Spectora has sold out and become tone deaf to the wants of their actual customers - home inspectors. A 3rd party upsell in the form of a pop-up to the inspectors client is going to be the downfall of Spectora and they simply do not care. The inspector community has made it very clear we do not want this and Spectora is standing their ground despite a large number of inspectors, including myself, who will leave for a different software company because of this mandatory Fixle integration.

Pros

I liked Spectora when it was a product for inspectors. It made my life easier as the report flow is simple. Sometimes the principle of a bad thing outweighs anything and everything I may have liked about Spectora.

Cons

Spectora has decided they have the right to implement a mandatory pop-up window that MY clients will have to interact with when accessing their report. This ad is trying to sell the insurance, warranties, security systems etc to my clients from vendors I do not know and do not recommend.

Great until yesterday when they announced third party data mining which errodes the trust i have with my client.

Pros

A great report writing software that has just decided to use inspectors to make money through third pary mining. Looking elsewhere. Such a shame.

Cons

Lack of respect for the inspector by using our relationships to mine for data with no way to opt out.

They finally made a move to exploit our clients and use their data by go behind the home inspectors backs and selling services directly to them. They’ll be advertising services like Warranties, Home Security Systems, ETC and they are not providing any way to opt out. This is a massive breach of trust and I’m done using their software.

Pros

Used it for 5 years and it used to be a great tool for helping to speed up the inspection process on site and make report writing easy at home.

Cons

The company has lost touch with its home inspector clients. It’s adding more AI and more unnecessary features that actually slow the inspection process down all while not fixing older known bugs.

Fixle is the problem! Spectora is pushing fixle on our customers that we worked hard to generate in order to sale 3rd party services to our customers. There is no opt out for feature which is a huge problem. The software is good, but the, pushing services on us will end Spectora fast which is too bad. I’m looking into Hive as my new software provider n

The software is probably one of the best in the industry. However, them pushing their agenda on us recently with the fixle debacle is gonna cause me to switch companies.

Cons

Spectora starting to push their own agenda on our customers. They’ve added fixle which is a way for them to make more money off of our hard work. They are using our customer base to advertise to them without the ability to opt out of their advertisement. It gives the impression That we are supporting their 3rd party partners, which we do not! This pushing of their rhetoric will ultimately be their downfall, and I would highly suggest you don’t use them until they have an opt out feature for fixle

It was ok to get me going but need more professional software. Now they are stealing my customer data for their own gain.

Pros

It was ok at first but Hive is superior. Would not recommend this because they stole my customer data.

Cons

Full of bugs and not user friendly. Very difficult updating reports on an iPhone as text is chopped

Spectora used to be a great company with fantastic customer service but has really gone downhill since their acquisition. The app is buggy, there's been known major and fundamental issues with the app for a long time and they've done nothing about it, and now they're trying to monetize our clients by marketing directly to them and we have no choice in the matter.

Spectora customer service used to be great, they were responsive, updates were well thought out, and input was sought from their customers but not anymore.

Cons

They are attempting to monetize our clients without our permission and their app has become buggy since they were acquired by private equity.

My dislike for this company started within the first year of using it in 2022. For starters, when I signed up, the software would pull nice data from Zillow and provide a nice cover photo. It looked very professional. Then they removed that feature, and lied to the users stating "Zillow killed the API data feed". That was a lie and I was publicly vocal about it. In fact, Zillow only moved the data to be managed by a third party and added an API fee. From that moment on, my scheduled appointments would often get ugly photos of a field, tree or sometimes a bridge. It made me look unprofessional. I did'nt get a discount for the feature that was removed. My complaints about their bad decisions were constant. And it took them 4 years to make their new V10 even usable. This is a mediocre software company, that made mediocre software. And it's only gotten worse in the last year and a half since the Wagstaffs decided to sell out and walk away with tens of millions of dollars leaving the people that supported them holding the bag. Today they announced that they would put an upsell feature in our report dashboards against our will, so they can sell warranties, home security systems and insurance to OUR CLIENTS. And even worse, they adamantly tried to spin it as a feature that our clients would love... So we pay for the software to run our businesses, they get to hijack our customer relationship for profit. It's wrong. And it gets way worse. Someone should investigate what they use our report data for.

Pros

It was the best thing in our industry. Was, past tense being the operative word. When I first started looking for software, everything else was just worse.

Cons

The \[sensitive content hidden\] would blatantly lie to their users. They made very bad software decisions that always cost the users a lot of frustration.

Actively trying to cancel. They don’t care about their users, they don’t take our feedback into consideration.

Pros

None the software has gone down hill so quickly seen been acquired. I am looking to move on quickly.

Cons

I’ve used Spectora for my home inspection business and appreciated the clean reports and mobile app — until recently. Just two days after renewing my annual subscription (around $1,000+), they announced the rollout of Fixle, a new program that inserts insurance shopping, warranties, and other third-party offers directly into the client portal alongside my inspection reports. There is no option for inspectors to opt out. Clients see these promotions right next to my work, even if they don’t click anything. Spectora claims it’s optional for the client and separately branded, but it still feels like they’re inserting advertising into my client relationship without my consent. Many other inspectors are raising the same “forced partnership” concerns right now. When I asked about canceling or getting a refund due to this change, they pointed to their strict policy: no refunds for previously paid subscriptions, even for recent renewals or business decisions like this. Ongoing data storage is cited as the reason, but it leaves users with little recourse if the platform evolves in ways that don’t align with how we want to run our businesses. I’m now actively testing alternatives like Hive, which makes importing Spectora templates straightforward and offers better control without unwanted add-ons. The core software worked fine before, but these recent decisions have eroded my trust. If you value full control over your client portal and flexibility with subscriptions, do your research carefully before committing.

Completely dissatisfied at this point and I am planning to find another option and migrate my business over.

Pros

Software has been great to use and a huge asset to my business. CRM and reporting are very streamlined even though there have been a few hickups along the way. Those things all still exist, but the announcement to force us to use Fixle overrides all the positives.

Cons

On 3/31/2026, they announced that they will be placing advertisements for services that they choose on our client portal pages. There will be no ability to opt out of this service. This is not acceptable for them to market to my customers without my express permission.

We love the system and the new AI features. It helps us keep our reports accurate, clean and up to date.

Pros

Picture oriented, easy to follow. Clients love the reporting format. In fact many agents come to us because of our reporting system.

Cons

At times we get glitches in the field during our reporting on inspections while we are using multiple inspectors.
