Pros: It is so easy, I come from working in a big law firm (Puerto Rico standards) which filed for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy, by chance I came across this software and I realized that the work performed by 3 persons (granted they did it for 60 attorneys) could be worked through this software because of the circumstances that were unexpected I had to reinvent myself and decided to do it as a sole attorney after 17 years in a law firm, 15 years as an attorney. Because I was starting I did not feel comfortable paying a secretary or paralegal and it turns out that the software is so easy that my mom is preparing the invoices, including the expenses and receiving the payments.

I am also in love with the intake forms depending on the client I either send it by text and they submit it through their phone which creates my contact and a folder in box or while I am with the client I fill out the form either in my phone or ipad. I know I can have additional advantages but had not had time to play a little more with them, in the law firm it would have to pass through like 2-3 persons.

Cons: The only con at this moment is that I want the company settings to be en english but some of the intake forms in spanish, having problems with the special characters in spanish.

Overall: More time in my hands to do legal work and jot administrative work.

Practice Panther has made the transition to their program very simple!

Pros: Our firm finds the ease of use the most helpful. With little training we are able to begin using Practice Panther immediately. We enjoy the many features that Practice Panther offers such as the client portal and the integration with LawPay. Our staff finds the template tool a big help when it comes to creating documents for current and prospective clients. The Practice Panther support team has been extremely helpful with our transition and is available to answer all of our questions!

Cons: We would love to see some more integrations with other programs (specifically Trustbooks and an e-sign company).

Pros: I like everything about it, but to single out one thing I would choose the secure messaging and client portal. As state bar associations more and more begin to take the position that email is not secure enough for confidential client communications, the secure messaging has become my go-to for dealings with clients.

Cons: I would like to see the PracticePanther team continue to develop their document automation into a more robust package.

Overall: Time tracking and billing, trust accounting, document management, scheduling and docketing and automated prompts to clients to renew their retainers or pay their bills. The benefits to me are greater efficiency and less billable time lost. It is also slowly pulling me from old ways into paperless record keeping and better document security.

Completely easy to use and to manage. It's already reducing my administrative time.

Pros: The ability to customize matters to fit my client's needs. I also love that it sync's with Box so that I'm not taking extra steps to upload and download documents from the cloud.

Cons: Since I'm a task driven person, I have reminders set up months in advance. When I go to my task list, tasks set far into the future still state uncompleted. I'd prefer and additional category such as "pending" because it's not an immediate need.

Overall: Reduced stress and less time on administrative tasks.

Pros: Other than it being a "one stop shop" and the ease of accessibility, I have been impressed with Practice Panther's ability to respond to my specific needs. A significant amount of my work is for unions and clients with multiple matters. Initially, Practice Panther was unable handle invoicing and billing for an individual contact with multiple matters. However, I approached them with my needs and they created a "fix" to their system within a week. They also followed up to ensure that I was satisfied. I was certainly impressed by Practice Panther's speed and attentiveness.

Cons: I am still trying to learn all of the ins and outs. I need a bit more tutelage on the nuances. At times, customer service may not answer all of the questions, however, they have been very responsive to my needs once I call or make them known.

Overall: Being a new firm and a newly solo practitioner, I wanted the most efficient way to do it all enter my time and expenses, invoice, communicate with clients, use intake templates, etc. More, I practice throughout Northern California and log a lot of travel time meeting with clients, attending arbitrations or court appearances, or at speaking engagements. With that, I needed easy access on my laptop or phone to a law practice management system.
Previously, I did not have the ability to easily and quickly access a law practice management system. I also had numerous systems for entering time, tracking potential clients, invoicing, and the like. I love that I can use Practice Panther as a "one stop shop", even to pay bills, and that I can use it anywhere and on any device. It has made the hectic life of a newly solo and "on-the-go", mobile attorney much easier. I no longer have to worry about spending too much time on pesky administrative tasks.

I researched a TON of software like this. This one has all the features of the others for less cost!

Pros: Customizable and user-friendly; also, the customer service is fantastic! The interface is different from other case management systems that I'm used to, but once I spent some time with it, I realized that not only is it different, but it's also better and easier to use!

