Cloud-based and on-premise product design software designed to help small to large size businesses design, analyze and develop new products via 3D modeling, simulation, reverse engineering and more.
Cloud-based and on-premise programming, modeling and simulation platform that enables users to analyze data, create algorithms, build models and run deployed models.
The features in Catia are amazing, it is a really powerful simulation software, great for 3D modelling and fairly complicated engineering analysis including fluid flow, stress.
If you are new user of it you will face some troubles in finding out different options.
My experience with CATIA is fantastic. This CAD software is great for CAD designers and also Engineers to check and perform simulation/analysis.
It was working slowly and i had problems about opening second tab.
It is great for designing complex parts and assembly. This is the reason of why Catia is most popular 3D program in Aviation and Automotive industries which have prettly complex part and assemblies.
It looks arachaic and you have to tell what to do the whole time. There’s is no automated processes (auto reference, ...).
CATIA is a very powerful, informative and amazing software in terms of features, functionality, designing and product development.
My experience with CATIA was a whole journey, the beginning was hard and confusing, but after passing the learning curve it becomes way clearer.
With its all the functionality (and with appropriate training) it was the perfect tool for the task.
When you get the error, its very hard for me to find the mistakes I have done.
Another very good point about MATLAB is its ability to manipulate data and generate interactive visualizations, which have helped me to communicate results effectively.
If I hadn't had the training I received during my undergrad I would have been completely lost.
It's a powerful language with an intuitive interface, but it is best for matrix operations, decomposition, optimization tools, linear algebra, and the like.
The code is a bit finicky sometimes, and for new users it can be difficult to understand why you are getting error messages on your code.
The were a robust community file exchange that was amazing for finding code for specific tasks. Overall it was very easy to debug and learn thanks to the amount of great resources for it.
The only bad thing I find is that the it requires lots of space in our computer system and makes it slow, freeze up system if RAM is less than 4GB.
Joe: My name's Joe, I'm an engineering specialist in the aerospace industry, and I would rate CATIA a five out of five. In the past I've used Pro/Engineer and SOLIDWORKS before switching to CATIA. I liked the user interface of CATIA better than the previous products. We chose CATIA because of its widespread use in the aerospace industry, it's ease of use for inexperienced users, and it's powerful surface modeling. Onboarding CATIA is really a seamless process. The IT infrastructure is easy to get set up, and there's so much online training available for free. Getting users up to speed is a quick process. For those considering CATIA, I would recommend that in addition to considering the cost, think about what your end users use, what your colleagues use, what maybe your machine shop uses. CATIA is so widespread that while it is expensive, there could be tremendous savings and efficiencies by using it since everyone else does.
Joshua: My name is Joshua, and I work with [inaudible 00:00:03]. I'm rating Matlab five out of five. I started using Matlab where we needed to create some statistical models. So, I would recommend you to use Matlab if you ever have any statistical model you want to do, and it's pretty much easier to deploy and to use. My best part of Matlab, its deployment on virtualization. So, you could have your Matlab server deploy in Agile, deploy in AWS, or any other cloud service, and you can have your VDIs, which means you can have your Matlab being replicated on all your virtualizations with one single license, which makes it a lot of sense. Yeah. One of the bottlenecks around Matlab is when you try to renew your license, it could take you forever, because every installation for every update is always different. So, you might need to contact Matlab customer care to help you, guide you in renewing your license and uploading and installing the new license, because it's obviously so different. That is the only problem, the only issue I have with Matlab.
