Pros: I like the ease of the software. It is very intuitive which makes navigating easier. Most questions can be answered by using the online help, but if a phone call is necessary the staff is very easy to work with.

Cons: Our database system prior to conversion was subpar. I new the conversion would take work on both parts (salsa conversion team and my own). There was little to be done about some data, however one request made was only partially completed. I requested additional work to be done on it and was told that the system went live and there was nothing they could do about it. I don't there is an easy way of fixing it without starting from scratch with an excel spreadsheet.

Overall: An updated, easy to use database system.

Salsa is light years ahead of what we were using

Pros: It can do practically anything you want it to. We chose it over others in part because of the event management functions. Also because of the Salsa Engage

Cons: The learning curve - but this would be the case with any new software. It takes time to learn - you have to build in time to learn the software incrementally over a period of many months.

As a new user, I am finding Salsa CRM to be fairly intuitive. There is a lot of data clean-up to do

Pros: The intersections of email, word processing, data entry, and other functions appear to be easy to use. But remember, I am VERY new to this and haven't tried any difficult functions, and haven't created anything in Engage, so cannot really comment on that part yet.

Cons: It is not totally clear to me what the Engage vs CRM functions are as yet. The conversion process from Raiser's Edge to this is glitchy and we had to track down pieces of information in Raiser's Edge that were not converted. For example if there was no date of death for a donor or spouse, the fact that they are deceased was not converted automatically. The training path was not clearly laid out. It would be helpful to have a flow chart of critical training and the order in which it would be best to receive that. For us linear thinkers, it feels like the training options came at us from different directions and we became confused on what to do next.

Overall: It is too early to tell.

Great customer service, but conversion is a time-consuming pain.

Pros: Customer service is awesome. I appreciate that I can call and get help instead of wading through hours of online instruction videos. Everyone I've encountered has been helpful and knowledgeable. I appreciate the ability to categorize constituents into groups. It's proven very helpful on directing messaging to appropriate constituents.

Cons: Frequently used items, such as notes and address and phone edits, aren't where one would think they would be. When learning the system, it causes a lot of frustration trying to find things. Also, there are lots of drop down menus without explanations on how each category affects the larger picture. For example, under "Edit Address," there is place to check is the address is "Home," "Business," or "Primary." (You can check more than one.) Then across from that, there's a drop down menu titled "Reason." No explanation of what this category means. The choices are "All Correspondence," "Bad Address," "Non-Solicitations Only," "Primary Address," or "Solicitations Only." How does this relate to the "Preferred Contact" drop down found under "Constituent Information" which also features "Solicitations Only" and "Non-Solicitations Only"? Isn't that overkill? What's the logic behind that? It would be nice if there was a printed user's guide. Sure, there's all sorts of information online to sift through, but who has time to watch videos? Give me a searchable .PDF with general instructions that include an overview of the drop down menu choices and their best uses. Finally, conversion is NOT easy. You get what you pay for. We paid for the basic conversion, and I had to manually process over 2.5 million data fields from our previous software to Salsa's templates. It took me 6 weeks. We're still waiting for Salsa CRM and Engage to interphase properly 2 months later.

Overall: At this time, we haven't been using Salsa CRM long enough to record any marked benefit. We're still in the problem-solving phase of post-conversion. As the Development Director, I did receive an immense benefit from sifting through the 2.5 million data fields from our conversion templates, however. I now have intimate knowledge of our constituents and our data that I didn't have before. It's given me a better view of our donor base which has allowed for the placement of fundraising strategies. If CRM and Engage would ever interphase properly, Salsa could probably make my life a lot easier. But right now, it makes it more difficult.

Pros: The ease of use is what I like most about the SalsaLabs software. The software is very, very intuitive.

Cons: I've experienced a few glitches with the software. The upside is I called customer service and the problems were addressed immediately.

Overall: Ease of use, lower cost.

It's fairly intuitive and integrates a wide variety of tasks into one.

Pros: I like that the CRM and Engage work so well together making my work easier - It integrates everything.

Cons: There are some functionalities, mostly around events, that I want that Salsa doesn't have- particularly the fact that there's no way to jump to a ticket purchase page without going through the event page..

it has been a journey of confusion and clarity that makes me regret that i was confused so long.