Cons: Not easy to trigger child items from a parent item. This can be bypassed by creating an event and having tasks trigger from an event, but it cannot currently trigger tasks from other tasks, so it requires a bit more manual manipulation than I would prefer. That said, I provided feedback about this to their development team, and they are looking into how to add this feature.

Overall: Case management, calendaring, tracking statutes, creating task lists, being able to track actions performed on a case, having contact information and case notes in one location

It's a great way for me to manage my maters and bill clients appropriately.

Pros: What I like most is how everything auto fills. It saves time on these administrative tasks. I've tried a few and it's the best practice management software available.

Cons: The system can feel a bit clunky sometimes. It's not entirely smooth and the processes/windows can sometimes take a moment to load. Not a huge deal, but sometimes I have to log out then log back in because it takes so long.

Practice Panther has done a great job giving our team a grip on our high-volume client base.

Pros: The tasks and What's Happening now feature are great to keep the whole team up to date and working on the cases. The customizable intakes and custom fields feature are great for making the data storage process as effective as possible.

Cons: There are some minor quirks with slight delays in loading instant searches on the search bars and some minor issues in the importation of data from a different software.

Overall: Ability to better manage our high volume of clients and all their needs in an efficient manner across our entire team.

Pros: I like that I don't have to change anything about the way I run my business in order to fully utilize this software. It makes my business more efficient, but I can still use my regular accounting software etc.

Great experience from start to finish. Called about a demo and was sold on the product immediately!

Pros: Ease of use and all the fantastic features. Does as much as our previous management software, but attorney finds it much easier to use. Tech support is amazing. Had just a few questions when we first began and got answers to all of our questions within a few hours. Love that we can access the program and use it to work from smartphone, as well. Makes our office truly mobile which has been a challenge in the past.

Overall: Much easier to track billable time, get prompts about upcoming appointments, calendar statutes and appointments to ensure they are not missed, etc.

In 20 yrs as a legal asst, using several different "similar" applications, PP is, by far, the BEST!

Pros: Tons of extra features. Several functions that help keep tabs on follow up items and deadlines. Literally every feature we need in one program (calendar, client database, invoicing, time tracking, document automation, interoffice chat, document storage, etc..) The tech support staff are SO friendly and funny, too; always helpful and not condescending as some "tech" workers seem to be. An all-around great software program that has made life much easier for my boss and me.

Overall: The chat feature allows me to communicate more easily with my boss during the day. Workflows are awesome and keep us both more focused on each file's upcoming steps. Invoicing is simple and so is time tracking. More benefits than I can think of at this time!

We have found the case management software to be incredibly efficient and user friendly.

Pros: This program is easy to learn and easy to use. When I have contacted Support, the Responsiveness has been excellent. Said again: RESPONSIVE SUPPORT. I think also that the price that is charged is fair and competitive. I would buy it again and I do recommend it.

Cons: Few negatives, if any. I would prefer that I could show unbilled time on the invoice. I often choose to do some kinds of work (short phone calls, corrections) that are not charged so that the Client recognizes that not everything is billed.

Overall: It has helped me be more productive and profitable.

Pros: Although the tool has many functions, it is still very easy to customize. No need to make use of all of the functions day one. It is easy to work the separate modules into the firm's workflow. Also, the timekeeping, matter management and invoice management is such a time saver. Finally, the reporting tools are invaluable and the ability to download the data in several formats is yet another key to efficiency.

Cons: Still working through it - but so far no glaring issues.
Perhaps one area that may be worth mentioning is integration. I am a Gsuite user and the ability to directly link with my google docs, etc would be great.

Really love this whole experience. I knew right after getting the free trial I was going to use it!

Pros: Having worked for the Public Defender's Office for almost 28 years, a lot of what I was doing as far as management was what I would call "old school." In other words, I used a lot of legal pads and paper. Very little was automated, and since I was assigned cases, there was no need to track time. In short, it was kind of the same thing as when I first started practicing law in 1983.
Practice Panther has been a lifesaver for me. It has made it so simple to track expenses, customize forms, submit claims for payment, etc. I guess the thing I like most is that it is not "one size fits all" software. I was able to easily customize it to my needs now, and I can see where it will grow with our practice as it grows. Right in there, though would be the top notch customer service and free training.

