Pros: It is windows based software so it makes using it intuitively. The original modules work really well.

Cons: Tech support not being able to solve bugs in the system. Scheduling and Quality modules don't perform well and aren't intuitive at all. Our customer service representative is only interested in selling products and services not in helping us resolve performance issues with the system.

Overall: It works well keeping us up to date with financials, is okay but flawed at time keeping. Our front office has to spend 2 hours every morning adjusting it. You can tell which job an employee is clocked into. Routing and estimation works well if you are very experienced with a lot of machining and programming background. There are other software packages that don't require as much skill to use.

Software is user friendly to everyone and easy to learn.

Pros: Keeping track of orders and due dates. routing is a big plus to see where the next operation is for the part to be machined.

Cons: The time clock feature needs to be more secure for date entry. Anyone can clock in for any person. Finger print scanning is what we do to be more secure.

Overall: Bar Code scanning and routing and keeping track of orders.

Pros: HOW EASY IT IS TO NAVIGATE THROUGH THE SYSTEM. HOW THE SYSTEM KEEPS UP WITH ALL THE MATERIAL AND STOCK.

Cons: IF YOU HAVE MULTIPLE INVOICES AND/ORDERS YOU HAVE TO CLICK ALL THE WAY OUT AFTER EVERY ENTRY TO START THE NEXT ENTRY

Pros: I like that it integrates with my UPS. That it will sync tracking numbers to my E2 when a customer calls for status it's only a click away.

Very versatile product. Allows a multitude of users to customize the system to the way they want it

Pros: I like the customer support the most along with the systems ease of use. All screens are of similar background which makes learning the new modules much less intimidating.

Cons: The accounting module uses batch accounting which I find a hassle .. I like information flowing to the G/L instantly so I can view my bottom line and see how entries affect my companies financial position.

Overall: The system is very versatile, and can be used for a multitude of industries doing different things. The customer support is unlike anything I have ever used. Every question has an answer before your phone call is over.

Recommendations to other buyers: Excellent software. Versatile. Great customer support.

Comments: Our E2 experience has been great since day 1. Shoptech was the only software company that we were looking at that sent a sales rep to our facility. We had looked at several others at the time and they all displayed their system via "Go to Meeting" scenarios. Rep brought the E2 package to our shop. He gave all of us an opportunity to "test drive" it. By far the most user friendly package we had looked at.
Once we purchased the software and had it installed, customer rep came to our shop for 2 days of hands on training. He was also very cooperative days and weeks after the fact to answer any questions we had as we navigated through the system. We have been using E2 for almost 4 years and it has enhanced our operation on many levels.
I would recommend E2 to anyone considering it.
Very functional, versatile and user friendly.

Pros: Consistency between modules makes ease of use sense

Cons: Scheduler does not go deep enough for our needs

Overall: Excellent Customer support and the ability to problem solve Job Shop issues with product knowledge. We utilize 90 percent of E2 in our business and are happy with its performance in all areas.
It is a very powerful tool that creates valuable reports in which we can make knowledgeable decisions based on facts to drive the business forward on a daily basis.

Recommendations to other buyers: Well worth the effort to implement. I don't think there is an easy way to implement any software of this depth. It forces a business to look deep into itself as to how it wants to operate ect.. and forces you to make decisions that will affect the direction of the company in the future pro actively.

Pros: Ease of use, tractability in the shop and the system works well with the incorporation of ISO

Cons: Not having the ability to make design changes to the travelers and not being able to change parts numbers

Overall: We have been able to start true costing in our shop and it has made pulling reports for our performance measures very easy. I'm looking forward to see other improvements that E2 will create in our facility.

Comments: We¿ve been using E2 for approx. 15 years. It works very well for our shop. It has everything we need to run the day to day business requirements from Estimating to Order Entry to Invoicing to Accounting functions, etc. All the history that is maintained is very useful. Some features can be a little confusing to learn and use, but overall the system is easy to use and implement.

Pros: Many available features

Cons: Few little bugs that their ways of getting around

Overall: E2 best feature is its tremendous support. it is full of features. Capable of recording manufacturing process sheets, keeping part inventory, packing slips and c of c. Their well-structured intro classes will get you up and run.

Comments:
With the implementation of E2, we have been able to have a start to finish manufacturing system. Prior to E2 each department had an individual system of getting the job done. Thus creating lots of paperwork and a costing nightmare. We appreciate the ease working with the software from quoting/order entry, labor reporting, costing, shipping to the syncing of receivables and payables to QuickBooks for our accounting.

