My overall experience with M-Files is outstanding and I like more with their easy integration with other systems and flexibility in deployment.
Data Management System with Really Bad User Interface.
This application helps in all these functions and much more by its high quality features that are superb easy to handle as well.
It's not a user friendly program, there is no drag and drop option (currently) and it almost impossible to work with this software in a way that we work with windows.
Easy user intuitive interface that allows for dynamic and complex workflow processes. The ease of the install and how fast we were up and using it was amazing.
Typical for some IT-solutions: "almost anything can be done with M-Files. Takes away focus of what problem exactly is solved with M-files.

Their support has been wonderful as well. The iterative improvements that come our way are great, and continue to make a great software even better.
One problem with the electronic forms is that they are difficult to create and edit unless you are throughly trained and have a technical background.
I love almost everything about Etrieve, especially the ability to customize forms and workflows. SoftDocs Tech/Customer Support is amazing.
Users got used to the tree in DoceScan and were later disappointed that several "features" were not included in the tree. Custom sorting of tree levels is not possible.
Integration with ETHOS and the awesome support for it (from your developers) really helped. Being part of the beta-testing was great.
It makes it difficult for our office when trying to edit or create a form where we need to rely on IT or someone at Soft Docs for assistance.
I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Etrieve to make my office better for the students, as they are our #1 priority. Being able to speed processes up for them makes it all worth it.
That it can't do everything (yet). Etrieve is very adaptable; however, as is the case with any software, there are use cases for each institution that are difficult to translate.

With switching to M-files, we considered some other software. We looked at using SOLIDWORKS and their PDM system as well as just using Windows. We selected M-Files because we really liked the way you could input metadata and use that to organize all of your files and search in a very powerful way for very detailed things within a document. We came from a more complicated system before using M-Files, so switching over to it was really nice and a blessing. It made it really easy to transition to M-Files. If you're thinking about getting into M-Files, I would really take a look at all the powerful tools that come along with inputting the metadata for each document into M-Files. It really opens up a lot of capability, especially when trying to find a very old document that you don't remember a whole lot about.
