This software is useful for people who want to record a certain area on a PC screen, webcam or capture a game that uses the DirectX/OpenGL/Vulkan graphics technologies.
It worked perfectly, with the audio rightly synced with the video, again I used it to do a screen record of a group video chat, I got a very good quality output.
Depending on the size of the file, there's sometimes a really bad lack in the feed. It makes it hard to time when to switch to different media sources to keep from having an awkward moment.
The best feature of this program I like is the ability to create multiple scenes and have a variety of different looks to the content I can create.
OBS has some infrequent issues with losing setup details and losing audio / video sync that seem to be related to allowing the software to "idle" for too long.
I had an awesome experience and got very impressive with a free and open source software with such level of features.
Can be very difficult to record if you're doing a lot of takes (ie. recording a presentation), and can be somewhat confusing to get started out of the gate.
I like that OBS allows me to make Facebook streaming with a better sound quality and also helps me to share my screen, pictures or videos.
I did find that if I stopped and restarted a stream on OBS (without closing and reopening OBS), OBS would freeze or crash on an iMac that I was using.
It's a classic software and one of the best screen recorder's. It is easy to use, I like the drawing in the screen feature too, and the fact that it's free.
The only problem I has with the software, was that the file directories were a bit confusing to use.
It also allows in an excellent and easy way to save the previously recorded video in different video formats to share it with different platforms and equipment.
Also, there is no such thing as changing to custom configuration while recording (changing to the camera only, camera with screen, changing window, etc), so you need to record a new video to do that.
After originally coming across Bandicam, I was amazing at the level of quality I was able to record with, without sacrificing performance.
But if you need a quick screen cap, or you want to manipulate the video later, it works well for quick and dirty stuff.
It is very easy, and intuitive record screens/windows anything. Furthermore, the quality and the features improve as the subscription is activated further enriching the experience.
If you are using it on a low spec PC or a Laptop, it would decrease the FPS considerably.
Matthew T.: I'm Matthew. I'm a pastor at Astoria Christian Church, and I would rate OBS as a five out of five. Before we used OBS, we weren't really using anything and we had just researched to various options and programs that were available, and OBS quickly jumped out and we started using that from the beginning. OBS, again, quickly jumped out as the best program for us, primarily because it's a free software, it's an open software that we could get easily and use quickly, and it connected well with the streaming services we were using and the cameras we had available, and very user-friendly and to begin with. Once we got things set up, it ran really smoothly. Again, primarily because it was a free open software and connected to YouTube and the things that we're using to stream. Getting started with OBS, again, was pretty simple. The costs being free, just being able to download it and get it installed was quick and easy. The initial setup took us some time. Our internet service and speed needed to be, software adjustments needed to be made and settings needed to be adjusted in OBS to get everything to work well with our system and our setup, but once we got it set up, once we had all the information inputted right, and the settings set right, it ran really smoothly. Over time, as we've increased our internet speed here, we've been able to adjust the settings again and be able to get a little better quality as well. The initial setup was a little bit time-consuming, and again, working through the details of the settings and making sure it ran smoothly and appropriately. Once we got it set up though it was really smooth sailing after that. I would say the main thing I would recommend when downloading and getting OBS in your system and your setup is just make sure you look ahead and maybe research some videos or other advice as far as initial setup and getting things kind of ironed out, making sure you maybe even have someone you can bounce some ideas or questions off of to get it initially set up especially, but also making sure your platform's ready. We ran into YouTube more of the side of it where we had to have a setup with YouTube for a day or two before we could get it all connected and everything. Making sure all the bells and whistles or all the other side of things is ready to go. Then when you install it and get those settings made up, that'll help a lot. Also, making sure and checking internet speed before you even get OBS would be helpful as well, so you know where your starting point is and if you need to adjust those settings down or up, dependent upon quality and your speed of internet and other programs that you'll be using with it.
