Pros: It is very versatile.

Cons: Slow learning curve and intimidating interface.

Overall: I think Target Process is a good tool but it has a slow learning curve. Once you get to know it, it is a good. But, specially for devs, the tool is a little bit too complicated.
And some routine tasks for Agile teams like creating new stories and/or tasks is not optimized and the interface is a bit confusing requering a lot of clicks to do what you want next (like: just create another US).

Pros: Flexibility

Cons: Learning curve

Overall: We went through a dozen of different software packages to find a solution that would match our business process.
It has been already a year since we started using Target Process and the more we learn the more impressive.
Initially, it may be not very intuitive, but after some practice and after reading *excellent* how-to articles you can appreciate the flexibility and power.
So the learning curve may be a bit harder than other software packages, but you will get what you need.
From the cost perspective - the only thing I would suggest is to have a separate price for Active users and the rest of the users (kind of read-only / observer user, but with the capability to have work assigned to him).

Recommendations to other buyers: Improve Reporting engine or expose data to established reporting engines (like Power BI)

Pros: It's brilliant for Kanban/Scrum tracking.

Cons: The learning curve is steep. This is not really the fault of Target Process. But more because there is so much functionality, it takes a while to learn it all.

Overall: I've been using Targetprocess for the last 12 months to keep track of tasks in the CRM area of my Marketing team and it has been fantastic. It does everything you would want with Scrum tracking - we can create iterations/sprints, measure velocity, assign stories to people, create tasks underneath that, etc.

The only thing I would suggest is that if you are new to Scrum/Kanban, because it has so many more features, TargetProcess can have a steeper learning curve than simpler tools such as Trello.

Pros: Extreme flexibility, with a solution for every workflow in a software development environment

Cons: Tough to set up initially, without a sharp couple of folks to own it, learn it, and get it going in the org.

Overall: It's a blank canvas at first, with a few processes and workflows ready to go. It took a dude at our company really considering our own process and customizing the workflow to fit that, and we were off and rolling. Swimlanes with the ability to drag items in and out, up and down. Tasks on stories with their own swimlanes. Communication and notification options that are easy to contol. TP is the hub of everything.

You want it done? Create a request. That's the way we do business and work, thanks to TargetProcess.

Bear in mind, it doesn't just happen automatically--you need an organizationally-minded individual or two to get the vision, learn the platform, and make it happen, but we've made this the hub of every operation at our company.

Pros: how configurable it is so that each team can set up things how they want it to be setup and for what works best for their team.

Cons: it is hard for people to understand the product when they first start using it. Also the queries are confusing for people who don't want to take the time to understand how they can use it.

Overall: I manage a team of 7 developers working on multiple projects, as well as manage their work in target process for their sprints.

Recommendations to other buyers: we have been using this product for a few years now, and there are some issues we run into with multiple teams and work/cards not being able to be placed in multiple projects. We also have issues with managers trying to prioritize work for their team who is working on multiple projects.

Pros: Fast, high customization and easy to create custom boards.

Cons: - query language is often difficult
- arrow on scrolling the board
- burn down

Overall: Generally speaking i love target process and the way you do things guys.
i would have to be honest the only thing really piss me off is the arrows in the boards in order to scroll if there are too many columns and row. i already said this many time to the tech support and also offered my experience in the canvas rendering but in 3 years you have not yet took that in consideration.

overall the product is pretty good and amazing.
My personal opinion is that the way of estimation and the timeline component are the most weak ones and i would suggest to explore them a bit more.
in a project is of course fundamental to speed up the daily work and there you can just adjust little bugs, but the real crucial point of the development is to don't make wrong estimations and being able to respect those. i think that here the tool should help more.
As i said i think this would take the product to the next level but if someone asks me if i would ever come back to some other products or jira ..... NO WAY!

Cons: Left navigation needs multiple levels, no undo, templates for a given team would be great

Overall: I have tried Mingle, Jira, Version One, Trello and a whole host of other PM tools and I constantly come back to TP.
It's a portfolio, story mapping, delivery and QA test tool all in one but is so much more. You can use it for software development, ticket management as well as on any project that has clear visible workflows that can be visualized. It's strengths are its flexibility and ease of use and the fact that it is constantly being improved based on real customer feedback.
The customer support and knowledge of the product is second to none.

