Pros: 24 hour customer service; merchant processing and the ability to look up old checks and payments as well as reports

Cons: gaps in features (e.g. tracking transfers); back end can be convoluted sometimes with too many steps and layers.

Overall: linking with other apps / software (scheduling, HR, gratshare)

I use toast primarily for referencing sales and labor reports

Pros: I like that you can access all information from virtually anywhere there is internet access - you don't need to be on a POS tablet/station.

Cons: There are some clunky aspects - the first that comes to mind is that you are unable to access archived users and re-activate them yourself. You have to email or call support in order to access their records. In an industry where the workforce is ever changing - this doesn't really make sense.

Pros: Toast seems to be the most put-together of the next wave restaurant POS. They offer a few styles of terminals for greater flexibility in the unique spaces that are restaurants. Toast also will take feature-requests, something the older generation of products seems to have stopped doing.

Cons: The ability to pull up custom reports and analyses are their weakest feature. Toast can also have very occasional connectivity issues which is scary in a restaurant setting.

Overall: Toast is a full-service POS that works for our three very different restaurant concepts, including a high volume bar, a deli counter and market, and a fine dining, multi-course dining establishment.

Best thing to happen to our restaurant!

Pros: Ease of use is the biggest pro for Toast. From initial training through menu editing and reporting, everything is very intuitive and easy to understand. I can hand a new server a tablet and they can input an order without any help, right from day 1.

Cons: Right now it is not pizza based. It works, and works well in our restaurant, but things like changing the size of a pizza are not possible right now. I hear it is in the works though.

Overall: It increased efficiency and accuracy in every part of our restaurant. The reporting is incredibly detailed, yet easy to navigate.

We believe in their vision.

Pros: Love the Master Menu Management so I can manage all of my restaurants from one portal. I can also post changes to all the restaurants at once from my couch.

Cons: The hardware isn't where it needs to be for a high volume like we have. The software is great, but the hardware needs to stand up to the beatings a busy restaunt will give you.

Overall: Master Menu Management, Loyalty, Online Ordering, Order at the Table

Toast has completely changed the efficiency of our restaurants.

Pros: All facets bundled into one system - no more calling five different companies if you have an issue. Online ordering is great and our guests love the Rewards system.

Cons: Can be a little glitch at times. Also, not all of our gift cards always go through at the POS - some we have to enter manually in the back office.

Overall: Efficiency, more administrative control, online ordering. Everything in one is excellent.

Pros: The biggest benefit to our use of the software is the inventory control. We are a dessert bar, so our daily inventory is finite.
No need for an 86 List.

Cons: What I like least is the inability to change the Tip Percentage or the Order that the Tip choices appear on the Quick Order paying with the Pad. It has made us have to use paper....the First Choice, should not be No Tip.

Pros: Its a true partnership, Toast is a company that stays true to their word and works with you to reach your goals. Its always growing and becoming incredibly robust; from the the enterprise level, to the day to day features for the servers. Its a wonderful platform

Cons: It still has some work to be done with the Enterprise menu management, it is really hard to keep organized in its current format. Enterprise reporting times out often, and it becomes a bit of hassle to pull a large report.

Toast has been a huge upgrade for our restaurant.

Pros: What we like the most about the software is the constant upgrade, how easy it is to use, the back office is fantastic!! We had Micros before we switched to Toast and it's like we came out of the dark age and into the modern world!

Cons: Honestly not much we don't like.....maybe that SOMETIMES it lags. We don't experience that too often but it does happen from time to time.

Overall: Made daily operations at the restaurant much quicker and smoother.

Pros: We've had Toast for 2 months, and the comparisons from our old system to this system are just night and day! The ease of menu changes, contacting support, using the system on my laptop while I'm home on a day off-I'm a much happier manager. The staff all agrees that it's much more intuitive, and when there is a problem (wrong tab closed out, remove an item from the bill) it's so much quicker to solve.

