Looker brings the data and business teams together by making it easy for everyone to explore and understand the data that drives business.
Main focus on finance, sales and marketing but suitable for every situation where users need effective data entry with top/down planning options and calculation models for multiple users.
I love the ability to visualize all of the data in one space. Dashboard creation is easy and so useful.
Can get a bit confusing and confining with more complex queries/analysis. Machine written sql can be annoying.
We use ours with Redshift and Aurora and they take most advantage of both systems. Their super awesome customer support - always available chat who are really good at what they are doing.
To be fair, if you have a terrible underlying data warehouse, then all Looker will do is expose that.
It’s a good option if you want to do dashboards connected to google sheets. Also a good alternative to PowerBi.
Unfortunately, their documentation could use some improving as often I find myself confused and unsure what to do with their docs.
Looker has been a great and useful tool for out business. Where we've found challenges is in the specific data dictionary and set-up, which internally was not well prepared prior to implementation.
I dislike how long it can take certain reports in Looker to load.
Incredible performance backed by best in the business technology like MS Azure SQL Server. There is a great set of features built into this product.
My only negative, and i understand now that its a feature of the product. Its not intended to be a replacement of an ERP system or database, so is limited once the cube becomes too large.
Acterys leverages best-of-breed technology, SQL, PowerBI, and adds their secret sauce of enabling write back with pretty amazing techniques like splashing and planning and multi-level simultaneously.
No endpoint for refreshing datasets (that I'm aware of); also, PKs seem to be regenerated with each refresh, which can be a pain.
Really a great solution that has allowed us to level up our QB-based reporting. I am still astonished by its affordability.
The billing part is somehow disappointing as you cannot use a credit card to purchase on the site.
The resource library (wiki Page) is content rich and updated regularly. The solution integrates beautifully with Power BI and Excel.
There are a few quirks and gotchas with using the Writeback to the Cube. Even after we thought we'd figured out all the details, they seem to come back to haunt us periodically.
Prioritize real-user-identified key features according to your needs to find your best fit.
