PRTG Enterprise Monitor is suited for large monitoring setups and IT infrastructures. It's ideal for distributed or heavily segmented environments. It's highly scalable for future expansions.
The support offered on any issue it utterly astounding. They are so involved in the good of the company at one point the president of the company actually came out to train our team.
Some functions can be a little confusing from time to time. Some diagrams with a lot of objects can slow down the client a bit.
What I like most is visualization, reporting and the ability to design my own patterns.
No 'UNDELETE' function, as of yet in the application.
I like the grid option in addition to custom backgrounds to keep diagrams tidy. Easy routing of cables on a floor plan using quick bend point shortcuts.
Then worry about physical or logical connections last, as it will be an ongoing task depending on how large your network is, and how detailed you want to get with managing physical links.
Exceptional from the support team, to ease of use, to the reporting availability. It checkmarks everything I need, to see what is happening at the physical layer in our data center.
I don't like the way of designing and mapping expansion cards in devices.

Having to license and manage a windows server just for PRTG is a bummer.
The ease of setting up and the flexibility that the system has. The range of tools PRTG offers is amazing for its price.
I run a single server with close to 10,000 sensors, which is considered the maximum for a single server and I see performance problems from time to time because I run it at red line.

Too hard to read sometimes about notification.
The support and documentation of the solution is very good. It even allows you to integrate with other solutions and/or create your own sensors.
Its hard to find something, set up the notification hierarchy, small improvmnet in notification email looks.