Cons: I love that it's so much more customizable than our last POS system, but (sometimes) that necessitates there being more clicks per order. The money tray for the registers are smaller than we're used to. I wish there could be a bit more room in each money slot.

I have enjoyed Toast.

Pros: Back end reporting, web based and ease of setup. The value of this system is great, but there are some aspects that need to honed.

Cons: Sometimes the extra steps in ordering slow down servers. We have used Micros for 20 years and the ease of ordering is a little easier.

We had demos of 4 different POS solutions and toast won hands down.

Pros: Ease of use for our staff. Most of our staff have little to no experience with POS when we hire them, but toast is such an intuitive system to teach/learn that they pick it up very quickly and become proficient in no time.

Pros: This has been a great, cost effective program. Customer service is wonderful and we love their gift card and tracking programs

Cons: It took a few tries to have all of our products entered in the system correctly. The first week we used it had a little more maintenance than we had anticipated.

Pros: Easy to use and very simple and clear layout for each screen. And it is very easy to modify new changes. And the website is reliable to give most current updates in sale and labor and other statistics.

Cons: I wish that an apple app will be available soon to make it easier for management staffs to check on immediate statistic. Also the customer service takes forever to reach every time we call. And the customer service representatives respond in emails , most of the time they don't really know what the real answers they are providing but some generic email templates. And they will ask you to call them if you have any questions. So yes, you are back to square one.

Pros: Best part is the ability to keep swiping CC if/when internet goes down. customer service is pretty good overall. Ease of use and gives me ability to make changes on the fly

Cons: Customer service is good most the time but......and they do not offer price breaks for multiple stores

Overall: Ease of use, ability to track sales and P&L ability

Pros: I like that it is always being updated. I like that they listen when you call and they help you figure it out. I love that it evolves with us!

Overall: This software helps us to track our volunteer hours, keeps track of how many people visit our cafe each time we are open, keeps track of our sales and divides the cash from the credit cards.

It's good and easy to use, missing some features in labor for full-time work

Pros: Ease of inserting new items. The ability to modify on the fly. The ability to customize it to the restaurant

Cons: Not being able to pull an order back to the active screen if it was accidentally fulfilled before the order was up.

Pros: Super easy to use, constantly updating their software. Support is very responsive and they listen to what the customer wants.

Cons: Really about the only complaint is that you have to use their credit card processor, I loved the one I had previously but haven't been upset with the Toast one just wish I had the flexibility.

Pros: adaptability, visibility and ease of use

Cons: constant changes and updates, usually good, but most times, a hassle for the management staff. The install was not done as professionally as I expected, but support has been great.

Overall: As a small business owner, I am able to stay on top of activity even when I am not physically @ my location. Keeps me in touch all over, even in Costa Rica on vaca, was able to see if anything was amiss.
The new system(had for a year in January) has made me feel much more confident in my staff and in my actions that are helping to increase my bottom line.

Overall: We recently opened a BBQ restaurant and Toast made it easier for our waitresses learn how to use the POS system. They helped us by coming and being there when we did a soft and our hard opening. If there was a problem or question they were right there to answer it. Tech support has responded quickly as well. Pros: It's all in one.

Cons: When something goes wrong with the system and I lose connection (which practically happens in every software, I guess).

Overall: I love my Toast POS because it's easy to navigate and I like it that I get the reports I needed in a flash. I have a very busy schedule that I must admit I don't know that "ins" and "outs" of the POS system but I few click here and there I'm able to get the information I needed when I needed them. I'll probably be more happy if I'm able to find time to just explore what else are there to find that this system can do for me. I usually enroll in the webinars offered to members but at times, I even don't get to finish the webinar because I have to attend to calls, customers, and vendors when they are in my place of work. But I try anyways. Thanks for a great system.

Cons: Training could be more involved. I feel like more assistance is needed after the initial training, which is where customer support fails.

Overall: I find the Toast POS very user friendly. There is a learning curve once you accept all Toast is capable of. Coming from Micros, I kept thinking the "micros way". Once I learned about Toast, Toast is so easy to use!

