I love Xero - Xero is a multifuctional site/app that has many features and abilities that are useful for individuals and small business which is what I use it for.
Unable to run a payment history by vendor for some reporting I needed to complete. Possible user error but, I was told functionality not available.
Features such as bank connections and invoice creation are great, while the dashboard offers very useful and great information.
Back to the bank feed -- Xero is unable to connect with a number of banks. In addition, the bank feed sometimes drops out transactions with no notice to the file owner or bookkeeper.
Xero is a good choice for businesses looking for comprehensive accounting software with a range of features and good customer support.
Lack of integration with Shopify for invoice/inventory management.
I love, love, love the app and cloud versions. I like that I can snap pictures of my receipts and chart them immediately so that my reconciliations go smoother.
1099 reports are too limited. Tracking categories are too limited.
The time is saves is wonderful. Once set up the information is automatically downloaded into QuickBooks.
If you computer does an update, CommerceSync doesn't know how to handle it and everything goes to crap.
I like that it's seamless and automatically syncs when it is working right. The price is reasonable.
I've had weeks of back and forth e-mails where no one will return my calls and they just respond with an email when I've specifically asked for a call to explain the problem.
The information for all sales are categorized and updated into QB without me having to do anything. This has literally saved me hours of time, daily.
And, they really don't understand your accounting software (i.e. quickbooks, etc) or your POS (square, stripe, etc.) and that's really a problem because they can't help you set it up properly.

Nigel: My name is Nigel. I'm the Managing Director of my own company, D13 Solutions. We are a consultant company using Xero, which I'm rating five out of five. Xero was recommended to us by our accountants. They had options for products like Sage and some other products as well. They showed us two or three of those products, and we chose Xero from that list. We chose Xero because Xero was the most usable of the products. So the interface was very simple, but it also suited the way we work. So inability to do what we needed to do in the shortest possible time, in the easiest way. Xero gave us the best options out of all of the things we looked at. So we switched to Xero from our previous package. That was really straightforward. But for everything we use it for, which is invoicing, quotes, purchase orders, it's all really good. It's really straightforward and simple to use. We use it in multiple currencies as well, and it supports that very well indeed. But we've integrated things like the company credit cards, so everybody's credit card is integrated into the system, so it really works nice and simple. So things like my month end when I'm doing all my reconciliations, those take a matter of a couple of hours, not a couple of days. Xero has been a game changer for us. It's made my life more simple. It's kept my costs down. This means I haven't got to go and find someone external to my bookkeeping because it's all simple and easy to use within the app. I would recommend anybody to try Xero. It may not be for everyone, but it's certainly worth trying. And with a free trial available, why would you not?
