I've been trying for 2 weeks and they just hang up on the wait line after 10 mins! I pay more than $100 per month and I am unable to even speak with someone. Pros Donor management system is good. You can maintain a database of all your donors and create household links. Cons APLOS prides in being the number #1 church accounting software. But it's donation (main revenue for a church) processing system is terrible. 1. To get the donations entered in the software and into the accounting, you need to do multiple steps which are not even linked to the bank integration system. 2. For the contribution statements, there is not too many options to filter. For example, you cannot generate a report on acknowledged/dismissed contribution statements. Why even have these fields if they are not useable? 3. You cannot save the email template so you have to type it over every time you want to email a contribution statement. It's been great. My board likes the reports, I like the ease of use. Pros Makes nonprofit accounting easier and more intuitive for people new to accounting in general and nonprofits in particular. Cons The report names don't always match what my accountant asks me for so I have to do some digging to figure out what the equivalent report in Aplos is. Four years ago I relocated and was asked to take over the treasures position for a local foundation. The foundation was using a software which was not designed for the services it provided, so I brought in Aplos. It has worked very well for the foundation. Pros We use Aplos for our foundations accounting and bookkeeping and it works very well for us. It is easy to navigate and provides all the accounting reporting we need. For the money you really cannot beat Aplos. Cons I cannot think of anything I do not like about Aplos. I have incorporated it to two organizations I am involved with. The ones I have been in contact with have always been helpful and accommodating. Pros This is easy to use. It has a lot of features available for use, and the screen is not cluttered with a lot of unnecessary items. Cons While a lot of features are good for larger companies or churches, a lot of small churches may not use all of them. I wish they had smaller packages available for churches that does not need all of them. Great idea, but obviously not designed by anyone that has actually done donor management. The integration between the donor database and the accounting GL is pretty good. For a low priced option, I would love to recommend this, but the customer support is horrible. Cons Lack of competent customer support. When you as the user know more than the person in "support", you end up spending alot of time training them before they will believe you that there is a problem. That is a huge waste of my time. They also have reports on line that are yielding incorrect data for our users, and they won't hide those reports pending resolution. In one word, arrogant - not helpful. Raising prices 300% in a year. We found another solution with equal service at significantly lower cost. Pros We started on Aplos for the accounting features. It was easy to setup and matched the way we did accounting at our church. It was easy to make entries, and record donations all in one place. Customer service was great. Cons Over time features were gradually removed or moved to higher and higher priced tiers. Budgets, have to pay more. Want more users pay more. More contacts pay more. They added more and more features that were of no use to our church and kept raising the cost.
