Pros: simple to you use, assigning tasks, creating templates, mobile friendly, integration with google apps.

Cons: not much we can think of.

Overall: We've been utilizing mavenlink for over 4 years and I have nothing but great things to say it. They've come a long way from 4 years ago and there's been many updates and improvements that pretty much covers everything you would need in order to manage any projects with team members across the globe or locally. It's a very robust solution that makes things easier to communicate with team members, assign tasks, dead lines, create templates for projects and even involve your client to review the progress and comment. It also intergerates with Google Apps which is great and you can easily sync your tasks on to your google calendar and attach email communications.

any firm that focuses on team projects should give mavenlink a try.

Recommendations to other buyers: take some time and learn all the features because it pretty much covers everything you would need to manage large or small projects with two or hundred team members.

Comments: This is a user friendly project management software. This was perfect for our team who was not familiar at all with tracking/maintaining projects. Templates are easy to set up and use again and again.

Recommendations to other buyers: Definitely recommend reaching out and talking with someone to see if it fits your organization's needs! They were very patient and thorough when we were shopping around.

Comments: Mavenlink is crazy complex. It does A LOT. Which is great... if you need that much data. If you're looking for something a little more intuitive that doesn't require as much work to actually use, there are better options. Managing Mavenlink is a job unto itself.

Comments: We use Mavenlink to project management all new school openings and are now starting to use it for all of our large national events. Mavenlink has definitely helped us open more schools worldwide efficiently and effectively.

Before Mavenlink, communication and documentation were major issues around our projects. With Mavenlink, we are able to document our calls and follow ups within the system itself. Tasks linked to communications are also very helpful. The features I like best are ease of use, Dashboard view of all projects, Templates, sync to Google Apps, and Gannt.

Comments: I've been using Mavenlink for about a month now and I'm really liking the tool. I manage a team of 8 x Account Executives for a Marketing Firm that deals with multiple people billing work on the same customers. As a manager, I've liked the reporting aspect. I suggest adding a feature voting tool so that people can vote on features they need added the most. I have a lot of suggestions. =)

Recommendations to other buyers: I do not like how a new window is constantly opening up. I ended up beginning to use the Timesheet feature to add time and that has been great. I wish it was easier to set reminders regarding open tasks. If I have a task that has started time and then add a sub-task it removes the time from the dashboard view even though it can be seen under timesheets, which seems confusing. I wish it was easier to see if I've already added time to a task and how much time. Maybe it's something I just need to understand better. I wish I understand how groups worked better. I would love a Starting Kit that I can give my new employees which shows them how to learn Mavenlink as a beginner. The Knowledge Base is good when trying to find something specific but not when you are just starting and don't know what you don't know. =)

Comments: Maven is easy to configure and is a pretty good tool from a project management perspective. We are not too comfortable using Maven for issue tracking ( as was the original idea). We would continue to use bugzilla/jira for issue tracking

Comments: RESOURCE ALLOCATION
Resource allocation is critical in our line of business and it was a major component missing from Active Collab. It is the norm for us to have multiple projects at varying phases of completion and up to 10 team members working on various tasks. As you can imagine, it can become very hard to keep track of workloads and schedule new tasks appropriately. Mavenlink has been a game changer for us in terms of resource allocation! With the click of a button we can now view every team member and get a detailed view of their workload.
FINANCIAL REPORTING
While Active Collab was not void of financial reporting, we needed a solution that was more robust. Once again, Mavenlink did not disappoint. From financials to projects to people, there¿s a report for that! As the Business Manager, I really appreciate the ability to create custom reports. Every client is unique in their needs. Mavenlink helps me satisfy clients¿ needs as well as our own internal needs.

USER INTERFACE AND EASE OF USE
We really love Mavenlink¿s visually pleasing interface and the ability to custom brand it. We liked that the company utilized features similar to some of the popular social network sites. This helps to give it a familiar feel to new users. We also like that it does a good job being intuitive to users¿ needs. This makes it pretty easy for new users to navigate without much instruction. Although we did put some how to videos together for our clients to ensure that everyone is comfortable using it.

CLIENT COLLABORATION
Our clients¿ perception is our reality. It is essential that our clients be able to collaborate with us on their project every step of the way. We were very surprised at the number of solutions that did not allow this. Mavenlink really goes above and beyond in this department. Clients can even use their free profile to create and manage their own personal projects outside of their CommonPlaces project.

