Pros: We like the tiered permissions (security groups) function, which set this system apart from many other offerings in the donor management arena. The customer service has always been great when we've had problems. The reporting capabilities of eTapestry are absolutely incredible.

Cons: The software is not always intuitive, and it's only easy to use after lots of time has been spent learning its layout and functionalities.

Overall: We are able to track and communicate with our donors through this system. The reporting functionality is amazing for the price, and after a user has invested quite a bit of time into learning how everything works, the system has many capabilities that have been extremely useful for our organization.

Highly recommend eTapestry for your fundraising software. Absolutely worth the money.

Pros: Blackbaud's eTapestry is highly functional and very easy to use. We have almost 7,000 records in the eTapestry database. We found for queries, reporting and lists we are able to create these quicky to return the information we desire. Also, there are customizable features that we use frequently for our specific donor interests.

Cons: Our organization does not have anything negative to say about eTapestry. The service is fabulous and so is the product. We wish it were a lower cost, but feel we get the value out of the software.

Overall: Easy to set up queries, fast reporting features and an increase of donations because we have more time to focus on the donor and not the software.

Our database of donors is easily accessible and editable.

Pros: I like the account creation and intuitiveness of the software to manage duplicates. I often use this feature to double-check names and relationships for multiple other uses.

Cons: It's really difficult to understand how to run queries and feel like your data is complete sometimes.

Comments: We are a small public garden who recently purchased a 3 year subscription to eTapestry. Don't be fooled by the smooth sales pitch - the service is appallingly bad. We purchased what was sold as unlimited phone support at an additional cost. One month later we still have not been able to get a call answered. When we call there is a message saying we are not entitled to phone support despite the check having been cashed one month ago. Contacted them again this morning - still waiting 4 hours later for help - currently on hold. It may be a decent program but there is no help getting it set up. Buyer beware!!!

Comments: eTapestry is a good constituent management system for a smaller non-profit organization. Our organization has grown in volume and complexity very quickly. This unexpected growth has made tracking a bit more involved than our small team can handle. But with that said, I believe eTapestry has a great capacity for detailed tracking that would help any non-profit as long as it's set up in a way that allows for growth.

Comments: The system we found very functional and inclusive in all donor and fundraising needs. The record keeping is great and allows you to track what was sent and when and how often. It allows you to find any donor's information to ask them for another donation or a thank you letter. It is a little on the expensive side and not the easiest system to figure out, but all in all, i would recommend it.

Comments: In etapestry, I mainly use the email function. Which is very easy to use, and I love the reports I can see. Being able to email our database at large, or in segments, has changed the way we communicate with our donors. It has been so incredibly helpful to see who opens what, and how individuals interact with our emails.

Pros: Customer service

Cons: Old design, clunky, not intuitive.

Overall: It's too complicated for small organizations and not robust enough for large organizations. Since bought by Blackbaud, it seems to have been de-prioritized in terms of features, upgrades and design. Customer support is very good - but you'll need them on speed dial. Great people, great company - but this produce needs a little more TLC. Email marketing function is almost un-usable in today's mobile environment. No moves-management function, etc. 'Entirely customizable' means you have to build your own systems within. Great for basic donor info and gift tracking. Took us a couple years to 'right-size' it for us - and even then, when you have more 'work-arounds' than original offerings, you wonder if there's something better.

Pros: This is cheaper alternative to RaiserEdge if you like blackbaud products

Cons: It is a Blackbaud product. This was purchased by Blackbaud and it limited it.

Overall: This is a CRM tool that is owned by Blackbaud that is for non-profits that have a lower budget. This CRM is very basic that gets the job done

Recommendations to other buyers: now there are similar products with this price point that does not have the blackbaud red tape

Comments: I've successfully recommended (and often purchased, converted and protocoled) this particular tool on eight different occasions. It is easy to use (I can get a volunteer using it within 30 minutes), has loads of great features and is flexible enough to suit a wide range of organizations. While I agree that customer service has been spotty since Blackbaud acquired it, it is possible to request a more experienced person to assist you if you find yourself getting frustrated. An all round great product.