Overall: Complete office management and the customer service and training are the best!

Pros: Before PracticePanther I was bogged down in paperwork. I was spending nearly 4 hours a week just handling my invoicing and losing track of countless billable hours. Since joining PracticePanther I have seen a huge rise in my productivity. I am keeping better track of times and I have more free time to work on the law and less time is spent on administrative matters.

Cons: I have yet to find anything I dislike, however, it would be nice if I could connect my Google drive to my account.

Overall: Saves time on billing. Allows me to more efficiently track time and matters. Gives me alerts from hearing to invoicing, and keeps me organized on so many levels. It really helps not only the legal side of my business but the administrative side as well.

The customer service support is ridiculously awesome.

Pros: The software is incredibly user friendly and the customer service will absolutely spoil you. Our rep and the rest of the team are incredibly responsive, professional and solution oriented. They have such pride in their product.

Cons: When making a time entry, the software closes out the box when I click anywhere outside the time entry box. I then lose all the data I was writing and have to do it again.

Overall: It organizes our entire law practice!

Pros: PracticePanther integrates with all of the other programs I use: Paypal, Quickbooks, Outlook, and more. It also has a very aesthetically pleasing design that is pretty intuitive even for a lawyer who's not the best with technology. Their customer service is also fantastic, and for me, that's one of the main things I look for in a software company. I also like the secure client portal, internal chat, and the customizability of the legal intake form. PracticePanther is always improving, and I have no doubt that it will surpass Clio in popularity. Cons: I couldn't find any cons for PracticePanther, but I've heard that they don't seamlessly integrate with some CRM software (Lexicata, Contactually, etc.). Using Zapier for integration will still work, but it requires an extra step.

Pros: PracticePanther's support team is patient, professional, and helpful. I received three consecutive days of training at no charge and was able to implement PracticePanther immediately. PracticePanther is also user-friendly and technologically friendly, allowing integration with programs already in use, like Google Mail.

Cons: PracticePanther does not offer bundle packages for multiple users as opposed to purchasing accounts separately.

Overall: Ease of Use and Efficiency.

I really enjoy using the software. The dashboard allows me to see the overall health of my practice.

Pros: I am moving towards checklist based practice methods and automation, so I really like the templates and workflows that allow me to save a lot of time.

Cons: Trust accounting reconciliation and tasks are not intuitive. It took me awhile to figure it was under "activities". I wish there was direct bank syncing, rather than through Quickbooks.

Overall: Save time and make more money.

It's a great experience, UI, and UX is well developed.

Pros: My favorite thing about PracticePanther is its ease of use. The important information I need is front and center upon logging in. Not to mention the convenience of having a single button on every screen that can take me anywhere on the site. Ultra convenient!

Cons: The only con I can really list is that the mobile app appears to be a port from the website using the app as a wrapper. I'd really like to see a fully native iPhone app that doesn't require scrolling or zooming in and out to get things done.

Pros: We like how it seamlessly integrates with many of our existing software programs such as Quickbooks and LawPay.

Cons: Certain functions that I think should be standard are not available in the software yet, such as workflows launching from completed steps being marked, instead of all workflow going by preset dates.

Overall: All things we need are integrated: client management, contacts, billing, client portal, etc.

Pros: When I oversaw operations at my previous firm, I always lamented my inability to leverage existing technology in a thoughtful and efficient way. Changing the dogma at an existing firm seems to be a significant barrier to many firms implementing technology solutions and, more importantly, sticking with them.When I decided to begin anew, I spent weeks trying all of the software out there. I tested the patience of the support teams as I pushed the limits of the various software platforms to make sure they would work in a way that integrated with how I work and think.

Once I found Practice Panther, I knew I was where I wanted to be. The program is intuitive, forward-thinking, and addresses the things that I care the most about. Support is rapid and efficient. I'm thrilled to have found Practice Panther as a partner.

