Customer service on all levels is terrible. The impression we have is that once you have purchase and integrated the software with your ERP you are essentially stuck with them.
Overall, I've had a great experience. I've got a great customer service rep who has been nothing but helpful throughout the entirety of my experience with Avalara.
The accuracy of the tax rates is questionable to the point of us having to double check rates on state websites to verify that the correct tax rate is being charged.
Anything that keeps me on track, automating my tax reporting is a wonderful, cherished product. Avalara rolls up my sales tax for yearly processing, and when it's complete, it's really good.
I would not recommend going with Avalara due to the horrible customer service and the fact state agencies hate working with them (and that is a quote from 5 different states).
I have been working with Avalara for over 3 years, and I am very happy with the service it provides as well as the ease for doing business.
Their support is awful, rude, and unhelpful. They will tell you "This is not in the contract" a 100 times and will not try to help fix your issue.
Quickbooks is easy to manage use and learn. It provides good reports quickbook comes at an affordable price therefore it has been perfect fot my small buisness.
The biggest downfall of QBO is that it is very different from QBD and has a learning curve. If the users do not learn how to propertly use QBO, they can mess up the companies books BAD.
Fields to fill and perfectly links the data from one end like ap and AR to the bank reconciliation. Great reports on transactions for the month or period if interest.
No 'undo' button and not excessively intuitive. If you make a mistake, have to know how to reverse/correct it.
Great smart accounting software that is very responsive and nice to send invoices and get paid faster.

We sell mushroom grow kits, hydroponic supplies, and grow tents, and I would give Avalara a five-star rating out of five. Before Avalara, I was just setting tax groups in my Wix websites, and it wasn't accurate, and it was definitely charging my customers more tax and paying more tax than I needed to. I chose Avalara for ease of setup. It was very easy to integrate into my Wix websites, and it automatically calculates the tax so that I don't have to worry about it come tax time. It was very easy to get set up with Avalara. Basically, just added it to my websites and input my information, and it automates the tax for me. If you're considering using Avalara, I would recommend just adding it to your website, and just trying it out, seeing how easy it is to set it up and how little you have to manage it.
Speaker 1: My name is Alex. I'm the COO for Made By WiFi. We're a boutique IT firm based out of New York City with under 10 employees. I would rate QuickBooks Online a 5/5. I use QuickBooks Online for bookkeeping, invoice management, accounts receivables, payment processing, as well as the reporting capabilities which are very rich. I like how easy it was to pick up and learn. I've never used QuickBooks before. We were managing our company's finances through Google Sheets prior to QBO. The learning curve was basically a day, we got it all figured out. It's very easy to navigate and it's very easy to find what you need as well as streamline financial operations. Just making it easier to get paid, essentially. I'd like to see more consistent monthly billing from QBO. I feel like our monthly billing increased almost by 50% since we signed up without really getting more features. I'm not sure how quickly or why they raised their prices so aggressively, but they have, and I wish there was just more of a locked-in rate for a period of time that we could have agreed to.
