The different view modes are excellent as is the ability to change the thumbnail captions easily. I also like that all the captions show up at the bottom of the thumbnail instead of having to toggle.
While that discovery was disappointing, it led us to Daminion, which has proven to be anything but disappointing.
Daminion is very easy to use and run. It sports a great GUI (derived from the best photo management tools like Lightroom and Media Pro) and has a complete and powerful set of functions.
The user interface feels a bit dated to me, and at first glance (without digging into the program) it can feel a bit intimidating when it comes to how things are laid out.
The customer care service is great and responsive: It offers a remote assistance service, directly into your workstation or server.
Daminion software regularly crashes. It's easy to restart the software but it's still unpleasant.
I am excited to get the most out of this digital asset management software.
It doesn't support uploading to my Flickr although they have Export SDK and probably I'll write a small Daminion addon that helps to upload to Flickr soon.
Our success manager was responsive and helpful. I believe they refined some of their support protocols based on our conversations.
The only problem I had in the beginning was navigation and figuring out how to use each tool for editing videos.
The ease of use and the quality of the recordings are by far my favorite features.
It is hard to set up a new sporadic recording and there is no option to have videocall at the same time because cameras are recording.
It can be used as a lecture capture system or a desktop recorder. There are more advanced features like quizzing, basic editing tools and the ability to insert external media like YouTube.
It could use a more modern look and feel. The software does give our end users some trouble - but not the service or website itself.
Panopto's ease of use combined with the rich feature set make it one of the best tools out there for large-scale recording capture and viewing.
This solved our problem that Zoom presented, which was that we couldn't as easily record.