Pros: Ability to customize

Overall: I have used Target Process at 2 companies now, in very different capacities. I liked the experience so much at my previous employer, when my current job needed a project tool, I recommended TP first and did a test drive with my team. They caught on quickly and also liked a lot of the features.
The ability to add custom fields and create mashups really helps in building templates for my team to follow.

Recommendations to other buyers: Take it for a test drive as-is, then start customizing.

Comments: There are some features missing, such as running average velocity predictions and the ability to easily split stories in a sprint when NOT using tasks (Dev effort finished but QA effort hasn't, so split story into next sprint to realize the dev effort for velocity). But this software does seem to be quite customizable. I also wish I could clone a folder full of views instead of just cloning at the view level, for when I need to spin up another development unit.

Pros: Customization, flexibility

Cons: Hard to use

Overall: The product and engineering team at my company use Target Process to track our backlog, prioritize feature requests, triage incoming bugs, and track our sprints. The tool is very flexible and allows you to enter custom fields to suit your business needs. The only negative is that there is a high learning curve due to the amount of customization. However, once you learn how to use it, Targetprocess is a great tool to help your team stay organized.

Pros: The ease of the boards once they are setup.

Cons: Difficult to setup boards. The reporting is not great. Limitations to what I can add logic wise.

Overall: I really like using the boards, but they can be difficult to setup. Also some of the business logic setup around the boards doesn't jive with what we want to do sometimes. The worst part for me is forecasting and reporting. It takes a lot of data for the burn down to be accurate. Which is frustrating.

Pros: I like the easy-to-use, intuitive interface. I like that I can drag items from lane to lane.

Cons: I don't like that there is no easy and obvious way to delete projects from my view. I've been using the platform for a while, and a lot of the projects I worked on at the start aren't really relevant for me any more. I'd love an easy way to archive those.

Overall: Target Process has been a terrific tool for being able to organize small and large projects alike and to stay on target. They are continually updating the platform to integrate the elements and functionality requested by their users. Overall, I like the platform, and the limitations I've had with Target Process so far aren't really alien to the entire industry of project management platforms (i.e. so much information in a single view that it can be overwhelming).

Recommendations to other buyers: Not really. I have recommended this product several times since I've started using it.

Pros: One place for any information about projects

Cons: Hard work to build the rights views
Inconsistency : differents views of a same item (task /US) doesn't offer the same actions // the same way of actions (IE : assigning a team / a teamiteration)

Overall: We choose TP for it's ability to answer most of our needs in Agile / Scrum / Kanban.
You can can do almost "anything you want"... but sometimes you get lost in "what is the best way to do it".
We needed several weeks (months !) before finding the right views for each situation of our work (conception, plannification / getting things done / reviewing / making the stats /...), and the right procedure to read (or record) the right information

As there are many ways to access/edit an information, some actions are not always available when you think they would.
IE :
- Adding time spent in the past is really hardwork // especially you have to add US/tasks that weren't previously created
- Changing TeamIteration for a task or a US is not available in every view of a task/US in the work hierarchy

But in the end, TP is pretty helpful for us.
Keep on going !
Thanks guys

Recommendations to other buyers: Although I LOVE this product very much, I often find it's so hard to train non-engineers to use it. Business people simple don't have this 'object oriented thinking'. Pros: Highly customizible with a solid, flexible API so we can integrate our own reporting and management systems into it.

Cons: Not much. I can't imagine how to make a piece of software this powerful and flexible without having a learning curve. It definitely has a learning curve.

Overall: We have adopted TP not just in development but for all the work we do regardless of the type (e.g. design, media buying, research, etc.). It's fantastic but it takes time for people to get the hang of it. It's a great tool and I haven't seen anything that compares.

Recommendations to other buyers: Setting it up and customizing it for your own company's workflow is the hardest part. We tried a couple different configurations over the years before we settled on one we liked. Think carefully before you configure it. You'll still get it wrong, but hopefully it'll be less wrong.

