Pros: Customer support is amazing! Can call at anytime to get your questions answered.

Cons: The price is high.

Overall: Mindbody is very helpful in managing a yoga studio. It gives options for different rooms for classes and because of its popularity the students are comfortable with using it online. The reports are detailed and the app is great for creating interest in the studio. When a student purchases in the studio this is quite a few clicks to get through and it slows down the signing in process. Customer support is fantastic!

Pros: Options and reporting tools.

Cons: Very expensive for multiple locations, they don't hold true to their promises, they raise their rates all the time and will charge you a huge fee to migrate your information to a new software. Bad business practices all around.

Overall: I helped set up MindBody in 2010 for a studio I managed and I loved the software and customer service. When I went out on my own in 2012 so I called MindBody and set up my own database and again it was great with responsive customer service. I made a deal with them at them at the time to discount 3 of the 4 sites I had because I am an Outdoor Boot Camp program and we don't have a brick and mortar location, this worked out great, until they decided to just stop honoring the discount for no particular reason. Instead of paying $220, now I pay almost $500 for much less functionality. It's just my wife and I so this seems a bit extreme considering one of our locations only has one boot camp a week and we are paying $125 a month just so it shows up on the map in their app. For the past 2 days their support has been out on a team event and their customer care leaves at 3pm apparently each day now because they don't have enough people to handle the call volume. I used to be able to call early in the morning or in the evening and get connected to a very helpful person within just a couple minutes, now it is a complete nightmare. I recommend using any other software company as their track record is that they don't care about customer loyalty and customer support is the last thing they intend to invest in. However, sales people are always available to chat up. I am currently looking to migrate all my data to a new system and that will be expensive, so I recommend just starting with someone else.

Recommendations to other buyers: It's very complicated and works out well if you can contact their customer support. I would have recommended them in the past but now it takes a minimum of 90 minutes to contact someone, I've gone days where I run out of time, which makes it impossible for me as a business owner to set aside time to make changes or update my site.

Comments: I've been using Mindbody for around a year. They have great customer support (you're never routed to India or the Philippines). The site and app look nice. You can set up automatic reminder and confirmation emails. Patients can make their own appointments.

On the disappointing side, their logins are so damn awful. There are a variety of screens that appear for logging in, and you have to learn what to do with each one. If you use 2 accounts, I recommend you use 2 different browsers, because you're unlikely to be able to log in to the account you want. You choose one, and it goes to the other. It mixes passwords and usernames.
Account setup is laborious. Everyday use is generally okay. Scrolling through days, weeks or months is often foiled. You just keep scrolling, and it won't go any further. This doesn't happen every time, but often enough.

Pros: Scheduling

Cons: Unable to sell fractons of product. Contracts are cumbersome. It's expensive!

Overall: I've used MB for about 4 years. It's great for Scheduling. Not great for retail. Also, although they have a significant number of non-fitness accounts like mine, they don't seem to listen to us for minor tweaks that could help a lot.

Great Disappointment!!! Be Ware.

Comments: Mind & Body does not stand behind customer satisfaction. I enrolled with credit card payment around Christmas 2016 before my software was set up. I was told that I could call 24/7 for technical support and help setting up my profile. I held for over an hour four different times before I ended up texting my sales rep. stating that I wanted to cancel this membership due to no one answering or being available to set my profile up. I gave this company four different days to answer the phone when they advertised 24/7 assistance before I knew that this company is having problems. I cancelled via text and email within a week never using the software since it was not ever set up and today, February 10th Mind and Body's customer care emailed me refusing to credit my account. This company is DEFINITELY not reliable or cares about satisfying their potential customers. I am not one to write a review; however, I am appalled at the lack of professionalism this company has demonstrated that I hope potential salon owners read before giving their credit card information.

Recommendations to other buyers: Just wants your credit card and then no help!!

Comments: I used this software for about 6-8 months during which not only was it a waste of money but actually caused me more hassle than placing bookings manually. The whole purpose of this software is to save the merchant time in dealing with client bookings, however this software is non user-friendly and actually causes more frustration for both merchant and client. When trying to trouble shoot it is not possible to talk with someone over the phone as this product comes from USA. Also when using this software from a foreign country such as South Africa, we get a terrible exchange rate pricing small businesses out of the picture. I honestly spent more time trouble shooting than actually enjoying the supposed "benefits " . Would never recommended this software.

Recommendations to other buyers: Not appropriate for small businesses. You guys need to consider small businesses not only large corporations.

Comments: I have been trying to cancel my account for 3 days. I have attempted to reach customer service via Live Chat, phone, and via an online form. Each time I wait for 45+ minutes, and when I do reach an agent I get passed off to someone else and stuck in a hold maze again. It should not be this hard to reach customer service, and is yet another reason why I am cancelling my account. The product is not as advertised (ridiculously difficult to use), the customer support is terrible (when I do get an agent they are always very polite but unfortunately these fine customer service reps are in a system that does not allow them to actually provide customer service). The number one thing ANY business needs to have in its customer service department is accessibility. Cancelling my account should be a quick phone call, not 3 days of being on hold. Cancelling because: 1. The product is obnoxiously complicated and impossible to use 2. The training and support are non-responsive to our needs - our business has unique needs that do not fit their "one size fits all" training approach and their trainers have struggled to make that work 3. Customer service is TERRIBLE. Completely inaccessible agents, always the "wrong" department to help, not posting adequate contact information on the website. As mentioned the individual agents (when I do finally get someone) have always been polite and great, but it's clear they are not empowered to help their customers. As an organization they have a LOT you need to fix at the top. SO SO SO DISAPPOINTED.

Recommendations to other buyers: Could be great for a larger organization that has a tech person on staff to manage all the back-end stuff and can do so with minimal support, particularly if that organization has a very "standard" sort of class/business setup. It did not work for us as we have a more unique structure to how we schedule classes. The sales guy assured me it would work for us but once the setup started, it was clear it wasn't the right fit; unfortunately our trainer (when we were actually able to schedule things with her) was not able to offer a solution for us, and seemed stymied when our business model didn't seem to fit with the training she was supposed to deliver -- when we didn't follow the "script" she was at a loss. If your organization is really independent/self-sufficient and has the tech and time wherewithal to not need much customer support, this could probably be really powerful software. I wish we could have had the chance to really see what it could do, but it was not for us -- we are going for something much more intuitive and simple/elegant.

Comments: Sales department promises you the world, you give them payment and that the beginning of a very disappointing experience. I picked mindbody because I've used it as a consumer and it was great however as a merchant was not happy. I've paid for 2 months and the program is not functional and the training is a very brisk 45 min that ends no matter what till 2 or 3 weeks later, non-existent meanwhile you are being billed monthly nonexistent took 3 days to cancel account and by then I'd already been billed for month 3 so I'm stuck and wasted 3 payments for something that was of no use.Tried online chat would wait over 45 min at a time in line only to be disconnected, as my time was closer.Calling on the phone it says there are 59 people ahead of you and the next in line has been waiting 53 minutes.I could not believe my experience with this company.You feel like a small insignificant cog in a huge corporate machine.That is not the image I had of them going in.

Comments: Since I signed up with MBO in 2014, it's been a baffling ordeal. I feel like I'm their Quality Control department. I'm constantly reporting major bugs (I could EASILY spend hours/day if I didn't have anything else to do) and only occasionally getting resolution.

This company spends a fortune on sales and marketing and I have a strong impression that interface design and software engineering are LOW on their corporate priority list.

Recommendations to other buyers: Stay away at all costs.

Comments: Mindbody is a software that's designed to appeal to numerous industry. With that being said, if you have your hand in numerous activities it hard for you to have dominate over one.

The set-up process was long. MindBody is another system that has an over load of information. Feature that you can find come including in other software pricing you have to pay more for.

Online booking could use improving

The individuals behind heir set up process was nice, helpful, and patient.

If you are a small business like myself, I don't think this software would be a good fit for you time and money wise.

Not for beginners.

Comments: We have been using MBO for 6 years and the features continue to be enhanced. It is our go-to application to manage our business. There are some minor glitches with the platform, usually around the POS module but they said they were revamping that soon.

Their customer support is by far, one of the best. All of their employees are well-trained and are very helpful.

Comments: It's too back that MindBody has not put another option for medical providers to aid with EHR's, SOAP notes etc. Seems to be a missing area in all software.

Comments: From the day we were "sold" the software to launching we had nothing but problems! We paid the huge start up fee to have them upload our data for ease of switch only to have them royally screw it up not once but twice. We were delayed over a week and then told we would have to incur the cost of another data change because of their screw up. This cost us huge money in staffing and web changes. We were way oversold on the software and told it could provide more than it actually provided for us as well. We called support way more than we ever should have needed to and would have almost every staff member tell us something completely different about the same issue every time we called. No one there seems to have the same knowledge or training on what they are doing. After a month of "training" in which we learned little to nothing and a week of live software use we cut our losses and ended our contract with the company. After over 20 attempts by email and phone to contact someone about or experience and seek some type of reimbursement, we have had no one contact us back. Each person states that's not their department and transfers us to someone else. We finally got 1 email back and we have since attempted to contact this person 5 times and still nothing. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE EVER!!!