E2 was definitely worth the investment of time and dollars.

Comments: you have to pay to be trained on your new system you just purchased from them. you have to pay for a manual on how to use the new system you just bought from them..... If you buy a maintenance agreement on your NEW system then they will educate you on how to use there system.....

Pros: Experience: We are a small family owned business , and we did our research and E2 was the best company to offer shop control in conjunction with our ISO certification. We have been using E2 since 2010.

Cons: Reports do not allow for customization for our specific needs, it can be done but there is an additional cost. We found the scheduling system a challenge to make work.

Overall: The basic software works great for our needs even though most of our production is jobbing "once offs". When we have special requirements , Shoptech offers custom programming.
They will work with us to find a solution, and their service is done in a courteous and timely matter.

Recommendations to other buyers: E2 is a good Software to use but needs one dedicated IT person to understand and implement.

Pros: The scheduling and quality modules are a must have, they work great.

Cons: Accounting module could be better, ACH transactions would be nice.

Overall: E2 has and continues to help us manage our day to day operations. The system is very easy to use and reports are easy to access and customize. The scheduling module works very well and the quality module is a must have. E2 has the best customer support also, they are awesome!

Cons: Complexity of the Scheduling module

Overall: I used this software with my previously employer and together with this employment, I have almost 10 years experience. The accounting and job cost side of the software is very user friendly and can be self taught. The scheduling side of the software can be a challenge, and in my opinion requires specialty training.

Pros: The Quality Mod is worth its weight in gold for our ISO system.

Cons: Can't customize the e-mail sending note section.

Overall: Ease of use is one of the most important things about this system. If there are any questions, you call and get an answer from knowledgeable and courteous reps. I highly recommend to give them a shot!!

Pros: User friendly, and making correction or adding information a very easy task.

Cons: On the accounting side, the bank reconciliation report should also give checks that have not cleared. This may aid in the process.

Overall: This system is actually a fun experience! Makes me look good at my job position! Looing up information is simple and clear. We like the reports we can print out for reviewing. Making corrections in the system very easy to do. I can't say enough about this program, very user friendly!

Pros: The software is pretty easy to use. We can usually get new employees up and running fully on the software with only a couple of days of training.

If you implement the time keeping module it allows for excellent review of jobs and verification of timing for your work.

By far the best part of E-2 is the support. They have a wide range of support tools including Webex training's, customer support, and even analysts who can help implement, and improve your software usage.

Cons: Like most software it is built around a model that may not exactly match your business model. In this case the issue is Parts vs. Jobs. Our shop tracks jobs through the shop that are composed of multiple parts. E-2 works best if one part is one job. While it is possible to run multi-part jobs you lose some of the functionality of the software when you do.

The other limitation is eliminating duplicate data. If you have customers, materials or parts that were duplicated, or just plain created incorrectly, it is cumbersome to remove them from the E-2 system.

Overall: This software has all of the features necessary to quote a project, purchase for a project, and move the project successfully through the shop from one work station to another, accurately accumulating time as it goes.

It will give you insight into your jobs as to estimated performance versus actual performance, it will give you control over your purchasing and a 30,000ft level view of your work center loading.

Overall, it has the capabilities to meet a wide variety of manufacturing requirements with good reporting, and useful tools

Recommendations to other buyers: When implementing the software have a plan. Create consistent naming systems for your customers, materials, and vendors. Train to these naming conventions so that you do not create a bunch of duplicate parts, materials or customers. If you start this way everything will be easier in the future.

Pros: The historical data is only a few clicks away if looking to see what jobs have been run in the past, along with its simplicity to navigate the program.

Cons: I do not like that fact that a lot of information is not live and the GL needs to be posted for the current month. The inventory system could use a lot of tweaks to be a little more simpler to get more accurate information.

Overall: I have found E-2 to be the driving force to our success in this industry. the information needed to do a job is at our finger tips once you become familiar with the program and understand how it works. This is not a big learning curve.

Pros: it is organize and we can find information very easy, we are working on on scheduling to make it more properly

Pros: Easy to navigate

Overall: It has helped tracking of real job cost exponentially. For our type of service there needs to be other options available for reports (I realize we can pay you for custom reports but for our type of business it seems like it should already be there). Also I think that in estimate/quote/orders there should be two lines for misc. tooling/charge because a lot of times there is a setup charge that is recurring and tooling charges that are not always recurring but are incurred none the less. You should also be able to bring data into estimate from quote instead of only the other way around. Small business service companies don't have the time to create an estimate in order to give a price on a job. We can look at a part after being around for almost 60 years and say, eh that looks like about a $200 job. We purchase no material, it is all customer supplied so there are no costs associated with the job other than our labor and occasionally tooling so it is a waste of time to make an estimate when you may not even win the job. We type up a quote and then maybe 3 days or maybe 3 weeks later we win the job I want to be able to go into estimate at this point and pull in the info from my quote...part number, pricing, description....then I can add the routing and the part notes.