Pros: It is really intuitive once you get the hang of it. it also has many more feature than i will be able to use for a long time. I really feel that my organization can grow in to this software.

Cons: It's really hard to get all of my data transferred to the CRM. Also, salsa engage and donor pro need to be better merged into one system. it is really confusing to navigate at first.

Pros: The data base management and report generating are both well designed. It makes it easy to keep leads up-to-date

Cons: The templates for mailings leave a little bit to be desired. They are not very customizable and the end product does not usually match what is in the design stage.

The Salsa CRM software is just the right fit for my sized agency. Great customer support!

Pros: I selected this software because of how user friendly it is as well and the donor engagement platform. Communicating with our donors across many methods is made so easy with the Salsa CRM. The pricing was very fair and competitive with the market.

Pros: The product is pretty intuitive for how much functionality they have built in, but for what you cannot find there is great support, tutorials and articles in the help center. The software is a great comprehensive system designed for the smallest nonprofit or the largest. You can truly customized everything to fit a simple or complex process. We love Salsa and continue to look forward to all the improvements and advancements coming!

Cons: The software is rapidly expanding thanks to their team of programmers, but that rapid expansion doesn't come without a few hiccups. So it would be nice not to experience some of the growing pains, but would rather experience them than not have increased functionality.

Overall: We got a comprehensive marketing and CRM software solution for a great price!

Pros: Is super easy to learn how to use. Great registration pages for events that promote individual fundraising.

Cons: Not many options for social media marketing. I wish it allowed for more cross promotion across different social platforms.

Pros: The software is somewhat easy to use - after you play with it a while, you can usually figure it out.

Cons: I have been told our platform looks cheap and almost to the point where people are unsure whether it's "legitimate".
It does not have all the capabilities that Donor Pro's peer-to-peer software had so we are unhappy that it feels like we are getting less for our money this year. (e.g. participants were unable to track off-line donations)

Pros: The many things we can do with it. I feel like it could take us years to fully tap the potential of the CRM and Engage.

Cons: Figuring out the best way to have the software work with our equipment not as straightforward as I thought it would be.

Overall: Confidence in a state of the art system that can do so much of what we want, providing extremely useful information about our constituent base and fundraising activities.

Better than we had, but funtionality, training and best practices not nearly robust enough.

Pros: Ease of use, reports robust, ability to ask donor to cover fees, custom fields in various areas to cover what the database doesn't.

Cons: Cost per person instead of range, no user forum or place to add suggestions for improvment in an easy and transparent way, password functionality misfunctions, would like to see Salsa Engage more user friendly like Constant Contact in terms of creating a newsletter or fundraising page from template, linking membership to gifts, no automatic save function, or reminder to save;

Pros: Ease of use. I like that Salsa Engage and CRM sync with each other. Card Pointe is easy to use on the backend to pull reports etc.

Cons: The event module. Creating an event is easy, but loading that event into the CRM is frustrating and does not have the adaptability to events. Better training would be appreciated on this, the modules only go to a certain point and I feel like they don't really address how a non-profit implements an event. The tech support is helpful with regards to questions and assisting with work-arounds. With that said, I still like the event module, it just needs some refinement (or honestly I need more training)

Pros: Nothing in particular that you wouldn't expect from a standard CRM package. ability to add pictures.

Cons: The letter/mail merging is too complicated. Even after speaking with your rep who showed me step-by-step. It's an arduous process and she agreed.

Overall: Ability to move from Excel to a true database.

Pros: This is an extremely powerful package of CRM tools. Great integration with Engage. Customer support is terrific!

Cons: The user interface is a little confusing and learning it takes quite a bit of time. Also, the process for entering new constituents and finding them is not very intuitive at all.

Pros: Ease of creating donation forms and emails, the drag and drop feature makes it really simple especially for people that don't have a lot of design experience.

Cons: There isn't a way for donors to give donations anonymously. This is important for peer to peer fundraising when larger donors don't want their name displayed on a fundraising page.

Great experience with support thus far. They have been very helpful getting us started with Salsa.

Pros: Allows us the ability to store all of our constituents in one place, without the hefty price tag of some other software.

Cons: The only con we felt thus far was that we found it a little confusing understanding the integration of the CRM system with Engage.

