Pros: The thing I like best about this software is that you can manage multiple projects within a larger project. It really helps you manage a campaign and see it at a high level all the way down to the weeds.

Cons: I wish the calendar tasks integrated with my Outlook calendar. However, the email alerts help you stay on top of any upcoming tasks.

Overall: Streamlined project planning!

Pros: It is an easy way to organize and create long form stream of messaging within groups. The tools allow the manager or leader to set goals and it is a great way to keep docs for each project in one place.

Cons: The email messages I receive for each "ping" or message are annoying. It would be better to just have 1 daily update of activity instead of multiple daily messages.

Pros: Overall, Basecamp is extremely user friendly. Most people can get up and running on the system with little to no training.

Cons: Basecamp lacks some more advanced project management features, but overall the system is a very good value for most project management needs. The file storage structure could be designed better.

Overall: Better organization and management of my projects with the ability to easily collaborate with multiple parties.

Cons: I did not get the option of customize the UI and after running for awhile the software would freeze up.

Overall: I found a new and effective way to monitor and maintain my documents and my projects

Pros: Just about everything, and then some! While the collection of traditional Basecamp tools are mostly the same (to-dos, messages, files, etc.), the interface is all new, every tool has been upgraded in a variety of ways, and there's a huge list of new stuff as well.

Cons: The search function is lacking. It can't search the content of a thread, comments, or sometimes even the name of the task.

Overall: I think Basecamp is a great tool for organizing files. I used it for project management. I also use it to help me manage my supervision notes for each team member. One of the features that I like is being able to upload documents to my Basecamp files. I also like being able to add and remove users to these files as needed.

Pros
Basecamp is easy to use. It's customizable. I find that it has all the basics - everything I need to effectively manage notes, files, and actions plans for my team.

Cons
Could use better search features. I would like to have better options for sending correspondence from the employee files.

Very helpful. Keeps me on track and organized.

Pros: The ability to section out tasks into different categories. The message thread. Easily closing out tasks. Email notifications.

Cons: There could be a better calendar feature. Also, it would be great to be able to reply directly to a BC thread via email.

Pros: The ability to list agenda items by priority and email notifications are the best qualities that come to mind immediately. I also enjoy the ability to bold and italicize type within thread comments.

Overall: Basecamp is a reminder tool as well as an organizational tool. Basecamp is as much practical as it is useful. It absolutely improves the communication and organization of our team resulting in timely produced, quality work.

Cons: The search function is lacking. It can't search the content of a thread, comments, or sometimes even the name of the task.

Overall: This tool has a ton of good team communication features - automatic reminders, scheduling team meetings, running reports for overdue deliverables, team chat boards, etc etc. It's a good team hub and has a little bit of everything!

For what we pay for this robust system, it manages our entire service operation. I'm sure people worldwide are using BC in exciting ways the authors never conceived when they were rolling out the platform. However, it is a huge part of my management team and my daily life. I could not work this effectively without it. KUDOS!

Pros: Basecamp has a designated discussion area where you can go to ask questions or give your opinions and feedback on a project. I was able to manage user permissions. As an admin in Basecamp, you can choose who is able to see what projects, and also decide what users can and can't do.

Cons: Basecamp does not provide any analytical or reporting tools, which could make analyzing data and making informed decisions about projects easier.

I have used other project management software, but Basecamp has everything we need in one place.

Pros: It keeps our team on track! Love the milestones the most and the file sharing is very helpful amongst our team members.

Cons: It would be nice to send late reminders to users. They currently receive a reminder before the due date, but a reminder email until it is checked off would be great!

We also looked into moving to Basecamp 2/3 but seems too different verses an expansion on the Classic version.

Pros: The software is easy to use and anyone from my team can easily be trained on how it functions. It's very user friendly! It helps keep my team in check and keeps us on top of our projects from day to day. I really enjoy how much time it frees up from not having to search for something in a million different places!

Cons: I feel like there's other software out there that's less costly than Basecamp but doesn't offer the same sort of management it does. The price is fair but I wouldn't recommend Basecamp to a smaller company that may not need it.

