Pros: Works with any Twain Scanner which connects to Windows and can manage 4 at a time allowing for one station to manage multiple document types at the same time. (Maps and Passports and Contracts)
Customisable ATM style interface. Allowing the user to press a button drop the document and go. Allowing OCR and processing to happen in the background.
Starts workflows automatically depending on choice or document recognition.
Connects to Office365 and Microsoft SharePoint out of the box!
Allows you to teach document recognition for OCR scans - using templates.

Cons: For administrators and system integrators their are a lot of features, options and utilities. Can be daunting to set this up at first.
However I have found the support excellent so far and the online help and videos are getting better at covering the more advanced features.

Overall: Anyone who has worked with digitizing physical documents will tell you that getting consistent quality OCR'd scans can be a challenge.
Add to this the fact that you need it to be fast and simple for all of the end users to use.
And that you want the documents to actually go 'somewhere' after you have scanned them.
And you get the main reasons that I think the ScanStation software is really a must have for anyone who wants to get a good document management solution project off the ground.

Recommendations to other buyers: Have yet to find a piece of software which makes the document onboarding process so easy and seamless. Honestly find it very difficult to come up with a reason not to recommend this product for a document management project.

Pros: One stop shop system experience, easy to use, user friendly GUI with a fully customisable menu and touchscreen. Interactive tabs show your shared docs, scanned docs & easily upload to different locations or network sites with a simple click. Limitless features, integrated document conversion to readable text (OCR), solid document manageability with regular updates. No particular knowledge is required for operability; inarguably a big plus for busy environments with heavy document loads. Excellent overall support and service.

Cons: None so far.

Overall: Having integrated this product into our new system changeover, we can easily say that we were very happy with the results and especially with the hands on support when it came to customer care support! Product is extremely user friendly and efficient!

Pros: Large and clear user buttons - single point of operation.
Security settings - my job buttons belongs to me only.
A4, A3 and flatbed from single point of stand and use.
Identity and Passport verification for any organization dealing with identity check, without any additional setting!

Cons: none from user point of view. From administrating part - not enough expirience to share at this point. New user manual is available - once this is digested, would be more clear.

Overall: Very easy to use - clear information supported also by video material. Dedicate scanning relate to business processes very transparent and clear, without any extra time consuming.
Great support of DMS and Sharepoint.

Recommendations to other buyers: Very clear and straight-forward usage for documet capture and data extraction for daily usage. If you do not look for batch scanning software, this one is perfect solution for multi or single user environment for business processes oriented document capture. Excellent Backoffice solution as well as per customer oriented sales organizations

Comments: Pros:
Easy to use (for the end-users)
Easy to set up job types (for the administrators)
Customisable profiles
In-depth scanning options available
Same ScanStation can be used with a number of different scanners
Regularly updated
Excellent integration with Document Management Systems, e.g. Canon Therefore, Microsoft SharePoint, etc

Cons:
Some simple features missing (e.g. scanning a number of sheets into separate documents), but most of these can be implemented by the developers.

The Avantech ScanStation can be set up as a kiosk-type scanning system which facilitates the scanning of documents into your Document Management System (or folders, emails, etc...). Each user is presented with their own GUI containing different scanning profiles dependant on that user's requirements & permissions. These are set up by an administrator and are quite fool-proof.

We are pleased to advise that ScanStation has multiple options for scanning a number of sheets and splitting them automatically into separate documents, all configurable per job.
