Capterra’s researchers use a mix of verified reviews, independent research and objective methodologies to bring you selection and ranking information you can trust. While we may earn a referral fee when you visit a provider through our links or speak to an advisor, this has no influence on our research or methodology.
Capterra carefully verified over 2 million reviews to bring you authentic software and services experiences from real users. Our human moderators verify that reviewers are real people and that reviews are authentic. They use leading tech to analyze text quality and to detect plagiarism and generative AI. Learn more.
Capterra lists all providers across its website—not just those that pay us—so that users can make informed purchase decisions. Capterra is free for users. Software and service providers pay us for sponsored profiles to receive web traffic and sales opportunities. Sponsored profiles include a link-out icon that takes users to the provider’s website. The customer support provided by CARTO is excellent. Rarely have I had the pleasure of working with a company that consistently provides help and support so quickly and readily.
Really hard to use when you have no knowledge.
I like it because I can embed my beautiful maps everywhere, with many interactive functionalities. Also, the academy is awesome, there are many tutorials on how to build awesome stuff.
Credentials system is tricky. How data is stored and managed is confusing and requieres lots of trial/error test.
It also helps to communicate effectively the data and the analisis to governments. The good aspect is it has both beginners and advanced users interfaces.
It has a lack of editing capabilities offered by other desktop GIS software. The number of layers allowed also limits a lot complex cartography.
It looks slick, has lots of integrations, and is fairly flexible. It does a lot of what we want and the team was responsive and open to helping us with extra stuff.
The cost of the license is medium, the trial period is very limited, it does not offer proposals aimed at students with few economic resources.
Smappen is a great service and has been a great solution for my company. Im very happy with Smappen.
The only alternatives I could find required employing an agency (far more costly and slow an likely worse results) or training to use some very confusing and expensive software.
Those customized maps can be further edited and modified, and that really helps to visualize the data better and also to convey more information more effectively.
Festivals, light trails etc. Finding new locations used to involve an awful lot of calculating and research.
I love using Smappen at work to better localize our clients and providers. The "Area Type" and "Travel mode" functions are extremely efficient and representative of 'true' distances.
I was unsure about the practical application use of many of the extra features, even though there are pop-ups and emails which try to sell you on those features.
ArcGIS is too sophisticated and Google Maps too basic, and that's where Oalley really provides the best solution.