Comments: I've been using Target Process for about a year. I've seen it go through a number of iterations, and I do believe the software is improving. There is a bit of a learning curve, but for the most part I enjoy the feature. And for any question or issue I've had, the support team at TP has been very responsive and has resolved my issues. I'm pleased that my company is using the software and I look forward to what TP has in store for the future.

Pros: I like the ability to build custom boards, views and reports. Customer service is great as well

Cons: Bulk actions are tough, right clicking in text editors for spell check is disabled and sometimes I just want to list all people but apparently I need to make a view for that

Overall: We have been using target process for several years on a rather large software project. We have roughly 30 members all using the software and it has been a delight to use. There are other solutions out there like Jira but TargetProcess has worked great for our needs. What sets TargetProcess apart from other solutions is their support. Anytime I have a question I have someone on live chat that can help me and every time their support has solved my questions.

Pros: The flexibility and that reports and views are only templates and can always be adjusted to suit each user

Cons: Because its flexibilty it also makes it hard to understand what is best practise.

Overall: We choose the Targetprocess since it offers most things we require. We are using it both for monitoring our maintenance and for projects. We also like the different views with both lists and kanban/scrum boards. The timeline view is also good to use when planning the work for each user.

Recommendations to other buyers: The online guide covers a lot, but it's a lot of jumping between different links. It's hard to get the full picture about a certain subject.

Pros: Easy to customize
Easy to use
very accessible

Overall: Maybe this sounds familiar to some people...
As a member of an IT organization we are offering cutting edge solutions to our company users, but our own tools are, lets say not so 'edgy'.
As the leader of a solution team, I was looking for a tool which can serve as a commonly used data repository and will replace the almighty Excel sheets.
With Targetprocess we handle now demand management, release planning, progress reporting and time backreporting for several software products. The system is easy to use and you do not need to be a very technical person to create your own views.
My stakeholders like Target Process, because they can see real time what is going on and I like it, because I do not have to provide so many progress reports as I needed to.
Another very good feature of Targetprocess is its flexibility. It enabled us to implement our whole process (5 involved teams, defined handover points) within the limits of standard customization which we could do ourselves.
We are still very satisfied with our decision and I would make the same decision again.

Recommendations to other buyers: Like with all other pieces of software...it is only as good as the defined process which it supports.

Overall: We switched from physical board to TP. Our team loves it because it can be accessed from anywhere and status can be seen in real time. Members can communicate back and forth by emails and files, screenshots can be part of the card.

Recommendations to other buyers: Some people are reluctant to make a switch from the physical board. Give it a try to Target Process.

Comments: I am a Solutions Designer for epay. My main role is to design functional and technical requirements for specific projects. TP in general is easy to use and my only complaint would be around character limits and the format bar. We use a section for Acceptance Criteria and large requirements can run out of room quickly. We get around this by placing main descriptions and screenshots in the larger description section. For either section, once you enter enough data, the format ribbon is static and doesn't scroll as the page continues. This forces a user to scroll up and down to select format options if they do not know the keyboard shortcuts.

Pros: Ease of use and constant improvements.

Cons: For me, there seems to be some obvious functionality that is not included such as duplicating user stories, tasks, test cases and such.

Overall: In all the application works well and has lots of value for it's role in our day to day operations. My company uses the system as the corner stone application for our agile project development system of management and for the most part it works quit well. The system is flexible enough not to lock you into a pre-determined work-flow box but structured just enough to help save you from yourself at times. There are many opportunities for improvements such as duplicating user stories, tasks, and test cases as new items, the filtering is found to be quite difficult especially for non-development folks such as myself, and the ability to share boards with outside teams or clients could be a tad more useful. In all a solid product that fits with just about any team size that is dependable and constantly improving.

Recommendations to other buyers: For me having a less developer centric approach may benefit. Not to say you should move away from that as this tool is made to help the development process, but many people who use are not developers so simplifying things such as filters would be helpful.

Cons: Learning curve is bit long if we want to go in deep but that's expected from these kind of products.