Comments: In over 30 years of fundraising practice and consulting, I have led quite a few database set ups and conversions. I go through the whole rfp and review process each time to avoid cutting corners and making sure we have the right tool for the job. I have gladly selected eTapestry twice for my own employers and recommended it to several other clients as a great starting place for building and growing a quality back office. There are other good systems out there, but I have always found that eTapestry provides the "GREAT." Great product, great service at a great price.

Comments: I've been the eTapestry database administrator for about 2 years at my organization. Overall, I find the product to be relatively easy to use and learn. There are lots of options for customizing the product which is helpful for many organizations. It also works nicely with most other Blackbaud products which is helpful in creating a seamless system. It has a wide range of capabilities including event registration and email campaign components.

Comments: We have been using eTap for over a year now and have been well pleased. We did experience growing pains which were user oriented. Comments: You do NOT have to be a developer to understand the site. It is a point-and-click service that is user friendly, as long as you take some time to learn how to use the site. Creating queries and reports is super easy. They have excellent service reps you can chat up in case you're having trouble. You can track program participation, donors, grants, membership, events, appeals....basically any point of contact with any constituent. The best part: It is a HIGHLY customizable site so you can track the info your organization wants to track, not just what some developer thinks you should track. I love eTapestry and have used it at multiple organizations.

Comments: This software is horrific. After working in many other systems this one is the worst. Agree with all other comments.
You have to be a programmer to use it - it's antiquated and they aren't updating it. Every function requires more money and hours of training... The customer facing functionality is non-existent... and on... and on... and on...

Pros: On the surface, the features are hard to beat. Their reputation through Blackbaud would lead you to believe they are a top notch organization. Their sales efforts and people are really good...attentive and always available.

Cons: This company is resting on a PAST reputation and on the coat tails of Blackbaud. As a previous Director of Account Services at two major fundraising agencies serving domestic and international nonprofits, I felt I had selected the best company for my nonprofit's fundraising soluction. BIG mistake! They know NOTHING of project management in the set up of a new client. They don't provide a schedule of deliverables and who provides what when. They do not do wire frames on their website or eCommerce forms so you don't know what you are getting. At every turn they tell you they will charge you more if you change anything. They start NOTHING until they have EVERYTHING they want but give the client NOTHING to see what we will be getting from them. THEN they take 6 weeks and don't tell you a date when anything will be delivered. When you get it, you can be completely surprised because you have no idea of what they will be delivering because they did no layouts to have you approve.

Overall: This company lacks effective project management and communication with their clients, especially during the set up of their services. When they fail at communication and project management they blame the client and make you feel as if you are the "client from HELL!" Since I was director of Account Services at two major fundraising agencies, I DO KNOW project management and how to effectively communicate schedules, expectations, project responsibilities and deliverables to clients. They are failing miserably and I did not expect to get this horrible level of service and then made to feel as if I was creating the problem! if you want to abdicate all responsibility in what eTapestry does and get what they give you, you will probably like this company. However, if you are at all knowledgable and want things done in a professional and organized manner having input in how it turns out, don't go with eTapestry. You will be sorely disappointed and face ongoing threats of increased costs.

Pros: THERE ARE NO "PROS"! Tons of features but you can't figure out how to use them.

Cons: Bad customer support, 14 steps required to get a printout of your donors alphabetically and even more for something more complicated. Nearly 100 hours of training required to be able to use it. You don't have to be a aerospace engineer to fly IN a plane. You have to be a programmer to use this product. I HAVE A JOB. I don't have time to become a eTapestry expert and you can't use it unless you are an expert. 3 years of paying for it and we still aren't any more familiar with it than after our first year. We're done!

Overall: DO NOT GET SUCKED INTO THIS PRODUCT.....NOT EVEN FOR FREE!

Not intuitive, online training is cumbersome, boring, many many hours.

Pros: Many features, reasonable price (except for training modules).

Cons: Not intuitive or user friendly, difficult to wade through at first. I paid $500 for their
'training' which consists of hours and hours of videos, some with 'computer voices' rather than humans. When I asked support to help me set up a mass email, they told me NO, that I had not spent enough time going through the training for them to be willing to spend the time to help me. I was shocked that after paying for training that they would do this.

Overall: I'll give it a c minus - not recommended. Even though the product has some very good features, there is a large 'hump' you have to get through in order to get it up and going. If you insist on using it, buy unlimited phone support and forget the expensive training modules.
