Pros: The software is very user friendly and it has all of the features we need to manage our volunteers. We are the largest fitness education provider in Canada and we host events from coast to coast. VolunteerLocal allow us to manage all of our events with ease. The support of the team (Lucy) is amazing she is able to help me with every request to make our events run smoothly.

Cons: Nothing! I cannot find a flaw in this system. Even when I have a question and want to do something that I don't know how to do right away I ask Lucy and she is able to walk me through it and provide a solution that makes it easier than I expected. I would not hesitate to recommended this as the best volunteer management tool on the market.

Overall: We are able to organize and track all of our volunteers from our events across Canada!

Pros: Very user friendly for the volunteer coordinator and equally easy for the volunteers, plus incredible customer support .

Overall: My most important benefits include less time commitment in scheduling volunteers as they do so on their own. I only need to help the few who have problems. It lets me block those volunteers who want to come back by letting me know they've reapplied. It allows for easy to canceling, rescheduling, and helping volunteers. It allows for our site managers to check in volunteers and determine those who are cheating our volunteer system benefits. Plus, it lets me track volunteer hours. There are so many wonderful things that this program does for me, that I had to do by hand in the past.

Pros: Its so user friendly - really straight forward to get started and up and running. A great tool to have on the scale of event I was working on. 100+ vols.

Cons: I was on the more expensive per event level and found some of the communication tools limiting. I would like to be able to attach docs/photos rather than link to a URL and to be able email individual vols rather than groups. I also wonder if the higher levels give notification when a volunteer signs up or I may have missed this feature.

Overall: A great, intuitive volunteer management system that really helped us manage our volunteers for the trail ride. Creating jobs, scheduling shifts, communicating with our volunteers and exporting data was so straight forward and made our job so much easier.

Comments: Our company just switched over to Volunteer Local and it was so easy to input our data and schedule shifts for the volunteers we needed! I haven't heard a single complaint or had any questions from volunteers who are registering for the Uptown Art Fair!

Comments: I like the ability to look at the dashboard and see where numbers are at whenever I would like in real time. I think that in the communication program, it should list names along with email addresses when you select who will be receiving information. If I have to log out of the communication area to look this information up, I lose where I am at and have to start over again. Not particularly convenient. Also, there should be a way for us as administrators to print name tags for volunteers for specific jobs. With larger events this is very necessary and requires us to export the information and somehow figure out how to integrate with our own database. Mostly user friendly but with the expense of a paid program I think it should be a bit more sophisticated.

Loved the software and the customer service was amazing!! Saved us a lot of hard work!!

Comments: Took a little while to navigate around the software but once I had a couple of hours under my belt setting up jobs and shifts was a piece of cake!
The customer service was amazing - given we are in Australia, there was always an email response waiting for me in the morning to my query the day before.
Unable to pay with an AUS credit card, but the VolunteerLocal team upgraded me anyway and organised for me to pay by cheque.
Thank You!! Definitely would use this software again!

Comments: A large group like ours (over 200 volunteers) and an 11 day festival, it's always a challenge to plan. Volunteer Local's software is very easy to use on the volunteer side as well as the management side. Kaylee was always helpful, knowledgable and available to answer questions and went above and beyond to make sure our user experience was seamless.

Comments: Have tested out Volunteer Local for our local volunteer emergency services unit. Need was to have an easy way to notify volunteers of upcoming events and to have them commit to those opportunities. Tried another service but did not work for us. Have piloted VolunteerLocal. The initial response is excellent. VERY Easy for volunteers to sign-up, with no help needed. It is also pretty good for the administrator first thing, and then easy once one gets the hang of it. The big difference in the start-up is the amazing help that is available. Other services are e-mail or chat only. VL is live phone help; it made a BIG difference. I recommend trying VL. You may find it great for your needs, like we did. Also the free and premium plans work well for non-profits.

Comments: This was a fabulous website - easy to use (after playing around with it), and customer service was quick to respond to any problems. The problem I had was it was my first time and I didn't know how to move around the site. Once I learned by trial and error, my volunteer roster fell into place. I was able to put up baking jobs and attach recipes, and also create volunteer spots and shifts. I loved the fact that I was able to print out a spreadsheet and make a list of the volunteer names, the jobs they volunteered for, and their contact details.

Thank you so much VolunteeLocal team! You made my first year of organizing a cafe stall quite rewarding and made me feel confident I was able to do something right.