Pros: Relative ease of use. I like how the modules work together as you create estimates, add them to quotes, and ultimately, convert the quotes to orders. If you spend your time doing a thorough job on the estimate, the rest of the process flows easily from there.

Cons: Some of the canned reports and screens aren't well laid out.
Lack of multiple routing capability for an item.
No part where-used, which is important when you are using multi-level bills.

Overall: I have been using this software for the past six years in a small, make-to-order machine shop. I use it for everything from the estimating process through invoicing and financial performance reporting. In general, it serves me very well. We do not have sufficient bandwidth to use it to it's full potential, but hope to grow to the level where we can. Shoptech also does a good job of support, which is key with any business control system.

Recommendations to other buyers: This is a very strong package, but it requires a lot of bandwidth to use it to it's full potential. Depending on your size, only populate and use what you can properly support, and then add to what you're using as you grow.

Pros: E2 is a very user friendly program. E2 is easy to maneuver through the software. E2 also offers a traditional standard view or a ribbon view which allows the customer to choose their preference. One of the many particular things I LOVE about E2 is their senior consultant Alicia Fox. I just have to say that Alicia goes above and beyond to help out the customers along with Rhonda Dowd account manager whose response time to my inquiries is outstanding! Also the available online tutorial and the technical support which in my opinion is phenomenal! it offers. "Hands down the BEST software that I have ever used"!

Cons: One thing I would have to say where E2 falls short in my book. The ability to view some of the information. What I mean by this is, some user fields only allow a partial view. Especially in the accounts payable/vendor field.

Overall: For 2 + years now I have had the pleasure of using E2. I have been in the manufacturing business for over 37 years. Many of software programs have come across my path. Without a shadow of a doubt E2 surpasses the software that I have utilized.

Recommendations to other buyers: One of the aspects that I love most about E2 is "they are always trying to IMPROVE and offer a variety of software selections for their customers". Keep up the great work Shoptech!

Pros: E2 Shoptech is easy to learn, keeps track of all necessary metrics, is very forgiving when mistakes are made on self-inflicted data input, and customizable to fit the needs of most companies.

Cons: If I had to find 1 weakness that pertains to our use of the program is that it could use a more visually impacting display for a shipping schedule. Shoptech does compile all necessary shipping data - just doesn't display it in a format that works for us. Probably would work for most other companies - just not a perfect display for us. Shoptech does permit workarounds and we have found this to be a very easy solution. Shoptech automatically sends shipping, BOL, tracking, etc to a standalone shipping schedule display that Shoptech helped us develop. Again, not a serious con as it was easily correctible to our satisfaction.

Overall: As a manufacturer of plastic tubes and extrusions, we have been using E2 Shoptech since 2005. It replaced a very costly "Great Plains" software that we had been using and we have not looked back since. Very satisfied

Recommendations to other buyers: We had thought the changeover to another system would be difficult, but proved to be just the opposite. You will not regret the move to Shoptech.

Pros: It is very easy to use. It is very stable and dependable.

It is very powerful. The implementation team did an outstanding job of understanding our business and processes, then setting up E2 to mirror our business.

Cons: No complaints. It does everything we need it to do.

Overall: We have been users for over 8 years. We implemented E2 and went live in about 3 weeks. Within 6 months, we were using all of the modules. Support is great. We had a dedicated contact for the first year. After that, the support line has very short wait times. My questions are usually answered before I get off of the phone.

The best thing I can say is that we have not had any downtime in 8 years due to and E2 problem!

Recommendations to other buyers: Do your homework before implementing. Understand how you want thing to work and what data you want to bring into the system. This will help your consultant make the implementation quick and tailored to your needs.

Cons: Having to type the exact nickname to find customer/vendor, etc.

Overall: We have been using E2 since 1997. The software is very user friendly and easy to learn. The customer support team is friendly and takes care of any issues with the first phone call 99% of the time. The sales staff calls/emails several times a year to make sure we aren't having any problems and to see if we need anything. They are not one of those companies that just sell you a product and then you never hear from them again. We have referred many companies we work with to them and the ones that purchased E2 really love the software. From the product, to customer service, to support E2 is a top notch company!