Comments: I was drawn to MindBody because of the Yoga studio where I just started taking classes. The studio uses MB and I find it amazingly easy to sign-up for a class. I inquired about purchasing it for a non-profit business I run and did so blindly - did no comparison shopping, read no reviews. That was really a mistake. I am appalled at how little help there is and how long the wait times are. Even just to cancel my contract with them, I had to work at it for several days -wait time was way too long (hours) and though they have a "call-back" feature, I was on the line when they called back several hours later and so missed my opportunity. When I finally did reach someone to cancel, they announced that there is a 30-day advance notice clause and that it would start from today. When I had insisted I had started the process of canceling five days ago, they said they would look into it and hopefully be able to start the 30-day cancellation period earlier. Numerous times throughout the time I was building my business into their application, I would email and ask to chat or call and ask to be called back. Many of these communications were never returned. Since getting angry and searching for other software applications and reading reviews, I KNOW there are other better solutions out there for me with much better customer service. Unless you've got TONS of time on your hands to put your program together, stay away!

Comments: We have been so disappointed with what could have been an amazing system. They have put up prices without notification, the payment system NetBanx, gives you no visibility as to who has paid what, and took 2 months to set up, including a lot of faffing about! The reporting system is not that great and often has glitches. Finally, the mobile app doesn't allow you to charge in currencies other than US dollars.

Comments: The scheduling is so easy to use and most importantly it is easy on the eyes. You look at the schedule and it makes perfect sense. You aren't having to hover over anything to figure anything out, what you see is what is it.

Comments: If I had a choice, I would not use MindBody. Their Customer Service people are very nice, but it takes at least and hour on hold to reach them, and then I always have to plan another 45 minutes (at least) to talk with them on the phone to fix the problem. Their server doesn't mesh well with any internet we use (firefox, chrome, etc) and they even told us that firefox was the best one! I don't feel I should pay the money that I do for sub-par service.

Comments: I am a client-user of MindBody App, I appreciate the one-stop-shop for all my exercise/yoga needs. MindBody manages all my packages with easy scheduling and canceling classes. The App will populate my iCalendar, and best of all it connects to my Fitbit. I hope future releases of MindBody incorporates "seat-selection" and "performance stats" so businesses like cycle and rowing studios can use MindBody.

Comments: I used MindBody for a year. It did what I needed it to do but it was such a pain to learn. Once they raised the price it wasn't worth it to stay. I found an even better product that allowed to create both individual and class appointments as well as sending text reminders, for half the price. Customer service was always quick to respond, though!

Comments: MB does some things really well, then falls far short on obvious things. We've been using it for 5 years, and my number one complaint is the inability to capture credit cards during the booking process to hold a reservation. We have lost probably thousands of dollars from clients who no-showed, and we had no credit card to bill. MB will tell you that they do have this feature when in reality it's a workaround that is incredibly obnoxious and intrusive to the client (a giant box will pop up saying MISSING BILLING INFO, but it gives the client no idea what this means). Their app also does not require a client to enter a phone number, despite that being a forced field set by us on the back end. I would agree with a previous reviewer who said this software is best for class-based businesses. MB largely ignores the needs of other businesses. Considering they just announced they are raising their monthly fee almost 32% to a whopping amount, we are starting to research other companies. I'm done with MB.

I wouldn't look at this If you are a hair salon, maybe for classes .
Loads of bugs! I was on the phone all the time trying to fix issues that were software related.
The people working at Mindbody are lovely! They have that going for them, but whats the point of having friendly help to fix there issues.
Its very expensive..Nothing is really built in. You pay extra for text messages, You have to use mail chimp or constant contact for mail marketing, it really does all add up...If you want your own app, You pay extra too.

You Have no control of the order stylist appear online, they appear in the order that they joined, so you can't get stylists booked who you wish.
The clients have to put there email address in each time to get a receipt .(bug on App )
You wait like 20-30 min on the phone to get help, Its painful. Its a huge corporate company.
I think If you are doing a yoga class it would be great.
But the salon system really doesn't work well. We also couldn't take debit cards...clients didn't like how difficult it is to book online.
To top it off mindbody charges 600 dollars for your site download.
That is so bad!
I know i will get a great and friendly reply from mindbody after this review. But I just think people should be careful what they choose.
I think Mindbody can handle big salons, multiple locations. I just found it very buggy, and support often not knowing what to do, and never hearing back on an issue.

Comments: I had an extremely negative experience and found that MindBody was very unsympathetic and unable to assist in any way. I turns out that the software was not able to do what i wanted it to and even though i was patient and hopeful, i had no success. The REALLY BAD THING was that i was not given the opportunity to cancel until 1 month and a day after i signed up and was charged for 2 months even though the second month had only started by one day i was not able to get a refund for even the second month. This is very unbecoming for a company that is in this line of work. VERY BAD SERVICE I WOULD TELL ANYONE TO SECOND THINK BEFORE THEY SIGN ON WITH THIS COMPANY.

Recommendations to other buyers: personally i would not recommend this company. The way that they treat their customers is so not in line with the people that they serve.

Comments: I use mind body for two different purposes. I use it it to schedule clients in my private practice, but I am also a fitness instructor and use it for that purpose as well. The great thing about mind body is that it can be used for different purposes and can designed to serve the needs for different companies. It is great to schedule clients as it also syncs to google calendars. It is also great to schedule fitness classes as well.

Comments: I was pitched this software over the ohone and had to try it. I found installation very painless. Tech support was very friendly and helpful not to mention i barely needed any help. The programming is fairly simple and easy to use, even when your not a computer wize. I'd definitely recommend giving it a try. I promise you'll enjoy it!

Comments: Full disclosure - my studio does not use MindBody. That being said, I have been on the customer-end of this software (I've been a client of studios that use MindBody). It seems like most respectable studios in NYC use MindBody. We seriously considered using it, but found some serious limitations. For one, the interface is rather clunky - it really takes some getting used to for customers. It's also quite expensive if you are a small studio. Chances are, you probably end up having to schedule an assistant anyway, who can easily take requests for classes the same that MindBody can. For larger studios, though, I feel like at some point MindBody becomes a necessity so no other software out there quite has its features.

Comments: is that MB is a software for Spas. It's primarily constructed for Yoga and gym type business. Ive bee with them for about a year and have spent tens of thousands, configuring, fixing and attempting work arounds to get things to work. We came to MB with over 40,000 active clients and the transition cost a ton of money. If you have a subscription or autopay type business than it works. But their merchant vendor charges based on manually entered credit card numbers each month. Which charges more even though it's a snapshot run on an autopay. Their Engage app is deficient in that you cannot sell services, gift cards or autopays from it. Gift Cards in small volume is OK but many deficiencies. Basically a great tool for yoga but for a high volume business? Not close. Their support staff is handcuffed and you can tell it's frustrating for them. They make changes and improvements to the system based on how many complaint's they receive. W e are not a yoga studio so the work orders we submit fall on deaf years. We are a 20+ year old healing center. I don't know if we have the strength to change management software again. Great for yoga but NOT designed for spas.

Comments: We're using MindBody in a non-standard use case (music school). On the one hand, it's designed for a different type of business, so there's some friction with our use case. On the other hand, it's flexible enough that we've been able to use it for over five years now, and powerful enough that we haven't yet found an alternative that wouldn't rob us of some of the MindBody features that we rely on.

As far as the support, they've been communicative when I've needed help. They respond in a timely manner if you need help in a specific case. However, their support forum is full of bug fixes and basic feature requests that have gone unresolved for years. If you need help, they're there for you, but if you need a fix you're out of luck.

Comments: Mindbody have good software.
I definitely noticed a jump on my attendance numbers having implemented booking software.
Support is pretty good, though suggestions never happen.
I found that, due to Mindbody's broad client business types (fitness, spa, salon, yoga, etc.) that the software can do what you need it to, but doesn't really specialize in any one thing.
You can search around and find something that's a better fit, for cheaper.
That being said, it is a good product.

Comments: Mindbody is good, and I used it for 6 years, but, only because it was a HUGE PAIN to switch to a different billing system. They charge more and more all the time, and they didn't have A LOT of features. And if you did want those features, such as work out tracking, they charged EXTRA for it!! I am super technical, and it was so confusing. I had to call support almost everytime to figure out people's accounts. I also lost all sorts of money because there is no system in place when people don't pay. So, people were using my gym for months and months with out getting billed, and I didn't know it.

Recommendations to other buyers: Do your research before choosing any billing software, because once you choose one, it is a huge pain to switch it out.

