I was looking for an economical tool but didn't dare to hope for free. Then, a colleague highly recommended Shotcut, and I was very grateful for it.
It lacks some surprising functionality that makes it frustrating to use.
If you take the time to watch some tutorials, practice, and explore the features you realize that Shotcut is quite robust and full of possibilities for amazing results.
We found ourselves routinely having to work around some clipped windows, truncated menu text, or confusing layouts (namely the export window).
Great software - nearly as good as any other video editing software I have worked with.
However, it does NOT export this way. I have no experience with other video editors, so I'm not sure if that's a common theme among them.
Shotcut is like a free version to Filmora. Shotcut is an AMAZING VIDEO EDITING SOFTWARE.
This is a feature that I look for in video editors and while editing, I really missed it.
I like that InShot gives me the ability to edit my videos quickly and efficiently while on my phone. I appreciate that I am able to add words or emojis with ease to compliment the video.
The only thing I'm worried about is that they stop the app. It should forever be available please.
Honestly, the fact that this app is capable of doing so much is what makes this an amazing app. It's FREE which makes it even better for those that are trying to stick to a budget.
Some of the new features are not so clear on how to use them, such as the "screen effect", and what is missing today is something very essential: automatic subtitles.
I absolutely recommend it if you like to use it for business or pleasure. It's user friendly, reliable, integrable and your videos can look professional.
It lacks some professional effects because their number within the app is limited, and some features of the app are paid.
When i saw what the Free Version can do i decided to try out the In-app purchase and wow it was like i haven't even been using the free version before.
There isn't really anything about the app that I would mention a dislike about. The app sometimes freezes, but it is because my phone quickly runs full.
Steven: I'm Steven, I'm a Pastor in the religious services industry. And I give Shotcut a four out of five stars. Before using Shotcut, I was one of those people that used Windows Movie Maker and after Microsoft got rid of that, I was forced to find something else. And after researching alternatives, like the paid services, like Adobe provides, I came to the realization of that Shotcut as an open source platform would do everything that I needed to do, without the sharp learning curve that is found in the other video editing programs. I chose to use Shotcut first and foremost, because of the price. As a open source program, you can't beat the price. It has a wide range of uses and file export options, which makes it very useful. When you need to export a video in a certain format, it has those format options available, and it has a low learning curve. It's been very easy integrating Shotcut into my business. Since I started using it years ago, I was able to get on and figure my way through the different options and capabilities, and have been using it ever since to edit videos for ministry purposes. If you're looking for a good replacement for Windows Movie Maker or an affordable video editing program, I'd recommend Shotcut. It is a powerful program that it is easy to use and it's open source means that there will be continual updates to it in the future.