Comments: After searching through various volunteer management resources and having used google docs forms and spreadsheets for the past few years, it has been an absolute pleasure to find a system that works so intuitively and successfully.
The support has been amazing from the start and I look forward to using the service for all events. With a free upgrade to enable us to try out the features of the discover level it allowed me to see how easy it will make my life to recruit, manage and place all volunteers for event. The biggest time issue I always found with spreadsheet system was not gathering enough data from the volunteers and then placing them in a job that was not suitable/ they were not suited to or they were unable to do. With the online system, people can see exactly which shift they are accepting and the email confirmation allows me to see that their email address is correct and that they are fully aware of the shifts that they have taken on.
Thank you for making my working life much easier, it allows me to put more time into areas of importance, finding prizes and thank yous for the volunteers, rather than moving names around a spreadsheet and trying to guess which role a volunteer would like to do.
I would recommend this service to anyone looking to streamline their processes and provide a top line service to our important volunteer force.

Comments: This product is such a great fit for our organization. Our first use is organizing volunteers to help with a four-day conference with over 1,600 attendees. Comments: How wonderful for all our volunteers to be able to sign up for their favorite show and job ...from the comfort of their home!! Because of the great communication tool we even stopped calling our volunteers to remind them of their event.
Perhaps there still are some of our volunteers who do not have a computer or use email... but we have given them the option of reaching out to the coordinator who will cheerfully help them .
The support provided by the staff at VL is exemplary!! They were there if physically possible!

Comments: The Grapevine Convention and Visitors Bureau has been using VolunteerLocal now for a number of years. I cannot imagine doing my job without it! We recruit thousands of volunteers throughout the year for multiple events and VolunteerLocal is like my right hand. The software is so easy to use and has all of the features that I need to be a successful volunteer manager. I especially love the dashboard feature where I can see a snapshot of my event's volunteers and easily get to the report to see the areas where I need to focus on recruiting. All of my volunteers love using the software to sign up because they get to pick what is right for their schedules quickly and easily. The customer service at VolunteerLocal is fantastic. Kaylee and Brian are quick to answer my questions and fix any issues very quickly. I would recommend the software to any event manager that is looking for an easy way to recruit volunteers.

Comments: VolunteerLocal saved me a lot of time and stress while coordinating volunteers for the 105th Drake Relays. In the past we had been relying on emails, phone calls, and random post-it notes to fill positions but streamlining everything through one website was a lifesaver! The most time consuming aspect of using this tool was the initial process of getting everything in the system but because you can archive events, next year will be a breeze! I recommend VolunteerLocal if you are looking to reduce stress and improve the sign-up experience of both the volunteer coordinator and the volunteers.

Comments: I found VolunteerLocal when my permanent volunteer registration site underwent major upgrades. I've found it to be the best free site to use, and the added options with payment are nice as well. Their staff is always excellent; very helpful and pleasant to talk to! My events require me to add information as the dates get closer, and they've been very helpful in adding the information if I'm unable to do it myself. They're always open to suggestions as well.
One issue I've run into is that information is overwritten if the same e-mail address is used multiple times. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like there's a solution for this yet, but I'm sure a change is in the works!

Comments: Before VL, our Volunteer Coordinator relied on emails, phone calls & spreadsheets to organize volunteers for the Ogden Music Festival. Our volunteers didn't have much choice about where and when their shifts were and communication was often confusing. We had an unhappy Volunteer Coordinator and unhappy volunteers! When our Coordinator quit with no replacement in the wings, we thought we'd be lost. Another local non-profit highly recommended your service. In desperation, I signed up for the free version and began creating jobs and shifts. The set up was very user friendly. Our biggest challenge was getting volunteers to use the online sign up, as they had been used to the old way of doing business. Since VolunteerLocal, communication with volunteers has been clearer, job descriptions helped them know what to expect and confirmation emails gave them their schedules without me having to lift a finger! Happy (but looking for a replacement) "Volunteer Coordinator" and happy volunteers!

Pros: The application has so many features to maximize simplicity for both the coordinator and the volunteer. There are many tools available to critique and customize the application to fit your event. Its an easy-to-use platform that minimizes the confusion for everyone. You can easily export your data to programs such as Excel for further organization.
And, the support team is incredible.

Cons: Its hard to think of any cons considering how difficult coordinating volunteers was before discovering VolunteerLocal. And, If I was to list any, im sure it would be resolved before the next person could sign-up with VolunteerLocal.

Overall: I highly recommend using VolunteerLocal. It saves time and most importantly sanity. Volunteers find it easy to use and sign-up. And coordinators have so many great tools to make the application fit each unique event. Two thumbs up!

Cons: Changing dates of event, you have to go into every shift to change the date.
Having somewhat of a "guide" for users to use on their project would be really helpful!