Pros: As a previous user of a competitors software, I must say that the ease of use is extremely important to any company; and I find E2 very user friendly! It's everything you need to know or see at your fingertips.

Cons: Our company has transitioned since inception of E2 and now we do an incredible amount of large assemblies and they are on kanban. This is the only area that I can honestly say I wish there was a better way to keep track of stock jobs and inventory. *Small assemblies not on kanban are a piece of cake*

Overall: I started using E2 in 2006 when I began working at Precision Technologies. The software was already installed but it wasn't fully integrated throughout the company. Routers were minimal, no time wanding...just a lot of things that needed to be implemented. I found it extremely easy to get it up and running to where all could benefit from the information collected by E2. Soon we were ready for ISO...and because the software helped to organize our company, that was easy to do!

Recommendations to other buyers: If you are looking for a way to organize your company or are not happy with the software you are currently using...it would be well worth it to have E2 do a demo.

Pros: I like the ability to export reports into excel to keep track of yearly sales by customer as well as keeping track of yearly inventory use.

Cons: Shoptech requires you to pay the yearly maintenance fee in order to receive updates to the system.

Overall: The E2 Shop Systems is very easy to learn and to use. The quick view component is a great feature. This feature allows you to look at real time financial balances, customer and vendor details, without having to close out of the module you are currently working in.

Recommendations to other buyers: The Software is extremely easy to use. It incorporates all the components to run a machine shop.

Pros: It is easy. Easy to get into trouble deleting information especially in the AP Mod. Check writing Mod has a glitch that affects GL Mod. AP Mod doesn't match due to GL Mod. A mess.

Cons: We are trying to fit a round object into a square hole..doesn't work

Overall: Shoptech upgrades are of no value and they charge greatly for their annual support renewal. There is no spell check in the quoting module, no billing address alternatives in AR, no easy way to check previous pricing in purchasing mod, financial mod is not always accurate, need to repost.

Recommendations to other buyers: The reports are from Crystal in our case. Make sure that someone understands this software and can make changes to your reports. You will input everything in E2 and get little out on the reporting end.

Comments: Our experience with E2 has been great. The features have worked very well for us in our quoting process and getting us ready for becoming ISO certified. The only issues we seem to be having is that we get a lot of ERROR codes at random times, for different reasons. Customer service has been helpful, in most or all cases, but it seems that they happen too often.

Comments: I don't know what product the other people on here are reviewing. We have had nothing but problems with E2.

We recently upgraded to the E2 Enterprise System and have spent more time on the phone with E2 customer support than with actual customers. We have had issues with our old version of E2 for years so we finally upgraded to the new system and it seems as though things have only gotten worse.

We are just beside ourselves. If you really scrutinize your data you're not going to be happy. If you want an easy to use reliable system, then look elsewhere.

Comments: E2 is a great system that is very user friendly it is well laid out and not intimidating.
One of the great things is to be able to have multiple screens open at 1 time.
Being able to enter things on the fly instead of having to follow a rigid process.

Some of the reports give too much information that is not required or others with not enough information. More options on the reports would be beneficial to help get the information you want to see however there are ways around it using crystal reports etc.

We like how E2 is laid out in terms of the shop items versus the accounting side and then there is quality. Accuracy and diligence in entering information makes E2 very successful.

E-2 is a great partner in Manufacturing!

Comments: We have been partnering with E-2 since 2006! For 8 years, they have made a great addition to our ISO Audit process. The audits usually take just a day since the auditors find all our information so well documented and organized using the E-2 Quality Module. We also just recently updated our server and network infrastructure. There was almost no downtime due to the quick, responsive and very helpful specialists in customer service and technical support. We were able to push our data from the old server to the new server in a matter of minutes with the help of this great team!
Looking forward to many more years as we continue to grow our business with the partnership of Shoptech Software and E-2.

Comments: E2 has allowed us to capture real time data from the shop floor with a few clicks of the mouse. It has streamlined scheduling of customer's orders in a busy job shop atmosphere. We never had this level accuracy regarding times charged to jobs. Also our inventory of raw materials is accurate and reliable. Estimating is extremely fast and easy. E2 has improved the overall efficiency of our operations.

Pros: Tracks job status from order entry thru the billing cycle very efficiently.
Intuitive screens and very short learning curve for new users.
With the exception of WIP, The provided accounting reports have been perfect for our needs without the need to customize.
Support is excellent with very short response time and usually resolved within the same phone call. And to my knowledge, all support is U.S. based with no language barrier to overcome.