Pros: I found it to be a great way to communicate within the team, specifically to certain team members. Also really easy to do lists of tasks.

Cons: Takes a bit to know where everything is but it seems to be very clear after you get used to it. But Basecamp doesn't have milestones, just tasks.

Overall: Great software to communicate and get important tasks done.

Pros: If you or another team member accidentally deletes an important file, you can still get it back by going into Basecamp's trash can and restoring it. You may not use this feature often, but it could be extremely valuable to have on your side if you happen to lose important documents.

Cons: Basecamp does not support milestones, and so there is no way to track these major events from within the system. Milestones can be very useful for keeping your projects on track, so if you're looking for a software with this capability, it would probably be wise to consider other options.

Pros: How all collaboration between everyone involved in a project is all in one place where everyone can see what is going on and make contributions, making managing a project much easier.

Cons: There os no WYSIWYG editor for your posts, comments, etc. Being able to use things like bold, other fonts, would help reading legibility and hierarchy.

Pros: I like that it's an easy way to communicate with a team and receive updates and changes from various team members.

Cons: I do not like that not anyone can set up a folder for a new project in the newest version. Rather than upload my files into a new project folder, I would have to email the administrator the files and ask them to set-up the new project folder.

Overall: Ease of communicating with a team about a project. No need to keep track of emails and comments, they're all in one place.

Pros: I was tasked with implementing a CRM program into our company which had a sales team consisting both of mature guys most of which have been with the company for more than twenty years and performed their duties without the use of today's technology and a group of young eager salesman just out of college that expected the best electronic utilities available to simplify their jobs. After working through trial periods of all the major sales programs and carefully weighing the benefits and costs of each one, Basecamp was the one I chose and it has been a huge success.

Cons: It wouldn't be right to say that they dislike i.e. any part of the software because it served our purpose perfectly. My biggest con would have to be that the way the purchase options were packaged their were items I wanted to use that were only available in the most expensive plan but yet most of the items that were in that plan had no relevance to what we needed.

Overall: Too many to list. Product had great features and was much easier to use than most CRM programs available

Pros: It's easy, but that means that it is not an improvement from email as you can post on discussions everything you want.

Cons: Poor features, too basic. Once you are in a long or big project with a lot of post on the discussion threads, it's not possible to keep in order the ideas. It's very similar to an email, where you only add and add more content to the last person who wrote something.

It's not even easy to add documents. The integration with Google Suite is pretty poor: I need to re-accept the connection EVERY TIME I want to upload a new document.

Overall: I did not get many of the product itself, but I got some from the new habit of using this kind of product. But for sure, next time I can decide which product to use, I will choose a different one.

Pros: For my startup company, I had business partners and collaborators scattered everywhere geographically and we were using google drive to share files and having discussions over whatsapp and skype. Using Basecamp has been a great experience and a platform for not only organizing all the people and collaborative efforts in discussions and documentation, but also to keep a record of all these interactions.

Cons: There was a slight learning curve and it took awhile for some less IT-inclined folks to get used to it, but it's no rocket science and once they discovered all the neat features messaging and time tracking, all was on board with it.

Pros: Task assignment - Flexible with a selection of plug-in services. Quick to start using. Handles visual assets well. Basecamp keeps project management simple, but in some regards, too simple. The service remains simple to use and quick to setup, but it's not nearly as robust as other online project management solutions.

Cons: Manual assignment of a task - Doesn't foster communication within teams. Some third-party apps (Google Drive, Dropbox) require additional services to connect. Basecamp keeps project management simple, but in some regards, too simple. The service remains simple to use and quick to setup, but it's not nearly as robust as other online project management solutions.

Pros: Collaboration is a breeze. It is simple to create and track project deliverables and timelines with the native Checklist functionality. The ability to assign tasks in the same view makes it even easier to streamline workflow between several different teams. Notification customization is better than most similar applications, and enables users to stay in the loop without being overwhelmed by less important communication.

Cons: Attachment previews in the Checklist are a bit shaky at times. The lack of customizable pages is annoying, would like to be able to change color scheme and input company logo. Also time tracking should be a feature on their immediate roadmap, as it is a core competency of almost all software in the competitive space.

Pros: About 8 years ago I started using Basecamp. At the time it was a top of the line pm tool. Easy to use, fast customer service and helped me and my team communicate.

Cons: Over the years I've used it the features and functionality just haven't kept up with today's multi-connected marketing/technology space. It was missing major gaps.

Overall: It helped me manage multiple people and multiple projects really well. It just doesn't have all the features I need for larger projects.

Pros: Communication is all in one place, you can assign tasks to specific people and send reminders. You can attach documents for various tasks/threads. It's simple to use and for those who are not too tech savy/don't want to spend the time to really learn something, it's pretty straight forward. Quick to learn.

Cons: If you have a more sophisticated operation or want more advanced templates/features, another tool may be for you. Basecamps beauty is in its simplicity, but if you need something complex, or to really stream a complex project, you may want to get a more advanced software. If you don't have a basecamp account you can not see all the threads, although you can be emailed tasks.

Overall: It's a simple to use software, that's easy to learn, and helps with organization collaboration. It's a good product for those who have a simple project, or one-off project/event to organize, although I wouldn't use it as an on-going business collaboration tool.

Pros: We find the ability to set up multiple projects with multiple different users very beneficial. We utilized it to upload important documents and specific updates which correlate to each upload. We have found that the web-based access is excellent because we have users in several different locations. We can have virtual meetings and everyone can access their project in Basecamp simultaneously.

Cons: Occasionally, it is difficult to find information. The running list of updates can sometimes be hard to navigate through when searching for a specific update or download.

Overall: We love the cloud-based access for multiple users in different locations. We also really love the fact that we can upload all of our project related files for each project.

Pros: Basecamp allows us to provide and receive real-time feedback on complex projects preventing confusion. We have has problems with 'crossed-wires' and non-specific feedback in the past which Basecamp has all but eliminated. We use it largely to share feedback with external web developers and to receive feedback from our clients. The real-time nature of the system and the simplicity of the mechanism are brilliant. We have sent clients or suppliers to use Basecamp without much instruction and never had a problem with how they use it. This shows the simple, intuitive nature of Basecamp.

Cons: I think the biggest drawback to Basecamp is the price. We don't deal with the quantity of projects that would justify pcm to use the system. However, I am aware of colleagues and peers who do deal with a higher volume of projects and swear by the system.

Makes life easy. Now I I'm one click away to a one drop stop. Works good for our oparation.

Pros: Easy to set up and get moving quickly for the team; simple work flow with quick value. Gives a central repository for communication and storage of project assets. Administration is straight forward. Easy set up for daily reminders for scrum notes etc is very valuable.

Cons: The interface is almost cartoon-ish; it doesn't have a feel of a professional product, despite the powerful functionality. Lack of markdown and other open source formatting tools really impact the usefulness of the documentation, the in-app formatting tools are sub-par, making it difficult to format documents for printing etc and sharing with clients. Removal of the ability to delete comments in a recent update make it difficult to keep long-running discussions relevant.

Pros: Before we started using Basecamp, we used several tools, but none left us totally satisfied. Some of these tools were very powerful, too versatile in fact in relation to the utilization they had. The value for money of these tools did not correspond to a small company like ours. There were also many program options that were not used. We tested the tool and were seduced immediately.

Cons: Basecamp has fewer options than other tools, but the fact is that it is fast and very simple to use.

New features come out all the time. Great customer support. Cool company culture that seems to make its way into the software, somehow :)

Cons: No way to create repeating tasks. Would also love more GTD integration (I like tagging my tasks with a "context" (i.e. a location or tool or person), so I can quickly find all the phone calls I need to make, for example, across all projects/teams.

Was easy to add tasks and deadlines and review progress line by line. Collaboration features were also amazing

Pros: I like the fact that when there is a project currently in the works and there are multiple people needed to do their part in order for it to move along, once each person complete their "task" it emails the group letting them know.

Cons: I couldn't find a way to "remind" a certain individual that we are waiting on their contribution. Something like a quick email to the particular person so that the whole team could see that it is being addressed.

Pros: This software was fast and easy to setup. We spent less than 10 minutes getting our initial configuration for our team and then used it without adjustment for the next year. Just follow the prompts and answer the questions.

Cons: There isn't much to complain about. The interface is a responsive interface and works easily on just about any device. The only way you won't like using it is if you need to be able to program macros or some such advanced use. For everything else it is fine.

Pros: At my past employer we pushed Basecamp to the limit. Every design and marketing project was logged through the calendar and tracked through completion. We submitted our requests, uploaded copy for approval and requested what we needed for end usage...printed copies, electronic files, color or b/w and completion date needed. Any questions related to a project were communicated through Basecamp. Art proofs and rewrites were also distributed this way. It was a complicated process but enabled our Marketing Communications and Design Areas to prioritize and work efficiently.

The board for the state association I belonged to would share massively sized documents and reports for review before meetings. And, since we were located all across the state, it saved on time and expense to print and ship. Very efficient way to communicate to a large group to for project management. And, since I already had a login for my employer, I could access both my work and volunteer work through the same site. I loved it.

Cons: I cannot think of any. The only cons related to both of my usages were other users...not inviting the right people to projects, delaying projects, sending out updates too close to deadlines, etc.

Overall: It was a great way to electronically share large document and art files related to projects and make sure the right people were included to approval to get things done.

Pros: It's simple to learn and teach. It's easy for everyone to use regardless of their technological skills.

Cons: Basecamp doesn't allow to custom sort projects; this becomes an issue when there are an abundance of projects happening (I have 62 live projects now). The pinning feature is okay, but you can't sort the pin'd projects. Additionally, it's impossible to "flag" something to come back to (if you don't address it immediately, it disappears into the previous notifications) and campfires are merely organized alphabetical vs most recent. Finally, I'd prefer, in addition to the listed calendar view, a real-time calendar view to see dates/months/weeks.

Overall: It's easy to coordinate and communicate with people in other areas. Additionally, the app on the phone makes it easy to note what's an immediate need vs what can be dealt with later.

Pros: Simplicity and flow, built more on written communications than visual. I used it to keep project management organized for clients, showing clear goals, metrics, and content all in one place.

Cons: Few of my clients, or referrals, ended up using it. I think it's because it appeals to a specific type of user, one who is good at writing and organizing which many clients are not. They would get lost in all the detail (more a critique of them than Basecamp), still Basecamp tended to get them lost, or not wanting to use it again, and asking me to email everything.

Overall: Easy to set up and easy to use for the project manager; fairly intuitive with a limited feature group, so it fits for smaller ventures.

Pros: Easy to learn and use without any instruction. Reliable. Clear user interface that makes it easy to follow different conversations on different topics.

Cons: I've not seen much beyond use as a collaborative communication/email platform. Since I get all of the Basecamp posts in email as well, I wonder why I couldn't just view those by thread to replicate what Basecamp is doing. I'm not sure what the value is exactly beyond being a way to organize email threads. Maybe it's because my organization hasn't set up other features? I also know when I looked at Basecamp for another company, it was very expensive.

Overall: Makes it easier to follow conversation/discussion threads than just regular email.

Pros: Basecamp provides a means for communication, task assignments, status updates, document sharing, and time-line tracking and updating. These are some great features especially when working on implementing new software or a remote team.

Cons: I found the user interface to be more difficult to navigate than I would have expected from a software with so many capabilities. It was difficult to retrieve documents and, in the end, I used it as little as possible. That said, my experience with this software has been limited to two specific implementations with Intacct implementation specialists and it got the job done. So, definitely still check it out as it has many capabilities but carefully consider whether it will be a great time saver or a hardly-used annoyance within your organization.

