Darren B
Attorney
5.0

Darren B.: I'm Darren. I'm a litigation attorney in Houston, Texas, and I give NextPoint a five out of five. Ultimately, before choosing NextPoint, I looked at a variety of other eDiscovery programs. The two that stand out to me are Logikcull and Relativity. Ultimately the problem with both of those programs and the others I looked at are that they charge a per gigabyte hosting fee, which can add up very, very quickly. The reason we went with NextPoint is mainly because of its pricing plan, which differs from the other eDiscovery products out there. NextPoint charges a flat fee for unlimited gigabytes, which is really a great pricing model, especially for small firms that might deal with large volumes of eDiscovery, like we do. The other thing I really like about NextPoint is it's ease of use. Some programs like Relativity can be a bit complicated for a small firm without a dedicated eDiscovery staff to use. NextPoint is very user-friendly and has a bit of a learning curve, but it's very easy for an attorney in a small firm to implement himself without relying on any eDiscovery staff. Onboarding with NextPoint was actually pretty simple. They have a dedicated customer service staff that get you up to speed on the features of the program. One of the things that is very nice about NextPoint too, is that aside from its live support staff, they do have a very comprehensive help desk that is self-serve so you can find helpful articles and videos and webinars to walk you through every step that you need to do to use NextPoint. The only bit of learning curve there was, was importing ranged import, load files or productions, which can be a little complicated at first, but after you do a few, especially with NextPoint's online help guide, it's really not that bad. And that's about it. Ultimately, for those that are thinking about eDiscovery programs, I would recommend thinking mainly about how much you're going to use that program and what size of productions you're going to be dealing with in your firm, because some programs might make more sense than others simply because of the pricing program. The end of the day, most eDiscovery programs have the same features. They're mostly uniform in that, and where they differ is one, in the pricing, and two, in the ease of use for a regular attorney, not a dedicated eDiscovery staff. If you're going to be using the program mostly for trial prep and not for large-scale document production, then it might make more sense to go with another program that uses a per gigabyte hosting fee. But if you're going to be like me and using a program to manage large discovery projects, then I think absolutely, NextPoint is the program to choose. And also if you're like me, where you work in a very small firm, you have no dedicated eDiscovery staff, then I would certainly recommend NextPoint from the point of view that it is very, very simple, comparatively speaking, to implement within a small firm.

Josh S
Senior Database Consultant
5.0

Joseph S.: Hi, my name's Josh. I'm a senior database consultant. I work for the Data Collaborative. I also have an offshoot, teachquickbase.com. And I've been doing Quickbase for 20-plus years. And I give it a five out of five. We're a consulting agency. We work with hundreds of clients. We solve everything from workflow management to quality control to operations, financial, CRM. It's just there's a lot of different things that we have to solve for customers. The fact that it can solve just about anything. And also that it's a lot easier to use than a full stack situation where you got to have an FTP client and you got to have database tools and you got to have an ID. This is all in a web browser, and it is something that people who are in the client company, not on the tech team, can actually learn to use. And because they're either into quality control team or they're in the finance team or admin, they can learn how to use it. And that's probably the biggest value, is actually having somebody who's in a role of the active running of the company, designing Quickbase, and working with me to help perfect the tools for their users. So the first thing I said about, it solves everything. You really can use Quickbase for anything. That is a hard thing for some people, when they open it up, they don't exactly know where to start because it's a blank slate. But for me, I mean, I've been doing this for 20 years and I just start a discussion with the client, "Okay, what are you trying to do?" And we just work on it and they eventually get the idea that they can do anything and that it's not that hard to start from ground zero and go up.