Comments: When you sign up you'll be promised the moon and stars. Then you'll get 1-2 support calls per week and you'll see many of those claims retracted. If your support guy is good (I had one good call) this is enough to get you up and running. Unfortunately mine was not. It was "click here, type this, go back to this screen and click here" and then at exactly 45 minutes our call is ended until the next one. No explanation of the system just blind instructions. This went on for 2 months! At some point he was telling me "You're ready to go" when in fact all I'd been doing was following his instructions and still didn't get any explanation on how to use it with clients. The final straw was when I couldn't get the app working on an android device and then told they don't support all android devices (sales rep promised 'it will run on any android device'). In maddening frustration by that point, I left and asked for a refund but was told "we have a no refund policy". I later realised by myself that a different app is used for business (nobody in support pointed this out when I brought up the compatibility issue). I'd already bought all the hardware and cards for the barcode scanning function so tried to clear the air and take a share of blame, then suggested if someone on their end can just explain how to use that feature I'd continue with mindbody. They ignored that and are completely ignoring all of my emails now (even though I'm still in the middle of a paid month). Do not go near these guys, they will take your money and drop you if you are too much work. There is no trial period and their legally dubious 'no refund policy' means you will never get your money back if something goes wrong. You will feel like a tiny cog to a big company and if you don't like how the system works, tough!

To review the software itself, it has lots of features but you'll only need a fraction of them. The reason is that they try to cover such a wide range of businesses - from gyms to hair dressers. So the backend has a ton of menus and unfamiliar terminologies, and a significant learning curve to get up and running. This would be manageable, but see my review above regarding support. If you want to drive desk staff mad, and make them harder to train and replace, then this is a good way to do it.

I would recommend you shop around for a better alternative to this. Mindbody is a bit of a jack of all trades, master of none. Goteamup or Glofox were much better alternatives I evaluated

Recommendations to other buyers: If you get a good support guy you might be ok, but there doesn't seem to be any standard. Either way, don't expect to be much. Don't fall for any of the sales pitches, including the "24/7 support" nonsense - It's very much a conveyor belt system and you will have a set number of exactly 45 minute long calls. They want to train you and forget about you and if that takes too long, they'll just ignore you (look at other reviews you'll see the same). In the end I went with goteamup which wasn't nearly as feature rich but did what I needed and actually did some basic things mindbody couldn't (eg. online health screening forms). Glofox was another promising alternative, but it only accepted stripe so I didn't go with in the end. Most smaller companies will work with you and actually entertain (reasonable) feature requests or feedback. Mindbody will not. They'll pay lip service but nothing will change, it's a very rigid system. One would wonder why we need to pay monthly fee's in that case since it could be a one time buy piece of software. What you SHOULD be paying for is support, and mindbody falls way short of any other competitor I've evaluated.

Comments: I am the manager of a small yoga studio in my city. The owner made the decision to go with MindBody because it was what all the other fitness studios were using, much to my hesitation and presentation of another alternative. I'm also a graphic designer, so I did quite a bit of research while we were trying to figure out what sort of software to use for our client base and checking them in/out of our studio, as well as booking memberships and packages. From a user interface standpoint, MindBody could seriously stand to get a complete makeover to catch-up with the web-friendly formats that are very popular (and almost standard now) with other softwares. MindBody is built with the Java platform, and our studio CONSTANTLY has issues with the software freezing up, stalling out, blanking out, not printing receipts, not processing payments, and several other features that just seem to never quite live up to what they promise. With this software, you almost have to "hand-hold" it. It requires you to go through the largest range of steps to accomplish the simplest of tasks. Most softwares these days are programmed to "think ahead" of you to maximize efficiency, but I'm disappointed to report that MindBody does not do this. The user interface changes nearly everytime with the click of any button (while most web-based softwares offer some sort of consistency in navigation), and MindBody does not do this either. I appreciate the extent of features that MindBody tries to offer in this software, but it feels like in order to get from point A to point B, you have to make dozens of unnecessary steps, detours, and exceptions to finally get there. Also, the price point is simply the foundation of other charges that are piled on top of the software (embed-ability fees for your website, additional credit card processing fees, and other fees you must pay if you promote through their app). If I were recommending a software to another small yoga studio, I would greatly encourage them to look elsewhere. They will find a better, more digestible software at a better price point by going with Tula or another option that is better built to function with technology and the web progression at this day and age. Hopefully MindBody will one day catch up!

Comments: Mostly a superior program. Reporting is solid, attendance tracking and the usual payments and processing and online registering all good. Some simple things like returns or refunds don't seem simple enough. Customer service can take 30 minutes to 2 hours to get back to you. I understand it's a large company now, but business owners need accessibility and answers.

Pricing is somewhat high. But admittedly in line with what they offer. I don't use upgrades like Accelerate or Heal Code but those will cost as well. If they'd improve customer service times and pricing, I'd give it 4 to 5 stars across the board. I'm mostly satisfied at this time

Recommendations to other buyers: If your'e a small studio research other companies, if you are medium to larger studio then MB should be in your group of considerations. And works for many, many studios across the Country.

Bottom line: This software does not do what it offers.
More importantly, shady billing practices seriously impact their credibility. I was mistakenly billed for 3 months, and then flat out told that they would not correct the billing because I cancelled.
Luckily this was all during recorded conversations and written messages, so I was able to contact my credit card and receive credit for the funds spent. But the hoops they make you jump through make it not worth it. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR MINDBODY. THEY WILL SCREW YOU OVER.

Other complaints:
-I spent over 60 horus over teh space of about 6 months trying to get it set up. Ultimately was not able to get it to work the way that I wanted.

-The salesman offered a great offer when I started up. It was not honored.
-Later when I express frustration an account retention specialist made a better offer.
Though I offered written proof of the offers I was given by their personnell, they did not honor them.

The only saving grace is there customer service representatives, who are quick to empathize, apologize... and then continue to not deliver.
(I wouldn't be surprised if this company had a high turnover. You can hear it in the CSR's voice- they are disappointed as well.)

Dont sign up for Mindbody.

Comments: I use my Samsung 6 for card processing. The Mindbody swiper worked for about 6 months and then Mindbody stopped supporting the Samsung 6 which is a popular phone. After numerous phone calls and emails I have been waiting 8 months for a fix and none is in sight. Mindbody has refused to lower my rate despite having to manually enter every credit card sale. Very embarrassing in front of clients to have to keep explaining why I have such archaic technology.

Comments: Own a hair salon? This might be important to you too: I've been using MindBody for nearly 2 years at my salon for its online booking. I have nothing bad to say about how the online booking functions on MY end... meaning that when I log in and manage my appointments, it's pretty easy for me. It's actually REALLY easy for me and I love the way MindBody allows me to manage my appointments. So I do recommend it for this very important reason.

HOWEVER, what I don't love about this service is that, according to my website designers SetMySite (these guys are incredible btw), there's no "customizable embed code"... in business owner terms that means, when the client wants to book their appointment through the website, they click on a link on the website that takes them OUT of your website and ON TO MindBody's website. There are other salon booking applications that allow you to create a custom look and feel to the appointment booking application and "embed" it onto your website, so that your clients can actually book ON your website. MindBody offers no such feature. So why does this ruin the experience so much?

1) It looks unprofessional! We consider ourselves a very high-end salon. Sending our client to another website that doesn't match the same look and feel of our website looks amateur and unpolished. Especially since our website uses dark colors, and MindBody's is all white - it's a very ugly contrast.

2) It's not very user friendly for the client. Originally I wanted a "book now" button under each service offering on my website and I wanted to have that button automatically take the client down the path to book that specific service once they clicked on it (obviously). But I guess that wasn't so obvious for the MindBody peeps as when someone clicks on the "book now" button on my website, it just takes them to a general page where the client has to fish around for the service they JUST TRIED to book on my site and re-add it so they can book! SMH.

3) When the client is taken to the MindBody booking page, they aren't greeted with a list of services to choose from. They are greeted the the need to "sign in" to an account. How could a first time client already have an account? MindBody should know that many many clients that book online are actually first time clients! Why not make it as easy as possible for them to book online? I feel like MindBody makes it as HARD as possible for them to book the service they want through the website itself.

Recommendations to other buyers: The MindBody app is really nice and a handful of my clients use it for booking their appointments which is pretty cool. I had SetMySite add a button to my website so clients could download the app to their phones and book their appointments that way. The app is cleaner and easier to use.

The 24/7 support doesn't seem to work in Australia. Deals that are "try this for the next 3 months for free" then roll into a charge that seems like you can never cancel it, despite being told it would happen. Emails don't get responded to. Can't NOT recommend them enough.