Pros: The beauty of TargetProcess is in its flexibility. When we started using TP we tweaked it all kinds to track our workflow the way we wanted. Over time our process has moved a bit more true to "pure" scrum and many of those customizations have gone away. We still have tweaks here and there to track extra info or to track things just how we like, but in general the tool is right on the money.

Cons: Some of the default calculations aren't what we'd prefer. For example: the sum total of points in a feature only includes stories, not bugs. We've worked around that though.

Comments: History: We've been using target for some 3 years now.

Lets start off with some bad and the ugly:
One of the main issues we've encountered using TP is the inability to report "incidents" - core entity that should be available and recognized in a tool like this because it would allow clearer solving and tracking of issues and potential defects.
Secondly, the software itself is very complicated to learn so it can't be used efficiently right on the get go.
Thirdly, it is very unclear what this software is actually trying to be. It seems to appease all the crowds, IT, QA, Management, Business etc. and in all that it's become a jack of all trades but a master in none.

The good:
It's quite modular, and you can modify it to your demands, up to a degree. Customer support seems alright and you can see people are working on issues and are trying to expand the software as much as possible in the time given.
Thanks to the high customization features, software is able to adapt to your business and your way of working instead of you adapting to it, which is great.

Finishing thoughts:
All in all, when you start to give in too much to please everyone, you start to lose focus and start running into problems. Businesses start adapting the tool to themselves, and after a while, they adapt it wrongly, in some unnatural way that it's not supposed to be used at all. And that is a big issue that we've found.
This is a great software, but it either lacks additional features or it needs a firmer approach to using it.

Pros: Nice interface in general, easy to use.

Cons: Filter functionality is good, but a bit "messy" and not very user-friendly.
There is no really good way (that I have found) to highlight milestones and User Stories/Features/Epics in the time plan.

Overall: A bit of a threshold to get over in the start (hence only three stars for "Ease of Use"), but once that threshold is passed it is a really helpful and efficient tool. Very versatile and adaptable, which makes it easy to fit to your own business needs.

Comments: Often project management can become a sort of a labor intensive contract - something you know you should do, but are not sure what the gains are for all the effort involved. Target Process removes the tedium and makes Project Management rewarding again. Target Process gives you confidence in your data, so it no longer is just 'that thing' you need to do but a source of truth, and a single point of knowledge whereby you can get quantifiable trends and data from the tool. The fact that it looks nice and is easy to use, are just bonuses. Definitely would suggest giving it a trial, you won't go back to anything else, and if you have any issues their support is immediate and ever-present to help you out.

Comments: I am using TP for more than a 2 years and I am quite satisfied with all the aspects. Great functionalities, great support. It is not so easy to understand from developers side, this might be simplified. Maybe to have some mode for Developers, or depending on the role. Something like a predefined set of simple views that can be easily comprehended by developers, scrum masters, product owners. Actually, I have done it by myself for my team.

Beside this, the product is great. One thing I have to say I am not satisfied is that burn down charts can not be adjusted to show detailed changes.

Comments: We love using Target Process, most of the time. We have our workflow customized exactly to our needs and can provide specific views for developers so everyone knows what to work on and when. The filters are super powerful, and much more intuitive than in the past. The drag & drop functionality allows us to make large scale changes quickly without a headache.

At the same time, there's a few services that break on a semi-regular basis, most prominently 'auto-update' (i.e. the comet protocol used to update the contents of the screen without needing to refresh the page) and full text search (i.e. elasticsearch based token method of searching all entities which, when disabled, prevents any kind of searching other than by-entity-number). These two can bring our productivity to a screeching halt (imagine a developer working. Sometimes we can reindex the search and get going again within an hour or so, but often we can't even access the plugin to do this (nor, frankly, should we have to).

There have been discussions about moving to Jira (which is basically the only viable competitor at this point) because of its flexibility with integrations. However, the actual product isn't easy to work with so it's been a sticking point. But, it's not out of the question.

Final note... customer support is helpful but is staffed according to European time zones. So, right when you need them the most in the US, there's one dude trying to help you and he has no path of escalation to engineers. They'll fix your problem quickly overnight, though.