Overall: I'm not sure there is anything I like "least" about the software. As with any software, I would like it to do exactly what I want to do tailored for my particular type of practice. That is obviously impossible absent having custom written software. However, after trying numerous platforms, Practice Panther is the closest thing I've been able to find two custom software.

PracticePanther has been an easy transition over the other software I was using. Very intuitive.

Pros: I like being able to automate my documents and set up templates so that clients can use an iPad to fill in intake forms and such. This has helped to cut down on paper consumption in the office.

Cons: I wish there was some kind of widget that I could use to more easily track time that was always open.

Pros: The support staff are top notch. They respond quickly (sometimes as soon as 10 minutes!) and have been able to remedy any issue I've had. Aside from that, the software is intuitive and simple enough, while meeting all of my firm's needs. The software has made me more organized and has streamlined my billing practices, while allowing me to communicate securely with my clients. On top of all of that, pricing for the software beats their competitors. Can't miss.

Cons: I really don't have any complaints about the software. If pushed, I suppose they could add some additional features (multiple trust accounts), but I hear those are coming down the pipe soon anyway, so no complaints!

Pros: If I¿ve forgotten to add a time entry at the end of the day, I can add it from my phone in a snap! I tried out several different web-based practice management software packages before settling on PracticePanther. I initially thought I would go with a competitor, but when I tried out PracticePanther, the user experience is far superior to the others I tried. I also appreciate the customer service and support. They are always willing to help with questions I have and always open to suggestions for new features.

Cons: Some of the functionality is not extremely user friendly, but their customer service is top notch and always willing to help, so all of my questions have been answered.

Pros: Before PracticePanther, we mainly relied on paper files and on an online calendar to keep track of our schedule. PracticePanther has opened up a new world of possibilities to help keep our growing practice organized and running efficiently. PracticePanther helps to ensure that our attorneys can spend more time working on their client's cases. PracticePanther helps to maximize our attorney's effectiveness for their clients. I would advice other attorney's to give PracticePanther a try and see that it can help them stay on top of their client's case and maximize their potential.

Cons: I don't love how the folders are organized in the box. I would prefer they were organized by matter instead of client. Also, a way to separate closed matters from open matters would be preferable.

Pros: It is functional and enables me to quickly set up files, bill and invoice. What more could I ask for.

Cons: It could be even simpler and make suggestions as you go along - are you trying to do this, do that - multiple choice boxes. I hate IT! The quicker I'm in and out the better.

Pros: I cannot say enough good things. There are so many Pros! Seamless integration with Box, Quickbooks, LawPay, and Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.). Transferring/Uploading client & matter information was easy and amazingly fast. We were up an running after only a few hours from creating our account. Our clients appreciate the Client Portal including being able to securely upload documents, send secure messages (rather than using email), receive invoices, and pay online.

We left another law firm management program, Rocket Matter, after only 2 weeks due to poor integration and non-stop headaches. I was worried Practice Panther would end up being much of the same, but I could not be happier we decided to jump to Practice Panther. Their tech support team strives to find solutions rather than simply telling us "no." Every time I wonder whether Practice Panther has the ability to do something, their team finds a way to make it happen. We are extremely happy with platform.

Cons: A few of the features were not immediately intuitive, but as we use it more and learn about all its features the happier we are with our choice.

Overall: Seamless integration with Office 365, Box (and Dropbox), Quickbooks, LawPay, and more. We are capturing more of our billable time and the client portal has decreased the time between invoice and payment resulting in higher collection rates. They also have a wonderful support team that really cares about making your user experience the best it can be.

Pros: Everything is arranged logically in the software, making it very easy to use. In addition, they are constantly making improvements and adding features.

Cons: The trust accounting has greatly improved, but still leaves a bit to be desired. The only other complaint I have is that while we can add multiple time entires (up to ten), there's no way to start a timer on the lines on that screen (although I haven't suggested that yet), and if I log in from my phone or another computer before saving that list, I lose the information on the screen.

Practice Panther has helped my office stay organized and is very easy to use.

Pros: Cost, ease of use and that it always accessible (online, phone app, table app). Customer service is very helpful and quick to respond to problems. PP is always adding new capabilities and services as well.