Cons: Purchase Order/Receiver discrepancies are difficult to resolve.
Corrections to Posted periods are Cumbersome.
Does not allow for detailed invoicing without exporting to other application.

Overall: Highly recommend.

Pros: Easy to use with good customer support. All the modules are similar, so training new users is generally easy.

The available modules cover most business needs (i.e. quoting through collections including quality).

Cons: The scheduling module has limitations. The linking of jobs for stock jobs, etc. for large blanket orders that we want to setup multiple times causes issues.

The quotation module has limiations. For example, quoting larger volume jobs with multiple setups requires a work around. Also, allocating costs accross pieces requires thought and a work around.

Inventory management has limitation. We don't like how E2 handles inventory locations and quantities that have been transferred to jobs.

The system lacks a good CRM, equipment maintenance, and employee training option. Although it contains some of these features, they don't work well and are hard to adapt.

Overall: I do recommend this system to other users. It is a good system, but it requires adaptation and work arounds for each company's unique processes.

Pros: This is very fluid. From initial customer contact, through invoicing. It forms a completely solid chain of events (traceability). It is relatively easy to use from start to finish. Tech support is amazing and worth the investment. Features are quite customizable. System can accomodate manufactured parts, as well as pure resell items.

Cons: It has idiosyncrocies, that once you figure them out, you can circumvent/avoid, but there is a learning curve associated with these. More in depth features are more difficult to use effeciently.

Overall: This system is great for a pure manufacturer or a MFG/Resell operation. It is probably fine for pure resell also, but overkill for this. Highly recommended.

Pros: We've used E2 for over 10 years. It's done everything that's come up for our business. A couple of the nice features is it does everything from accounting to quotes. Screens are similar so its not hard to learn new features. And all the data flows thru so you only enter data once. We run a $3M company with 2 people in the office and 18 machinists on the shop floor ( and we have time to spare in the office ). Before E2 we had 5 people in the office. Tech support has been great. But truthfully we don't use it much. The system is very stable.

Cons: A little slow in releasing new versions capable of running the latest and greatest window versions. But I guess that's to be expected with all the testing and such.

Overall: All and all a great prduct for us. I highly recommend to any similiar business. We reviewed 6 other systems prior to buying E2. And I couldn't be any happier with our choice .

Cons: Hard to change certain things after implementation

Overall: This is a great software. Just don't under-estimate the planning process. We had to implement in a hurry and in turn we rushed the planning process. The software is still awesome and has helped us tremendously, but I think if we planned it out more thoroughly it could be even better. If I could go back or if we ever plan to reimplement the software, I would take advantage of one of their consultants or techs before implementing again.

Job cost analysis does not calculate invoiced amounts when PO amounts differ.
Restricted editing of purchase order when partial quantity has been received. Suggest moving demand to 2nd line item so that PO can be altered for next release instead of moving quantity to new PO. Would also like to see document attachment in Receiver so that certs and inspection documents could be attached by user.

Overall: Although we struggled with implementation and initial system setup, overall E2 is a great system and a huge value for dollars spent! Again, as the quality system administrator, the E2 quality module affords the ease of giving auditors a quick view of the effectiveness of the QMS and does the document organization for me. Charts and graphs are quickly generated with clear data points. The quality section does not give the appearance of an "afterthought" as many, many systems' quality modules exhibit. The CFO here is still very partial to Quickbooks but I believe that we could function very well using E2's Accounting module alone.
This system was clearly built by people who understand manufacturing processes and challenges and that has clearly made all the difference!

Pros: I like the way invoices are processed and can be updated at any time.
Quick view is great tool. I love having all the information gathered in one place.

Cons: Items can only be invoiced in whole numbers. We bill in percentages and it makes billing cumbersome.
The aging is hard to read when you want history. I prefer a more stramlined version showing the invoice paid and the checks on a separate line, not separated.
Inventory and allocations are in whole numbers and we work in decimals.

Overall: I have recommended E2 to others that need an integrated system. There are drawbacks, but they can be worked around.

Pros: We have been using the software for some time and have been extremely satisfied with it. Very easy to use and follow the flow from start to finish. New employees are able to catch on fast, very little time is required on training. I can't say enough about the support. We have had some issues, mainly our fault, and the response time was very fast and the support staff has saved us many a times.

Cons: Could use a few more things, like being able to select mutilple options when searching. Also the accounting side seems a little to basic for our accountants.

Overall: Very, very good - I have suggested your software to many people.
