Revit software helps architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) teams design, document, visualize, and deliver architecture, engineering, and construction projects.
My overall experience it great. It is an asset to our company, helping with scheduling, coordination, and production.
The only thing I can say negative is when writing a comment on my report, the font size automatically go’s to size 16 which I find rather small. I generally use size 30 which is more ledgible.
Easy to use, awesome interface and a awesome tool to track the progress and billing on any job site.
Errors in reading sheet titles for uploaded drawing sets.
The ability to have access to all the information supplied to the team, with the ease of access from mobile devices. Its almost better than having the actual paper version.
The most difficult thing to do in Fieldwire is to make handwritten notes or draw sketches on a plan using the pencil/drawing tool. The tool is extremely choppy.
Their customer service is friendly and helpful to deal with. If you are in construction management I would give them a try and see if you like it.
Fieldwire also has no text search function, which is another basic feature of any other software I've used.
With great Autodesk help support and an active online community, you can always find solutions to any issue you may have. I have been recommending Revit to colleagues every chance I get.
Pesky errors (dimension line lost reference and it will not tell which).
Revit, especially with BIM 360 cloud storage, is an amazing asset to have when it comes to collaboration and sheet creation. We also love to use Enscape with Revit to produce our marketing material.
Requires company to create its own libraries of object. Built in libraries are beyond horrible.
This software is really very interesting because it allows to make good plan of house and city the fact that it has a free version is really good.
The downside of this software is the printing part.
My experience with the software is great because it help me to model my projects to show them to costumers.
This program is removed from the purchasing system and offered to users by leasing method. This method is much more costly for users.
Marcellous W.: Hi, my name is Marcellous. I'm an HR and safety manager, and I rate Fieldwire five out of five. For more information, click below. Before we started using Fieldwire, we didn't have anything that we were using. It was more ball, pen and paper, trying to track daily production and whatnot, mostly text messages, and that's just not the way to do things. Some of the reasons why we chose Fieldwire, one was the price point on this, which was definitely in our budget. We liked it because we can scan in system prints or any kind of schematic showing the scope of work that we were working on. And then you can digitally track it, kind of like an as-built, so you can see where you're at and where you need to finish. And then, once the job is complete, you can still store it there or archive it there, if later on that you need to reference it for anything. That was another good tool to have. As far as getting Fieldwire up and running, it's pretty user-friendly. I mean, it's just a matter of a couple of clicks. You log in and you go to that particular project that you need to view, and there it is. If you need to create a new project, I mean, it's very, user-friendly. Click a button here, type in what you want to call that project, and off you go. Pretty user friendly. I would recommend. The mobility of this app is very good. In the field of construction that I'm in, when you're out in the field and you're looking at the scope of work for this particular project that you're working on, you can follow, stream right along on the app. As well as if you need to take specific photos of something that's on the project, say, a hazard or damage or something, you can store it right in the project on the app, and not on your phone or on your tablet, which is really good. If you need to reference any of those photos, you can go right to that particular project and they're there, and they'll stay there until you delete them. So, those are some of the features that I like, the reason why I would recommend someone to it.
Greg: My name is Greg and I'm president and CEO of a design build company in San Diego, California. My rating for Revit is five out of five. Prior to using Revit, we were using Chief Architect, which did okay, but it was frankly unimpressive as far as the modeling in 3D and going over to Revit was a completely different experience that our customers love. The reasons we went over to Revit was because we wanted better modeling, better construction documents, and at the end of the day, we wanted a better presentation for our customers to see 3D and virtual walkthroughs so they could really see ahead of time what their construction or remodel is going to look like. So we consider Revit an enterprise program, so it does take a little bit of learning and setup, but once you're through that and you're up and running with the program, using it for construction documents and modeling, it definitely pays off and our customers love it. My recommendation, if you're considering Revit, is to make sure either you have someone on staff that's familiar with the program and can train others, or that you get support for setup and training so that you make the process as smooth as possible.