Comments: Minbody embodies everything I dislike about the fitness industry. Aggressive sales, they have all the time in the world for you until you are a paying customer then their support is terrible, their staff is not very knowledgeable or helpful, everything about the brand is money driven not health driven, and of course when I went to cancel they force me to pay for an extra month when I don't need or want it to continue billing clients. The software itself is not user friendly or intuitive, the interface is ugly, and I actually spent more time on my scheduling and billing while using MB for the last 6 months.

Recommendations to other buyers: Pay a bit more for a product that is working hard to help you, rather than being busy on boarding thousands of new clients and putting on conferences with Jillian Michaels.

Comments: Been using MB since 2012. It's difficult to setup, but wasn't bad afterwards. They keep adding features I don't need, while ignoring many features myself, and other customers, keep requesting in their support forums. After 4 years of know about chip enabled credit cards, they still don't have a solution to process the chip cards. Many features are not that great for our needs. We have 12 therapists at our massage & day spa. I've started looking for other solutions. No integration with Quickbooks Online. Overall, the software is not that user friendly for the business owner. Just doesn't make my life easier for the $126/month I'm paying.

Recommendations to other buyers: Look elsewhere for a better solution.

Comments: I was using many booking systems. This is the worst one.
Back office: Too complicated to use; Horrible check-out; Difficult to use smartphone application. And now when I want to close the account, I have to jump through hoops to get all my clients information out of the system. Instead of just simple export, I have to run up to 10 reports, export them into different files and merge them somehow by hands.

Comments: As a brand owner, I post compliments more than negative posts. As you can tell by my yelp posts. I always give a company a chance to handle issues, resolve and satisfy me. As I do in my companies, knowing a consumer is unhappy and correcting the challenges is tops on my list.

MindBody was recommended to me by a industry friend. We spent numerous hours of setting up the program, as I had been on my previous operating system over 12 years. This took hours an hours of man time, labor work, calls etc. Sadly, the very first set up instructions were completely incorrect, not knowing this we launched. A TOTAL DISASTER AND ALMOST SHUT DOWN THE COMPANY! After as they said having the most work tickets in the que that had ever seen, and 4 total conversions, that crashed our company each time, loosing service providers complete history and even not visually seen. Another 70 hours later on the phone, and they want to charge us to cancel after admitting they had botched the complete set up, and 4 conversions. Told us we were too large of a company with 50 service providers. Now, wouldn't this had been great on the front end.

Sadly, I have had to get my attorney, more fees, to handle this disaster just to stop fees that they said would not occur. Yet, now the person that said this, as we doc'ed every person and time, has completely memory loss.

I would not trust this system....We are so thankful our old program was still with us, and we spend 7 days recreating all the horrible 7 days on Mind Body, and still are having issues with guests showing up not in the system, due to their sad outdated programs.

Comments: I've been with mindbody since 2012. Once I made the switch, my revenue went up. How? Complete organization of my school (Jiu-Jitsu and Strength Academy), schedule, clients, billing, waivers, etc.
All the information I ever needed was available for me.

At first their interface is a little overwhelming and you have to poke around a bit to find what you're looking for - but once you get it all setup, it's very powerful.

Their mobile app is really good. 4.5 stars there. It's such a huge benefit to be able to have someone walk in, sign a waiver (on app on our tablet), pay for a class, buy a t-shirt, whatever. I can make the sale "now". Very powerful.

My only suggestion would be to clean up their e-commerce interface. It's a little clunky.

Also, have the ability to start a membership or reoccurring payment from the mobile app.

Those 2 things are why I can't give it a 5.

Comments: I've worked with Mindbody for almost two years at the hair salon I manage, and am actually on Capterra to find another scheduling software but felt compelled to discuss my own experiences with this software first. I generally have found this software to be somewhat user-friendly, and then in certain areas inexplicably not user-friendly at all (my personal opinion is that some of this is intentional, as they host "Mindbody University" in various cities a few times a year for a pretty penny. Personally I don't find it particularly wise to capitalize on how overly complex your software is, especially considering that it's not super cost-effective to begin with). I've found their customer service to generally be lackluster and nearly as confused as me at best, borderline rude at worst. Multiple times I've contacted them and have been told they'll get back to me about an issue, and I either never hear back from them or end up solving the problem myself before hearing anything from them. As I read through reviews on here, I found that clearly many other salons are having the same issues we've had so I won't reiterate them here, but I would like to point out that this should be a cautionary tale for any other salon looking for scheduling software. I would HIGHLY recommend looking elsewhere. The idea of having to transfer to a new software this far down the line is daunting, but at this point it would be worth it to avoid the many headaches Mindbody has caused me.

Comments: I was a pro customer for almost 3 years, and after the fees continued to jump up with no added value (for what I use it for) I started looking closer at what I was actually paying for and see why it was costing so much. In an effort not to go through the hassle of migrating my data to another platform I decided to downgrade my subscription. After calling and being assured the few reports I used would still be available, I downgraded my subscription level to Grow from Pro and the very next day when the changes took effect, I realized the ONE report I use daily is gone! I have two merchant accounts with them and the monthly subscription and they want me to pay an EXTRA $50 just to run a daily close-out report?! That's crazy! That was THEE last straw, I will gladly go through a painful migration process to rid myself of this complex system.

For the past 3 years, I've had to call customer support to make small changes because like another posted mentioned, this system is more-so for gyms and not very user friendly. In fairness, MindBody, has a lot of features, but when I don't use over 60% of the features because I'm not a gym, $95/month is ridiculous. My few suggestions to MindBody:

1. Stay in your lane and don't court hair salons when you system is for gyms
2. Train your sales staff to know which subscriptions come with what so they don't misinform customers

Comments: We've been using Mindbody since 2012, and it started out strong. As a hair salon, we quickly realized that the program was made more for yoga studios and gyms, so many of our needs weren't addressed. Customer service is terrible for being so expensive!! Very unresponsive to issues. Their server seems to crash at least once a week. I wish I had done more research before choosing this program.

The opportunities Mindbody provides is big. There are a lot of utilities that make your day to day work a lot easier, process faster and more automated.
In general very easy to use/integrate for us as well as for our clients.

Cons:
For quite a lot of services you need to upgrade your package. We pay for a premium service because we feel that the regular Helpdesk doesn't always deliver what we need as a user.
It shows that Mindbody is very much US oriented, which is a con for us as a European user.

Comments: Signed up to try mind body because they said I would get so many new customers. Got none, then they wanted to charge me double to add my 2nd location. I tried to call at the 30 day mark to cancel, but they charged my card already arty the 29.5 day mark so it was too late. Then they say they need to charge you for the following month because they need a 30 day warning to cancel. I didn't get any use of it. Hated it!

Do not be sold by their bells and whistles, this system, and its staff is a NIGHTMARE!!

After talking with a MB customer service member, I still was not sure if I wanted to sign up to this product. There were so many costs associated with this system and so I was concerned about the extra expense. The customer service agent I spoke with said I could sign up, and if I was still not sure get a refund within 30 days.

I decided to get the refund, I didn't like that the system sent my clients away from my website to make the final booking. It was a system that took way too long to sort out and learn and I didn't have the time to deal with it.

I sent the agent an email stating I wanted a refund (this was on day 25 of my money back period). On day 31 (6 days later) he wrote back and said I needed to email someone else to get the refund. I replied thank you and said that I would contact them.

I resent the refund email only to be told that I was not eligible. After countless back and forth emails with this new person, I was finally told that I did not email in time to receive the refund. I said that I had indeed stated I wanted a refund before the 30 days. Their reply was that I had not emailed the right department and so I was unable to get the refund. (This is the short version of the story, this dragged on for ages)

BE SO CAREFUL with this company, read the TandC's because these people will happily take your money. Make sure you read it to the end, because the staff will not help you in anyway, as I unfortunately found out the hard way. Yes I should have read the terms, but I know this customer service agent received my email straight away, and how convenient that he should tell me the right way to get the refund, 1 day after the money back period ended. I have to Q the success of what appears to be a large successful business that argues over $600. Their sales people are pushy and horrendous to deal with.

There are better systems out there - I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend GET TIMELY, it has saved my life. (www.gettimely.com)

They also made a huge mistake and charged my bank account over $800 and if I hadn't caught it, they would've pocketed $800. And when the customer rep says they'll call you the next day, they never do.

Comments: For the most part, the software was easy to use (which means a lot, considering how NOT good with computers I am!). It would be great to be able to do more while on-the-go, like change instructor for class on schedule. When a client late cancels or no shows, an auto charge option would be great. As well, on the express app a client can't be marked as a no show (as far as emailing them), only late cancel.
The support staff was always more than helpful. Whether I communicated via email or phone, every single person I dealt with was incredible! Thank you for such a great experience!

Comments: We adopted this software for our indoor recreation business because it had member check-ins and was reasonably priced. But, there are basic (critical) features missing like system based cash drops and no integration with Quickbooks Online. Auto print is worthless and they still rely on outdated technology that all browsers are phasing out (Javascript). Support people are friendly, but nothing ever changes. What happened to all of the money investor infused in the company? The only new things we're seeing is more marketing crap. Oh yeah, they still have no solution for the new credit card chip standard! Look elsewhere.

