I lost some completion data records where there should of been a hard stop warning that this could happen before I made the change.
Pros: affordable $rates for small schools, ongoing improvement of software/addition of features, capability for audio/video recording, excellent and prompt technical support.
The grading settings can be particularly confusing.
Good software for the money, good GUI that is straightforward with where you are what you can do in the module. Ability to setup of tests, paths of learning and fun stuff a plus.
At the beginning, the participants could check their account and diplomas without paying and only paid if they entered the course. Now they have no access to anything unless they pay.
We use the software as an LMS for our online school and our students love being able to see their progress and grades as they progress through our courses.
Errors like http errors appear from time to time. Night mode is still buggy.
The customer service is great. It puts the responsibility back on the kids for practice and shows them their progress and how then can practice the material.
My one complaint is that there are no options for setting a time and date for an assignment to appear, only the date.
This was a great platform for helping my students perform better on tests in the classroom. It was easy for them to use and me to review.
Sometimes the questions are too wordy for the students. This makes them frustrated and sometimes limits their desire to problem solve.
Ease of use for students makes for seamless classroom use. I love that I have a tool that allows students to visually see their progress via the dot ranks.
I dislike that one teacher can turn the arcade off for the entire site.
I like that the program offered a progress monitoring, to show me the students academic growth and progress.
It does not allow for Spanish speaking students who are just learning English. As a home school parent it is too costly since I have to buy one subject at a time.
Kierra G: Hi, my name is Kierra, and I'm the director of an online music school. We serve kids ages four through 18, and we're a company of 15 to 30 people. Out of five stars, I give CYPHER Learning four. CYPHER is our first LMS that we actually went with, but we looked into Schoolology, and we looked into Google Classroom, but they just didn't have the look that we needed for our school. We decided to go with CYPHER Learning really for, okay, it was a number of things. First was the aesthetic. We love the educational vibe that it had. Then second was just all of the features that it had, with the gradebook and tracking, being able to create your own courses, and now with AI, the AI-assisted course creation, which is very helpful, but really, it was just the look of it was more so what we were looking for. Schoolology and Google Classroom, they have similar functionality, but it's just the look, it just wasn't really what we were looking for. Then, of course, all the features, with AI being able to assist in course creation, because we are about creating self-paced courses, it just really is really helpful. Integrating CYPHER Learning was relatively easy. Anyone can do it, but there is a slight learning curve when it comes to customization of features, but it is really simple. We have a tech person on our team, so they were able to walk us through what was needed and what needed to happen. I would say, if you don't have a tech person on your team, if your team is smaller, you will be able to figure it out. It's not too complicated to where you need that point person, but it is a bit of a learning curve if you're not used to having to go through customization features. For those of you who are considering CYPHER Learning for your business, I would highly recommend it. I would just make sure that your audience and your target market is suitable for their aesthetics. It's great for the older learner, adult learner, collegiate learner. I would say the youngest, maybe middle, high school. That's one of the cons about it for us is we serve younger and older students. For our younger students, the aesthetic isn't as lively and bubbly for that age group, but it's great for our older kids. They love it. We've had to really use all of the customization features we can to get it for the younger age group. If you serve older learners, then I think it's great. I think it's really simple to use once you, it is a learning curve at first, especially if you're not used to an LMS, but once you get how they have their system laid out, it's pretty simple to use. Then their tech support is also pretty spot on.
Jessica: I'm Jessica and I am a Director of Curriculum. My rating for USATestprep is a four out of five. For more reviews like this, click below. USATestprep helped my school a lot because we were trying to get people ready for the MAP test. And so, we were able to assign lessons or have review games based on specific Missouri state standards. So, it met the need of being able to look at the standards where we were weak and create or use pre-made quizzes or lessons to help fill that need with our students. And also help with our students who did after-school tutoring because we really needed, especially for those kids, something that was going to target the gaps of what they specifically needed to know and maybe what they had missed in years past. Probably my favorite thing as an educator about USATestprep is the review games, especially the white board or smart board games like Battle Royale. My kids really liked Battle Royale. Being able to split into boys versus girls or just different groups within the room. And you could do that whole group or in small group. And also being able to play that game, having it be fun, having the rewards built into the game, not have to be something you have to pay or have candy for or anything like that. Something is as simple as hearing a specific noise because they did well or having to have the other team lose points or versus you getting bonus points. So, it really helped. It also helped with competition because a lot of kids kind of thrive on that. And kids that maybe under normal circumstances wouldn't have been excited about a review of lesson material would be more excited because we were getting to play Battle Royale and they were getting to pick their own team name and team character and try to beat the other teams. So, Battle Royale and in general the review games on USATestprep are my favorite part of USATestprep. One thing that I struggled with USATestprep was creating my own benchmark test. I don't feel like USATestprep is quite as intuitive as other test making programs that are educational. For instance, sites like Kahoot! or Quizizz, where you're able to very quickly choose from a pool of questions. I know that USATestprep it's similar, but I had a little bit more of an issue creating, especially if I wanted to create my own questions. Normally for things like that, instead of USATestprep, I would go to using Google Forms, Quizizz, or Kahoot!, just because to me, they were more user-friendly. And I stuck to using USATestprep for individual assigned lessons and also for the review games.
