I lost some completion data records where there should of been a hard stop warning that this could happen before I made the change.
Pros: affordable $rates for small schools, ongoing improvement of software/addition of features, capability for audio/video recording, excellent and prompt technical support.
The grading settings can be particularly confusing.
Good software for the money, good GUI that is straightforward with where you are what you can do in the module. Ability to setup of tests, paths of learning and fun stuff a plus.
At the beginning, the participants could check their account and diplomas without paying and only paid if they entered the course. Now they have no access to anything unless they pay.
We use the software as an LMS for our online school and our students love being able to see their progress and grades as they progress through our courses.
Errors like http errors appear from time to time. Night mode is still buggy.
The support we had with our customer success manager is the best, and she was instrumental in helping us launch and promote the resources.
In the beginning it was a little intimidating learning how to navigate and set up employees.
This product has so many options to offer as it relates to training, compliance. A great LMS tool and the customer service is outstanding.
It is hard to keep the back end organised based on how the system is set up - this makes it very challenging to manage a large employee base. The reporting functionality is very limited.
Flexibility, ability to track your progress, create relevant learning path and nice hands on exercises. Very intuitive and easy to use.
Having to use only a specific browser to operate the product meant that it was difficult for users on different platforms.
I love using skillsoft for training and development and am excited to continue using them.
The courses I have watched were all using flash, so if your device does not support it, that could be a challenge.
Kierra G: Hi, my name is Kierra, and I'm the director of an online music school. We serve kids ages four through 18, and we're a company of 15 to 30 people. Out of five stars, I give CYPHER Learning four. CYPHER is our first LMS that we actually went with, but we looked into Schoolology, and we looked into Google Classroom, but they just didn't have the look that we needed for our school. We decided to go with CYPHER Learning really for, okay, it was a number of things. First was the aesthetic. We love the educational vibe that it had. Then second was just all of the features that it had, with the gradebook and tracking, being able to create your own courses, and now with AI, the AI-assisted course creation, which is very helpful, but really, it was just the look of it was more so what we were looking for. Schoolology and Google Classroom, they have similar functionality, but it's just the look, it just wasn't really what we were looking for. Then, of course, all the features, with AI being able to assist in course creation, because we are about creating self-paced courses, it just really is really helpful. Integrating CYPHER Learning was relatively easy. Anyone can do it, but there is a slight learning curve when it comes to customization of features, but it is really simple. We have a tech person on our team, so they were able to walk us through what was needed and what needed to happen. I would say, if you don't have a tech person on your team, if your team is smaller, you will be able to figure it out. It's not too complicated to where you need that point person, but it is a bit of a learning curve if you're not used to having to go through customization features. For those of you who are considering CYPHER Learning for your business, I would highly recommend it. I would just make sure that your audience and your target market is suitable for their aesthetics. It's great for the older learner, adult learner, collegiate learner. I would say the youngest, maybe middle, high school. That's one of the cons about it for us is we serve younger and older students. For our younger students, the aesthetic isn't as lively and bubbly for that age group, but it's great for our older kids. They love it. We've had to really use all of the customization features we can to get it for the younger age group. If you serve older learners, then I think it's great. I think it's really simple to use once you, it is a learning curve at first, especially if you're not used to an LMS, but once you get how they have their system laid out, it's pretty simple to use. Then their tech support is also pretty spot on.
Mike: Hi, my name is Mike. I'm a career advisor. This review is for Skillsoft, which I would rate four out of five stars. For more reviews like this, please click below. Before bringing Skillsoft into our organization, we actually didn't have a formal training and development system in a virtual platform available for our employees and our candidates. So this was basically a revolutionary change for our learning and training and development environment. It was something where we weren't previously capable or understanding of all that a virtual platform would entail, so luckily, Skillsoft made it really easy. The main reason we chose Skillsoft was the library of trainings that were available. We did have employees that spanned all divisions, from technology to accounting, finance, typical business trainings. So having that broad wealth of resources available to us, let us really customize the resources that we were providing our employees for development. So that large library plus the ease of use and setup was definitely the strong selling points of Skillsoft. Getting started with Skillsoft was pretty simple. Relatively intuitive platform, and they have made changes to it over the years, so it's become easier to use as time's gone on. So overall, relatively intuitive, point and click for the most part. Everyone on the back end, within the IT department, said it was relatively easy to get set up within our system and our environment. And the users of Skillsoft have also said that the ease of use of the platform and, really, the ability to train at their leisure is a very open, really interesting, and helpful tool for them. So for someone considering Skillsoft, I would definitely recommend to ensure that there are the trainings and types of videos and topics that you'd be interested in having your employees develop and use. There is a lot on Skillsoft so it's not always the most focused platform, unless you're specifically guiding your employees towards the classes or the trainings that would specifically benefit them in their roles. So I would definitely recommend leveraging Skillsoft, but making sure doing a job analysis for each position to make sure that you're tailoring the specific trainings towards those positions.
