Pros: Being a view only user, I have limited access to the actual functionality of the data base and therefore am unable to project what I like most.

Cons: There are too many steps to get to a report. As a view only user I have to compile the same report daily. I do not have permission to save it. To get a complete donor record, one needs to copy 3 pages, cumbersome to work with

Overall: I am a view only user. I viewing this data base several times a day, viewing major donor records to provide information to the direct mail coordinator to enter data, update and edit.

Has lots of potential but current version needs someone with high level of SQL knowledge.

Pros: Almost every screen is customizable. Dashboard doesn't fit your needs? Create a new one. Need to track different KPI's? Make a report and import it in your Dashboard. View only the most relevant gift info. Create tabs for donors that display only the info (and calculations) you want. Great stuff.

Cons: The software is currently in a great state if you have someone who's a high-level SQL programmer. It's in a decent state if you don't.

This is especially true with regard to reporting, and it is not wholly user-friendly to those without software/database experience. To counter this, the ClearView staff have provided several "safe" domains wherein any user can create an accurate report, however they are very simple.

All that said, the basic reporting module is limited. I don't know SQL and I've run up against limitations in this module. (An advanced version of the reporting module exists, however it is for those fluent in SQL. )

Overall: It stores tons of donor information and is very customizable.
Valuable reporting features.
Great dashboards.

It has potential. Self-hosted product was better than PMOL.

Pros: Overall quality is good and so it's ease of use and functionality. We were always very happy with Pledgemaker and PMOL retains many of the self-hosted features we were accustomed too. If anything, there are too many features, but since everyone is free to pick and choose, you can keep it simple or pile on the features!

Cons: I'm disappointed, of course with the cost since our annual bill for moving from self-hosted to PMOL will eventually jump by ten times! The report function is pitiful. It's hard to run a lot of SQL reports in a timely manner. I don't know what the problem is here. I'm glad I have Business Objects and can run that. Customer support is okay. This department could certainly be beefed up.

Overall: Overall, I have been a pleased customer for 23 years. I feel like the company worked better when Dave Spacone was running it day-to-day. Things seem to have changed since then.

I have been using this software since the transition from PMOL.

Pros: Many updates have been made to accommodate our particular ministry making retrieving and updating donor information easier and quicker.

Jill Lemme is an excellent trainer. I've attended many of her webinars.

Cons: We've had lots of trouble with reports: running slowly or not running at all (particularly on dashboards). Getting problems resolved quickly has also been a problem.

Pros: The best part of the software is the up time. It is rarely down. Also the support is one of the best. The screens are really easy to follow and match. Also the search of prospect has gotten a lot better.

Cons: There are still a handle of functions that are still only on Pledge maker and not ported over to Clearview

Pros: Very intuitive, easy to navigate, non-ambiguous descriptors and terms. Fast login and most excellent, responsive customer service/help desk system when necessary (and that's just when running reports). Also wish things were relative so we could use browser of choice, not just Explorer.

Cons: The only cons I have are related to the structure/access that must be in place for downstream users such as myself by our corporate headquarters. I cannot make simple address, spelling or phone number changes for my donors, but that is not ClearViews issue. I also only wish I had more time to dig in, play around and let the system flex its muscles for our Corps!

Overall: daily reference

I think ClearView is an excellent system. I have used a number of other CRM's for donor management.

Pros: I like how flexible the system is. We can configure labels and VAE screens easily for our needs and create new tabs/dashboards as well.

Cons: My main complaint is that I continue to have to use Pledgemaker and a FTP site. Once we are off these platforms and just on CV, things will greatly improve.

Pros: Easy to learn program. Great training program. Love the detailed information on constituents available once in the system.

Cons: Each company has its own set of business rules. Sometime that can be confusing to know that everyone is following the same rules.

Overall: User friendly software that is easy to learn. Clearview support staff are very helpful whenever needed.

Pros: Flexibility - you can build it they way you want

Cons: Flexibilty - what you want to build, isn't necessarily best practice

Overall: As a product, Clear View is chock full of goodies that allows you to build your CRM the way you want.

