Pros: Ease of setup and configuration

Overall: BrightIdea has been a great find. I have experience working with a host of leading solutions, including the likes of Spigit, Imaginatik, Hype, Hyve, etc. but I found BrightIdea to be a cut above the rest. They are passionate and offer you more than just a solution. They bring out the psychology behind actions that help turn around an organization. They are passionate about innovation rather than just merely interested in pushing their product. They are keen to see you become successful using it. They are also patient about letting you get up to speed.

Recommendations to other buyers: Use the platform. Use it well. More importantly, act on time on the ideas you get. In the absence of an execution plan, the platform could easily lose relevance with your audience. The platform has to be constant nourished. BrightIdea provides the right tools in a place, but it is up to the organization that purchased the platform to make the best use. And, BrightIdea will be eager to help you with it.

Pros: It's extremely easy for users to understand and use it, thereby making engagement an easy sell. The features they support are also extensive and they continue to add new ones to support a growing program.

Cons: A few bugs have made setup from an admin standpoint more time consuming then they should be, but work around are available and they are quick to respond to our needs.

Overall: Using BrightIdea to help run our innovation challenge program has been a wonderful experience. The software is easy to use for both admin's and most importantly users. Their features cover all aspects of the innovation life-cycle allowing for everything to be completed and tracked in one place. And their customer support has exceed our expectations, they have done a fantastic job and helping us scale our program in the right ways.

Pros: - modular and easy-to-set up / easy-to-use platform
- brightidea accustomed to dealing with large international groups (security & integration is made easy by the team
- handy tools to get ideas to be evaluated (simple to set scorecards, basic single scale assessment tool...)
- reactive support team in case of technical issues. You are never alone with your problem
- talented team of Professional services team to get you up and running

Cons: - no in-platform design thinking type of "prequel exercise" in order to better identify the user pain point before idea submission
- 2 yr-contracts take the level of users at the end of 1st year as reference point for year 2

Overall: I have been using the Brightidea Platform to run an idea crowdsourcing contest in my company (international insurer). the Platform is extremely modular and has all the features it takes to make your innovation program a success.

Recommendations to other buyers: With Brightidea, I am able to run an internal idea crowdsourcing contest that enrolls 25,000 people yearly. If you want to make it a success, don't hesitate to spend extra money on Professional services: their team will guide you on what needs to be done AROUND the tool to make your program a success (have CEO sponsorship, think about an incentive plans for all your stakeholders etc)

Comments: Having used various software versions of the Brightidea application suite since 2005 I have always found the ease of use (end user experience/interaction, the challenge management and the administration tools) plus our ability to fully utilise and flex how we rise to our many business needs to be the strongest aspects of the Brightidea products.

Support has always first rate and Brightidea are very responsive to our demands, I have been able to build up a very good working relationship with the support and development team, who work with me and my team to enable us to get the most out of our ideas application.

I have and continue to look at the market and I have had many discussions with various vendors and for me Brightidea continue to offer the best solution.

It's been a really positive experience.

Comments: Pro: I really enjoy working with the Brightidea software; it's easy to use and to train others to use. Our account manager partners with us on our goals to ensure we meet or exceed them. The technical team is great too with quick response times and on-time delivery of enhancement requests.

Con: Like many tools, sometimes there are glitches in the tool. However, when I raised a ticket in the past, their support team looked into the issue almost immediately.

Notes: The idea management section allows a private space to collect and manage feedback from your evaluators. This is extremely helpful for those administering the process... excels are dreadful to try and collect a score from an evaluator via email, let the tool do the work for you.