COMMITMENT TO IMPROVEMENTS
No one solution is going to land a check mark for every requirement on your list. The one thing that really put Mavenlink ahead of the other solutions we considered was the company¿s commitment to improving their product. Along this journey we heard over and over, if you notice that there is something that we can improve upon, please take a moment to email us with your suggestions. In the 3 months that we have had Mavenlink, we¿ve already been notified of 2 great improvements!

Comments: We took on Mavenlink when we needed a 50,000 foot view of our department's capacity. The levels of organization that Mavenlink has brought our team's creatives have gone way beyond our expectations. People know exactly what they need to be working on when they come in in the morning. Plus, it allows us to monitor our team's capacity so we know when we need to add more than one creative to a job or even gives us backup when we need to prove why we need to hire more staff.

Recommendations to other buyers: If you're looking for that 50,000 foot view of your team's current workload and future capacity to take on more work, then Mavenlink will do a great job of that for you. Also, if you have processes that you do over and over the same way each time, Mavenlink makes scheduling them a snap.

Comments: We run a small firm of 5-10 employee's and this software has revolutionized the way we schedule projects (MS project was far to aggressive for our requirements). Project flow, resourcing and scheduling are very intuitive and the level of detail is invaluable. The whole experience is easily customized to your kind of business (we have on average between 30-60 projects, up to 140 tasks per project to give you an idea of our scope.) We do not have a formally trained Project Manager on Staff but the interface was easy to learn and looks to be able to expand with us as we grow in size.

Our setup was a logistical nightmare however. Our assigned support expert was often non-responsive to simple requests and provided almost no real training on how to set up the system in a way that was tailored to our specific company requirements and billing structure. There are no phone numbers you can call, e-mail is the only communication method provided. We actually ended up trading in his support for extra time with a training manager who finally got us up and mostly running. I would say we are utilizing about 80% of what the software is capable of at 4 months into implementation mostly due to lack of attention to detail during setup. (We do not bill or invoice through this software.)

On a lower level support is wonderful. We often use the Live Help Chat (with a great success rate) and the knowledge base covers a wide range of topics and seems to be continually developing. If you have motivation and initiative this is a great product.

Comments: This application counts with many features that makes the workflow more efficient. Great collaboration tool which makes everything easier with Google Apps integration.

Overall, it includes most of the features I really need and it allows to cover about 90% of my needs. The other 10% there is always a way to solve it, but we will be waiting for future updates, since they seem to be including more awesome updates.

Beside that 10%, it covers all the needs for most of the projects in any field.

I would like to highlight their great customer service.

Comments: Mavenlink is great for keeping track of projects. The tools saves me countless hours of having to track projects with spreadsheets, email or a desktop tool. They are constantly releasing new features and their support is always available and helpful. I love the integrated time and expense feature, gantt chart, project overview, analytics, and API (though I haven't given the API a run as yet). Its great that my customers can sign in and communicate with us. No more searching through email conversations. The only thing missing is a basic CRM for keeping track of customers, the ability to modify the number of hours in a day, and the ability to force users to select a task when submitting time. The groups feature and custom fields partially fills the CRM void but switching between companies/groups means having to reset the filter. It would also be great if the application saved viewing preferences. I like to see all projects but once I open a project, the list defaults back to show the 10 most recently edited. Same thing goes for tasks with sub-tasks. I like to see all sub-tasks but once I switch to something else, I have to manually expand each tasks with sub-tasks.

Comments: I particularly love the Live Chat feature. Mavenlink is not like most Live Chats where you feel like the person on the other end is helping 15 other people. They are fast, friendly and knowledgeable.

Comments: Hello,

I had a problem with the way that my Mavenlink dashboard / account was reporting information (the dates were skewed). I wrote to customer support and learned that the issue was larger than I could foresee on the front end.

As the issue was in the process of being resolved, I communicated with one customer support person over the course of 2 months. He checked in with me on a weekly basis to let me know what the status of the fix was, and assured me that it was being worked on.

It was just great just knowing that the problem was being fixed.

Overall, we've had a great experience with Mavenlink -- and would recommend it as a project management tool. To boot, the customer service is awesome and they stick to their promise of continuing to invest in and improve the project over time.