Cons: Sometimes can be slow and take awhile to load pages. They do need to add some templates that you could use for certain practice areas so your not inventing the wheel. By that I mean common templates that a personal injury attorney would need in a given matter or form. Practice Panther does allow you to create templates that you can use again, but it would be helpful to have an already created template for certain areas of practice.

Comments: In a previous firm, we used Clio. Clio was an awesome upgrade from Time Matters in ease of use. However, when I started another firm, I looked around and did more research. I found Practice Panther and it is the next level up (many levels!!!). We probably don't use 75% of the functionality of Practice Panther but what we have it doing is amazing. Our prospective clients fill out their forms online and we use that information to do their estate planning documents AUTOMATICALLY. We see how much money we have brought in as a firm and for each client. We see what money we have sitting out there. We have linked to LawPay so invoicing is super easy and convenient for us and the client. It does everything Clio does plus alot more and the price is amazing.

Pros: The calendar is very helpful to me. I am able to have access to everyone's calendar with this software, unlike our old software only certain people's calendar could be available for me to view.

Cons: Possibly a temporary problem, but at times our office has problems connecting to box sync through practice panther.

Overall: I taught myself on this system, and i is basically very simple. Importing documents from our old system into the new is very easy and self-explanatory! The prompts tell you what to do.

Overall: Before we had Practice Panther we had Rocket Matter as our software management system and they increased our fees significantly after the 1st year of our subscription. Practice Panther has fixed rates. Before we were doing a lot of things manually and spending a significant amount of time finding information about clients, and copying and pasting descriptions of time for billing. Now we have easy access to client information and don't have most of those issues. Also, the templates and inputs are awesome for routine legal forms! The custom fields and custom groups are increasing effectiveness and efficiency and quality of the our practice because of less mistakes and less of the problem of finding old client's names in forms that you might miss. Once created, the templates also makes it easier to find the permanent form for the specific area for your practice. Practice Panther added the ability to bill your time right from the calendar soon after we subscribed which is a huge time advantage. Also, Practice Panther is mobile with a great iphone app and ipad app you can take in the court room or on the road. My receptionist and legal secretary can make appointments which immediately show up on my remote apps and vice versa, and the calendar and billing time also works great on those apps. I researched many legal software management programs before deciding on Practice Panther and I have not been disappointed. It is an excellent software management system for the small to medium size law firm.

Cons: There are continuing areas that we could further automate to make the product even more amazing.

Overall: I recently switched to PracticePanther after 20 years using different version of Amicus Attorney. While Amicus helped me to keep my practice moving for years, the lack of continuing support for the product and meaningful changes caused me to start looking at alternatives. After researching the current crop of practice management programs and downloading several demo's, I ended subscribing to the PracticePanther team. The first reason I chose PP was the fact that I was able to create "workflows" that automate a ton of the tasks required for several practices areas. For example, a new misdemeanor criminal case can have the misdemeanor workflow that I created applied and all of the steps for the cases are automatically generated. The scheduling of the first client meeting, initial hearing, filing of our appearance, requesting discovery, sending discovery, attending the pretrial conference, plea meeting with client and change of plea hearing all become tasks or calendar events with just the touch of a button. My assistant then just needs to coordinate the dates for all of the auto-generated tasks or events in order to have the file completely organized. The workflow also assigns the responsibility for completion of tasks automatically to me or my staff so we all are reminded of what needs to take place next. The second selling feature for me was the automated email and text-message reminders that can be generated to the client (and to staff if desired). I like that I receive a text reminder from my dentist's office and wanted something similar. For all events that I create within the workflow, I can assign the reminder details. This has significantly lowered the number of no-shows that I have for office meetings and court hearings and reduces the staff time that was spent before calling to remind clients of court dates and meetings. The third key feature that I really wanted was the secure client portal feature. The portal allows me to hand incoming clients an Ipad to have them fill out their intake information that we would need to create a new client file. Once the client has completed the information on the Ipad, it automatically creates a new contact within the PP system and we can then easily generate a new matter if we are hired. For clients that we choose to work with, they are also sent an email invitation to open their secure portal, thus allowing them access to their online file within the PP system. Clients love it.