Recommendations to other buyers: You should offer best practice guidelines on how to achieve the best results. A user steering committee for enhancements may also be helpful to bring more common functionality to the customers.

Pros: Dashboards and ability to favorite reports that we run frequently.

Cons: There are some ways I would like to pull data but I can't do it without getting help from others.

Overall: I am not a master database user so I know the system has the power to do way more than what I have done with it. I like the dashboards and the reports I do know how to run are very useful. We use it in coordination with our national office and our staff member there helps us make better use of the program.

Pros: User friendly, mostly obvious what fields you need to view to find data, easy to make a donor profile report, relatively easy to run program summary reports. Varying levels of my staff have been able to figure it out...

Cons: The payments versus gifts tabs - there is no one place where it seems like you find out the balance of a pledge or total pledge amounts while also seeing all the gift information in one place; organizations typically have more than one contact person and there is no place for this information. Searching for records is challenging because Aliases have to be created exactly the way someone might search instead of just looking for records that may contain the information.

Overall: We have a unique situation in that our direct marketing vendor sourced ClearView for us originally and at that time they "Shutoff" much of the functionality that makes a CRM like Clearview most effective. As we turn back on those functions we appreciate the system more. However, there are always seems to be limits - for example there is no easy way to link a gift to solicitation or an action; Opportunities' reporting is limited; you can't edit a connection; aliases have to be exact which limits the capacity to use this function to eliminate creating duplicate records and more easily finding records. ClearView doesn't allow you to pull one mailing list with organization names in a separate column while the org contact lines up with the individual record names. When you export a report to excel, there doesn't appear to be away to remove the auto link to ClearView, which can be very frustrating when our working solely in the spreadsheet. Perhaps there is a way but I wish it was more obvious.

Recommendations to other buyers: The batching process of the gift data is so removed from the data that the front line fundraisers use that they do not typically see the duplicates they create or inconsistencies in the data they enter. I wish there was a way for the batching/uploading process to somehow be more intuitive to avoid duplicates, or create records/populate fields more consistently.

Pros: User-friendly, it's made to adapt to our needs.

Cons: Some of the reports are a bit clunky and don't provide the information as easily as I might like.

Overall: I use PledgeMaker more frequently than ClearView, but find the reports in CV to be especially helpful and pretty easy. Our customer service is excellent -- Customer service representative provides great support to us. She's knowledgeable, prompt, courteous, professional.

Pros: It is simple to use while giving you a wide variety of reports and tracking of donations. The training sessions are extremely informative.

Cons: I can't think of a negative.

Overall: I recently phoned the representative at Softrek regarding a problem in entering a pledge payment which was rejected when I wen to post it. I received prompt and courteous service, and the issue was resolved by her within 12 minutes of my call. Thank you Clearview and Softrek!

Recommendations to other buyers: I can't think of anything. I used Pledgemaker for 3 years, then upgraded to Clearview. It is a wonderful vehicle in keeping our data base updated. We have thousands of donor names in our data base.

Comments: Report pulling is straightforward and easy to manage. Processing donations through batch is somewhat laborious if any corrections need to be made. There are too many steps to take to make changes in a batch and there is no F6 function like there is in PledgeMaker.

Pros: Still new and I only access the old pledge maker site I don't use the Clearview site except to log in.

Cons: To me when I watched the webinar or tutorial a few months ago it seemed confusing and more difficult.

Overall: What I like best is the ability to go to the old format I used as a pledge maker user. I already know how to use that and understand it so I was happy to see that option to hit "operation tools" and there it is. that's just great! :)

Pros: Ability to track, assign and schedule tasks.

Cons: Continually created duplicates while interacting with DonorDrive. Lack of ease to input mass completed actions.

