Comments: Cautionary Truth: I have been using Fleetmatics for about 3 months and have found the calendar view to be inadequate. The job ticket does not include the phone number. The sales person sold me on a lot of 'can do's' that have not materialized. One example, their website says they integrate with Xero. It turns out it is only Xero in Australia. Another is they took my form and had to change it for integration .. which was found after the fact. Now, I want to cancel and am 'locked' in for 12 months. $250 / month. The 'Scheduler' feature is a joke. I get Long/Lat on a customer but not his phone number on the same tab. Seems as if no user testing was performed.

Comments: I will be honest with this review and will not exaggerate, even though the customer service frustrates me and they will not call me back after several attempts to resolve an issue. I've used Fleetmatics for about 6 months and their program works well, however, the way the salesperson sold me on the program he conned me into a 12 month contract, which they claim is standard.

I am a business owner and I do not sign contacts with businesses I've never tested out. When I first began talking to a Fleetmatics representative, May 2015, the program seemed good and it was reasonably priced. I asked either Duane Stallworth or Mathew Hoffman about the pay structure, and they said they typically have 12 month contracts. I was unsure of how well this program would benefit our small company and said I couldn't sign a 12 month contract, as I could not afford to be locked into something that was not benefiting our company as well as they said it would.

Because I would not sign up under a contract, Mathew assured me that I could cancel my service at any time. In June, I gave my office manager, Mark, permission to sign up with Fleetmatics, assuming what I discussed with Mathew was what I was signing up for. We used Fleetmatics for the next 6 months and although it worked well, I was not happy with it and decided to cancel my service.

The customer service rep I was speaking to on the phone told me I could not cancel my service for another 6 months. And I assured her that I did not sign a 12 month contract. I found the paperwork that my office manager signed (his name is on it) and realized that Mathew changed our "contract" without my permission and had my office manager sign something I had not approved. He snuck one past me and now the customer service reps keep telling me they will look into it and then don't call me back. I havn't used Fleetmatics since December 2015, and they keep drawing money out of my bank account. I wish I could do business with a hand-shake, but unfortunately, Fleetmatics has shareholders it needs to please. I feel deceived.

Comments: Cons: Their detail reports are highly inaccurate when determining drive time. They know this, but fail to do anything about it. By far the worst customer service I have ever seen with a company. They do not listen to their customers and always have excuses - but no solutions. I would highly recommend not even wasting your time with this company if accurate reporting is what you are in need of.

Overall: Fleetmatics is a money making software, I have saved over 10K dollars in the last year on fuel alone. Tracking is not about being big brother, it's about job security for all in this economy.

Pros: Risk of theft by hirer erradicated.
Ability to monitor vehicle location with a view to return times. Customers who are awaiting a vehicle can be kept informed of how long their wait will be.
Accurate vehicle usage billing easily obtained by various report methods.
Fuel usage discrepancies easily resolved by route replay.
Easy vehicle location identification in the event of breakdown.
Fleet maintenance simplified.
Prevention of unauthorised overseas travel.
Easy recovery of vehicles from overdue customers.

Cons: There is no down side to having the fleetmatics system on your fleet. Yes as in life everything costs but we have saved probably in excess of ¿¿20,000 already in theft prevention alone. With the added facilities for monitoring time at idle and service requirements this saving is sure to rise.

Overall: I would strongly recommend Fleetmatics to any company whether running single or multiple vehicles. An easy to use yet extremely intelligent system, Fleetmatics will instantly give you peace of mind and will over time save you money.

Pros: The Fleetmatics units are doing a great job for us. The units update every minute allowing dispatch to know where the units are at all times. For maintenance we have updated miles every day. I cannot ask for any more information than we are now getting.

Pros: We looked into several companies for a GPS tracking system, but found from the start that Fleetmatics has the most affordable, user friendly system out there. The demo they provided orginally really got our attention. We have saved tens of thousands of dollars in using this system for coordination of scheduling and in payroll. We also saved hundreds of thousands of dollars when our truck was stolen along with all of the equipment in it. With our live fleet tracker, we relayed to the police exactly where the truck was going and they were able to stop and arrest the thief. We love the system, their customer service and would never even consider changing.

Cons: We have not found anything wrong with this system.

Overall: Highly recommend for ANY company and have given them numerous referrals.

Pros: user friendly, helps to identify where our drivers are. it's the first thing i open up on the computer every morning. also helps that it can be used from another location (home on the weekend). also many vital reports, from verifying time cards to service alerts. really helps rescue drivers when lost, especially with the new upgrades, where you can see satelite images of the area they are in. just yesterday we helped out agian with the use of this tool.

Cons: hate that is a 4 year committment, but don't know what i'd do without it. that's the thing about a product/service it sells itself and shouldn't need to have a 4 year commit. my committment is coming up soon, now i have to decide whether to remain with fleetmatics or shop around. i'm defenitely sold on the concept, performance and ease of use.

the one thing i really dislike is the property tax that the third party vendor attaches to these units. i don't know if it happens in any other state, but in the state of michigan equipment that is in a vehicle is not subject to property taxes. i know this as we used to run with radios in the vehicles to dispatch our drivers. this was never part of a property tax bill, even though those units ran around 1K each.

Overall: i love this product, the fact that it is consistantly upgraded and tweaked. i really never have taken advantage of any training because it is so easy to use, even a dummy like me can utilize it, and my other managers get the reports they need.