Cons: It is hard to find a least like in this software, and if there ever is it get addressed and fixed. For example I had difficulty setting up my invoices but after contact with their support and granting them temporary access it was fixed in minutes

Overall: I have been using PracticePanther for my small law firm for a little over a year now. It has proven to be extremely valuable and has made my practice more productive. I have been able automate a variety of functions that I use every day to be more productive and expand my business. The software is extremely easy to customize and set up for my practice. Billing, intake forms, templates, workflows, calendar management and client relationship management, cloud storage, client portals with secure messaging are all integrated into the software. No hidden costs. Everything is included and no upcharges. Support is very responsive with several ways to contact them right within the program. They are also very responsive to suggestions and they have quickly integrated requested features. While I am not sure how many people work at PracticePanther, I imagine there a lot. However, I feel like I get the support of a local business and that my business matters.

Comments: After spending months researching, and receiving demonstrations on, dozens of case management software options (using Capterra as a starting point), I finally decided on PracticePanther. We are now in the process of fully integrating all aspects of our practice into this software and we are continuing to find new features that will make our office more efficient. This and the customer support continually prove to me that I made the right choice.

PracticePanther is easy to use and incredibly customizable. In that it is web-based, it is accessible from any computer or device with an internet connection. We use it to store all pertinent case information and contacts, and to calendar appearances, tasks, court and internal deadlines and reminders. We use the feature which allows you to create workflows so that we don't have to reinvent the wheel every time we want to establish/calendar the same set of tasks on a new matter. PracticePanther makes it easy to track time spent and expenses on all of our cases. Also, it allows all users to view and track the activity of other all other users, which minimizes the need to constantly follow up with other members of the firm regarding status of task completion.

PracticePanther integrates with Box.com. So if you house your case files within Box.com you can access them directly through PracticePanther. Because of this, we are now integrating all of our files with Box.com so that we can use this feature. The prospect of having all case information, calendaring, AND the case file accessible from any device anywhere, is very exciting.

There is a great feature that allows you to create fully customized intake questionnaires that can be sent to potential clients via a link. Once the potential client fills out the information it is automatically uploaded to PracticePanther.

There are great demonstration videos and articles on their website which really help you to familiarize yourself with the product, although it's very easy to figure out on your own as it is extremely intuitive.

However, the greatest part of PracticePanther is its customer support. It is always easy to get a hold of someone to answer your questions. Best of all is that they listen to your feedback and use it to improve upon their product with regular updates. I have seen many of my suggestions come to life in a short amount of time. They truly want to hear what you have to say in order to make their product better!

Overall: I opened my own solo law practice recently. In preparation for that I spent a considerable amount of time testing different practice management products. I went through about 8 different products before settling on Practice Panther. It does everything I wanted and it looks really nice while doing it. It absolutely stacked up against the most well-known players in the game and exceeded them in some respects. For example, adding billed time is so easy in Practice Panther and can be done from anywhere. Some other practice management solutions didn't let you turn any task or activity into a billed entry. I'm still learning how to maximize the software for my practice, but I would highly recommend giving it a try if you are looking. It's a great team with incredible customer service. It is 100% as good as any other practice management software on the market. I was pleasantly surprised.

Recommendations to other buyers: At first I didn't understand the trust accounting, but once I spent a little time with it I figured out how great it is. Utilize their free training to have them walk you through anything you don't understand.

Comments: We wanted to use a practice management software for all the reasons one wants a practice management software but in addition we wanted two things that really were not easily available anywhere else. 1) to database our practice with custom fields, so we kind keep track of important information about the clients that we would need, sometimes on several occasions, but did not have a database to find it. Like how many cases is a GAL on, or what is the 4th kids birthday? 2) to be able to both use our mac based office on dropbox with native direct access to the files in the same intuitive way that we always have and without down loading or accessing the practice management software keep it updated automatically, and to be able to do the opposite, stay in the practice management software like on an iPad pro, make changes to the documents in the management software and on dropbox. This does the trick.

