LastPass vs Okta: Which is a better fit?

Prior to LastPass, we were using just the standard Google Chrome password settings that save your password automatically. But that was not the most efficient way to be able to figure out which passwords were stored in your system and shared with other users. LastPass is the solution that we're working with because it makes it really easy to have shared and stored passwords for all different team members. And you can store different passwords that sync up with your browser. So anytime you visit that website, it automatically locks you in. You're also able to safely store credit card details, which is really helpful for business purposes. And in general, it just makes it easy to securely have all these different logins for all these different platforms in one shared space. So it's super easy. Helps us log into everything we're doing every day. Getting started with LastPass was really easy because all you have to do is obviously create an account, but then you can use a Google Chrome extension that allows you to log in to all of your websites at any time very easily. So it's an amazing extension that's associated with the LastPass platform. For anyone who's looking to get started with LastPass, I definitely recommend making sure all of your passwords and login, email addresses, et cetera, are already organized so that you can easily import them into LastPass. They make it really easy to import. And then once you're signed in, once you're able to log in routinely from there, it's a super easy setup process.

So we've tried a lot of two-factor authentication products, but Okta honestly just fit the bill. We've used built-in ones by Microsoft. We've used some third party, just honestly, plugins and things of that nature. But to be completely honest with you, we didn't really have a security solution that Okta didn't fix for us. We deployed Okta, and one of the biggest reasons that we deployed Okta is simply because I needed a method that my employees would be able to authenticate wherever they were. We're an entirely mobile workforce, and we definitely needed something that worked across anywhere as long as you had a cellular connection that you would be able to authenticate with our network and keep our resources safe. So Okta, being that it's in the cloud, works everywhere, and that's really important for my mobile workforce. I have technicians who are up and down the entire state, and honestly, we just don't have the ability to VPN back to the office to get any kind of resources without needing some kind of authentication. Okta saves me a lot of time and hassle, and it makes sure that my company is secure. So when we first were starting to deploy this software, Okta made it very, very easy. First of all, they assigned us a support professional to walk us through every step of the way. Secondly, it was remarkably easy to integrate with our existing active directory environment. And thirdly, they honestly helped us get all the redirects in place, get all the authentication in place, and they're still there helping us today whenever we have any kind of anomalous logins. So for anyone else who may be interested in deploying this product, let me just tell you, it is remarkably easy to deploy. And being the fact that it exponentially increases the security posture of your company, I cannot recommend one, two-factor authentication enough. If you don't have two-factor authentication deployed now, what are you doing? And two, Okta just makes it simple. It is honestly a pay for it, set it and forget it.
