We have had clients who were already using Sage for their business operations, and while redesigning or developing their websites we needed to connect the web experience with their existing Sage setup. For those projects it worked well as the back-office system for keeping products, inventory, customer information and orders organized. There is definitely a learning curve, especially if you come from modern web and SaaS tools, but after the initial setup the system has been stable and predictable. Overall, I see it as a strong option for established small and mid-sized businesses that need solid accounting and operational functionality and do not mind a more traditional interface. Pros We have worked with Sage 100 on a few client projects where their existing ERP needed to be connected with a new website or e-commerce experience. What I liked most was how dependable it was once the integration was properly configured. Product, inventory, customer and order data could be kept organized in one central system, which made the web side much easier to manage. It also offers a good amount of flexibility for businesses that already have established operational processes. Cons The biggest downside for me is that the product feels quite traditional compared with newer cloud-based platforms. Some integration and configuration tasks require more technical knowledge than you might initially expect, and the interface can take some time to understand when you are not using Sage every day. Once everything is set up it works reliably, but getting there is not always as straightforward as with more modern SaaS products. Interface feels old fashioned, not going to pretend otherwise, but the core accounting and inventory pieces have held up solid for a growing business like ours. Pros Wouldn't have guessed this would matter as much as it did but the serial and lot number tracking on inventory saved us during a supplier recall last year, we could pull up exactly which batch went to which customer instead of scrambling through paper records. Also use Visual Integrator a lot for pulling data in from our old system, way less manual entry than I expected going in. Cons The interface still feels dated compared to newer cloud tools, some screens look like they haven't changed much since the MAS 90 days, took new hires a bit to get used to the layout. The system's robust features and customizable reports have been a huge asset, but occasional glitches and steep learning curve have been minor drawbacks. Pros Sage 100 has been pretty solid for our accounts payable workflow, especially when it comes to processing invoices and managing vendor relationships. We've also appreciated the reporting features, which work well enough to meet our needs. Cons One thing that's kind of annoying is the steep learning curve for some of the more advanced features. Took a bit to figure out how to properly set up the budgeting module, and the documentation could be better. Once everything was set up, it was reliable for daily business operations. Pros Its simple and easy to use .It handles accounting, inventory, invoicing, and financial reporting in one place, which saves time. The main USP i would say is the ability to generate detailed reports and helps keep financial data organized. It works well for day-to-day business operations. Cons The interface feels a little outdated compared to newer cloud-based software. Some reports and customizations take time to set up, and the initial learning curve can be challenging for new members of my team. It is very stable and does what I need it to do to run my accounting system for my business. Pros Very stable product. I have been using it for almost 14 years and have had very few problems with it. The Support Department is very knowledgeable and quick to respond. I like that you can create custom financial reports. It has user friendly menus that make it easy to navigate the software modules. Cons Payroll: Employee Maintenance: Not being able to start typing an employee name in the Employee No. field like you can in the Vendor No. field. Knowledge Base: Needs to have a wider variety of help solutions. It took a little while to get used to at first as I had no accounting background when first using it. Now, I wouldn't be without it. Pros The software is fast, responsive and very easy to use. Very good Customer Support if any issues do arise. Cons If there has to be a con, it would be that it takes a little while for the software to start up, but fast once it has.