It was evident from the get-go that PracticePanther did both of these things well. My experience with customer service and senior management thus far (yes, even the suits!) gives me confidence that this cat is able and willing to keep on innovating to deliver a constantly improving experience.

Pros: There are many things I like about the software. The main ones are:
- The search function. This makes searching for contacts or matters very easy. This is available on many of the screens as well as the dashboard.
- The price is very reasonable for a sole practitioner, and cheaper than the other software I have investigated
- Easy to create templates
- The screens are easy to understand and its a joy to use the software
- its relatively easy to import contacts (which i did from my gmail)
- billing is really good
- the client portal is amazing (you can even see when your client's read their invoices)
- it is improving all the time - there are regular weekly and monthly updates
- I find the relationships tab really useful to keep all my contacts related to the matter together for each of use
- there are many other pros about this software - try it and see for yourself

Cons: - the software is not perfect - it would be good if viewing emails from external email (e.g. gmail) could be improved so that they are more readable
- secure messages could be improved to allow attaching multiple files without the need to zip
- greater connection with Box so that Box's sharing could be linked to a contact without the need to manually enter the contacts email address when you are inside the contact's matter

Overall: I'm a sole practitioner and I was looking for legal practice management software that was easy to use and reasonably comprehensive. Previously I had recommended ActionStep to my previous colleagues in a 4-5 lawyer lawfirm. This was also a good product, but PracticePanther in my view is better in many ways. For cloud storage I use Box, and this connects easily with PracticePanther so that I can see all the documents that relate to a matter. PracticePanther uses a simple tab structure for each matter so that you can easily and quickly look at notes, activities, time records, payments, invoices etc. I'm really quite impressed with the software and would recommend it to anyone. It is very easy to see what you have been paid in a given period, what you are owed, and what you have to bill. I'm only one user, but you can have many users and each can see this from the dashboard screen. I'm a bit of a techie person and I've spent many hours investigating the different legal practice management software systems. PracticePanther comes a clear first, for my needs.

Pros: Beautiful layout, easy to use, functions as a basic CRM, matter and time management, and billing program all in one.

Cons: Flat fee billing is not well thought out, and the billing module presents clients with a reckoning of my operating account as well as their trust account. (I understand Panther may have made the operating account info optional by now, or that is in their near term plan.)

Overall: This is an update to a previous review I made.

The folks at Panther are impressive. They've taken recommendations I and others have made and implemented them; they've quickly addressed issues I've had; and they are always courteous and responsive. The overall layout has vastly improved since my first review, and looks downright beautiful. We live by the search feature and it now works on custom fields. Custom fields can now also be listed in reports. You can now group custom fields so that you may show only those fields in a matter or contact that pertain to their specific situation. We have structured Panther so we can use it as a basic CRM...which is an immense work-flow savings for us. We asked for Dropbox integration and what they produced is perfect (considering the limitations of Dropbox). Time keeping is a snap and reachable from any screen. We asked to be able to a log call without assigning it to a matter, and they changed that so now we can. The tasking feature and its integration with the calendar is fantastic, I could not service so many clients without it. And the Panther folks have taken it on themselves to make some minor changes that have made the workflow of using the program much faster than in my previous review.

I now can answer the question I posed in my earlier review of whether I love or hate Panther: We love it. I admit that it's not perfect (a couple of basic features in billing need to be addressed before I am willing to use that portion of the program), but Panther saves us many hours a week. I tried many firm management products before settling on Practice Panther, and I am glad I stayed with them. It's already better than the others, and it keeps getting better all the time thanks to their team. You cannot go wrong choosing Practice Panther.

Final note: To my surprise one lawyer told me Panther seemed expensive. Really?! It seems well priced to me, and if you try to save a few dollars a month with some inferior product you will pay dearly for that choice in lost time.

Recommendations to other buyers: The learning curve for Practice Panther is very quick. You can be productive with the software in a matter of hours. But the main thing to settle on right up front is this: Will your clients be companies or persons? Figure that out first, then stick to your decision to make your future life be easier.

Comments: PracticePanther has enabled me to have one unified system for case management and billing. This allows easier and faster retrieval of client information and billing, thus saving a large amount of time on a daily basis.
The ease of use. Other legal management programs seem so complicated, but PracticePanther has created such a useful and natural software.