Pros: I love that you can store queries and easily edit them to run a completely different report in just a few clicks. Queries are easy to create once you get the hang of it.

Cons: I'm not too keen on the event module. It's just never been something that has worked for our organization. I know many others who love it, but it's just never really worked for us.

Overall: Ease of use. Web based and beta platforms.

We moved from the giant database provider to Salsa DonorPro. overall we are glad we moved.

Pros: I like the ease of use. I the learning curve was short so it is a plug and play program. I like copy address function. I like to screen layout.

Cons: There are limits in the design I don't like. We have a lot of important data in forms and it is hard to use that info with donation data. Fix that. We did not get the kind of support I was expecting. We were contracted for a product that didn't exist. We needed P2P in August 2016 and that was a mess. It was hard to find someone honest about mistake as well. We are having a hard time with forms because we have a lot of people filling out forms and paying for others. This is an ongoing problem.

Pros: I love everything about this product. We can do so many more things now than we could before using Quickbooks.

Cons: Customer service has been awful. Weeks have gone by without tickets being answered or resolved. If the product wasn't so great, we would have moved on.

Overall: Our donors are finally all in once place where we can keep track of them and reach out to them.

Pros: I feel like this software is very easy to use. I have personally performed training for personal referrals and they fell in love with the product. I use Engage primarily for fundraising events, email blasts, fundraising pages and event participation. It is great to be able to share a link easily.

Cons: The real only drawback for me is the lack of an app on my smartphone. I have found workarounds, but an app would make this over the top!

Overall: As an ED/DD role, this tool is instrumental in my day to day operations. It is a great go to every day.

I've had mixed feelings about salsa crm.

Pros: Constituent information tracking. I really like all of the information we're able to capture and compile about the people we work closely with.

Cons: It feels a little clunky and outdated. I think there are some ways that it could be a bit more streamlined and made user friendly. I think the user experience on the Engage side of the software is much more acessible for example

Pros: Customer support is great! I have called numerous times as well as emailed and the responses are always spot on and quick!!

Cons: That the program is not that intuitive. You really need to listen to the videos to figure it out. I like things to be easier to use.

Overall: We are able to put many excel spreadsheets into this one program and have a much cleaner donor base.

We are just getting started but are excited about what Salsa has to offer us.

Pros: We chose Salsa first and foremost because it is tremendously economical. Secondary factors include its ease of use and the opportunities for customization.

Cons: Other CRM's we looked at had mobile apps available. We are hopeful that Salsa will develop such a mobile interface soon.

Overall: We are just starting with this software but are excited about what it will have to offer us for donor marketing and engagement.

Pros: Support team and training resources are the best part. It can be daunting to learn new software especially one that includes many features in one. Salsa's training resources are like none I've ever seen before. Their team is helpful, friendly and fun.

Cons: A few small formatting restrictions for email creation were bothersome to me but not enough for me to really dislike the software. Also, Salsa constantly listens to customers for feedback and rolls out updates based on that!

Overall: Consolidating multiple softwares into one was very nice. Also, we gained a more user friendly, useful software for managing our newsletter.

Easy to use, quick and reliable reports, constantly adding elements to make the experience better.

Pros: What I like most about Salsa Labs is the ease of use. Although as the administrator I am in the database daily, everyone on my team can easily find what they need and update donor profiles, and find out information about donors. The robust queries is also huge for me. The fact that I can easily segment out multiple layers of donors makes my job much easier. So far there has not been an output that I am looking for that I can not get through Salsa queries. The integrated emails and unlimited donation pages are also wonderful and have reduced the number of platforms we have to use.

Cons: I do wish there was a little bit more integration between the CRM and the Engage side of the systems. Currently if I send out an email blast it does not add a note or activity to the donor's profile on the CRM side saying this was sent. Currently I have to add them to a group and then add a note to their profile. There are a couple of other little items that are more wish list items rather than items I have to have in a CRM. Also, the customer support, although they are always helpful, it is sometimes hard to get ahold of them. Emails usually take a good 3-7 days to answer (sometimes mores) and if I call I am on hold for a good 15-30 min sometimes. It is nice that I can call anytime, but frustrating that it can take awhile to get ahold of anyone.

Overall: Tracking donors easily, easily sending out communication.