Comments: It's a little tricky to figure out the inner workings and how to setup some of the more advanced features. With updates and layout changes from MindBody it makes it a little more complicated because I got used to it one way and now it's new so I have to start over. The customer support is incredible at helping me navigate those changes and complete the task I want. They will stay on the phone, while I'm working, waiting for me to complete it so they know I was able to do it and answered any questions along the way so I'm confident I can do it again.

Comments: We have worked with MINDBODY for almost 3 years as a growing franchise in the Cryotherapy business. During that time we have seen a lot of change, both within the software and also within our business. MINDBODY was the tool to help us when we only had 1 location and we continue to use it through our growth well into our 5-6-7th locations and beyond. Having 24 hour tech support has helped us as there is always someone I can get onto about any questions, be that phone, email or live chat messenger. Also, we have taken advantage of the refresher trainings to continually improve our reporting capabilities and continue our deeper use of MINDBODY.

Cons: I've had for over 8 years. Horrible. It gets slower, has more bugs, doesn't accept some payments, crashes, tells me I need to log in again, buttons don't work, home screen is private info in front of everyone, customer service is hit or miss. I could go on and on. I try to log people in after their sessions and can't. It throws me back to the home screen or just crashes. I try to accept payments and can't. I try to search and client to tell them their balance and can't. Certain times of the day it works better than others. If you use the customer service email you'll never hear back (I've emailed three times in the last month and not one response other than the immediate automated one). When I do get them on the line, one told me to try "googling my tech problem and I may find a solution", a few told me they'd never heard of my issues, but when I went to a forum on FB EVERYONE was having the same issues.
I'm not sure why this page says $45/month because I pay way more than that for unusable software.
When I hire someone new they simply can not figure it out and I spend way more time resolving problems.
If they continue to run they way they are now they will be closed in a year. It's that bad. When your software doesn't run during the day and your paying clients can't use it, you're in trouble.
Got too big for their britches with a bad platform? Not sure but it's horrid.
This is the first review I've ever given anyone. That's how bad it is.

Comments: I have been with them for three years. Startup was not easy but they have also apparently made a lot of system changes since my set up that have effected my company negatively and they did not inform me. Then, when I ask about it they tell me that is how it was set up. No, it was set up and then changes were made but my company wasn't taken into account.

There is now an analytics screen that comes up automatically upon login. Whom ever is with you as you login can see the performance of your company for the last three months. There used to be a schedule screen and we are all asking for that back while they make their decisions of what to do but they are not listening. They are commenting on the forums where us clients are complaining over, and over, and over, again but they are not doing anything about it. There are work-arounds, yes, but why not give us back the old screen?

Customer service is atrocious. Once you get a tech you are probably ok but I have been on hold for over an hour several times. The online chat is the same thing and if you email you will wait over a week to get a reply.

I don't give negative feed back on companies, ever. This is truly not my norm, but I am angry that I now have to search out another company to take care of my schedule and POS, so I thought I would share with you so you don't have the same frustrations.

Oh, by the way, I am a micro-enterprise, it is just me. Imagine if you had employees to deal with on this system!

They charge one month in advance to teach you how to "set it up" and then if you want to cancel there is a 30 days notice period which they charge.

The one free training session given in the beginning is not enough. I see the potential, but too much leg work for me. Set it up for me, and I might stay. Unless your running a high volume operation Clients/money , this is not for you. Their are easier cheaper alternatives.

Comments: We moved to them over one year ago. From the start it became apparent they were not responding to customers needs. They have an open forum so you can see what the issues are, what clients are continually asking for and that pretty much get ignored after years of multiple requests. Most recently the company has changed their home screen, now it shows how many clients you have acquired and how much sales have been.

This screen is the first thing employees and customers see. There has been an avalanche of complaints to change this. Three weeks later no change and MB is once again ignoring
us. But this page is also a promotion for their app and also to create deals which they make money off of.

This is the typical way MB makes poorly thought out changes and fixes are nonexistent or dragged out. The main impression I get is that MB's main goal is to build their brand name over the best interests of their clients.

Despite paying a premium monthly fee, they don't include any mobile solutions. We had to shell out another $25 month to Healcode to get widgets to make it mobile friendly. Plus MB has a weird procedure for setting appts that tricks many clients into thinking there is an error. Told them about this but they don't see it as a problem.

Next, cancellation notices are not going out to us, so when a client cancels we don't know about it. They are aware of this and have no plan on fixing it, it's been months already.

Want to schedule recurring breaks? You can but you can't change one without deleting them all. Again poorly thought out and no fix for years, despite repeated requests.

Overall MB has not been responsive to client needs and pushes ahead with it's own agenda, not bothering to fix the things they messed up with the old "improvements". Support staff are helpful, but better to not need them so much. CEO says changes are coming, I would wait and what and how they are implemented, so far everything they do benefits MB first, clients second. And the gap between the two can be pretty large at times, especially if it makes MB money and hurts your business. I should advise prospective users to ask around with other MB clients, I have not found anyone who really likes it.

MB was a waste of time and money switching over and now we have to go through the pain of it again. Buyer beware. Sorry I could go on but no more space.

Comments: I've been using MINDBODY software now about 10 months. It is a nice program with interactive apps, that when purchasing, the sales people will remind you how great they are for your business. "MINDBODY Connect, It's a free app for your students to download and they can connect to your studio!"

1. Beware of complaining about Mindbody Connect.

When I reported challenges, I was told ..."well, it's a free app"...Really, then why was it pumped up so much in the Sales Pitch?

2. Tech support is hit or miss with MB employees who are awesome or awful.

I had a time where I had to call weekly to report the system not operating properly and on the receiving end were the snarkiest most miserable tech support people Other times, I've had great people, which makes an uncomfortable conversation much more palatable.

NOTE: It seems that quite frequently every other APP in the world releases updates, i don't see MB updates often. I run all the MB on Apple (Macbook, iPad, etc) I'm not certain if this itself is an issue.

3. Consumer mode vs BUSINESS OWNER mode.

I might suggest taking a peek at yourself via the Mindbody Connect app. It let's you see yourself in the eyes of a consumer. (Don't log in with your business ID)

Interesting that when you find things that make you go (( hmmm??))... Now go to your Business desktop. You can't seem to find these items via reports on your dashboard, like ALL ratings and reviews. Hmmm? Can the software design guys pare the results so it only shows perfection? Perhaps they should advise all Business Consumers to put on their rose colored glasses before using the desktop full version? ((Hmmmm?))

4. It's a LOT of $$$

If you are new business, it's an additional large expense so you may want to consider a simpler less fancy alternative. But, If you've got the where with all to get up to speed (which in reality I don't think I'll ever be completely up to speed with this) and you think the end reaching opportunities of what this does (and can do with the super fancy and higher $$$$$ upgrades) is for you...then go for it.

My last suggestion and most important suggestion... Memorize your client ID and the Customer Support phone number.

Comments: Excellent inventory management, point of sale and online booking...I really don't want to give up the features of MindBody but i am very sad to say that after 8 years we may have to change software because we need medical billing integrated into our day to day point of sale and appointment software. We have been doing double entry for too long and with too much room for human error. I know you have a lot of other clients wanting the same thing. There are softwares available for you to integrate with on your API like Practice Fusion and Advanced MD but I can't get anyone to help me with that.

Comments: I've been using this product for almost 6 years. Having a computer software background, this application is great! Fantastic customer service and upgrades and features have been added a lot throughout the years. I've experienced a few bugs here and there however workarounds were always provided. UE is great for my staff which are mostly yoginis. The experience is very user friendly and clear. I appreciate the visuals like big "OWE" in the class roster which helps my staff quickly see. Keep doing what you're doing!

Comments: I have been a subscriber of Mindbody since our yoga studio opened in 2014. Over the course of our first year of business, I can say with complete certainty that the capabilities for coordinating scheduling, staffing, sales, and payroll have been worth their weight in gold in terms of time savings and accountability.

The Mindbody system itself is intuitive, easy to use, and I have been seriously impressed with the knowledge and responsiveness of MB support staff. Customer service provides thoughtful solutions, complete instructions, and have always been cheeful and helpful in my experience.

There have been a few hiccups in "seamless integration" between Healcode and Fitness Mobile Apps, but the fact that I can make necessary changes in Mindbody that can then be broadcast on the web schedule, via app push notification, and across social media nearly simultaneously is AMAZING.

As a small studio (generally ~100 customers per week), the month-to-month cost of doing business using Mindbody and its integrated partners is a fairly large percentage of our monthly income - however, the time the software saves me as the owner, and the independence it gives our clients in scheduling, booking, visit history, and payment can't really be measured in dollars. It pays for itself.

