love the fact that with one quick look at the calendar I can see if I have done my progress notes and posted payments. The set up for quick progress notes is easy
Cons
Scheduling is slow, too many clicks to get to the date and the client. There isn't a feature in place to easily see when the next available appointment is. They are still working out problems with the accounting system, nothing major but time consuming to fix. When printing off progress notes it did not print off all the information from the checked boxes.
Overall
Staff support is there strong point. I am starting to look at other programs out there. I'm new at EMR and so some of the problems I am facing may be similiar with other online EMR programs. I don't know.