Overall: Our organization started using ClearView in the last year. The system has been great for tracking interactions with participants. Being able to see who and when each person was last contacted has been valuable in streamlining interactions. Being able to create and assign tasks/action items is also great because you can see when they have been completed or if more follow-up is needed. There are much more great functions that I am still learning to use. The training and support provided have been in-depth and easy to understand. As with anything, there is a learning curve, but overall a great program!

Recommendations to other buyers: Great software. I know interactive training is provided during scheduled times. It is tough when you learned something a few months ago and go to use that function for the first time today. Quick links to a step by step process either as a video or document would be helpful. I know there are processes I do not use because I can't remember all of the steps to use it and I do not have time to spend trying to figure it out.

Cons: Speed. It varies day by day.

Overall: There are 5 of us here in our office using Clearview at the same time. We all experience different issues when it comes to how fast Clearview processes. One person is fine but then someone else can go get a cup of coffee and come back and Clearview is still processing and showing the spinning circle. We constantly ask it to check the workstations the internet connection and we are told they are fine. No one can give us answers.

Clearview: The easiest to use donor relationship software I've used in my 25 years of development!

Pros: Easy to use which increases the likelihood that I will. Use it that is.

Cons: Not enough training both live and archived (at least I haven't been able to find any). It would be helpful to have a series of videos online in 30 minutes time frames taking the new user through the features of the program. Live webinars would also help. The monthly webinars currently offered do not always match what I need to know.

Overall: The GUI is so well done and intuitive making daily use of the program a pleasure to use. Unlike other systems I've used over the years, both server and cloud-based presented so many challenges that using them was anywhere from uncomfortable to dreadful. Clearview makes it easy to navigate to find the information we need to do our job easy and fast. I would recommend Clearview to anyone who asks my opinion about donor management programs.

Recommendations to other buyers: We are a split customer data entry folks using Pledgemaker and development folks using Clearview. While the data is exactly the same and seamless the GUIs are different which, at times, causing confusion as to what we are looking at when we need to interact with data entry folks. The faster you phase out Pledgemaker the better.

Comments: What stands out to me with CRM is their customer support. OUTSTANDING! The CRM itself is very user-friendly. The jasper reports seem more technical to me and if you are a company that uses subscriptions you have to use Pledgemaker, which is extremely inconvenient. I will be thrilled when this feature and a few others are merged with CRM.

Comments: I have tested the prospect module and report writing. The search functionality is excellent. The layout of the screens is good as well. The ad-hoc SQL writing is very nice- takes getting used to. The saving of the SQL to rerun seemed to be a bit challenge when locating the saved SQL to rerun-probably once I was used to it, it would not be an issue.

Pros: The new donor profile look is easy to navigate.

Cons: Volunteer tracking is still something I would love to see.

Overall: As part of a Development Department, I have used the database to enter new donors, batch donations, track in-kind donations, pull reports, etc. My experience has been good although the report functionality has been a bit of a challenge for us. We work closely with your support team on a monthly basis to constantly update our records and figure out how to pull more accurate reports.

Comments: The Very intuitive program, you do not need to be a techie to make it work for you. We have changed the look of panels, had the ClearView team create need panels for specific needs. The customer service is outstanding. All development databases are very similar but ClearView sets itself apart by the quality of its customer service.

Pros: the way the data is tied together across modules, ability to make changes and corrections, merging profiles

Cons: some of the reporting is a bit cumbersome. not always easy to go back and change an existing report

Overall: Clearview is always being improved upon. User suggestions and requests are always considered during the upgrade process which makes for a product that is always meeting and exceeding user expectations. Support staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. Always a great experience!

Overall: It is mostly very good. The only negative is at times when a new update is put in play things that used to work ( like buttons on a certain page ) quit working and it is hard to get the development people to look into and fix them back to original state

Pros: Powerful.

Overall: I use CV as a programmer, providing support to our end users. I customize reports, run data imports/exports, do data updates, troubleshoot for users, etc. I find the functionality of CV to be comprehensive and flexible, lending itself to new functionality and changes. Pros: A systematic process to capturing data and the ability to combine its capability with other fundraising tools.