Recommendations to other buyers: Be willing to do it the Toast way without bringing the previous POS way with you.

Pros: Quick sey up, less expensive then most with great support

Cons: One monitor cracked on me but was a easy replacement i just bought a tablet and it worked just as well for what i need at that spot

Overall: Theres millions of combinations available and every thing has worked exactly like i was promised. The online ordering coming from the same company and all attached to pos. Havebt had many issues but wheb i had one it was a breath of fresh air to get a real live person right away that walked me through every thing quickly.

Pros: Back office is easy to use.

Cons: The cash management is so confusing we can never get it correct. They think they are making it better but they don't and the training is very lacking in that area.

Overall: The support is lacking. You always get a tech to speak tech and when they look at your system they find other problems to fix and never help fix the one you need help with. You pay a monthly fee but they charge you for the support anyhow. The Sales staff can not work the system so don't bother asking them for minor help.

Recommendations to other buyers: Being a cloud system is great to calculate number and make changes.

Pros: Easy of use and the ability to have the servers using handheld devices for order taking .

Cons: That they are not EMV compliant .. but they said that they will be soon

Overall: For the longest time a was looking for a handheld system for my servers , and none impressed me like Toast . Easy of use , easy to understand , great reporting and back of the house modules .

Cons: There are still a few features that have not matured yet. A more robust ideal food cost tool that could integrate with more food vendors would be very valuable.

Overall: For over a year our organization searched for the right POS solution for us that would solve issues that our current provider could not. We had 65 locations in our brand and it seemed like they were 65 islands when it came to our POS system. There were many versions of our data base, and we were hampered by issues such as the end of life for our operating system.

Toast was one of many POS providers we evaluated, including all of the top names in the industry. Some of the most important considerations that influenced our decision included the system being cloud-based, easy to use, and easy to integrate with other technology. We installed the Toast POS solution for the first time in July of 2015, and have been converting locations since then. We currently have over 60 locations using Toast, and anticipate the rest of the locations to convert this year.

Comments: We've had Toast for over a year and could not be happier. We never planned on switching from our old POS but after seeing a presentation of Toast we were blown away by the possibilities. Toast has increased our efficiency immensely which shows in our sales. We recently had over 10,000 people for our annual St. Patrick's Day Street Event. We've always been please at how easily it handles our volume, but wow, it ran smoothly and effortlessly all day long! We had 17 handhelds running and 5 terminals! We cannot say enough good things about Toast! We learn new things every day that increase our productivity!

Pros: Easy of data reporting and management.

Cons: Still many features only available at certain levels. Can't have both online ordering and pre-order. Controlling where online orders print in house. Force printing needed information.

Overall: We are a pizzeria. We have a lot of modifications and Toast has been helping use to get the POS system we envision. While it doesn't do everything (if one did they everyone would use it), they are receptive to helping us figure out how to meet our needs. We have a ways to go, but we've come a long ways from Micros.

Comments: We've been using Toast for more than a year now, and it is much more suited to our needs than our previous POS. The remote access and real-time reporting were two features that we deemed necessities when POS shopping. While we didn't find all of the features we wanted initially, Toast was very receptive to our feedback and took our suggestions/questions into consideration and incorporated some of those into software updates. We are overall satisfied with this POS as well as their customer service and support.

Pros: user- friendly, simple, customizable, intuitive, fast.

Cons: Android's operating system took some getting used to, but once you get the hang of it then it's a cakewalk.

Overall: Toast can be whatever you want out of a POS system- you can customize all settings to fit your needs or if you want something you don't have to be too involved in and you want to keep it simple, Toast can do that too. They are always introducing new features and ways to make your life easier- and if you think of something they haven't added yet, you can request it and it will be added if other users and restaurants like the idea too. Hardware and software are integrated well and easy to use, and if there's ever a problem then 24/7 support (not robots, real Toast employees!) is only a phone call or email away.

