Vectorworks is an award-winning design and BIM software provider serving the architecture, landscape architecture and design, and entertainment industries in 85 countries.
People in the following industries: Mechanical Electrical Plumbing Construction Telecommunication Architectural Fire Protection Flooring Security Inspection Pest Control Waterproofing Fencing
We take advantage of the software’s BIM capabilities to generate elevations, schedules, and smart tags. This program is visually appealing and easy to navigate.
It must be integrated with other software solutions and at least on MacBook Pro it is a disaster. I understand that it is not entirely a software problem but it is really depressing.
Vectorworks is a great drafting program. It allows you to do anything you want, with great control over how the drawings look, and many ways to organize a complete drawing set.
Because of the limited use of this program in some markets, collaborating with others can be difficult.
Classes and layers system is generally a good way of working. I like the clean appearance of the workspace.
The biggest drawbacks to using Vectorworks is that it is not as widely used in the construction industry, so can be limited in transferring between consultants etc.
BIM capabilities, ease of learning, ease of use, ease of rendering, Smart tools, exceptional customer service, stability and speed of work.
And for BIM, it is hard to justify not using the industry standard software. So where is the edge for Vectorworks.
The customer support team is fantastic, and was eager to know about my experience with the tool and what they could do to improve.
The issue that bothered me the most is its mandatory bidding features. We have no need for them.
It's a good product, very simple for take measures on worksite, perfect for begin layout... or transfer to Cad application... there is a lot advantage directly inside it.
Lack of features for more complicated drawings.
ArcSite has given us the ability to create beautiful, quality, custom bids for the work we do on our customers home that is unparalleled.
No desktop version, limited export options, inconsistent and limited dimensioning, and not easy to get area measurements. Higher levels are a bit expensive.
We have it on an iPad and sometimes that hinders abilities depending on what stylus I have handy. I do like the time it can save being able to complete base plans or designs right on-site.
There are times when very detailed drawings can be a pain. Sometimes it is difficult to draw or drag and place lines that are close together.