Cons: The reports section could be more user-friendly

Overall: We switch to donor-centric platform and worked with the Clearview staff to design the system and train all the fundraisers. They were awesome and the system is up and running and already paying dividends.

Recommendations to other buyers: no - great job

Comments: New to this CRM but even those who have had several years of use have difficulty knowing exactly where to go and how to assemble reports to get the exact info they need. ClearView has a ton of info but needs to be a bit more intuitive. Even when working with a CSR, she was very friendly and helpful but she had some difficulty in finding the right pieces and where they could be found to build an ad-hoc custom report.

Pros: The ease of use for the reporting.

Cons: It is a little slow in pulling up the reports.

Overall: I use Clearview mostly for reporting. The reports are easy to use and manipulate. The customer support response is relatively quick and easy.

Comments: Clearview, especially the Opportipunities Management module, is Fundraising 101 (In A Perfect World). It was written as if every donor is going to follow a set path, and if they don't there are no detours. I'm sure fundraising administrators think it's the cats pajamas, because if done correctly it oozes data. But inputting that data is annoyingly complex, time-consuming and overly rigid. CV and OM do not allow for the variations in the often complex and unpredictable dance between institution/relationship manager and donor/prospect. The donor's best interest is not taken into account.

Comments: I think Clear View has the potential to be a very user friendly program for our Mission. However I have not had the opportunity to use the program extensively. I have had a few training sessions. Once the busy season is over I plan to use Clear View more and Business Objects less.

Comments: I have always found the database system itself very user friendly and easy to understand. It's also fairly easy to train users in, and in my role as the Donor Database Manager I do 99% of the training and I appreciate that! I really like the recent updates to the CV interface and think that our users will like it also.

I prefer the Business Objects reporting tool to the Business Intelligence reporting tool, but feel that the product has improved and hope it will continue to improve as time goes on.

Comments: ArtsWave has used Pledgemaker since the early 90¿s. During this time we primarily used the accounting side of the software to track pledges, pledge payments, and donations. We also used the database to drive acknowledgement mailings. During this time the database has proven to be rock solid.

Over the last five years or so we have continued to expand the use of the database to drive targeted emails and appeals as well as analyze trends.

With the implementation of Clearview CRM we have again been able to expand our use of the data into the area of donor relationship management. The software now allows us to track every meeting or correspondence with our donors. This is very convenient and has allowed us to share this information easily with others in our company, much easier than sharing spreadsheets or personal notes.

We have also been able to for the first time in recent years manage our entire campaign with one product. By integrating our employee pledging tool with Clearview CRM and making full use of both opportunity management and JasperSoft reporting, we have been able to produce meaningful real time reports detailing how the campaign is progressing on multiple levels against projections and goals.

The JasperSoft reporting package is very nice. We have one developer license, and with that are able to develop complex reports that are driven by user input parameters. This is a vast improvement over the previous reporting package associated with Pledgemaker. The reports can be exported in excel, word, or PDF format, and can be simple lists or complex pixel perfect reports. The reports can be scheduled and emailed automatically as .PDF files also which can widen the audience without the need for additional licenses.

Clearvew CRM is a big improvement over the previous generation Pledgemaker product. If it¿s been a while since you¿ve considered Softrek for your fundraising and CRM software, you might want to give it a look.

Comments: ClearView CRM improved how we operate and professionalized our contact with donors. One of the brightest spots in ClearView CRM is the Opportunity Module which allows us to monitor our major gift officers progress and the stage of their ask as well as accurately project our future revenue. We also need to track a lot of data such as magazine subscriptions, volunteers, field offices (units), pledges, memberships, and most importantly, donor prospects. The need to have everything in one system with complex security to ensure confidentiality is a must and ClearView CRM delivers on all points. Softrek runs their business in an efficient manner that focuses on customer service as well as providing state of the art technology to their clients. I strongly recommend implementing ClearView CRM and partnering with Softrek to run your operations, I'm sure both the product and the technology will exceed your expectations.