Recommendations to other buyers: The automatic updates are wonderful as you never end up with outdated software shortly after buying it. Just like updating an app on your phone, it's super easy and is usually full of new features to check out and use to make your life easier.

Comments: This is an up and coming startup that is doing it right. We have used the system now for almost a year and having the power of real time reporting and remote access has been huge for us. Their are some challenges whenever dealign with a startup in terms of understanding that development of a new products and features take time. Comments: We have has some bad wiring and really bad connectivity issues. This has led to CC processing problems. Check have gone missing and would show up a few days later. The tablets would go off and come back online all the time. It seems to be a system with a bunch of good ideas that work for small places. I am not sure about the scalability of the platform at this time. I think you will get there soon.

Pros: Easy and simple to use

Overall: Toast is a modern foward thinking pos system. The toast team has been with me every step from the very beginning. There was and is lots of training available innitially and continually. The software it self is very userfriendly.

Comments: When I took over as manager of the restaurant we had a PoS system called Breadcrumb, and it was absolutely awful. Since bringing Toast in, my life has been so much easier! It's so user friendly and on the management side, its a dream. I highly recommend this system for anyone looking to switch

Pros: its versatility and amount of tech features are out of this world.

Cons: we didn't find out about it sooner!

Overall: I must say that if there is something out there that is needed in the hospitality business that Toast doesn't offer, than I don't even want to know about it. We have been delighted every step of the way of our Toast journey. The sales staff, project manager, menu engineer, site engineer, support staff have all greatly exceeded my expectations. Toast is a must have system!

Recommendations to other buyers: if you have seen the demonstration, and worked out a quote with your sales representative, I advise you to sign it!

Pros: Easy to add, change or delete items. Great for getting real time sales reports as well as items sold in real time. Always updating as more users offer feedback.

Cons: Sometimes a little slow.

Overall: My restaurant had a Micros POS system for over 12 years. When we expanded and renovated, we had to expand our system. Micros was too expensive and we began to look for alternatives. We chose Toast after looking at many options and it was a great choice. Restaurant specific so they understand what restaurants need. Very intuitive and with all information in the cloud, easy to change items, prices anytime and get real time reports. Great support, too. Highly recommended.

Overall: We use this software in A fast-paced restaurant environment. It is great to be able to take the tablets to the tables and get orders on the go no more running back-and-forth no more paper . It is easy to program and reprogram on the go with the quick edit feature. Every restaurant should have the ability to provide the high service standard thus pos provides.

Pros: Easy of use and great Tech support.

Cons: Rewards program to recognize phone numbers and names when assigning support.
Tech support need to assign ticket numbers so it easy for you to talk to the same Tech person.

Overall: Great system that the company is constantly improving. Make keeping track of business and easy. This system has a reporting system that let's you see from anywhere how business is performing. The online menu is a feature all customers will love with a layout that is mobile friendly. The rewards program needs a little work yet with how points cannot be assigned, but is worth the investment. Overall a great system to have.

Cons: Not many cons that I can think of...have to reset register tablet fairly often due to unresponsive touch screen.

Overall: Fantastic customer service. Easy to learn if you have prior computer and POS experience. Reliable and efficient

Recommendations to other buyers: More beginning training...I was able to understand the system fairly quickly but I have an IT background. I know of another business who implemented toast and were very frustrated with the lack of training as far as making the menu. My advice would be to not focus so much on attempting to make the "starter menu" for the client but rather use the time to show them how to make their own menu from scratch. There are different little quirks about how every restaurant prices their menu, and while toast does extremely well in allowing for those, where they are lacking is making the customer comfortable in making those changes.

Pros: Your able to do anything you really want. With 5 stores I love the fact that when I make a change on one restaurant it make the exact same change on the other 4. Offline Mode is huge considering what we had before. 24/7 Technical Support is nice although at times they just tell you they do not know the answer and will call you back but 9/10 they never do call back.

Cons: Technical Support is so-so. Like I said, sometimes they don;t know the answer to a question and will tell you theyll call back but do not. Some features I like are not available yet but they are constantly doing updates so Im sure thatll change.

