## What is OneDrive?

Microsoft OneDrive is a web-based digital asset management solution that allows businesses of all sizes to manage, collaborate, and share files. Administrators can set up a private or public site for authorized users, who can then create online folders to store their documents. Businesses can share sensitive data without revealing proprietary information by allowing only authorized people to access the folder. Users can also access and edit documents within the same collaborative environment. The Microsoft 365 interactive scanning app lets users scan and convert paper to searchable PDFs directly from their device.

OneDrive is great and is a very useful tool especially for our team that is scattered across the US and not in one central place to be able to collaborate in real time.

Pros

We would be lost without OneDrive! It is such a useful tool for us to be able to collaborate no matter where our employees are.

Cons

One thing I would change about One Drive is that sometimes it can be clunky to remove access of a specific file.

Overall I tend to enjoy utilizing OneDrive to save certain files that I will need to locate at a later time to use or share with a coworker.

Pros

It stores all the files that I need into one easy location to where I can upload from anywhere that I need to.

Cons

Sometimes it tends to copy over a similar file that I have saved or edited in multiple ways which can be an issue.

Using OneDrive is like trusting a squirrel with your homework: mostly fine, occasionally terrifying, and always an adventure. It works great when it wants to, and gives you character-building patience lessons the rest of the time.

Pros

OneDrive: because nothing says “modern productivity” like a cloud that’s mostly reliable and occasionally decides your files are on vacation. Great for document hide-and-seek, automatic backups you hope actually backed up, and pretending your messy desktop never existed.

Cons

OneDrive: for when you like living on the edge—files syncing, not syncing, syncing twice, or mysteriously vanishing. Bonus: figuring out which version is the “right” one is a full-time hobby.

Pros

Overall, I can't really say that I have any complaints. The files save well, they share relatively easily, and it can hold a lot of space.

Pros

High storage and ease of access, Also the seamless integration with Microsoft apps and their whole suite is huge.

Cons

The sharing feature is a bit wonky and also is a bit difficult to test whether a file will or will not open for another individual before sending.

Very positive overall. In addition to using it, I support our company with about 100 users and where in 2020 I experienced problems constantly, now (2026-03) I experience very few problems at all. Great improvements over the past five years.

Pros

The business version of the product for each team member is 1TB. That is huge for us because of the large CAD and other drawing files that are shared. It is super easy to attach the files to an email and have it link straight to OneDrive.

Cons

If OneDrive gets confused, then it can be a complete nightmare to untangle. I have had drives duplicate because of broken syncs. I have seeming "lost" files too but I do not recall a time I wasn't able to recover them from the online version.

Microsoft OneDrive is a really handy way to keep your files safe and easy to reach from anywhere. It automatically backs up your photos and documents, works smoothly with Windows and Microsoft 365, and makes sharing or collaborating with others simple and stress-free.

Pros

With OneDrive, files are always backed up in the cloud and can be reached from almost any device. It quietly keeps everything in sync, works smoothly with Word or Excel for shared edits, and even keeps older versions in case something needs to be rolled back.

Cons

It can feel a bit cramped if you’re just using the free space, and big files can take a while to finish syncing. When the internet isn’t great, getting to your stuff can be frustrating, and sometimes the sync just hiccups for no clear reason.

How Capterra ensures transparency

Capterra lists all providers across its website—not just those that pay us—so that users can make informed purchase decisions. Capterra is free for users. Software providers pay us for sponsored profiles to receive web traffic and sales opportunities. Sponsored profiles include a link-out icon that takes users to the provider's website.