Overall: I am really happy we used it for a handful of our projects. There wasn't an interest by our team leaders for our repair projects unfortunately. I think many of them have their routine and thought it would be more complicated. I think as those leaders age out and younger leaders come into the picture this will just be the way people do things. I recommend this site to every volunteer group I'm engaged in!

Pros: I had been asked to review the volunteer management sites out there (found a great list of 'all' of them, or at least most). I narrowed it down to 5 and signed up for free accounts. VolunteerLocal was the first to respond to the fact that I signed up for an account, and were certainly much better than the other sites at working with me, understanding our needs, and letting us know how the website would fit our needs. I also appreciated that fact that they were willing to help resolve some of the issues we had. It certainly made me feel comfortable in recommending VolunteerLocal.

The interface is very clean and simple, and as my rep could tell, I was answering my own questions soon after I sent them.. The developers seem to have thought of everything that I can think of so far! Kudos!

Cons: Would love to be able to arrange shifts in the order I want, instead of alphabetical.

There seems to be a bit of glitch with location when one is added, but very easy to fix after the fact.

Overall: We have 3-4 day events with hundreds of volunteers. We needed something easy for them to sign-up on, but robust enough for us to track data. We didn't need to a lot volunteer tracking over the course of time...so this was a great fit!

Overall: Having organized many PTA events over the years, I have sampled several online volunteer registration tools, but none passed the test. They were difficult to use and confused an already tedious process.

I found gold when I discovered Volunteer Local. Gave them a test spin with our last school carnival and I am 100% sold. It is the IDEAL tool for any event requiring volunteers. The setup was easy, the sign up page was simple enough for novice internet users to navigate, the stats dashboard is awesome and the ability to export volunteer data was icing on the cake.

If I did have a technical question, Brian was swift to reply and super great to work with.

Thank you, Volunteer Local! We will most definitely be using your product in the future. You saved us time and most of all, sanity.

Pros: VolunteerLocal features a simple, user-friendly interface with features even in the free version that you have to pay for with every other online volunteer system (unlimited jobs, shifts, volunteers!). You can define what information about each volunteer you want to receive, set maximums for each position, and copy jobs and shifts so you don't have to recreate the wheel for similar events. Features increase with the paid versions including the ability to blast emails to volunteers, multiple users managing different jobs, and event check in. THE single most important pro is the people! The team is a group of local developers who regularly seek feedback from the community about how to improve their product, and it shows in the execution! Kaylee is SO receptive to customer needs and easy to work with and I look forward to every time we talk.

Cons: Haven't found one yet!!

Overall: If you're not using VolunteerLocal, you should be! This product has been so perfect for our small nonprofit. I went from sending at least 5 emails back and forth between a potential volunteer and trying to manage a 150-column, 5-page spreadsheet (and that's on legal paper) to simply copying and pasting the link and letting volunteers do it themselves! I can easily pull weekly reports to track our recruitment progress and send emails out when needed! Couldn't ask for a better product and so proud to call them a part of our Des Moines community.

Pros: YSS has utilized VolunteerLocal for a few events now. It is easy to set up the events and for volunteers to find and register for event shifts and jobs. We will definitely be using this for more of our special events and as a tool in our volunteer tracking.

Cons: As the site grows in awareness, it will be easier for people to find these types of opportunities.

Overall: I am trying to figure out how to rework my budget -- the tools in VolunteerLocal fit my needs for recruiting and tracking volunteers across the board.

Pros: Support was great. On my side, we only discovered the site about three weeks before our event, so we never really got full use of it. This coming year we plan on making it part of our overall yearly plan.

Cons: Navigation of the site could be better, I often had to click around a few different links to really get to what I was looking for.

Pros: This system was a little cumbersome to set up (a lot of clicks and double clicks). BUT, it was FREE and VERY EASY to use. Once we got it up and running, it worked like a charm, and our volunteers all commented on how easy it was to use.

Cons: Somewhat slow getting started. A lot of clicks and double clicks that made set up slow. But once it was live, the volunteers LOVED it! Would recomend to anyone

Pros: User friendly, well designed interface.

Cons: A few glitches in how we listed tasks, or volunteer roles, emailed President with our suggestion/problem.

Overall: If there were a template that enabled users to make more changes to volunteer jobs, or event style it would be helpful. SImply, a template with more options.

Pros: Before volunteerlocal all coordination was through emails and phone calls, interest forms, etc. After we started using volunteerlocal, there have been less back and forth. We are gearing towards more online sign up and are hoping to have all online volunteer registration by the beginning of next year!

Cons: None that we have experienced.

Overall: I would definitely recommend this software to others! I already have! We build year round and use volunteerlocal for our everyday needs, as well as special builds, projects, ReStore opportunities and events. Our volunteer needs are around 9,000 a year and growing!
