Epic serves hospitals, medical organizations, clinics, independent practices, academic centers, health providers, and specialty groups.
Kipu serves multi-provider enterprise addiction treatment, SUD, behavioral health, and eating disorder centers to unlock their potential with comprehensive EMR, CRM, and RCM software solutions.
The best feature, I think, is the depth of the "dot phrases," they cut your note taking time into a fraction. The customer support is wonderful, quick, helpful and efficient.
This can be confusing from a training and operations perspective (e.g. "I was told to do it differently," "My provider prefers it a different way").
There is also an inpatient version that my institution will be great for my institution when implement as there will be seamless uniformity between outpatient and inpatient.
Too many icons/tabs on the page, and it is difficult to navigate. Call center messages under In-Basket messages; very difficult to see who is writing what in a chronological order.
It is easy to use, once you get the appropriate training and practice. I like that is a great investigative tool to search for timelines in the past.
The user interface is confusing and redundant.
I also enjoy being able to review encounters for resulting purposes that will facilitate our company to make the best decision as to care for the patient.
It can be very overwhelming at times. Hard to grasp some of the functionalities and the different templates that epic has.
It’s easy to use, easy on the eyes, and navigation is seemless. As a super admin I love the access I have to update and create things we need and how easy it is to do.
The general counsel is a pompous jerk that does nothing to keep the company out of litigation. The rep is just as unprofessional as the rest of the bunch.
Robust product with lots of features. Customer support is superb and they do implement recommendations.
Now when printing out the face sheet for a file the insurance information cuts off and no longer on the first sheet. It makes it less convenient as opposed to when it was available on one page.
I like how easily accessible documentation is in Kipu also being able to have patients be able to complete documentation in real time and have the results immediately is wonderful.
There are times when I want to be able to enter medication data that Kipu is not set up to do, such as offer two options for a dose depending on pain scales or other factors.
I like the Golden thread as it helps to connect treatment plans and goals while helping the therapist to save time for the therapist. The SMART GOALS suggestions help to bring easy to treatment plans.
Built for the Basic Model of Substance Abuse Care...which doesn't work.
Euphrates N.: Hello, I'm Euphrates. I'm the patient service coordinator at PT Solutions/Virginia Hospital Center and I give Epic a 5. I'm a patient service coordinator and Epic provides good services for us because we check patients in and out. We verify their insurances. We can get their referrals from other hospitals through that system. What I like most about EpicCare is everything is in one system. You don't need another system. You only just need Epic. Epic does everything from scheduling to referrals, appointments. It's a one-stop shop. The only room that I see for improvement in Epic is a little faster. Other than that, it's fine.
Tammy E.: My name is Tammy. I am the Executive Director of Legends Treatment Center in Pittsburgh. We have about 200 people that work for Legends, all of the Legends put together. My rating for Kipu is five. We use Kipu for pretty much everything when it comes to our client base for our outpatient. We use Kipu for our notes. Billing is able to go in and check on our notes to see who has come, who hasn't. I go in and I do audit checks. I sign off on notes. We use Kipu a lot. Our inpatient, we can tell where a person is, what floor, what room, if there's an emergency. We use it to communicate back and forth between staff. Kipu is easy to use. When I started this position, I didn't really have anyone to train. I've used a lot of different EMR systems in my career, and Kipu is literally the absolute easiest EMR to use when it comes to using it for client base. There is no negative about Kipu. I like everything about it.
