Startups, Freelancers, Agencies, Innovation Groups, Enterprise Internal Tools
Retool is primarily for developers and engineering leaders who are familiar with JavaScript and SQL. If you are at a tech-forward company and solve internal business problems with code, Retool is for
Draftbit has a great community forum and their customer-facing team members are super helpful and receptive to ideas of how the product and support tools can be improved.
Fortuneatly, we were able to just recreate the code in the custom code editor, but still, a very annoying problem that could be solved from a single feature.
Connecting to external API's are easy in Draftbit. The component library is good and it's growing.
Figuring out where you went wrong or what is causing the app to not function as expected is near impossible.
The ability to download source code is a game-changer. Design tools are powerful, but easy to use.
Users won't ever need to worry that Draftbit might close shop one day and the code is lost.
Is a fantastic software. Just the speed is a consern for us.
Some builder features are clunky (e.g. adding multiple actions). Some low code features can be obtuse, requiring actual coding knowledge to dig through the source code to understand them.
The scope for integrations is great and the fledgling community forum is a useful place for assistance and inspiration.
It's really hard to find something to complain about. Maybe the development for mobile (the old one, not the one in beta for native mobile apps).
Retools offers excellent and helpful templates to use as a starting point for your project. There are also tons of great integrations/services that will make your life easier and more productive.
I have to start it several times thinking it's my internet connection that is faulty or having a problem not knowing it's the software that is a bit too slow on its self.
We use retool for almost all of our internal workflows. It's amazing how powerful this system is.
ReTool is incredibly slow. I have to open two windows at a time when using it because I end up wasting a lot of time just trying to navigate through one.
The fundamental ability to quickly create apps and help the internal team to operate in a more efficient manner is extremely good.
There are some missing integrations, but nothing that you can't handle.
Thomas P.: My name is Thomas. I'm an SEO Manager/Web Developer. I work for a company that's in the tourist industry and hospitality industry, and I rate Retool 5/5. Before Retool, we used predominantly in-house built tools, which over time was very time-consuming and in order to access the range of online APIs we needed to get our data out and have a little bit more advanced usage of tools, admin tools, and that's where Retool really came into play. Retool was very appealing because it was a one-stop solution to attaching a lot of external APIs, and we use it predominantly to process our customer data and with the integrated REST APIs, they have their databases and the ease of use of constructing tools to do pretty much whatever you want was a very, very good reason to adopt Retool as an admin platform. What was very attractive to Retool instantly was the fact that it was so easy and quick to develop internal tools via their components. Some pre-written, some you can develop yourself, but it was very, very simple and very, very quick, which is also cost-effective. Retool on the whole is widely adoptable in any shape or form, no matter what the nature of the business. The fact that you can tie into external and internal APIs to process data and then integrate that to a predefined workflow or a customizable workflow is really a great tool for businesses of any size.