The Practice Panther user interface is the best of any cloud based practice management software

Comments: Before Practice Panther, my staff and I used a variety of cloud-based solutions to track leads, clients, matters and invoicing. Practice Panther has allowed us to consolidate each of those functions into one comprehensive solution. Now we don¿t have to have multiple tabs open in our browser or juggle several different workflows. I have no doubt that Practice Panther is saving my firm time and money nearly every day.
The Practice Panther user interface is the best of any cloud based practice management software. I demoed each of large competitors and found them all clunky and difficult to use. Practice Panther is very intuitive and my staff identified it as the best option within minutes of starting the demo.

With Practice Panther, I have every matter neatly organized into its own world.

Comments: Prior to Practice Panther, I kept track of all of my matters in individual folders on my desktop, created separate folder in Outlook for emails, and created a spreadsheet for billing and costs. It was time-consuming, frustrating and often I made many mistakes. With the use of Practice Panther, I have every matter neatly organized into its own world. I can track costs, time, events, files and emails with ease. Being able to have all of the resources for my matters in their own dedicated areas, I have saved so much time and headache.
Practice Panther has the ability to keep everything easily organized and having Outlook automatically synch my emails into each matter that has the relevant contact associated with it.

PracticePanther offers a program that has already anticipated my needs.

Comments: Before PracticePanther I was tethered to my mini-MAC (Apple) with an app for billing. I had to be sitting in my chair at work to log time. It was a billing program not designed for lawyers, especially lawyers with a blended hourly and contingency practice. I wanted to record my time on contingency cases, but I didn¿t want to bill. I had to come up with a work around to do that with the program. PracticePanther has solved the problems of having to come up with work arounds to fit my practice billing needs. Instead, it offers a program that has already anticipated my needs. There¿s options for billing hourly, contingency, and for billing less on different matters.
My favorite thing about PracticePanther is the ease of keeping track of my time.

PracticePanther continues to enhance its software to make everything very streamlined.

Comments: Before PracticePanther I felt that I did not have systems in place to organize my firm. I was looking for a practice management tool but everything was so expensive for a solo firm who was just starting out. I joined GLSA and ARAG, legal plan providers, and was given a mentor, Aastha Madaan. She introduced me to PracticePanther. Now I have everything I need to operate my firm at my finger tips for an affordable price. PracticePanther is very user friendly and helps me feel organized. I can now spend more time marketing my firm to help it grow rather than worrying about practice management. Thank you PracticePanther!!!

Comments: This software is compatible with all my devices and the layout morphs to fit each device without changing too much. I am definitely a fan of cloud base services, so that is always a plus. What I think really sold me on the software was the ease in which my paralegal picked up the program. It is definitely user friendly. I'm a start up firm so I don't have the time or money to train and this program practically needs none.

Finally paper free!

Comments: As in-house counsel, one of my main tasks was making our department paper-free. I am happy to announce - the day has finally come thanks to PracticePanther!

By reducing the amount of clutter and paper, we're able to work significantly faster and collaborate more efficiently with our team. Anyone can find any document by simply searching our Box.com database inside the software. We can even send contracts out for electronic signature right from the program - big time saver! Thanks to the team, we are finally paperless.

Comments: Practice Panther has a very intuitive set up that allows me to bill my clients with ease. The report functions allow our firm to track productivity and easily keep up with our accounting. The software developers have been responsive and addressed any issues we encountered. Customer service has been phenomenal. I have used other practice management software, and have been very pleased with my switch to Practice Panther.

Comments: Security is the number one priority for our firm. With PracticePanther's security features that blocks users from certain parts of the software, as well as their military standard of encryption, our firm is much more protected then using an internal server. We needed to be HIPAA compliant and their Box.com integration allows our files to be hosted securely according to the HIPAA standards. All around great, easy, and safe.

Comments: All around friendly and personable company with excellent service whenever needed. After my initial demo, I was assigned an account manager to help with any questions and he is always extremely quick and responsive.

Pros would have to be:
