Comments: We've been using Toast for more than a year now, and it is much more suited to our needs than our previous POS. The remote access and real-time reporting were two features that we deemed necessities when POS shopping. While we didn't find all of the features we wanted initially, Toast was very receptive to our feedback and took our suggestions/questions into consideration and incorporated some of those into software updates. We are overall satisfied with this POS as well as their customer service and support.

Pros: I really like the ease of use behind the software. There is still opportunities to expand the functionality, but overall it is great. They are constantly pushing updates, we have had 4 since we started using the system.

Cons: The "versioning" of the menus is a bit of a task and naming "flow" is flawed. It has been since we started using the product 6 months ago. They advised they are aware of the issue, but it still hasn't been resolved.

Overall: I have worked with both Aloha & Micros over the length of my career. When we contemplating switching to Toast, I was on a mission to prove it wouldn't work in a full service restaurant. I was wrong. I fell in love with the ease of use behind the system and the overall functionality of it. The only struggle I have had to date is with the support. We use their Master Menu Management functions and most of the tech's that answer the calls are not able to answer those questions and have to refer my questions, up the chain. Can take days sometimes to get a response.

Pros: user- friendly, simple, customizable, intuitive, fast.

Cons: Android's operating system took some getting used to, but once you get the hang of it then it's a cakewalk.

Overall: Toast can be whatever you want out of a POS system- you can customize all settings to fit your needs or if you want something you don't have to be too involved in and you want to keep it simple, Toast can do that too. They are always introducing new features and ways to make your life easier- and if you think of something they haven't added yet, you can request it and it will be added if other users and restaurants like the idea too. Hardware and software are integrated well and easy to use, and if there's ever a problem then 24/7 support (not robots, real Toast employees!) is only a phone call or email away.

Recommendations to other buyers: The automatic updates are wonderful as you never end up with outdated software shortly after buying it. Just like updating an app on your phone, it's super easy and is usually full of new features to check out and use to make your life easier.

Comments: This is an up and coming startup that is doing it right. We have used the system now for almost a year and having the power of real time reporting and remote access has been huge for us. Their are some challenges whenever dealign with a startup in terms of understanding that development of a new products and features take time. Overall we have been very impressed with Toast ability to improve and adapt, as well the way they listen to their community about feature changes that make real improvements.

Comments: We have has some bad wiring and really bad connectivity issues. This has led to CC processing problems. Check have gone missing and would show up a few days later. The tablets would go off and come back online all the time. It seems to be a system with a bunch of good ideas that work for small places. I am not sure about the scalability of the platform at this time. I think you will get there soon.

Pros: Easy and simple to use

Overall: Toast is a modern foward thinking pos system. The toast team has been with me every step from the very beginning. There was and is lots of training available innitially and continually. The software it self is very userfriendly.

Comments: When I took over as manager of the restaurant we had a PoS system called Breadcrumb, and it was absolutely awful. Since bringing Toast in, my life has been so much easier! It's so user friendly and on the management side, its a dream. I highly recommend this system for anyone looking to switch

Pros: its versatility and amount of tech features are out of this world.

Cons: we didn't find out about it sooner!

Overall: I must say that if there is something out there that is needed in the hospitality business that Toast doesn't offer, than I don't even want to know about it. We have been delighted every step of the way of our Toast journey. The sales staff, project manager, menu engineer, site engineer, support staff have all greatly exceeded my expectations. Toast is a must have system!

Recommendations to other buyers: if you have seen the demonstration, and worked out a quote with your sales representative, I advise you to sign it!

Pros: Easy to add, change or delete items. Great for getting real time sales reports as well as items sold in real time. Always updating as more users offer feedback.

Cons: Sometimes a little slow.

Overall: My restaurant had a Micros POS system for over 12 years. When we expanded and renovated, we had to expand our system. Micros was too expensive and we began to look for alternatives. We chose Toast after looking at many options and it was a great choice. Restaurant specific so they understand what restaurants need. Very intuitive and with all information in the cloud, easy to change items, prices anytime and get real time reports. Great support, too. Highly recommended.

Cons: It does take a while to reach someone in customer service.

Pros: Easy of use and great Tech support.

Cons: Rewards program to recognize phone numbers and names when assigning support.
Tech support need to assign ticket numbers so it easy for you to talk to the same Tech person.

Overall: Great system that the company is constantly improving. Make keeping track of business and easy. This system has a reporting system that let's you see from anywhere how business is performing. The online menu is a feature all customers will love with a layout that is mobile friendly. The rewards program needs a little work yet with how points cannot be assigned, but is worth the investment. Overall a great system to have.

Pros: Ease of back end work making menus...reporting etc .

Cons: Not many cons that I can think of...have to reset register tablet fairly often due to unresponsive touch screen.

Overall: Fantastic customer service. Easy to learn if you have prior computer and POS experience. Reliable and efficient

Recommendations to other buyers: More beginning training...I was able to understand the system fairly quickly but I have an IT background. I know of another business who implemented toast and were very frustrated with the lack of training as far as making the menu. My advice would be to not focus so much on attempting to make the "starter menu" for the client but rather use the time to show them how to make their own menu from scratch. There are different little quirks about how every restaurant prices their menu, and while toast does extremely well in allowing for those, where they are lacking is making the customer comfortable in making those changes.

Pros: Your able to do anything you really want. With 5 stores I love the fact that when I make a change on one restaurant it make the exact same change on the other 4. Offline Mode is huge considering what we had before. 24/7 Technical Support is nice although at times they just tell you they do not know the answer and will call you back but 9/10 they never do call back.

Cons: Technical Support is so-so. Like I said, sometimes they don;t know the answer to a question and will tell you theyll call back but do not. Some features I like are not available yet but they are constantly doing updates so Im sure thatll change.

Overall: Toast has been a great overall experience thus far for my 5 restaurants. The functionality is amazing as well as the back end . All of employees hands down prefer this software over what we use to have. Offline Mode is amazing!! No more phone calls because the internet went down

Recommendations to other buyers: Make sure to train your staff right after you sign the contract. Hold training meetings. Print out all of their useful tutorials.

Pros: Competitive processing rate, excellent customization, great integrated online ordering, cloud-based reporting so I can take care of all kinds of tasks from anywhere I have internet, and the list goes on.

Cons: I wish the monthly fee were a bit less.

Overall: I moved our restaurant from Aldelo to Toast, and I¿ve found it to be a Very Good Decision. Streets ahead of the competition.

Recommendations to other buyers: I¿ve recommended it to many restaurants and will continue to!

Pros: Truth is I like everything about Toast. Havent had a bad situation yet.

Cons: Would really love to have tables on dinning screen say what server has what table

Overall: Since we opened Toast is one of the best things I did. Not only easy to use but easy to train employees on. One of my better choices I have made here at PUB56.

Recommendations to other buyers: Get it. Its new and modern with table side ordering and cashing out.

Comments: We have been live with Toast for a week now and it has been great! The initial go live day was quite seamless and the training our staff received prior to go live date set us up for success. We have been able to manage our systems easily on our own for the most part. When we do call the support line or email, they are fast, friendly and efficient. Overall, very pleased with our choice!

We use toast at 4 of our locations.

Comments: As an owner that's trying to spend less time in the business this software allows me to do that. The highlights for me are the ease of accessing the reporting, how intuitive the program is for our employees, our tips have doubled, and having online ordering! The expediting screen in the kitchen has really cut down on our mistakes and ticket times. Everyone we've worked with from the initial sales call, through the training, and customer service has been spot on. You guys are running a great business and I know you guys will continue to rapidly grow.

Comments: Thank you Toast for helping to streamline the process by which we order food and beverage and provide accurate , easy to use handheld ordering tablets and back of the house programming features and reports.

We no longer need to walk away from a table with a customers credit card in hand, great for improving customer security. Additionally, most customers sign the tablet and opt out of receiving a paper receipt, saving hundreds of pounds of paper anually and helping to be a greener establishment.

Additionally since orders and entered right at the table, the number of errors in ordering is dramatically reduced, again helping us improve overall customer satisfaction.

Lastly, Toast has repeatedy demonstrated superior customer service by helping adjust our system requirements to meet the needs of the high volume nightclub business that supplements our dining and banquet sales.

Comments: Software is not nearly as innovative as they claim. Yes they use a cloud but when toast is having issues and their whole cloud goes down you cannot do much. None of your tablets and terminals will talk to each other, you lose tabs and you cannot process credit cards. This has happened at peak times for us and is a huge inconvenience.
Another big draw back is that if you own a bar/restaurant like us this isn't a system that's ahead of the curve. You are not able to accurately track your bartenders indivual sales. You also don't have the ability to precisely see when/what exact time sales are being made. It's very hard to notice this until you actually get the system at your place. I pointed this out to several people at Toast. Most of them were unaware this was the case. They told me it would be dealt with and then two months later said it wouldn't be because Aloha didn't have it as a feature, (which I found out later they do) and also because they felt not enough customers were requesting these features.
One more thing is that they overcharged us for the startup equipment and debited $500 more than they should've. They eventually correct things but had I not spoken up they never would've.

Easy to use POS that is full featured.

Comments: This is the first system I have seen on the market that makes ordering and paying at the table a reality. Our servers can spend more time with our customers and improve turn times by sending orders to the kitchen as the customer is ordering. We have seen turn times on our busiest nights improve 15% - serving more customers on a Friday night has been fantastic!

Comments: We¿ve completely customized Toast to our business. Everyone from the floor to the office loves it. Our staff loves it. It makes their job a lot easier. Taking orders and payments at the table is easy. Toast¿s online ordering is perfect. I can look at sales on our phone and make menu changes from my couch at home.

We¿re able to make our customer¿s lives more simple with Toast. I once had a customer ask for a receipt from a transaction she made 30 days ago. I was able to find and email it to her in less than 3 minutes.

Toast¿s support team is willing to bend over backwards for us. Our old POS charged us for support and reporting. With Toast, it¿s free.

Comments: Toast is very easy to access remotely. I have better control over my sales and my employees. I am able to better quantify discounts and account for missed cash. I¿ve never before been able to do that with my diner. Even our end of night tie-out is now easy.

Comments: Before Toast, my POS was old and full of glitches. Toast is extremely easy to use. From day one, it felt familiar. New tech can be scary but we felt comfortable with Toast right away. I access reports on my phone every day, wherever I am. I¿m able to hold my staff accountable no matter where I am. I could never do that before.

We no longer have a line of servers standing waiting to input orders at a terminal and overwhelming our kitchen. My staff loves running credit cards right from the table.