Pros: Ease of use. You can select the modules you wish to use - we don't need them all. I like the fact that Constant Contact is connected - less data entry errors when capturing info. Support services are good.

Cons: Running queries - this aspect is not intuitive to me. I often find myself asking colleagues or the help desk for assistance.

Overall: I have been using Salsa (formerly DonorPro) for about 2 years. The system is easy to use and allows us to segment donors, easily pull reports and capture essential information to complete donor profiles. We also use the Event Management module - while a little cumbersome at first, this module allows us to extract the data in a more efficient manner when soliciting and prospecting for future events.

Recommendations to other buyers: If you can afford a good solid database - Salsa is a good place to start. You can add on if and when needed.

Pros: easy to use, great advocacy tool, great statistics/reports, easy to share on social media

Cons: formatting emails can be difficult if you want to include photos, event registration is a little clunky, hard to get issues resolved through customer support tickets sometimes

Overall: I really like Salsa Engage and how easy it is to use. There are some functionalities that could be improved, and hopefully will be improved as they continue to roll out new product features. Our members find it easier to use that our last system, and with each update, Salsa is offering some cool new features that we will begin to use. There are some things (like event registrations) that don't work as well as we would like them to (you can't delete people who cancel attendance at a free event, and there is no way to pull all the info for registrants and guests in just one list), but hopefully those will be fixed soon. I find the customer service people very responsive, but it isn't always a quick fix for our issues. We have used this product for about seven months and so far are pleased with how it is working for us.

Pros: It is easy to use and intuitive. The ability to create processes for cultivation and other engagement activities is invaluable and makes managing a growing team of fundraisers far easier.

Cons: Salsa CRM being a newer product that was based on the DonorPro platform, the manual wasn't immediately updated to reflect the online, cloud-based product.

Overall: Salsa CRM has been one of the easiest transitions to a new tool that I've ever experienced. From the very beginning, we were supported and guided through preparing our data for the conversion, connected with staff to train us on how to make the most of the features. After we implemented the tool, the wide variety of support and training materials has made getting the answer to any question incredibly easy. Salsa CRM gives you all the functionality of an expensive system at an affordable rate. This is the third organization I've worked for using Salsa and the second that I've led the transition from a different system.

Pros: The integration is nice when it is working to its full capacity.

Cons: Too many glitches, issues with functionality. Things are not as streamlined as they seem to be advertised. A lot of challenges and issues for our team.

Overall: We have been a Donor Pro client for years and were excited about the merger and possibilities with Salsa. However, we felt a bit neglected as a previous client, slipping through the cracks of the transition and experiencing a number of problems because of this. The overall functionality of the product has been cumbersome, making it feel like they launched the merger before ironing out really important issues. Customer service is generally good with very kind people. At first, the response time was great 1-2 days, however, we now end up facing at times 3-4 weeks on some tickets. But, I got tired of calling for an update on an issue, having the person try to fix it on the phone even though they land in the same place as the previous person...I can't figure this out, I need to send it to the developers or update the ticket. In general, I just spent way too much time trying to find answers, solutions, and we are a small organization that cannot afford it. They have updated their website in a way that gets you really excited about the product. It looks great and probably is for a new organization just starting out! But, it just hasn't been a great experience for us. Functionality was up and down. And, as an organization in transition, both with software tools and looking to grow and expand, we thought this would be a helpful tool. It hasn't met our expectations yet, and holding our breath a bit longer to see if things improve.

Recommendations to other buyers: I really wish we were given more attention at the beginning as the merger was happening (Donor Pro - Salsa). I think it would have been good to have specific account managers dedicated to making sure the transition was smooth and with the upgrade, functionality enhanced.

Comments: When I first was learning Salsa, the simple and colorful dashboards allowed me to pick up the functions quickly especially when watching the tutorials. But as I used the software more i encountered some small technical issues with the individual supporter information (hard to detect duplicates, hard to undo errors in uploading etc)

Comments: Our experience with salsa has been great overall! The biggest challenge was the transition process. We were moving from google drive and several other platforms for ticket sales, emails, etc. so we didn't have any experience with this. It eventually all worked out and the Salsa team really stepped up to accommodate our needs.

Pros: The ways both deep and wide to understand and segment our audience

Cons: Would like more back-end flexibility for web pages

Overall: We used to use Constant Contact and iContact, and those didn't offer much more than "create a list, send it, and see aggregate information on results." Now we are able to target and, importantly, create a picture of our donors and subscribers to better connect with them.