Pros: Ease of use is exceptional. Literally, anyone can use this, even the most technology challenged. It is very quick to set up and get going, not at all complicated.

Cons: Difficult to communicate with team members flow is not great here. Also it's annoying to have to get 3rd party app to use this completely. Just not functional for big outfits.

Pros: The search feature is incredible. I am a huge fan of the efficiency of google's smart search algorithms and this search feature allows me to safe the one thing i value most: time.

Cons: The completed task lists at the bottom of each page is very VERY intrusive over time. It takes up too much space for past date tasks of which most are irrelevant.

Pros: Very easy notifications to see progress on programs and easily login to see stages. It makes it easy and seamless to collaborate with a team and see the progress moving forward.

Pros: You can work from your email.
Every day, Basecamp sends you a Daily Recap email, letting you know about the status and updates made to your projects and tasks. If you think of another task that needs to be added, you can create it simply by writing it up in an email and sending it to Basecamp. It will then appear in the system for everyone to see. Similarly, you can provide progress updates on a task that you are working on. Basecamp also lets you contribute to discussions through your email and notify others of the discussion topic so that they can respond quickly, even if not logged in.

Cons: You cant customize layout.

Difficult to track time
Basecamp has no time management tools, which, although unfortunate, pales in comparison to their missing Gantt timeline charts. These charts are extremely useful for scheduling purposes, and their omission is likely going to be a problem for some people. If you have a lot of projects and a rather tight schedule, Basecamp probably isn't the solution for you.

No way to analyze data
Basecamp does not provide any reporting tools, which could make analyzing your data and making informed decisions about projects a bit difficult. However, if you are just looking for a software to help you keep your tasks organized and and on track, Basecamp would make a good choice.

Experience was pretty good, overall.

Pros: Straight forward to use and simple. Not much gets in your way. The editor is very simple, but rarely gets in your way and is functional enough.

Cons: The primary problem I have with Basecamp is that it's definitely aimed towards the "soft" management of a project - that is, getting "things" done. If you're used to something such as Github Issues, JIRA, etc, you'll quickly bump into a lot of limitations when trying to specifically manage a software development with bug tracking and milestones.

There are also some quirks around navigating through task lists by project - sometimes I end up with a breadcrumb trail nested much further than it needs to be.

Pros: Our team uses Basecamp for project and task management. Having this information available on the go is extremely helpful. I use Basecamp Kindle Edition to track the status of projects, manage my to-do list and provide feedback. My computer is still the primary tool for entering and managing content, but having that information available on my Kindle is great for meetings and staying productive when I'm away from my desk.

Cons: I was happy when I found the app on app store but actually navigation inside isn't convenient as menus on home page aren't displayed well on amazon fire phone ...

Pros: I really like how everything is very organized and allows the team to communicate within the software, rather than searching for emails about a particular project, etc.

Pros: Basecamp is an easy to use project management tool and communication platform. It's so easy to use pretty much anyone besides maybe your grandma could jump in there and start posting in different channels with different teams. We use it to communicate with our different agencies and contractors. We have threads archived with each one of them based on project and even have weekly update threads. It's a great way to keep track of what's going on quickly and easily.

Cons: The interface looks a bit dated. It's 2017 so they need to make it look more modern but other than that I don't have any complaints.

Overall: Basecamp gave us better communication with our vendors and contractors. It helps us communicate quickly and easily when we have multiple projects running simultaneously with different groups. You can customize it where users can only edit comments for 5-10 minutes after posting so they can't go back and edit what they said after the fact. Whenever you wonder a vendor said 3 months ago you can reference it easily. Basecamp is an valuable tool for SMB's and Enterprises alike.

Cons: I wish we had the ability to create dependency tasks like a new task is created when one is completed and a date is automatically set a certain number of days out and assigned to someone. Just wish we had more ability to create those types of things. Other than that, no cons to this software.

Pros: Basecamp is super easy to get started and makes project management simple. The intuitive nature makes it a low barrier of entry for anybody on the team to adopt from those that are tech savvy to not. Graphics are also nice and easy to program.
