Powerful tools for analysing logs and extracting useful information. Variety of different reporting methods and a good quality log exporter.
Poor account management. Performance can be very bad for searches over large data sets or long timeframes.
You can search in complex or basic queries so it is good for both new and experienced users. Searching is powerful and fast and user data can be shared with the organization.
The queries can be difficult to compose sometimes.
We are handling logs of our several applications at the same time and making a map for common occurrences. This is good for analyzing where we need to improve.
Especially the costing of frequent/infrequent/contimuous tier. Integration is bit difficult , but our folks worked together to integrate sumologic for pur business needs.
The search time is pretty good, where it searches in huge dumps of data and return a good result set.
The API integration can be difficult to leverage the more advanced features, such as log monitoring.
Matt: Hi, I'm Matt. I'm a DevOps engineer. I give Sumo Logic a four out of five. For more reviews like this, click below. Before we were using Sumo Logic, we were using GCP Stackdriver, and it wasn't working because we weren't able to combine our other third party source, his logs, into Stackdriver. We also weren't able to get security threats from Stackdriver. We chose Sumo Logic because a lot of people on our team had past experience with Sumo Logic. The price was competitive, compared to the other competitors in the field. We've liked the query language and the onboarding experience was pretty solid. They had some knowledgeable people. Getting started with Sumo Logic, we had to add a helm chart to our GKE cluster. We added that to all prod clusters. That took a little bit of time, but it was pretty straightforward, and they'd give you the helm chart. We also had to categorize all of our sources in GCP, GitHub, and Google Admin, and then after everything was categorized, they could be fed into Sumo and then we could do log analysis. My advice for anyone getting Sumo Logic would be start by categorizing all your sources before anything goes into Sumo Logic, because it's much easier to categorize them on the way in than it would be to categorize them when everything's in Sumo Logic's JSON format. The other advice I would have is there's more competitors in the field. When I looked at Sumo Logic about two years ago, I know Datadog now has a seam that competes with Sumo Logic, so price-wise, I'm not sure if they're still the best option.