Overall: Toast has been a great overall experience thus far for my 5 restaurants. The functionality is amazing as well as the back end . All of employees hands down prefer this software over what we use to have. Offline Mode is amazing!! No more phone calls because the internet went down

Recommendations to other buyers: Make sure to train your staff right after you sign the contract. Hold training meetings. Print out all of their useful tutorials.

Pros: Competitive processing rate, excellent customization, great integrated online ordering, cloud-based reporting so I can take care of all kinds of tasks from anywhere I have internet, and the list goes on.

Cons: I wish the monthly fee were a bit less.

Overall: I moved our restaurant from Aldelo to Toast, and I¿ve found it to be a Very Good Decision. Streets ahead of the competition.

Comments: We have been live with Toast for a week now and it has been great! The initial go live day was quite seamless and the training our staff received prior to go live date set us up for success. We have been able to manage our systems easily on our own for the most part. When we do call the support line or email, they are fast, friendly and efficient. Overall, very pleased with our choice!

The highlights for me are the ease of accessing the reporting, how intuitive the program is for our employees, our tips have doubled, and having online ordering! The expediting screen in the kitchen has really cut down on our mistakes and ticket times. Comments: Thank you Toast for helping to streamline the process by which we order food and beverage and provide accurate , easy to use handheld ordering tablets and back of the house programming features and reports.

We no longer need to walk away from a table with a customers credit card in hand, great for improving customer security. Additionally, most customers sign the tablet and opt out of receiving a paper receipt, saving hundreds of pounds of paper anually and helping to be a greener establishment.

Additionally since orders and entered right at the table, the number of errors in ordering is dramatically reduced, again helping us improve overall customer satisfaction.

Lastly, Toast has repeatedy demonstrated superior customer service by helping adjust our system requirements to meet the needs of the high volume nightclub business that supplements our dining and banquet sales.

Comments: Software is not nearly as innovative as they claim. Yes they use a cloud but when toast is having issues and their whole cloud goes down you cannot do much. None of your tablets and terminals will talk to each other, you lose tabs and you cannot process credit cards. This has happened at peak times for us and is a huge inconvenience.
Another big draw back is that if you own a bar/restaurant like us this isn't a system that's ahead of the curve. You are not able to accurately track your bartenders indivual sales. You also don't have the ability to precisely see when/what exact time sales are being made. It's very hard to notice this until you actually get the system at your place. I pointed this out to several people at Toast. Most of them were unaware this was the case. They told me it would be dealt with and then two months later said it wouldn't be because Aloha didn't have it as a feature, (which I found out later they do) and also because they felt not enough customers were requesting these features.
One more thing is that they overcharged us for the startup equipment and debited $500 more than they should've. They eventually correct things but had I not spoken up they never would've.

Easy to use POS that is full featured.

Comments: This is the first system I have seen on the market that makes ordering and paying at the table a reality. Our servers can spend more time with our customers and improve turn times by sending orders to the kitchen as the customer is ordering. Comments: We¿ve completely customized Toast to our business. Everyone from the floor to the office loves it. Our staff loves it. It makes their job a lot easier. Taking orders and payments at the table is easy. Toast¿s online ordering is perfect. I can look at sales on our phone and make menu changes from my couch at home.

We¿re able to make our customer¿s lives more simple with Toast. I once had a customer ask for a receipt from a transaction she made 30 days ago. I was able to find and email it to her in less than 3 minutes.

Toast¿s support team is willing to bend over backwards for us. Our old POS charged us for support and reporting. With Toast, it¿s free.

Comments: Before Toast, my POS was old and full of glitches. Toast is extremely easy to use. From day one, it felt familiar. New tech can be scary but we felt comfortable with Toast right away. I access reports on my phone every day, wherever I am. I¿m able to hold my staff accountable no matter where I am. I could never do that before.

We no longer have a line of servers standing waiting to input orders at a terminal and overwhelming our kitchen. My staff loves running credit cards right from the table.