All things considered, I would rate the product as 4.75 stars for ease of use, responsiveness, integration capabilities, and customer service. I have had some trouble with the self-service features, and at some point things were diversified with so many different names that I barely know what product I have in comparison to the others (Express, Accelerate, PRO, University, etc). The features have evolved over our year of use, and while changes can be unexpected, I appreciate the effort to keep up with client demands.

Left Mindbody and went with Tula in 2013.

Comments: Mindbody was nothing more than a nightmare for me. Always having to call them to clear something up that wasn't right. For a Yoga studio I didn't need all the bells they were offering and too complicated..Started searching for another Software program that fit my needs..Tula was there..and are still with me every step of the way. They offer clear simply solutions for a Yoga studio and they are constantly looking at ways to help us grown as studio owners. They want us to grow as business owners along with them. They think like Yogi's and have a business in the Yoga Studio industry..Hands down the best in their field. Compassionate caring group of people. Moving over was a breeze. Took minutes...not days.

Comments: We used to love Mindbody. We went to Mindbody University to learn how to better deal with enrollment and retention at our studio. They recommended putting everyone on Memberships and create an awesome INTRO deal! We did that. December 16, they rolled out their new app. They opted everyone in to text messaging, started texting our students inviting them to download this app for ease of scheduling. Now the first thing our students see are INTRO offers of every studio around us. On top of that MB started charging 10% of every intro offer purchased through their app. Methinks there is a conflict of interest brewing here.

Comments: I work as a product manager for a larger IT company, so when a client came to us that she needed help managing her dance studio but didn't have sufficient founds to develop something tailored for her, we offered consultancy hours that we would do the research and setup and find her a great service provider. I initially started with Zenplanner (sorry for mentioning your concurents Mindbody but they are more sincere), the only problem with Zenplanner was that it was more expensive than Mindbody so after browsing the web i found MindBody. It seemed professional and a tool that might help my client. We scheduled also a meeting with one of their sales representatives, it was great! He promissed the world that it is easy to set up ad does exactly what we need . I eaven showed the pricing model of the studio upfront and he sayed it would be no problem. Well... their trick is that they dont let you test the software like other providers, they only make you a tour via a skype call... so you dont know how it will look like and work like when you get there. So when he promissed that we can do everything and setup would be soooo easy... we got hoocked. Now that we are their clients, the support team is really great and helpfull... but the software does nothing as promissed, at least not the easy way... and you will read in other reviews also about their famous "workarounds" but not eaven those do a great job at what we clearly stated from the beginning that we would need. I repeat do not fall for the "Fals MindBody Prophets" that promisse you to bring you to the promised land! We are getting close to Christmas holydays now right? Everybody cant wait to go on holidays and get peace in mind, soul and heart now im afraid of how to show our client what Mindbody realy does, what are the compromisses, im not eaven capable of setting it up on my own. I would pay someone to set it up for me just that i can know that i can go in my holidays and not suffer at work becouse i recommended such a bad product. I was so naive. Wish i could see the salesperson set up exacly what he promissed mindbody would do . Wis i could find anyone set up what they promissed they would be able to provide. Probably if you sue them they will be able to protect themselves with the famous "WORKAROUNDS" but let me know even those are lies. terribly disgusted by Mindbody and their lies. Thank You MindBody for ruining my day...week...holiday...and piece of mind.

Comments: We have been using Mindbody exclusively for 3+ years and have really had mixed experiences with it. On the on hand the customer service team is very helpful and available and the software for the longest time seemed to be getting better and better, however it is definitely not designed for a hair salon and requires extensive "work arounds" to navigate the set-up (which would be likely more optimal for a gym or yoga studio). These issues are not on Mindbody's list of priorities and have been dormant for several years, creating a frustrating situation where their customer service team is oft repeating the line "we do not have this on our radar but thanks for bringing it up.
So, the online booking is mostly excellent, glitches only occasionally (ie. double books people when there is no actual availability), but the auto-emails are great and seem to work perfectly. The big issues are with inventory management, pricing schemes and client management - which are all clunky, slow and incredibly hard and time consuming to edit once inputted (eg. they must be done manually, navigating through several screens to change EACH item, so if you need to change something simple like size, colour, price, commission etc on a list of items you will need several hours). Also there is no way to print a daily visual schedule (appointment book) nor to schedule biweekly or monthly schedules or any recurring schedule that is not weekly, nor to schedule in assistants (who do not offer services) or show the presence of support staff on your main appointment screen.

Steady price increases (two in the last 6 months). Frequent system changes are time consuming.

Comments: Pros: Available on pc, tablet and phone. Convenient for the clients that use it. All in one - schedule, payments, retail, credit cards and cash, payroll, and financial stats.

Cons: Began with MindBody in August 2012 - promised to be up and running in 2 weeks, but it took 2 months because we had to wait in the queue for tech availability. The techs are frequently changing the system which requires time away from task at hand to learn the changes. Some features I liked and used disappear or I just can't find them again in the different menus. Many of the improvements do not benefit my business. Five price increases for same product with the 5th this January 2016. I'm actively looking to replace MB with a less expensive, less complicated system that is budget friendly.

Not worth the price for my current needs.

Comments: At first it was a great deal for the software, then about a year later I received a notice about a new pricing (seems like it's just a sneaky sales tactic to increase the fees).
I only needed the merchant account and a way to keep track of delinquent accounts.
Setting up contracts became a mess and I couldn't tell which ones were in use and which were duplicates (had an issue in the beginning).
Using the software was easy to charge clients for products and contracts was easy, but issuing refunds was extremely difficult .
Customer service is great, but like I said overall it's extremely overpriced for the services I need.

Comments: Love the software and ease of use, plus their customer service staff are exemplary.

I am very angry, though, at their recent decision to charge their original 'legacy' customers a fee equal to more than double what we already pay to keep the same functionality. I have suggested that they look at offering the 'missing bits' to their legacy customers through tiered pricing (i.e. additional cost to keep auto emails, for example).

Their decision to force their original investors, who want additional functionality of SOAP notes, to lose important client functions vs. pay over twice as much is ludicrous.

I am looking elsewhere though I hope MBO fixes this issue.

Comments: MindBody has made it so much easier to stay on track with my record keeping. I'm no longer stressed, I'm keeping up on my monthly numbers. I'm even on top of my email marketing. MindBody has simplified my classes schedule making it easier to promote and publish my schedule both on my website and via email. I've also noticed increased traffic to my site. Prospective members are so much better informed about my business since beginning with MindBody. I am the sole owner and trainer wearing many hats at any studio, KimFIT. I feel more confident as I interact with current and prospective clients. Having all of this work handled with such ease has freed me up to be more creative and innovative with my training, doing what I love.

Comments: We've been using MindBody for nearly two years. Overall it's a pretty good program, if overly complicated in some ways. Technical support has seriously degraded during 2015; no response to repeated requests for more than a week at times.

* Most egregious: critical functionality removed simultaneous to significant price increase in 2015 in an effort to push us into "upgrading" our subscription (to get back that same functionality for an even higher price). Among the functionality that was removed: notifications of time or classes running out on class packages and pricing options. This is basic functionality, NOT a premium feature. This approach to business and customer relations is despicable, and reason enough to shop for an alternative.

Dismal experience. I worked for months to create a webpage and set up my MindBody account.

Comments: I signed up in January 2015 after being reassured by both the sales rep and the tech that this software would fit my needs. I have a massage therapy, yoga, Pilates and personal training business so I need to be able to sign clients up for both classes and one on one appointments. I should have suspected something when I was required to change my whole pricing structure to fit my square peg into their round hole. If I had a nickel for every time I hear one of their people use the word "workaround" I would be a very rich woman. I clearly stated exactly what I was looking for. They were interested in taking my money and offering me a bunch of excuses, not offering me solutions to my problems.

Not a single month went by where their accounting system matched my record keeping I was doing twice the amount of work by having to double check their numbers. The liability waivers, my policies, and welcome forms I spent hours creating and uploading were never shown to my clients. I missed appointments when clients booked online but I was not notified. I had double bookings because the tech intentionally set up my program to allow multiple clients to overlap, even though I had explained that there was one of me and one massage room. Each month was a new disaster surprise. Every time I called in for help the phone call lasted a minimum of one hour (sometimes two hours) and often the problem was still not resolved.
The set up alone took over six months with me calling in once a week for an hour of this nonsense. The software is not user friendly. Once it was set up it was difficult for me to use and difficult to find what I was looking for. Every time I called I would get a different person and had to re explain who I was, what we were working on and what had been done so far.

Comments: The customer service is awesome and the product has all the features I need to run my business. The ui is outdated though it is improving and becoming more modern and easier to use. I do however have to call in allot because the program is so deep it is hard to figure out or remember how things work. The more training material to produce and put on youtube the better. Also the fact that I can not integrate into my website with out a third party is not so great and If the api had the same level of support as the product I would create my own web experience.