Pros: Options for all my needs: CRM database, online fundraising, email blasts and campaigns, event ticketing and more. Easy to learn and use. Intuitive programming and nice visually.

Cons: No 'auto save'. I am constantly 'saving' information so I don't lose my drafted email language or fundraising appeals because they have not installed an 'auto save' feature as of yet.

Overall: I've used Salsa Labs CRM for over 6 years now, and I am able to say they are a perfect fit for my organization and others that are medium to small grassroots groups. With features to support online fundraising, email blasts, email campaigns, social media integration, and event ticketing - on top of providing supporter tracking database abilities- SALSA is exactly what I need. On top of that, the SALSA support team is outstanding. They are knowledgeable, quick to respond, personable and patient. And they always solve my puzzles! I completely recommend SALSA for CRM platform users out there.

Recommendations to other buyers: I know others who have used SALSA and groups like mine are perfect fits for this type and size of CRM.

Pros: Ease of sending tax receipts, powerful reporting

Cons: Volunteer module is extremely weak, they seem to release enhancements without fully assessing how they will affect users

Overall: This software has so much potential and I'm hopeful that as they settle into the merger of DonorPro and Salsa we'll start seeing great improvements and enhancements. In the meantime, their Customer Support is the best I've ever dealt with.

Recommendations to other buyers: Talk to them before buying. They're still in the process of merging the two companies and some things keep getting better, some are stagnant and some go backwards with each new release.

Overall: We're still in the implementation stage. I wish that Salsa would provide more frequent updates and communication about it implementation, but overall, we like the new system. The integrated fundraising and database is the best. They do not have chapter function yet, but it's coming in January we've heard, so that will help us a lot. They are also rolling out peer-to-peer in the new system soon.

Though we don't utilize all of DonorPro's capabilities, it definitely meets the needs of our office in terms of documenting patient info and interactions as well as donation processing. My only hesitation in giving it a perfect rating is the reporting. Not exactly as intuitive as I would like, but still gets the job done.

Comments: DonorPro has a great capacity for maintaining and reporting detailed information! DonorPro allows detailed input of patient information, relationships, services provided, as well as donor and donation data. And then, DonorPro makes retrieval of that information quick and easy. DonorPro's software is designed with the final output in mind. It "asks the questions" that a user needs in order to maintain a detailed and functional database. The user can maintain detailed information on each constituent and can also view the big picture through reports and queries. Also, the training and support are outstanding! There are so many ways to use DonorPro to its max that it is a waste to try to figure out everything on your own. The ease of use is dependent upon the user's investment in the opportunities and resources that are offered. Deep, thorough training is offered regularly; and, when I hit a bump in the road, the support staff is always prompt, courteous, knowledgeable, and helpful. Every single time I have needed support, the team has responded quickly and accurately. There's not much about DonorPro that I don't like; most problems are caused by "user error."

Comments: Versatility: The product is cloud based so I have access anywhere that has an internet connection whether or not I have my own personal computer, tablet or iPhone available to me. Just pop on someone's laptop & login to the GO version losing very little functionality from the desktop / laptop version. So far I love the Vendor because of the excellent customer service that they are providing me.
Experience: So far I have no complaints about either the software or the vendor.
Interested: Get a demo, or better yet get access to login and use a demo database. Try using their customer service department to answer questions during the demo phase.
Ease of Use: You have to get used to how the system was built, and how to move around all the functional available. There is so much that can be customized to your own needs.
Issues - All my issues have been my lack of understanding - once I know how to use it, it has worked flawlessly.
Customer Support - Award winning!! I have gotten quick response to questions posed, and I find that they even offer to assist further after the problem has been resolved.

DonorPro offers just what I need for member & donor management.

There are so many ways to use Donor Pro, but what I like best is how customizable and user-friendly it is. Pros: I've used a variety of donor software programs over the years and in my 15+ years of experience, DonorPro is the best product available. It is intuitive, easy to use, and it does what they say it will! We've been able to reduce fundraising expenses, measure ROI and better segment our constituents through our implementation of DonorPro. Their customer service is far superior to any other I've experienced, and although I've had few issues, when I have trouble, they are always responsive (extremely so). They "get" what we do as nonprofit fundraisers.