Pros: The freedom the users have to create and plan just about any kind of test for anything.

Cons: Very little, I do find tiny bugs here and there but I am a software QA so I tend to attract bugs in all software.

Pros: Flexible and adaptable.
Provides independent views for the same data for distinct people, fully customisable by each person.

Cons: Mobile App needs improvement.

Overall: Target process is a step forward in Portfolio, Program and Project management. The ability to drill down from a top level to the task level allow us to manage a wide range of projects. There is a learning curve, not assigned to the product, but assigned to our mindset shift! When compared to MS Project the approach is completely different, way more flexible and adaptable. Yet, the mobile App need some improvement.

Comments: As a web developer in an agile environment I have many projects with many tasks. Keeping track of these without target process was a painful experience.

The company I work for introduced me to Target Process and I found it easy to get along with.

I can easily flick between projects and tasks. I can easily track my progress and my manager can easily create projects and assign tasks.

I find that the interface is clean and simple to use with a simple drag and drop style card system and it is also fast.

One of the many features I find very useful is the view system, which enables me to switch between projects and tasks so I can see only what I need to concentrate on or what my colleagues are working on or even what my manager is planning as collaboration and input is valued here.

The ability to add many details to a task such as developer, release and iteration information is also really useful for our team as we can easily track who did what to what.

There is an API to hook into as well which seems very useful. I initially had an issue with using it but the support team had me sorted out in next to no time & helped me to identify an issue with my code.

Having only used simple products to track tasks previously, Target Process really really shines. I have recommended it several times already to fellow developers from previous employments.

Comments: This is a good tool with a great set of features. I'm still getting a handle of some of the finer points of the tool but at times it can feel like it is unfinished. For example, there are often multiple ways to attempt the same output but the process can differ. Try linking cards for example, there is a search facility where you can search by anything and there's an add facility where you need the name of the card you are linking - why?! There also seems to be a lack of fine access control but given that I don't administer the tool I'm taking that on good faith.
Overall though the tool does work well. I like the way everything is a data object and how you link them is entirely up to you. Changing views, cards etc is easy as is creating filters for what you want to see. Linking is easy once you figure out the right way and the views showing dependencies are great. You can find tune the cards as little or as much as you want.
So to summarise, great flexible tool with a lot of features that has a few rough edges that need sanding.

Overall, a very handy piece of software.

Pros: I like the prioritization features, although I don't understand/wish it was available in more areas. The reporting is great, and the Feature/User Story/Task set-up is very handy.

Cons: Custom reporting is VERY difficult to understand.

Overall: We have used both Scrum and Kanban and Targetprocess has been able to support both. There is a TON of functionality, some of it more useful than others. I'd like to see some other functionality included. The 'voting' system for new functionality is very agile, but I'm not sure it's super effective. The reporting options are very handy and people/team management is great too.

Recommendations to other buyers: Overall it's better than most other software I've tried to use to manage our Agile team.

Pros: Keeps evolving and many of the issues we find get resolved within a few weeks.

Cons: It's a bit slow in loading a few parts of the application.

Pros: The filters to see the progress of the different projects

Cons: Hard for me to repeat what I have already written on my stand up meetings.

Overall: Tanks to target process, I accomplish all my projects in time within my work team.
is is easy to customize filters to have different views on the projects and the reports are super easy to understand, the lay out of the interface give me a better way to easily find the state on the flow of our projects, having the option of adding files is another plus, because some times when a person on the team needs help to finish a task on a user story having this files available kind of put you on track on this persons work and you can easily start helping with out interfering on his end.
different options to change the state on a user story facilitates the work invest and make the software more easy to learn it.
one of the features that I like the most is having the filters to easily change the view of a project where you can see who is working on what and the progress of the user story or just simply concentrate what you doing by leaving it on My work only.
over all target process is easy to understand, helps giving you the option to create reports with out taking to much time or effort.

Recommendations to other buyers: have some YouTube tutorials so we can train new members of the team to get familiar with Target Process.

Pros: Powerfull, the backlog management, easy to customize.