Comments: We are not the typical MB client, so sometimes we have to figure out work-arounds and learn how to "make do." BUT... since workshop and appointment scheduling is our primary need, we have found that it's worth having to do the work-arounds for our retail side.
In addition, MB is always tweaking the program to make it better -- and I love that!

I can't say enough good stuff about Tech Support -- and just want to give a shout out to Trish Powell because she is truly "da bomb"! She knows MOST of the answers and can get me answers to any question I have -- and I don't have to wait months for the answer! When the software simply can't do what I need, she's helpful at figuring out what work-arounds will actually work.

Comments: This software leaves alot to be desired. I hava MBA in Management Information Systems. I practically never write reviews but I am so fed up with the issues and lack of integration with a normal workflow setup just to book a client appointment.
It does not allow you to block out a range of time on the schedule. Your only option is a 'business closed' configuration item for the entire day.
You have to manually enter in every single compensation rate for your staff for each item and service provided.
You have to update each staff everytime you add a new service. Any change requires several updates.
It doesn't allow you have multiple sessions treatments without a range for the pricing for that service. This is not client friendly as clients want to know that for a 3 session Microdermabrasion treatment, what is the fixed price, not a range of pricing.
If your business closes at 7pm, appointments cannot be booked at 7pm by the client unless you extend your business hours.
They do not fix any issues for you, it is against company policy so the client can never say that they did something wrong. What a ridiculous response. They make you do all of the configuration and they cannot solve an issue.
You have to manually enter in every service and price unless you pay additional money for another vendor to do an upload for you.
The prices do not show automatically for each service online. It only shows the service. Customers want to see the price of the service at the time they are booking online.
If you rebook, reschedule, modify a client appointment, they may or may not get a notification. It is sporadic as far as the function working properly. You cannot send out a confirmation manually. You have to cut and paste the clients email and send out your own email. Or write down the appointment, do an early cancel for the appointment and then rebook the appointment.
You cannot select the option to send a new client sms or email notifications until after the first appointment is booked and their profile is completely set up and saved. This should be an option to activate at the same time you are scheduling a new client.
Don't let me start on the janky app. Pllleeaassee.. I have decided to cancel my account and move on. Do not bother with this software. Some blockhead who has never run a Day Spa has created this. Spend money on a different software. Do not sign up with Mind Body. They are out of their Mind.

Comments: My experience with MIndbody software started in 2010. I was really scared at first, in the beginning it is a lot of work to input all your services and client list. But after that it is smooth sailing. My day to day closeouts, reports, emails, and the auto reminders are awesome! Wanting to improve my knowledge for the software I attended The Bold weekend in San Diego. I felt although I enjoyed it, I really did not learn more about the software program I really wanted to. During my one on one my tech had to leave early to go take a group picture. It was really rushed and that was a little disappointing. I just utilize the help videos if I need to now. I have never been more organized with my finances and feel very prepared at tax time! I plan to be using this software for many years to come!

Comments: As a small home bases business of 1 - was surprised at the jump in monthly fee. Yes it is convenient but not really sure if the rising cost can keep me going. especially when I have quieter times. So many of my clients still wont use the program - they say they are too busy??? so they end up bringing cash then I have to set their pass up and do all the bookings. Not your fault I know but then I receive higher bills from ezi debit. However for the ones that are using it - it is awesome.

Comments: I had never heard of MINDBODY before I opened my boxing and fitness club just over a year ago. Now, I cannot live without it! This system does everything right to help me run my business. The best thing is probably the phone app for business owner, the MINDBODY EXPRESS. Almost every single thing I need to do to run the business from half way around the world is right at my fingertips! Comments: My studio offers both dance and fitness classes. For fitness it's wonderful for clients to sign in online, etc. however for dance it is a disaster. Monthly payments have no way of being tracked the right way - it became so complicated that no one at MindBody even knew how to handle enrollments for dance. I gave it 5 months of a chance and finally started looking into other companies. The cost is high for all of the work you have to do. The program itself stressed me out. However, for barre or yoga studios I think it would be wonderful and customer service was outstanding. Dance studios - find something else that will better suite your needs!

Comments: We moved to MindBody from Salon Genius and it was the greatest move ever.
The software never glitches, has amazing features and best of all Customer support is available 24/7. Yes you speak to somebody all the time even midnight on a Sunday night.

Comments: Pros - many features that make bookings easier and faster. SMS option is fast and accurate. Easy to operate.
Cons - some bugs in the system, sometimes system goes down and that causes problems especially being an online system where there are no other options to use the system when the internet is down. Some features missing or unable to change options on invoices which makes the invoice incorrect and sometimes look unprofessional. When putting items on account for example and then paying out that item/invoice the service comes up as account instead of the actual service/item number/doctor details etc.

Great asset to my business.

Comments: I personally, have used this software back in 2008 at another business and was impressed with the functionality and organization it offered. Presently, we've been using it for the last 4 years or so and are quite satisfied with the results. There are still features of the program we don't use, yet, but we are still learning about all it can do. There are many things that we didn't know it could do or didn't know how to use. Great product.

Comments: The only thing that I find difficult sometimes is some members have a hard time logging in and reserving their classes so I'm stuck doing a lot of troubleshooting with them by asking them questions if they entered all their information properly etc it can become time consuming on my end. Besides that overall we love the application. Reports are awesome as we use this for a bunch of different things as well as customer service is awesome. Any time I have a question I'm able to call, chat or email them but most of the time I use the chat option and they are very patient and we troubleshoot together the issue. I'm very happy with mindbody and I do recommend to other businesses :)

Comments: I like the 24 hour customer help line. I like the fact that 95% of everything you need is already available - all you have to do is call and ask. I like the many other services they offer in conjunction with the product.

Comments: Initially we thought we had finally chosen the best software, 6 weeks later we are still waiting for our client lists and stock lists to be uploaded . I was lead to believe that this would be easy - not so!!! Clients were left out of the upload and stock not even added. Today I was told that it would be another 2 - 6 weeks before this is rectified, in the meantime I am unable to make use of the system. I have asked for a full refund and cancelled my subscription, not sure how this will end but very disappointed with the company. I certainly feel that I am just a number

Comments: We run youth volleyball club and MindBodyOnline told us they could provide us with a better online registration system than we were currently using. The sales person was great and he even got an engineer on the line to confirm their system would be compatible with our needs. Well, after I gave them a $900 deposit and we were 2 minutes in our first training session it became clear their system would not work for us as we have different locations (gyms) we train out of.
To be clear and fair, they were polite and accepted the fact their software was not compatible with our needs. The problem is the refund. They have gone MIA.

The transition to Mindbody was easy for staff to manage, overall the program is fantastic!

Comments: It sometimes freezes when trying to add staff schedules with date changes. If we encounter any problems we call Mindbody and have always had the help we need straight away.

Comments: Mindbody is a great software. Sure there are some elements what would be nice to have but having left Mindbody for another software and then coming back to them pretty much says it all. Their customer support for their product is excellent with 24/7 live help. Unfortunately, my attempt to use their approved partner, Live Edit for developing a website that would integrate with Mindbody was TERRIBLE! I mean I would have rated them 5 Stars in Customer Service but they really really really dropped the ball when I needed help communicating with a partner they support and suggested! The only service worse than their support for Live Edit was the actual customer support from Lived Edit which was also a joke. I spent a week creating my Live Edit website but when it came time to wrap up the lose ends there was no support WHATSOEVER! Kevin Harris from MBO completely dropped the ball several times requiring me to follow up until finally, I decided he and the Live Edit product "he supports" was just a complete waste of my time. Good thing he is not indicative of the technical support provided by MBO which is stellar! Then, Kevin (yes, same name...go figure) from Live Edit never even got back to me after I requested a quote for them to finish creating my website. I mean really! Don't you think following up on a potential sale to a client is good business. Mindbody....you need to rethink the partnership with Live Edit!

Comments: The sales team are very eager to get you on board without understanding your company. I would be very wary signing up without being completely sure they understand your needs.

The background of the software is extremely 'clunky', time consuming, overly complicated and aged.

Not recommended for small-mid sized yoga studios.

The customer service side was ok but that was more the people rather than service.

Bombarded with emails and too much information.

Look elsewhere.

Comments: Customer service friendly, but there is not a way to easily print a useable schedule for the day. Their printable version is difficult to use. You cannot print a side-by-side schedule of what is happening in your establishment as it is viewable from the appointment scheduling tab. People have been requesting this feature which is very much needed for over 2 years now and no one listens. It is very frustrating.

Comments: For the many complex operations MindBody covers, it is incredibly easy to use and the customer service is beyond excellent. There are a few features that would be great to have, that are missing from the service -- which, if they were implemented, could really up sales for our studio. As a Pilates studio which relies heavily on appointments, we really would love an automated waitlist feature for appointments that mimics the waitlist system for group classes. The product retail option is not very optimal, and not very attractive, so we have hesitated to really use it.

