Very easy and user friendly to set up with a great support team. Much more affordable than previous databases we have used.
It leads to some lagg in inserting data and it will nog let you make entire steps missing when applicable -> meaning you have to tag every single item as missing which is not very efficient.
Castor has a good customers service who supports you when you encounter any difficulties and provides you with helpful tips/solutions.
This is the only issue that is somewhat annoying, having to justify why even though I am not changing the data.
It offers a wide variety of tools to validate data entry. It's cost-effective and the fact that one can practice and customize and test before the "go live" is a great advantage.
Dont let the cons bother you too much. Its a future proof software which every researcher should seriously consider using.
I like that it shows a percentage of how much data has been entered. The green, yellow and red system for queries is great too.
All variables need to be created manually; there is no option to do this programmatically.
I used Macro when i worked in a company specialized in data collection and analysis for pharmaceutical companies. Overall, i recommend Macro because it is trusted, reliable and cost effective.
It can have performance issues with poor network connections.
I very much appreciate the close collaboration between the software provider and the customer - as a customer you rather feel like a colleague than like a customer.
Cons - unless you have programmers available then reporting functionality is limited/ no way to blank pages from a top level when they are created/saved in error.
Eas of use is their key aspect. And above all, their customer service is one of the fastest best working teams I have ever had the pleasure to work with.
Any eForm or Visit activated in error cannot be returned to its inactive state, littering the study with irrelevant form(s)/ visit(s).
Regulatory absolutely compliant. Outstanding collection of user feedback and incorporation in current updates.
Pricing could be a limitation for low budget companies. Hosted service sometimes stop, may be due to internet issues.
Arick W.: My name is Arick, and I'm a clinical research associate. I would give Castor a 5 out of 5 stars. For more information, please click the link below. Castor is an electronic data capture system that is used for a lot of clinical trials, but also can be used for different clinical studies. Castor is a great way to capture data and prepare data for analysis and also create a fully auditable trail of your data. What I like most about Castor is probably how intuitive the interface is. It's really easy to use, and the learning curve for learning this new software is incredibly fast. It's also very affordable compared to a lot of the other electronic data capture systems that I've used. Castor was able to make it very accessible for my startup company to implement an electronic data capture system. Probably what I like least about Castor is their ability to run reports. I mean, with a lot of the data that I was getting, we kind of run our own custom reports, but I didn't think at the time I was using Castor that they had the ability to run a lot of custom reports. But since then, I've definitely given the company feedback and they've probably implemented some new tools since then.