Cons: none - they implement product improvements in new releases that reflect user input. Can't ask for more than that.

Overall: Highly recommend.

Pros: I have used Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge and Results Plus, but have found DonorPro to be the most user friendly. And it does everything you need it to do! And most important to me, the Help Desk has been WONDERFUL. The next best thing is that they listen to you if you make a suggestion for an improvement; and they let you know whether it is something others are requesting and if and when they are working on making the change or addition. I wasn't with the Sisters when they did the conversion from Results Plus to DonorPro, but I understand it went very smoothly.
I recommend DonorPro without hesitation.

Cons: I have no "cons" to report!

Overall: Highly recommend!

Pros: DonorPro is easy to use, and has many features, many of which I have not even explored yet. They are continually improving their product, and they have the best customer service department in the industry. DonorPro helps us do what we need to do efficiently and effectively.
The auction module was amazing, and helped us effectively run our auction, thank our attendees, donors, and buyers without anyone falling through the cracks

Cons: There are always going to be ways to improve a product like this, probably something different for every organization that uses it, but for the money and the flexibility, there is no better product out there.

Overall: I highly recommend DonorPro to all non-profits, large and small. The company cares about you and works with you to make sure you are happy and well-versed with their product!

Pros: After seeing a demo of Donor Pro I felt no need to look further. I love the robust nature of the system and how easy it is to use. The customer service is exemplary. Switching to Donor Pro has helped me be more efficient in my use of time, keep all my records in one place, manage my lists more effectively, plan for stewarding my donors and even handle events. It is a super system.

Cons: I don't really see any downsides to the product that I can testify too. I still have some trouble with running queries but that is more me than Donor Pro. If you ask the right question you will get the answer you're looking for. Customer service has always helped me out when I've gotten stuck.

Overall: I highly recommend you check out Donor Pro if you are looking for a database system. We've been so pleased we are having them design our new website.

Pros: We cannot say enough positive things about Donor Pro. We are able to operate almost our entire office off of this software, and use it to accomadate the employees that work from home. It can easily be adapted to fit so many of our non-profits needs. We would be lost without it. The best thing about the company, by far, is their customer service. They always exceed our expectations. Our Director of Development has used several donor management software programs in her previous positions, and stated on many occasions none of them compared to all the features that donor pro offers. She is constantly amazed when she learns about a new feature and the ease of use. One of the things that highly impresses me is how easily you can make a request for an enhancement, and then how quickly you see it incorporated into a future upgrade.

Cons: We have been customers for almost 4 years now and still have no negative feedback to offer.

Overall: We do not hesitate to recommend this software to anyone! After comparing it to some of the other software programs available we have learned two very important things. 1) It incorporates so many things that you would otherwise have to purchase multiple software programs to accomplish what Donor Pro does with just one. The result of this is a very significant savings which means everything to a non-profit. 2) No company has yet compared to their customer service team. They are always ready to hear customer feedback on what they can do to improve their software to better accomodate their customers, and they not only listen, but they actually follow through and incorporate those suggestions.

Gina's training is outstanding! She takes a dry and usually difficult subject/product and makes it easy to understand, implement and put into practical use.

Cons: Sync between DonorPro & Convio not as easy as we were led to believe at time of purchase.

"Patient" does not appear as a different color which would make personal data/relationship management easier.

Overall: Satisfied and looking forward to upgraded features that will help our company.

Pros: This program is very, VERY user friendly. Not much training is necessary. I love the idea of having the User's Manual available online. And if you do have a program, customer service is excellent. Someone always gets right back to you within a timely manner. They welcome feedback from the users of the program which shows they are constantly looking for ways to improve their program!

Cons: Not really a con, but more of a recommendation. 1) having a place on the main constituent screen for an alternate e-mail 2) for the contact of the organization, it would be nice if it were broken down to 3 entries: title, first name, and last name.

Overall: I would definitely recommend this program!

Pros: DonorPro is by far the greatest product out there for small and medium size non profits. The features you get for the price can not be matched.

Cons: A few additional features, which is probably not important to small nonprofits like segmentation for direct mail will be nice.

Overall: I will recommend this product always. It is by far one of the best decisions our Association has made.