Comments: We are Texas' largest yoga and tai chi studio. We do business in the studio and on-line retail. MindBody reports makes quarterly sales tax a snap. In two mouse clicks I see our sales and tax responsibility. Before mind body sales tax accounting took us days. Now it is minutes! If you want a great return on investment I highly recommend MINDBODY.

If the platform resembled the needs of a martial arts system it would be be more beneficial for those in the industry. Having to sacrifice the use dune to the software being designed for the spa, yoga, pt style systems makes it a bit challenging. Other than that the software is designed well.

Comments: It taught me how important it is to manage KPIs and provided a layout with step by step instructions and reports to pull to monitor them. You learn so much wile you are there it is somewhat difficult to take it all in. But, they provide a booklet and a thumb drive with all of the slides and documents you need to take it with you when you go. I have only been able to implement a few of the things I learned but it has made a big difference.

Comments: We've been using MBO for almost 4 years. For the most part, it works fine. Some of the glitches have been fixed over the years, others not. I wish the Express app was more fully baked. And the lack of support for Apple Pay and credit cards with the new chip is extremely frustrating. We would love to be paper free and just capture digital signatures for credit card purchases, but the Express app has serious limitations. Look at what Square offers its customers in terms of POS hardware and usability. I mean, we can't even scan a barcode reliably with the Express app! It's embarrassing. Please, please, please, put more development into the app and POS hardware - it's time for MBO to join the 21st Century!

Comments: I am not sure what is going on lately but MBO is not running smoothly. Notes are popping up that clients owe money when they paid 6 months prior, auto emails going out in advance of appointments, clients being charged for memberships months after cancellation. It reflects poorly on our business. Liveedit was a total Nightmare and MBU was a waste of money and seemed like a big sales pitch for more MBO & partner services. Hugely disappointing. We are evaluating other options at this time.

Comments: I like that Mind body is constantly updating. Also, they have apps for both clients and teachers that are really easy to use. Every once in a while we get caught in a hang up with mindbody, but it is rare when the software doesn't fit our needs. The billing can also get confusing when looking between accounts, payments, and classes owed. Over all, this is a do all software, which allows students to book and pay online, and we have been very happy with the service.

Comments: MindBody has meant I can be playing with my 3 kids away from the studio and change an instrustor's availability with a 'click'.
My clients, for the majority, manage their own schedules and payments online or through the App.
I am able to do reports for all sorts of requirements making it a positive experience to work 'on' my business not just 'in' it.

Comments: I researched and have worked with several software programs in the past. MINDBODY has been the only one this far that does everything I need.
Pros:
The reports can dive in deep. The scheduling is easy and wonderful for both the business and the customer. Inventory, time clock, support, merchant processing, customer and owner apps, I absolutely love the ease, accessibility, and many many features of this software. The training was very thorough, and the support team is always checking for understanding. Follow up is great!
Cons:
Sometimes when calling to speak with someone direct or emailing a question, the wait time or call back time takes time (not more than 24 hours) however ...they continue to improve and work hard to get it right! They usually have an online answer which is available to look up.
Advice:
Do the training both online and in person. Communicate as clearly as possible the needs of your business, they want to make the program work for you and your business. Make it easy for the support staff to review your questions by adding your account # or name to emails and using an example of what you are trying to do. Take notes. Give MINDBODY a try, you will be glad you did! I have had a great experience and would do it again!

Comments: As a reference, I manage a small yoga studio.
PROS:
- allows me to have student accounts, sign students into class, accept payment, and do payroll/sales all in one place!
- super easy to use for day-to-day things (signing people in, making student accounts, selling class cards)
- flexible options - can pretty much set things up almost anyway you like
- they gave us a discount for the whole first year!
- The reports MB gives you are great - so many things!

CONS:
- There's 10 million ways to do the exact same thing in MB. And there's always one very specific thing you have to do before you set anything up and whatever that thing is, it's always no place to be found...
- You wait forever before getting connected to tech support. They do have a call-back service which is great, but if you miss their call back, that's it
- the quality of tech support is inconsistent. Half of them have no idea what they are doing. If you get a good one, ask them any questions you might have! You can't request certain tech support people.
- wish it had a program like HealCode to embed widgets. I hate having to pay for them both
- would also be nice if it had something similar to QuickBooks so everything was in the same place!
- it can sometimes be confusing for students/clients (especially the older ones...) when they are trying to sign up for things - not always user friendly. Especially for multi-session or multi-day events

Comments: Mindbody ("MB") may be great software for gyms, but it is not ready for beauty salons and day spas.

Using Salon Iris for many years but the true STM messaging, client online booking, cloud environment that MB boasted of convinced us to change.

* Booking multiple services painfully challenging and time consuming.

*Could not us STM messaging. MB software would send multiple text messages to clients booked for multiple services and there was no way around this. So, if client booked for haircut, color, conditioning treatment they would get 3 texts with 3 times asking for confirmations. Rendered it useless.

* Closing out the drawer unbelievably complicated.

* Using MB merchant services, if tips were not recorded properly before closing tickets, they could not be adjusted regardless of when batchout was scheduled. Once you closed the ticket, it was closed. Even if not batched out you are SOL (Our previous software and merchant vendor allowed us to enter a tip adjustment after the ticket was closed. In a busy salon this can be essential.)

* Once you checked out client, you could NOT reopen ticket and modify in any way. You had to void, rebook and re-checkout. There was some other convoluted way to do this also but it seemed even more complicated.

We knew this software just was not flexible enough for a hair salon and cancelled immediately after going live for one day. Was assured no more charges, no termination fees with merchant services or minimum monthly fee. I could return printer/reader for full refund. However this did not happen.

Refund of printer/reader ¿ although I was never provided a return policy or informed (ordered via email) they told me I was 4 days out of their 30 day return fee and I would be charged a 20% restock fee. (2 locations, 2 printers, readers, total of about $750. Googled equipment online. Exact same stuff would cost $400!) This was eventually resolved after 6-8 weeks.

Despite cancellation and confirmation from MB that we would not be charged subscription fee, within a few days our credit card was charged for following month. Admitted their error but been 6 weeks and still have not refunded the money. They are "working on it". I recently disputed the charge with my credit card company.

Comments: I switched to MBO a few years ago because I wanted to have the ability for clients to access our services online easier. Although the software is better than the one I had before, the initial fees and pitch you get are nothing like the company provides. Here is how it actually stacks up:
Monthly rate to have it
High merchant processing fees
Have to pay extra for the emailing aspect because they use constant contact instead of doing it in-house
You only get a personal rep for your business if you want to pay an extra arm and a leg every month for it
And you get bombarded with 3rd party add-on's instead of the software just improving and giving the clients more.

Overall the customer service is great, and I don't want to take anything away from the individuals working the help hotlines or contacts that I have had. But they are constantly doing "Updates" to the system every month and I have never seen a single update that I have requested....ever! (This includes a work order that I have had in for like 6 months just for them to fix links that do not work on my site) We have 8 locations and are growing and you would think we would get some kind of break on the merchant processing...the whole "Starting at 1.59 % + .20 cents" my a**. Tack on all the fees that come with it and you actually pay between 3-4% a transaction....if you are lucky.

If they could at least lower merchant processing fees and have stuff like emails actually included with the software, I would give them a 5 star in my book. Wishful thinking on my part I am sure but for YOU make sure you shop around for what the actual pricing is going to be....especially when some companies actually do have more competitive fees and rates. I think this company just has a case of getting too big, too fast.

Comments: First the pros and the big one is that its a web based software, yes you need internet but when you like us have multiple locations and needs a on-line booking system its a big one. And I can manage the system from where ever I am and keep an eye on thing with the app that with the last update is relay good. The functionalities available in the software gives us the flexibility to set up our site in a way that work for our business and when I can´t figure out how to the support is really good and fast to respond. The import of our old data was also quick.

The list of cons is not a long but one is the login, there is no pin login to quickly swap the staff that have logged in, you need to fully login with username and password, not a problem if the user have their own tablet or pc but if staff is sharing at the reception it takes time to log on/off.

Overall our experience is relay good and we would not been able to grow our business as we have without the software, when we looked for a software we consider different ones but at the end this was the most complete we could find. We could have spend less or more money than we did but at the end Mindbody have been a tremendous help to our growth.

Comments: The program is easy to utilize for people checking in. I would like to be able to navigate from client to client in sequential order instead of having to enter an advanced client search. I would also like for the program not to kick me out after 3 hours; I speak of this due to the need for it to stay on overnight as we have no one manning the computer at 5 am.

Lastly, I would like to be able to customize reports. I am able to retrieve information but I still have to format it differently for my report purposes and it has its specific format of a report and doesn't allow me to customize it.