Cons: Rights system (to simple), not possible to easily retreive something deleted.

Overall: We work with Target Process for almost 1.5 year and are very satisfied.
We mainly work on a big project with two Scrum team of 8~9 people in each.
The Product Owner can manage their backlog, the developers follow their work and the ScrumMaster play with reporting, burdown, etc.
The tool is fast, once understanding, it is very easy to use (there is a lot of "shortcut").
Some functionnality are missing but the project is updated quite ofen.
I really encourage you to have a look on it but not a too simple "test", the tool need some days to be well understanded.
There is plenty of documentation and the customer service is ver very reactive.

Pros: Flexibility, extensibility, ease of use, support.

Cons: Learning curve can be steep for new users, given the flexibility of its views.

Overall: Having been with TargetProcess for a number of years we've witnessed the evolution of the product, and its development over that time and its roadmap looking forwards have really made it stand out for us among a packed field. The process-agnostic ethos and openness of its various APIs make it incredibly flexible and extensible, allowing it to comfortably adapt to any Agilesque organisation. The interface is intuitive, the availability and performance of the cloud option are generally faultless. Close down your spreadsheets, uninstall MS Project and deactivate Jira - TargetProcess is where it's at.

Recommendations to other buyers: Customise, customise, customise! The power of TargetProcess is in adapting to your process - if you just use one of the out of the box processes you're missing out on its true value. Also, go for the cloud option - it's cheap, reliable and always up to date.

Apart from couple of outages every now and then, great tool with very handy set of functionalities. Continuously being updated, good release notes and fast support.

Bad:
The reported bugs on the other hand take ages to be address and fixed (haven't seen any outcome so far), mobile app not very useful nor bug free and the custom process setup for a project is very unintuitive.

Ugly:
The newly (couple of months back) project/team selector is a bad idea - liked the previous one way better (possibility to use same views with different project/teams and bookmark it). The inability to select multiple items (to edit) in the list view bothers me as well.

Pros: Great set of functionality

Cons: Learning Curve

Overall: When i started working in UXPin as a Project Manager, i saw that the tool we were using for task management was Asana. i had never ever had experience with that tool before. After using it for few days, it became obvious to me that the tool needed to be changed, because it lacked essential functionality for running and tracking a great development process.

After analysing quite a few tools on the market (Wrike, Teamwork, Assembla etc.) my choice landed on Targetprocess, and i have convinced the company to switch.

For me as a PM, the tool had everything that i wished for and the learning curve for me was not soo steep, but for devs and other departments of the company it took quite some time to get familiar and understand the benefits.

Therefore, my advise would be to simplify the UI/UX to decrease learning curve, which, i assume, would drive more revenue.

Comments: This tool helped us a lot when working in a small team of devs (3-4). It is not really easy to set up but a lot can be done when skills have been acquired.
I used it even on none real agile project (such as fixed-rate project).
Time tracking is quite good and was enough on my project.

Excelente software. Sempre atualizando-se e tendo muito diversificação para trabalho diferenciandos.

Pros: Facilidade de uso.

Cons: Por enquanto nenhum!

Overall: Sou estudante e pesquisador científico na área de projetos. Para mim é um software que foi fundamental para meus estudos, quando aluno de Gerenciamento de Projetos, e continuará sendo como agora Gerente.

Recommendations to other buyers: Também, por enquanto nenhum!

Pros: The customer experience is top-notch, and they will work with you to make the software work for your company.

Cons: The search function is a dumpster fire.

Overall: Overall, I love Target Process. We made the switch from Youtrack about 6 months ago. I wasn't a fan of the restrictions TP has when it comes to filtering and making queries for lists. I also didn't understand how the search function could not seem to pull up a correct result, even if one typed in the EXACT title of the entity. But even with those ailments, The amount of depth and structure TP provides was far superior to Youtrack, and ultimately works better for our development team. I'd also like to applaud how reliable the customer support is. I rarely have to wait more than a minute to have someone to chat with. On top of that, the continuous growth of the program is reassuring. Thank you guys for being great!

Recommendations to other buyers: I think it's great! Just the search bar.
